Galion let out a sign of relief, he could feel Ivoriel's heart pulsating under the palm of his hand. He lifted her out of the water. Water soaked his robes where Ivoriel touched.
"Galion?" she asked deliriously. Her hand touched his cheek softly. He could feel the slowly healing cuts on her hands and the bruises on her arms were visible.
"You are safe now, my lady. Rest…" he replied gently carrying her form up the stairs. The wine lay on its side, forgotten. Ivoriel marginally relaxed in his arms. Her feet swayed with each of Galion's steps. Her hair shone like moonlight on water in the dull light.
A trail of water was left behind as Galion carried her to the medical wing.
He could faintly hear someone running towards them. It was the girl's brother. Gwaenor, he recognised.
"You are alive!" Gwaenor yelled unbelievably at her. Gwaenor held her face delicately between his hands. Not quite believing she was actually there. Galion carefully passed her to him. Water dripped from her hair onto him but he couldn't bring himself to care. He rushed her to the medical wing careful not to jostle her too much. Her head lolled into his shoulder. He could see she was unconscious. Exhaustion had taken her.

I tiredly opened my eyes to bright light. Something wet and soft touched my head. Avorndir, one of Malenor's healers checked the almost healed cut on my head. The other healer, Irewen. I think her name was went to get more ointments and what not. She was new, I understood. Someone squeezed my hand, my eyes flickered to the side to see Gwaenor beside me. I smiled happily at him. Was this a dream? If it were it was a very happy one.
"Ivoriel, how are you feeling?" he asked, rubbing his thumb soothingly over my knuckles.
"I- I have been better." I replied, my voice sounded hoarse. My throat tightened as I realised Moriel was still about.
"We had quite despaired!" someone said behind him. Estennil. My eyes lit up at the sight of her. But it did not diminish my earlier anxieties.
"Moriel! Where is she?" I asked, hysteria laced my voice. Understanding lit Gwaenor's eyes and Avorndir chastised me softly for moving so abruptly. I apologised to him. The ointment stung me.
"It was Moriel who did this was it not." Gwaenor asked me. I recoiled and nodded. He stroked the underside of my wrist.
"Do not worry. She will be dealt with accordingly…" he said comfortingly. But my mind was not at ease and I suspect it wouldn't be for some time.
…
The thoughts rushed through Thranduil's mind like lightening. She was alive! He desperately wanted to see her. He almost had to tie himself to his seat. Composure was absolutely necessary. Especially now under the observant eyes of his butler. He couldn't concentrate on his work. But kept his eyes fixed on it anyway.
"My king, would you not like to see her?" Galion asked mildly. As not to aggravate the grumpy lion.
"I am afraid that that may be entirely inappropriate, Galion. Others will talk." He responded, Thranduil's focus was completely on the document in front of him.
"Let them gossip. I presumed she would have been your main priority." Galion said lightly, Thranduil put his quill down.
"Perhaps, but I must not let my heart rule my head."
"Why is that sire?" Galion questioned innocently. Thranduil could not detect the purpose of it all.
"My people come first as they always have." Thranduil said.
"But they are thriving with happiness as ever." The butler remarked.
"Do you not deserve happiness too?" Galion countered.
"What is this all about? I cannot imagine the resolution of your questioning?" Thranduil grumbled pushing himself away from the paperwork and glowered at his old friend.
"Perhaps… but I believe you do, my lord. You only ever had one little one." Galion mumbled, half hoping his king wouldn't hear.
"Ah! So that is it! You wish to have more little elflings running amuck and getting into mischief or something of the likeness?" Thranduil accused sceptically, his eyebrows raised in amusement.
"You cannot say the idea is not appealing." Galion laughed lightly. Thranduil sneered slightly.
"I do not desire what you speak of." Thranduil replied, though the pull to see Ivoriel grew stronger. Even if it was just to make sure she was going to be fine.
"No you desire something else. A certain Elleth I imagine." Galion smirked in reply. Thranduil waved his hand airily.
"Leave me be Galion." Thranduil demanded scornfully. Galion's smirk widened. He knew his king blatantly disowned the thought. That thin wall of denial was rapidly crumbling down into pieces. Especially since the last party he had attended, Galion had noted a change in his king. A pleasant one. Galion smiled and leaned back into the wall. Now only the culprit had to be dealt with.
…
Estennil kept me company. She chatted away about Gwaenor and all the things I had missed. I even found out that the king had imprisoned Moriel. Though she was ignorant of Moriel's true nature and what she had done. She would be enlightened soon enough but for now I just wished to enjoy the carefree moment. Gwaenor had excused himself some time ago for reasons unknown to me. But I had an excellent guess of what he was up to.
"It might be a good idea if you rest Ivoriel, you have had very tiresome weeks." Estennil said stroking my hair softly. I think she was afraid to touch me anywhere else in fear of hurting me. Right she was too. My body ached. I was sore to the bone. But in time I would recover.
I could help my thoughts flickering to Thranduil. Where was he? Did he not care that I was found? I thought miserably.
"I think that would be best…" I replied to Estennil. I smiled tiredly at her, one which she returned, if not more vigorously.
"Will you come back?" I asked feeling like a child.
"Yes, of course I will." She promised and with that I settled back into the pillows.
I'm afraid I won't be able to update again until at least next weekend. Very stressful and busy week ahead… but you guys and this fic keep me going I would very much like to know your thoughts so far
Until next time!
