It was the next morning after the fallout from the Gala. Pilar rolled over in the bed, and held her forehead. She had not really slept from the night before, but she did a lot of thinking and crying. She swung the covers off her body, and placed her feet on the fuzzy carpet. The sun was peeking through the blinds, and she thought to herself that the new day began as usual, but Hunter would be bringing another life into this world, a child they have not created. She stood quickly trying to remove Hunter from her mind, she knew she had to try and move on from him, and today was the beginning of it, or at least she hoped.

As she walked towards the master bathroom, she felt as though she was being watched, she turned to see four little eyes staring sadly at her. "What are you two little munchkins doing up so early…And fully dressed…?"

Liam held his sister's hand and both children walked towards their mother. "Mommy…" Liam looked down towards the floor at his small foot kicking at nothing. "Mommy…We heard you crying all night…Why…Were we bad…?"

Pilar knelt down on her knees before both children. "Oh no, babies…Mommy just wasn't feeling well…" It broke her heart that her children felt they had something to do with her tears.

Lily held her brown fuzzy bear, and handed it to Pilar. "Daddy say hold cinna (Lily and Hunter named the little bear cinnamon, but Lily can't pronounce it, so it is cinna) when I feel sick, and he will take it away…You take cinna…" Lily kissed her mother's cheeks. "All better Mommy…"

Pilar smiled. "Thank you my angel…And you know what…?" Pilar forced a big bright smile for Lily. "Mommy is starting to feel better already…I think we have a new doctor in the making…" Pilar ruffled her fingers through Lily's hair, and the little girl smiled as though she just cured Pilar illness.

Liam looked at his mother. "Is daddy still coming today to get us…?

It took everything inside of Pilar to say yes. "Yes baby, Daddy is coming for both of you…"

"Can you come too…?" Liam asked with so much hope in his voice.

"Not this time…" Pilar stood up, trying to divert the conversation. "Have you two had breakfast…?"

"Nana made us pancakes…With strawberries and whippy cream…" Lily giggled.

Pilar shook her head, and thought, oh great, sugar high here we come. "Is Nana still downstairs…?"

Lily grabbed Pilar's hand, and began to run. "Yes mommy…Come on…"

Pilar took Liam's hand and the three went downstairs. Pilar saw her mother sitting on the couch with Nicole. "Good morning Nana…" Pilar arched her eyebrow at her mother.

"Good morning, Bonita…Can I make you pancakes…?"

Lily cut in excitedly. "I want more pancakes, and lots of whippy cream…"

Pilar looked down at Lily. "I think you had enough whippy cream…How about just the pancakes with berries…?"

Maria took Lily and Liam's hands. "Oh, what good are pancakes without the whippy cream…Come with Nana…"

Pilar was about to object, but Nicole put her hand on her shoulder. "Just work with it…You already lost…"

Pilar sat on the couch beside Nicole. "Yeah right…Were we like that…?"

Nicole laughed. "I wasn't, but I remember my shadow loved whippy cream." Nicole's laugh tapered off, and she turned to her sister. "How you holding up…?"

Pilar shrugged her shoulders. "I got to pull it together, Nicole…My kids are suffering because of my heart break over Hunter…They both heard me crying last night, they were so sad this morning…"

Nicole felt like garbage because of her involvement. "They are little and don't understand, but they will…Those little buggers love you…"

"Let's change the subject, no Hunter talk today…Deal…?" Pilar held out her pinky for her and Nicole's secret promise.

Maria poked her head outside to the living room, and she smiled watching her girls laugh, it reminded her of when they were Liam and Lily's age. "Okay, my little Bonita's, come get your pancakes before they get cold…"

An hour later, and a shared stack of Nana's pancakes, the doorbell rang. Pilar looked up at the clock, and held her head. She already knew who it was, the time was 11:00am, and it was Hunter coming to get the children.

Nicole leaned over to her sister and whispered. "I can get it…"

Pilar stood up, and fixed her hoodie. "No…I have to do…" Pilar looked to both children.

