Massachusetts General…Dr. Shepherd's Office

As Pilar walked down the corridor of her old workplace, she noticed all the changes that had taken place, new flooring, new paint, and new faces at the front desk. She had been told about these changes by Natalya and Derek, but it was still a little shocking to see. Pilar had been told that these changes were implemented by Sable and of course her new yes man, Hunter. Sable was letting Hunter have his way with his new found Kingdom, anything she thought that would make him more under her control, the better. It has been one month removed since Pilar's ordeal with Randy, and things have been as she expected. Nicole and Derek continuing to urge her to contact the Police and report her rapist, and her refusing. Pilar had to do this for her children, they had to come first, she didn't want them growing up constantly worrying about her wellbeing, no she wanted to be strong for them. Hunter however was the real surprise during all of this, because the day after her attack he was at her doorstep with accusations of her sleeping with Randy and his obvious feelings of being betrayed. Unfortunately, with the rape being so fresh at the time of her fight with Hunter, it left Pilar in a state of disbelief and anger towards the whole situation with her ex-husband. But, one constant for her was that she would no longer go on being a victim for Hunter, she was going to place her priorities were they belonged, and those priorities were her children. She was here today at the Hospital upon Dr. Shepherds' request, this had been the second time within ten days that Pilar had been by to speak with him, so she was already prepared. Dr. Shepherd wanted Pilar to fight for her old job back, he felt it was unjust and highly unethical in the manner that she was fired.

Pilar knocked two times on the office door, and was quickly greeted by Derek. "Come on in…"

Pilar was taken aback as another gentleman was sitting in Derek's office, she had never seen this man before, but he looked very important. The gentleman looked quite distinguished with his salt and pepper hair. The man stood up as he extended his hand to Pilar. "You look stunned…Please don't be, my name is Attorney Shane McMahon…"

Pilar looked to Derek and arched her eyebrow. "What is this all about…?"

Derek grinned as he joined Shane on the couch. "Please sit down, Pilar…"

Pilar sat in a chair facing straight ahead towards both men. "I hope Dr. Shepherd hasn't wasted your time…?"

Shane chuckled a bit, before opening his brief case. "Not at all…Derek has taken the liberty of giving me a background of your firing here at the hospital, and I think we have a case."

Pilar narrowed her eyes as she looked at Derek. She was definitely not expecting such a thing. "I'm sorry Mr. McMahon, but I have no interest in getting my old job back." Pilar now started to leave, but Shane stopped her.

"Now hold on a minute…I understand that your ex-husband is now Chief of Staff and he obtained this position under very dubious circumstances…And now his ex-mistress is your boss…? You most certainly have more than one case here…"

Derek couldn't help but to smile, he has become more than sick and tire of watching Hunter and Sable parade around this hospital with no regard for anyone but themselves. If Sable's father was fully recovered from his heart condition and was back in the US, Derek would have already told his longtime friend of the despicable behavior of his daughter. Since he couldn't do that, he figured hitting the spoiled brat where it hurts would have to do for now. "Just hear Shane out, I think you will see this is best for everyone…"

Pilar reluctantly sat back down. "Go ahead…"

Shane smiled. "You see, Ms. Mero had no grounds for termination other than personal jealous, in other words it was a wrongful termination and it has been well documented and we have witnesses…Also, you have a case for Alienation of affection…This woman is screwed, and you can be the one to make it happen..."

Pilar's eyes widened. "I can't do that….I'm not sure what you know Mr. McMahon, but recent events have made me consider other employment…"

Shane sat on the edge of the couch, and showed Pilar the paperwork. "Mrs. Helmsley you have two cases that are very winnable, but I feel neither will have to go to trial once I sit down with the Hospital Attorneys…You see, most large organizations shy away from bad publicity and will do whatever it is to make sure things are good for both parties….Outcome would be getting you reinstated and probably a very lucrative settlement from Ms. Mero…"

Derek could see that Shane was not fully convincing Pilar, he felt they needed to have a one on one for Pilar to fully get behind Shane. Derek stood up and faced Shane. "Can you give Pilar and I a chance to discuss this, and I will call you later?"

"Of course…" Shane gathered his paperwork, and gave Pilar his card before leaving.

