a/n: As some of you know I had some personal problems as of late, and they unfortunately have gone to the worse for me. I prepared this chapter Tuesday before everything happened. Writing has helped me through all of this, it gives me an escape. I'm not sure when I will be able to update again, but please know I will try to as soon as possible. Thank you to all who have sent positive thoughts and well wishes my way, it means the world to me.
Pilar's Home…
Pilar headed upstairs to her bedroom, she opened the door to see her Mother and Nicole sitting on the bed. Both women had a look of worry on their faces, and Pilar words were laced with irritation. "Mama, don't say anything…I know Hunter and I have to do better in front of the kids…"
Maria stood up and faced Pilar. "Yes, but not just for the children, but for yourself too…Bonita, the longer you keep this hurt and pain buried inside, the longer you will not be able to feel better…"
Pilar was about to speak, but her cell phone vibrated again, she crossed her eyes knowing it must be Randy again. As she snatched the cell phone from out of her hip pocket, she sighed heavily. As she read the incoming message, a look of frustration crept onto her face.
Susan: Hello Pilar…Tom and I are here right now, we are staying at the Marriot…We wanted to meet with you regarding Liam's birthday party…We have some ideas on how to make it special for him…Can you stop by? Let's say around 1:15…?
Pilar had the same exact reaction as Hunter, she rolled her eyes, but knew she couldn't take out of her frustrations on her in-laws: Sure…I'll be there…
Susan smiled as phase two was working: Great…We'll see you then…
Pilar: Okay…Talk soon
Pilar hastily shoved her cell back into her pocket. "This day keeps getting better and better…"
Maria looked incredulous. "What's wrong…?"
"My in-laws are in town, and get this, they want to see me to talk about Liam's Birthday party…" Pilar began to stomp into the bathroom, leaving her Mother and Nicole alone.
Nicole walked up to her Mother. "I hope you know what you are doing…Because Pilar is very mad right now…Maybe you should call off whatever it is you have planned…"
Maria scrunched up her face, and held her finger to her mouth trying to quieten Nicole. "Shh…I don't want Pilar to overhear…"
Nicole couldn't help but to think this was going to backfire. "Tell Pilar I will see her later…I can't be a part of this…" Nicole also didn't want to be a part of anymore schemes. She gave her Mother a hug and left, she just hoped that her sister would not completely lose it during this little plan.
As Nicole got into her car, she pulled out her cell and called Randy. She tapped her fingers against the steering wheel as she listened to the annoying ringtone of Metallic.
Randy: Well, I thought you were ignoring me.
Nicole: I'm just going to come out with it…I'm out of this plan…Please just back off from sister.
Randy squeezed his cell phone as the anger brewed through his blood: You're kidding, right…?
Nicole: No, I'm not…This has to stop, my little sister is hurting right now, and I don't want to see her stressed out anymore.
Randy: I'm not giving up on her, and you are not backing out…It is too late…You back out now, I'll tell her you have been conspiring with me and Sable…How do you think Pilar will feel about that? How will the rest of your family feel about you trying to ruin your sister's life…You will be an outcast.
Nicole rolled her eyes as the tears began to sting her eyes: Please Randy, I made a mistake, I wasn't myself.
Randy: Yeah, you were a selfish bitch…Once your family knows, it will only be a matter of time before oh Johnny boy finds out and you will be left alone.
Nicole: YOU LEAVE JOHN OUT OF THIS…YOU HEAR ME!
Randy: I will as long as you continue with the plan, you and I both know that I am the better man. Hunt is selfish, and he is getting what he deserves.
Nicole felt the walls closing in, she wanted out of this plan, but she couldn't risk losing the love of her life: Just leave John alone, I'll call you back.
Randy: Be a good girl, and everything will work out.
Nicole: I hate you…You son of a bitch!
Randy (laughed): Have a good day, Nicole.
Randy hit the end button, and Nicole cried against the steering wheel. She didn't know how she had been so stupid, but better yet, how was she going to stop Randy from pursuing her sister.
Sable's Mansion…
Randy had been outside of Sable's home when he took Nicole's call. He knocked on the large oak door, and a glint of evil sparkled in his eyes.
Sable answered the door, which was surprising, usually it would be the maid. She stood before Randy with a look of fear and panic written on her face. "What do you want…?"
Randy walked past Sable and entered the large expensive living room. "What the hell is wrong with you…?"
Sable picked up a medicine bottle from the coffee table and threw it to Randy. He caught it and read what the medication was, his mouth dropped open. "Prenatal vitamins…Isn't that what you should be taking…?"
Sable snatched the pill bottle back. "No, you idiot…!"
Randy smirked. "So you thought you weren't pregnant, and you really are…Wow, talk about your surprises…"
"I found out this morning when I saw your tech…" Sable spat out.
Randy rubbed the top of his head and looked puzzled. "This is a good thing, right…?"