Lily struggled to get down from her booster seat. "MOMMY…ITS DADDY…!"

"I know munchkin…." Pilar lifted Lily, and Pilar was instantly being dragged to door. "COMING DADDY…HURRY MOMMY…" Lily squealed.

Pilar picked up Lily and answered the door, there was no good morning to Hunter, only a stare. "DADDY…!" Lily reached wide for Hunter. "Hey Tata tot…" Hunter held his daughter tightly, but was desperately trying to make eye contact with Pilar, but she quickly turned away from him.

"I miss you, Daddy…When you coming back home…?" Lily pouted as she laid her head on Hunter's shoulder.

Pilar was furious at Hunter, but she took the high road. "Baby girl, don't be sad…" Pilar paused as she tickled the sides of Lily. "You know why…Daddy, is taking both you and Liam to…Wait for it…Chuck and Cheese…Yay…"

Lily's eyes became wide, as a big smile crept unto her face. "Really Daddy…?"

Hunter was not expecting that, but he couldn't deny his little girl. "Yes, baby…Maybe Mommy can come with us…?"

Pilar crossed her arms over her chest, and if looks could kill, well let's just say, Hunter would be pushing up daisies. "I wish I could munchkin, but Mommy has to start looking for a job." Pilar didn't want to say it, but Hunter made her so mad.

Liam was behind Pilar, and tugged on her sweat pants. "Mommy, its Saturday…Can't you do it tomorrow…Please…?"

Pilar got down on her knees, and held Liam by his waist. "Baby, I really wish I could go, but Mommy really needs to look for a job…You and your sister will have a great time with your Daddy…Okay…?"

Liam's honey brown eyes began to tear up. "I don't wanna go, if you don't go…"

Pilar hugged her son tightly, as she stared up at Hunter. "Baby, please don't cry…You will have fun with Daddy…I promise…"

Maria came from the kitchen as she was drying her hands. "What is going on…?"

Liam pulled away from Pilar, and ran straight to Maria. "Mommy won't go with us…I want to be like all the other kids…I want my Mommy and Daddy to be together…!" At this time Liam was crying.

Nicole stepped out to the living room, and she took Lily from Hunter. "Come on little princess…Help me pack up your tutus…"

Lily looked at her brother, and frowned. ""Don't cry Li..."

Maria picked up her grandson. "Come on little man…It will work out…Nana will make things better…"

"Howwww…?" Liam struggled to get one word out.

Hunter stepped up and took Liam from Maria. "Liam, look at me…" The small boy looked into his father's mirroring eyes. "Daddy is going to come home soon, but in the meantime, you have to be Daddy's big boy and be the man of the house…Can you do that for me…?"

Liam wiped his red cheeks. "You promise you are coming home…?"

Hunter smiled. "Yes, baby…I promise…"

Maria took Liam back from Hunter, but she stared at Hunter, and it was cold at first, but then it softened. "Come with Nana, and let your parents talk…"

Nicole and Maria brought both children upstairs, once Pilar was certain the coast was clear, she quickly turned to face Hunter. "Have you lost your ever loving mind…? I dare you promise him that…!"

"I'm not promising him anything that isn't going to happen…We just need to talk…" Hunter tried to plead.

"Talk…Talk…About what…How he is going to have a brother or sister…!" Pilar was outraged.

Hunter took a breather. "That is exactly what we need to discuss…"

"This talk should have happened weeks ago…It is too late…" Pilar walked closer to Hunter so she wouldn't have to yell. "This is what is going to happen…We will co-parent, and there will be no more of you coming here to pick them up…I will drop them off and get them…I don't want you in this house or near me…Got that…"

Hunter now losing his patient. "You know what…I am done with you laying down what is going to happen…This is my house, I pay the mortgage and if I want to come here I will…You are being unreasonable because you are pissed off...If you would just listen…!"

Maria came rushing down the stairs. "You two need to stop…Hunter, the children will be right down...Pilar you go into the kitchen…!"

