I pushed the car into a deep ditch. It would be filled with rainwater soon enough, bloating up the body and washing away evidence. I reached for my pack of cigarettes. They were empty.

"Mother fucker." I crushed the pack then set it on fire before tossing it into the ditch. The rain extinguished it a moment later.

I ran parallel to the highway until I found a gas station. I walked in, soaked head to toe. The old man who was the cashier looked at me and sighed, going to the back of the store to grab a mop. Probably to clean up his piss when I glared at him for not being at the counter when I got there. He sighed again as he went behind the counter, leaning on the mop. I pulled out my wallet while telling him my brand of choice. He met my eyes as I handed him the two bills, and he completely froze. I grabbed the cigarettes and left.

Damn right he's scared. Being with Bella didn't weaken the fear I could effortlessly invoke.

I stood just outside of the gas station while smoking. It was almost midnight. Bella's town should be asleep.

After finishing my cigarette I slowly approached the town. The six scents of vampires set me on edge, but I knew I could handle twice that amount easily if I had to do so.

Fuck, being with Bella was messing with my head. I never had to give myself a pep talk when going into a possibly hazardous situation. She's not a hindrance though, just another factor- a game changer. Now I had to consider more than just my own welfare. I had no weaknesses before she arrived. I can't use my old plays because none of them accounted for her.

The town was oddly arrange, most of the houses in the northern half. Bella lived there. A single gas station, a few outdoor goods stores, three schools, one for each level. It was almost as small as the town I grew up in. The Cullen coven's scent seemed strongest to the east. I'd visit there last. Carlisle's scent was faintly coming from the south. I tracked it to a hospital. I stood in the parking lot. I could sense him inside. Evidently he had good control.

I already knew what he looked like though. I wanted to visually confirm the other ones. They had a mind reader and seer though. No matter. They were weak. They'd either run at my approach or greet me. And they were too weak to go after Bella. I instinctively knew that, but I was still hesitant. What if my instinct was wrong? It was a stupid worry. My instincts have never been wrong.

I started heading east, walking slowly so they knew I was approaching. I kept my thoughts on the stars. I could feel five vampiric presences, all in one area. I briefly considered walking in a wide arch around them, just to screw with them, but refrained. I'd already messed enough with them this week.

A large white house appeared in the forest. A burly male standing by a weak looking woman with light brown hair were on the porch. They were both scared, but the male was pretending to be unaffected by me. I stopped at the bottom of their driveway and looked at him. I narrowed my eyes, not breaking eye contact. I could feel and see him struggle to not look away. A moment later he did so, with the excuse of looking at the blond female who walked out of the house.

"What are you doing here?" The blond asked while sneering. I lit a cigarette and took a drag before responding.

"Looking around." I said simply while walking towards them. The weak looking woman took a step back. "I know the names, and I'm getting to know the faces. How 'bout you connect the dots for me. What's your name, blondy?" The burly male stepped in front of her. They were wearing matching wedding rings. The weak woman stepped forward, to her previous position.

"This is my family." She said, feigning confidence. "I am Esme and these are my two children Rosalie and Emmett."

"How incestuous of you." I mumbled before taking another drag. "So that means Edward and Alice are inside. I already know how that piss-ant looks, so why don't you bring out Alice?" Esme was feeling defense of her family. "Just do it, trust me when I say this is the easy way."

"What will you do when she comes out?" I considered whether I should answer her or not, while avoiding thoughts of my motives.

"I'll see her." I chuckled. "It's not fair that she can see me, but I can't see her." I alluded to Alice's supposed ability to see the future. "Come out, come out, where ever you are." I heard movement inside of the house. A little twig of a woman came out of the house. She felt a flush of different emotions, mostly fear and lust- a combination I often invoked in women. "Good. That's enough for now." I ground my cigarette under my boot before leaving, enjoying their fear.