Once Shane had left, Pilar abruptly stood up. "Derek, I can't do this…I don't want this and you know the reasons why…"

Derek guided Pilar to sit back down. "I know you have said you want nothing to do with this Hospital, but I feel it is a mistake letting Hunter win. You have done nothing wrong…Hunter is the one who has betrayed you…Why let him continue to win? You having a promising career as a Doctor, don't let Hunter and Sable steal that away from you or your children…"

Pilar twisted her hands together, she has not told Derek who her rapist is, nor did she want to. But, something was starting to click with Pilar, why should she let Randy win too, because that is exactly what he is doing, he is stopping her from what she loves doing which is being a doctor. And, why should she put her head down in shame, Hunter cheated on her and now his ego has gotten big as the state of Texas. Enough was enough. "Derek, I appreciate everything you are doing for me, and I'm not quite sure why…"

"Let me stop you right there…Your right I don't know you that well, but I know enough that you have been dealt a shit load of unjust from Hunter and Sable, besides that, this Hospital needs order back…My friend Dan Mero has an outstanding reputation and is a good person, his only flaw is spoiling his bitch of a daughter…If things continue the way they are, Dan will have nothing to come back to…"

Pilar now saw something in Derek, a man who is trying to good for his friend's legacy and for her…She wanted to do this, but she didn't want to make a snap decision. "Derek, I will think about it…" She got up to leave, but turned back to face him. "And, thank you for believing in me, it means a lot these days…"

As Pilar walked out of Derek's office she came face to face with what Nataly has been telling her. Hunter has become very friendly with Sable, and now the baby is showing. Pilar adjusted her suit jacket as she walked towards the elevator. But of course this was not unnoticed by Hunter, he was well aware of his ex-wife meeting with Derek, and that this was the second time in ten days.

Hunter excused himself from Sable and another Doctor, and made a beeline towards Pilar. "Is your next stop to see Randy…?"

Pilar tossed her hair over her shoulder, and for the first time she did not have anger on her face when she looked at Hunter. "No…And, why or who I see is none of your business…Shouldn't you be more concerned about how Sable is looking daggers into your back…?"

Hunter did in fact know that, because Randy was off today, but he couldn't help himself for wanting to know why Pilar was seeing Derek. "It is my business while I'm still paying alimony…"

Pilar wanted so badly to rip Hunter a new one, but she thought better of it as she smiled about her recent meeting with Shane. "Alimony could become the least of your problems…"

Hunter looked puzzled by her words, and annoyed that he didn't accomplish what he set out for which was annoying her. "What the hell is that supposed to mean, you have your eyes on another surgeon…?"

Pilar turned to Hunter, and her stare was cold. "I should be asking you, where is Hunter and who is the asshole impersonating him…?"

That struck a nerve in Hunter. "I'm the asshole? You slept with Randy knowing damn well what that would do to us…!"

Pilar fought back her tears, she hated how Hunter has been through all of this. "I told you that is a lie, but as usual you believe everyone but me…!" Pilar gathered her emotions and pushed on. "I know I have made mistakes, but you have never taken my side with anything since this whole mess has started…Never once have you given me the benefit of the doubt…All you do is believe Sable because she has promised you the world…The keys to Kingdom...I was willing to forgive you and move on, but then after several times of me begging you to tell me the truth, I get publically humiliated that Sable is pregnant…You should have told me first, but no, you were trying to manipulate me and fix everything…Please just stay away from me…!"

Hunter tightened his jaws, he knew she was right, but things are spiraling. He has not slept with Sable again, but has led her on to think it will happen. He was furious when he heard Randy's confession of being with Pilar. But even though he was so angry and hurt that day, he stopped the kiss from going any further than that. But since that day, he and Sable have been spending more time together outside of the hospital, if he turns his back on her now, what will happen, but on the other hand, how will he go on trying to forget about Pilar, he couldn't forget her and he knew why, because he still loved her and always will. Before his mouth could catch up with his thoughts, the elevator doors were shutting with Pilar on the other side of them.

This was a disaster, but Hunter's anger was going to be unleashed, and he knew exactly where to go to do. He quickly approached Derek's office and did not wait to be announced. "We need to talk right fucking now…!"

Derek slowly ended his phone call, and stood up in complete annoyance of Hunter's rudeness. "What the hell is wrong with you…?"

Hunter stalked closer to Derek's desk, and then leaned on it. "You need to watch yourself Dr. Shepherd…You don't want to piss me off and get on my bad side...!"

Derek ran his fingers through his hair, and narrowed his eyes. "Are you threatening my job…?"

Hunter straightened himself upright, and then smirked. "You catch on fast for an idiot asshole…"

Derek now had a smile of his own, because he knew where this was coming from, Hunter must have seen Pilar leave his office. "Why don't you tell me the real reason you are here…Could it be that you are mad your ex-wife is not caving in from shame from your pathetic actions…?"

Hunter now stood stoically. "I knew you were up to something with her when I found out she was here last week…She has no business at this hospital and she definitely has no reason to see you...You are trying to get to her because you think it will bother me...If that is your deal you are wasting your fucking time, so stay the hell away from her...!"