Sable trying to calm herself in front of Randy, sat down on the couch. "Of course it is…I'm just surprised…I was only using the pregnancy card to buy time to get Hunter back into my bed…"
Randy sat next to Sable and began to read her face. "Don't tell me this isn't Hunt's baby…?"
Sable held her stomach. "Of course it is…I just never wanted to have kids of my own…I had hoped to only pretend to be pregnant…"
"Well irony is funny that way. Listen Sable, this is a good thing…Now you really have leverage over Hunt…"
Sable began to stare off into nothing, as her thoughts were spinning around in her head. "Yeah…"
Randy felt something was off. "Are you sure there is no possibility of some other man being this child's father…?"
"I am not a whore, of course Hunter is the father!" Sable took a deep breathe to calm her excited voice. "Look Randy, you have to step up your game with Pilar, you have to get her into bed with you…That will ensure both of us getting what we want…Hunter would never forgive Pilar if you two had sex…"
Randy continued to study Sable and he didn't like her nervous tone. "I am trying, but Hunt keeps getting her distracted."
"Listen to me very carefully…I have plans and you know that…Hunter will be CEO of the Hospital and that will leave his current job open…If you can get this done quickly for me, Hunter's soon to be old job will be a lock for you…"
Randy definitely liked the sound of becoming the next Chief of Staff, and to make it even sweeter he would have Pilar. A woman he has had a thing for since the day Hunter introduced him to her. "Okay, I can definitely do a better job than Hunt…I'll turn up the heat on Pilar…" Randy reached over to Sable and shook her hand.
Sable smiled with a glint of wickedness. "Perfect…I promise you Randy, we will both get what we want…Hunter will be mine, and Pilar will be yours…"
Marriot Hotel…Susan and Tom's Room…
A sudden knock at the door prompted Susan to gather her thoughts, it was one o'clock and she knew it was Hunter. She opened the door with a huge smile as she hugged Hunter tightly. "Oh, it is so good to see you, Hunter…"
Hunter hugged his mother back, truth be told he really didn't want to be there. He had a feeling his parents weren't there for birthday preparations, but to lecture him on his failed marriage. "Good to see you too…"
Tom came from the bedroom with a half-smile on his face as he watched his son and wife. "Son…" Tom greeted as he patted Hunter on the back.
"Hey Dad…" Hunter walked completely inside and sat down on the couch. "I'm really pressed for time, I don't want to leave the kids for long…What's your thoughts for the Birthday party…"
Susan looked rather nervously. "How about some coffee before we start…?"
Hunter rubbed his hand across his face as he studied his mother. "Okay, Mom…What's wrong…?"
Susan turned to pour the coffee. "Nothing…Always so suspicious…We rarely see you…Can't we just visit for a bit…?"
Tom stood stoically, he was not a man of many words and he felt this whole idea was bad to say the least, but he conceded to do it for his wife's sake. "Son, I'm not going to keep up this charade…We asked you here for all of us to sit down and talk…"
Hunter looked confused. "We…?"
Susan sat down next to Hunter, and placed her hand on his knee, as she spoke softly. "Now don't get mad…Maria and I felt it best if you and Pilar sat down and talked with both sets of parents presented…"
Hunter stood up abruptly, he was furious. "I don't need my parents to fix my problems…I'm a grown man…!"
"Why don't you start acting like it…?" Tom said matter of fact in his husky tone. (For clarifications, I'm using Tom Selleck's character from Blue Bloods, and Susan is Diane Keaton)
Susan stood up between her husband and Son, she was quite tall in her own right, but the two men towered over her. "This is not the way I wanted to start things off…Hunter sit down…!"
Hunter reluctantly sat back down. "This is not going to help me and Pilar…"
"Well son, what you are trying to do isn't working either…" Again, Tom spoke in an even tone.
There was a knock on the door, and Susan jumped slightly. "Now Hunter, just stay seated and listen…Okay…?"
As Susan walked back into the living room area, she had Maria and Michael with her. Michael was the same as Tom, quiet and stoic. Maria was trying to keep her tongue in check, and remember that this was for the good of her family. She couldn't help the anger to build inside as she stared at Hunter, because it was one thing to have an affair, but to produce a child from that affair was difficult for her to accept. Each set of parents said there hello's and they sat in silence as they waited for Pilar.
Hunter could feel all eyes on him, he shifted in his seat slightly. "How is this going to work, if everyone is dissecting me before Pilar even gets here…?"
"No one is doing that, son…We are just trying to keep things peaceful…" Susan looked over to Maria for confirmation. "Right, Maria…?"
"Of course…We only want what is best for the children…" Maria's tone was not the pleasant voice Hunter had become accustomed to.
A knock from the door made each of them jump a little, they all knew it was Pilar. Susan patted Hunter on the knee once more before getting up to answer the door.