Pilar stared at Hunter one final time, before going into the kitchen. Maria turned to Hunter. "What in God's name has gotten into you…?"

Hunter looked sheepishly. "I'm sorry Maria, but your daughter won't even try to listen to me…"

Maria was praying in her head for strength. "Maybe you should try thinking about how my daughter really feels…I will get the children, and bring them outside for you…"

Hunter watched as Maria went back upstairs. He knew that didn't go the way he wanted, but he just wants to come home and put all of this behind them. He loves his wife, but can't seem to say the right things to fix the problem. His thoughts were stopped by his cell ringing. He looked at the display, and rolled his eyes.

Hunter: Mom…?

Susan: Hello son…Is everything okay…You sound upset…

Hunter: Yes…I'm sorry…What's up...

Susan: Your father and I thought we would surprise you by coming into town…We are at the Marriot as we speak…Thought we could discuss Liam's upcoming Birthday Party…

Hunter: You should have called before you left NH…I have the kids this weekend…

Susan: Can't you have someone watch them for an hour, and then all five of us can have dinner afterwards.

Hunter: I guess…

Susan: Good, your father and I can expect you around 1:00?

Hunter was not in mood to see his parents, but could not be rude: Of course.

Susan: Good, I love you son, and see you soon.

Hunter: Love you too.

As Susan ended her call with Hunter she was happy that phase one of the parents plan is set, now Maria will have to get Pilar to their Hotel room.

Hunter pushed the end button on his cell, and began to stare at the home he once lived in. He couldn't believe that things have gotten this out of hand, and he didn't know how to get through to Pilar.

Lily and Liam came trudging downstairs with their backpacks. Lily reached up for Hunter. "Up Daddy…"

Hunter squatted down, and let the little girl get on his back. "Hold on tight…"

Pilar stepped out of the kitchen. She watched Hunter and Lily, and remembered all the times Hunter would carry Lily around the house that way. She turned to look at Liam, and she could see he was still not quite over what just happened. Pilar went to him, and picked him up. "Okay, little man, time for fun…"

Liam hugged his mother. "Please try to come with us later…"

"We'll see, little man, we'll see…"

Liam squeezed tighter. "Promise…"

Pilar was rushed with so many emotions, anger towards Hunter for being responsible, and sadness for her son. ""Okay, baby…I will stop by and check in on both of you…"

Liam was satisfied with that answer. He maybe younger, but he knows he wants his parents back together. "Good…Love you Mommy…"

Hunter and Pilar walked out together and got the children buckled into Hunter's truck. As Pilar began to walk back into the house, Hunter jogged to catch up with her. "I hope you will really try and stop by…"

"If I do it will be for them, not you…" Pilar started to walk again, but Hunter stopped her.

"Look, I'm sorry for what I said back there in the house…I just want us to get past this, and…"

Pilar put up her hand. "Don't ever pull that with me again, you purposely used our kids to get your way…Just go…"

"Maybe I wouldn't have to do that, if you would just be reasonable and talk to me." Hunter was becoming overwhelmed because he couldn't get Pilar to just do as he wanted.

"Reasonable? You slept with that women, and got her pregnant…What do you expect me to do? Lay down and just accept it, accept you back and make nice with you…Just take the kids and leave…!"

Hunter was about to speak, but it was too late, Pilar quickly went inside and slammed the door. Hunter stood for several seconds, but realized he had the kids waiting. "How in the hell am I going to fix this?" Hunter thought to himself.

Pilar stood leaning her back against the door. She felt her ass vibrate, and she rolled her eyes as she pulled her cell from her hip pocket. As she read the text, she became more distraught. It was from Randy. Text: Sorry about last night…Let me make it up…Meet for dinner…? Randy

Pilar: This is not a good time…Hunter just left with the kids.

Pilar sent the reply and headed upstairs to her Mother and Nicole.

Randy read Pilar's reply. "I'm not giving up, I will make you see that I am the better man, and Hunter is the asshole." Randy thought to himself, and he knew exactly what to do.