Derek shrugged his shoulders. "Oh my god, why do you care…? You have made no secret of your new found relationship, I must say though, you being a "yes man" is definitely not a becoming feature…"

"You son of bitch, you are just jealous of me and are trying to use Pilar to get to me…News flash, it won't work because you are not smart enough to beat me, obviously because I am Chief of Staff…!"

Derek poured himself a cup of coffee, and sat down again. "Jealous…? Not quite, I would never go for that old "Brass Ring" by becoming some spoiled brat's "yes man", no my friend, you are the one that is losing this battle all on your own…"

Hunter was becoming livid. "You don't know shit about me…But, I tell you this, I hold your future in my hands, and if you defy me, you will be sorry you ever decided to come to Boston…!"

Derek could shake Hunter, but he knew that would never happen. "What happened to the reputation of the great Dr. Helmsley…? I use to hear stories about how you were a rebel with a cause and didn't give a fuck…Now what I see is a corporate sell out, what happened to you man…?"

Hunter undid his tie. "I'm still that rebel that can kick your ass…" Hunter took a stance back and stared deadly at Derek. "I smartened up…I know that I am god in an operating room, but I am so much more than that and I went for it…Something that you didn't have the balls for….You think I didn't know that you and daddy Mero were friends and he was going to hand you this job…I said fuck that and went for what I deserved, for what I have worked my ass off for…!"

"You have serious issues if you think Dan was just going to hand anything to me because we were friends, the man does not operate his business that way…" Derek shook his head as his face became red. "You are such a self-absorbed asshole, you had a wonderful wife and great kids and you figured because she loved you so much she would just swallow your crap…Instead of being grateful and try to fix things, you make them worst and continue on with that slut, Sable…You have no idea who you are dealing with, Sable has had many like you before, and if you double cross her, she will dump you like yesterday's old bread and find a new sucker…You fucked up turning your back on Pilar and now it is eating you up inside...!"

Hunter had heard enough because he figured he is better than any man Sable has dealt with, and he could keep her in check. The only problem he had was Pilar and how he screwed up his marriage. "You are talking out of the side of your ass…You don't know what I am capable of, and you damn sure don't know anything about my marriage…!"

Derek laughed mockingly. "I know that you fucked up and are now sorry and don't know how to fix this mess…I know that your ex-wife has been through hell and you walk around like you are the victim...I tell you this, when it is all said and done, and Sable has tired of you, don't say you weren't warned…!"

Hunter stared at Derek, he wasn't going to say a loud that in fact he had fucked up where Pilar was concerned, but it still pissed him off about Randy. "Just stay away from Pilar, and stop trying to analyze me…This time next year I will be on the board of directors, and I might not feel confident about your abilities after this conversation…Think about your future Derek, because it may become short lived...!"

"Oh, I can't wait until this time next year…" Derek began flipping through his files, he had said enough and didn't want to mistakenly give anything away. But, if Pilar goes through with these lawsuits, well Hunter may have wished he never met Sable.

Hunter walked out of Derek's office and felt even madder than when he walked in. He still loved Pilar, but his ego would not allow him to swallow his pride and make things right. He went off on Pilar the next day he found out about Randy, and he was quite cruel by the words he used. Basically, he told her he believed that she slept with Randy, and did it to spite him. The words flew out of his mouth because he felt betrayed, now that he has had many a sleepless night thinking about it, he questions what really happened. But with a month now gone by and him playing up to Sable, he just didn't know how to fix this mess. "How the fuck did things get so bad? How have I allowed myself to turn on Pilar? Better question is it too late, have I lost the woman I love to that asshole Randy or now Derek? Can I have everything I worked for and Pilar? Was Derek telling the truth about Sable, has she had many more before me and she is trying to play me? No, I won't allow her to do that, she is dealing with someone that she has never come up against, you know you can work her." Hunter laughed to himself with that last statement, but then Pilar's face flashed in his head as she has done so many times during this past month. "Shit Hunter, you have to do something here or you will regret it, but what?"

Meanwhile...

Pilar hurriedly got into her truck, but before she started it, she sat and fumed over the conversation she and Hunter just had. "I'm done being the victim to Hunter and his hatefulness, I need to start making things right for me." Pilar pulled out her cell phone and called the cell number of Shane McMahon. As she eagerly awaited for him to answer, she continued to think of everything that has happened to her. "Hello Mr. McMahon...Sorry, Shane...I'd like to hear more about my chances with those potential lawsuits...Yes, I can meet you tomorrow, and thank you..."

Pilar ended the call and sighed a breath of relief as today was the beginning of taking her power and self respect back.