As Pilar walked inside after greeting Susan, her eyes stretched wide as she saw her parents and Hunter sitting in the living room area. "What is going on, Susan…?" Pilar asked with a twinge of anger in her voice.
Maria immediately got up and hugged her daughter. "Bonita, the parents thought it a good idea for all of us to sit down and talk things out…"
Pilar folded her arms to her chest, and looked daggers into Hunter. "There is nothing to discuss…And, I don't appreciate being setup…!"
Hunter stood up slowly. "That is not true and you know it…There is plenty to discuss…" Hunter turned back to the parents. "Maybe Pilar and I should just talk alone."
Tom cleared his throat, as he also stood up. "Pilar, I fully understand the upset you are going through, but hiding away is not going to resolve it…"
Michael stood up, and went by his daughter's side. "Baby girl, we are not trying to gang up on you…We only felt that talking things through would maybe help with your pain, help to see things in a different light."
Pilar could feel her blood pressure rising. "Pain..? All of you have no idea what pain I am going through…The man I swore to love and be faithful to for the rest of my life, decided to cheat on me, and to make matters even worst, he fathered a child with this whore…!"
Hunter also becoming infuriated, threw up his hands. "That is just my point, you won't even talk to me and try and make things better…!"
Both Susan and Tom were shocked by Pilar's confession of Hunter fathering another child, but Susan tried getting in between Pilar and Hunter. "This is not helping…Pilar, please just let Hunter try and explain…"
Pilar narrowed her eyes. "So, now I am the blame for this…Your son goes outside of our marriage and fathers another child, and I'm the one that is wrong…!"
Maria put her hands around the back of Pilar's shoulders. "Bonita, no one is saying you are the blame, it is the opposite…Hunter made a mistake…"
Susan cut in. "With all due respect Maria, my son deserves to at least be heard…We don't know why this happened, but Pilar needs to at least be opened minded…"
Michael could see what was coming next, Maria was going into "Mother Bear Mode", and he couldn't blame her, but he also knows his daughter and son in-law need to talk for themselves. "ENOUGH….ALL OF YOU…!"
Tom stood up and went by Michael's side. "He is right…This problem can only be resolved by Pilar and Hunter…And quite honestly, we as their parents cannot be objective…"
Hunter finally able to cut in. "Pilar, can we talk inside of the bedroom…?"
Pilar stared at Hunter which felt like an eternity. "No we cannot…Whatever you need to say, just say it now…!"
Tom stood behind Pilar, and his voice was a little softer. "Pilar, I have always told you the truth, and I think of you as one of my own…You and Hunter need to be alone, and I'm going to make sure of it…Just trust me…"
Tom began to usher the other three parents into the bedroom. He turned back to look at his son. "You two talk to each other, if you need us, we will be right in the bedroom…"
Tom barely shut the bedroom door, and Maria started blasting. "I am a God fearing woman, and I believe in forgiveness, but Hunter has to own up to his part and not just expect my daughter to accept a mere halfhearted apology…There is another child coming into this world, that he and my daughter did not make…Ay dios mios…!"
Michael placed his arm around his wife to comfort her. "Mi Armor, you mean well, but Tom is right, our children have to make their own mistakes and we have to step back and let them work it out…If that is meant to be…It may not be God's will for them to get back together, only God himself knows…"
Susan stepped forward, and consoled Maria. "Our husbands are right, we met well, but clearly we as their parents cannot be objective…Each of us are going to protect our own child…"
Maria shook her head in agreement. "I didn't mean to come off so nasty, I love Hunter, and I truly wanted them to make up…What threw me over the edge is the baby, and how hurt my daughter was last night…She was defeated and crushed…"
Tom pulled out a bottle of brandy from the nightstand, and began pouring the four of them a drink. "We are going to sit here as long as it takes…When it is over, we will continue to support our children…Agreed…?"
The other three parents raised their glasses to toast to that. "Agreed..." They all spoke in unison.
Meanwhile back in the Living Room…
Hunter decided to test the waters first. "Okay, it is you and me…Can we please just try and talk…?"
Pilar stood with no emotion. "It is so funny how you want to talk now that your little whore blew the whistle on you…!"
Hunter sighed from irritation. "First off that child is not mine…And Sable means nothing to me…!"
Pilar had a look of fury. "How do you even know that…You fucked her right…!?"
"For fucks sake, I used condoms…It is impossible for that child to be mine…Do you honestly think I would be that stupid to have unprotected sex with her…!"
Pilar's eyes bored into Hunter's. "You know what I do know…If you hadn't fucked her, it wouldn't even be a possibility that you were in the running to be that child's father…But you did, so here we are…!"
Hunter placed his hands firmly on Pilar's arms. "Will you listen to me…That child is not mine…She is lying…I swear to you…!"
Pilar began to struggle with Hunter to get free, and her eyes began to fill up. "I can't believe you…You don't even get it…You fucked that women with no regard for me or our children…Ever since this has come out, I have been humiliated and made look like a fool…" The sobs now mingled into her voice. "You hurt me Hunter, more than any other person has done…I love you with all my heart and would never cheat on you…NEVER…!"
"I love you too…" Hunter said softly, as he tugged on her to attempt to hug her.
"I can't be with you, not if there is another baby out there…I just can't look past that…!"
It was hitting Hunter, he was slowly losing the love of his life. Hunter's voice had a slight tremble to it. "You don't mean that…"
"I do, you hurt me to the core…God Hunter, we lost a baby last year…A baby, remember that…And now you have fathered another baby with that two faced slut…"
That struck Hunter in the gut. "Of course I remember that…We mourned over that baby together…I swear to you Sable is lying…"
Pilar pulled all the way back from Hunter. "Hunter, you are so lost right now…The man I married would never have cheated on me, especially for a lousy promotion…The sad thing is, I asked you over and over if there was something else you needed to tell me, and you said, NO…It is too late, there is no getting back together, not with this baby on the way…"
Hunter knew he was running out of options, and he was becoming more and more frustrated. "So, if I would have told you from the start, things would have been different…How…?"
"I would have felt you were being honest and you respected me…Now I feel like you are trying to manipulate me…Matter of fact, everything you have done since that affair has been manipulative…"
"I have only wanted to protect you, because I know she is lying…I know I haven't earned it, but you have to trust me on this…"
Pilar wiped her eyes. "Trust you…? Trust is a two way street, and you don't trust me…You thought I tried to kill myself…I would never do that to myself or our children…!"
Hunter looked up towards the ceiling, he couldn't face that, because she was right. He should have been more on her side. "I'm…"
He didn't get a chance to finish, as Pilar cut in. "Don't say you are sorry…You have just discounted me at every turn…My love and faith in you should have been enough for you to tell me everything and to believe that something very fishy happened with those drugs ending up in my system…You were just going around trying to cover up everything, and you made it worse…!"
Hunter looked back down at Pilar. "I accept my blame…But what about you…You and Orton…!" Hunter couldn't help himself but to go on the defensive, trying to take the spotlight off of him.
Pilar laughed sarcastically. "You just can't help yourself from being an asshole…THERE IS NOTHING GOING ON WITH RANDY AND I…IF YOU HAD KEPT YOUR DICK OUT OF SABLE, RANDY WOULDN'T EVEN BE AN ISSUE…RANDY HAS GIVEN UP EVERYTHING TO BE HERE WITH YOU, NOT ME…!"
Hunter became red in the face. "OH, THAT IS RICH…RANDY HAS BEEN SNIFFING AROUND YOU SINCE HE KNEW WE WERE DIVORCED…HE WANTS YOU AND HE WILL NOT STOP UNTIL HE GETS YOU…HE HAS ALWAYS HAD A THING FOR YOU…!"
Pilar got into Hunter's face. "WHY ARE WE DIVORCED…?"
Hunter pressed his lips together because she had him there. Pilar glared at Hunter. "Yeah…You having an affair is why we are divorced…So don't try and throw shade on me, because I haven't done anything, but be loyal to you…And where has that gotten me…? I tell you, foolish and broken hearted…I'm done…!"
Hunter desperate to get his wife back, grabbed Pilar by arm, and pressed his lips to hers. Pilar struggled to get free, as she felt herself wanting to reciprocate the kiss. The kiss became a war of the tongues as their bodies slowly molded together.
The temperature was rising within both of their bodies. Hunter continued to hold Pilar against his body, as his hands wandered down to her buttocks. Pilar loved him so much, her body felt hot, and her hands roamed along his neck. Hunter could feel himself getting hard, and so could Pilar. Hunter began backing Pilar over to the couch, but that all familiar heartache crept back up, and Pilar pulled away violently, and then shoved Hunter in the chest. "Don't you ever kiss me again…You lost that right...!"
Hunter watched as Pilar grabbed her jacket. "You kissed me back, and don't deny it…We both felt it…We can work this out, you can't fight what is between us…!"
Pilar turned to face Hunter, and her eyes were glassed over again. "Yes I did…" She swallowed hard. "But it won't happen again…I can't let you back into my life…I can't let you break my heart anymore...It is too late for us…You have a child on the way that you need to think about…"
Hunter looked into her eyes, and his heart for once through this whole ordeal felt a sharp tightening, like a grip pulling his heart out. He attempted to go after her, but she quickly ran out of the hotel room sobbing and she slammed the door. "PILAR…WAIT...DAMMIT…!" Hunter yelled as he slammed his fist against the door.
The two sets of parents came out of the bedroom, and each looked at their spouses as to say oh my God, how do our children fix this?
