The Jade and Onyx Arc

The Exposed

Green glanced up from his laptop, blinking as Blue came down the hallway, blanket around her shoulders, flicking through a tome that Onyx had given him earlier. Green sighed.
"You do realize that's supposed to be a secret, correct?" he said as she plopped down next to him. She waved her hand dismissively.
"It doesn't make much sense, anyways." she said.
He responded by reaching over and plucking the book from her grasp. Blue whined, glaring at him.
"Don't go through my things." Green said stoically.
"You're mean, Green." Blue whined, tears brimming around her eyes. "Meanie-Greeny!"
"And you're foolish, Blue." he responded.
"They're gonna find out eventually." she shrugged. "I don't see why Onyx is so bent on keeping it a secret. I mean, yeah, holy shit, a friend you've known for Arceus knows how long has wizarding powers. I'd flip too. But hey, Yellow has powers too," she pointed to her ears. "So how is this any different?"
"Considering that Yellow has no physical attributes to go with her powers may be a problem." Green stated, typing something on his computer. "And it may also boil down to the fact that we've got an obviously dangerous group hunting people like Onyx and myself down."
"So now you trust Onyx?" Blue said with a sly smile.
"No." Green responded. "But I know that I don't trust Andrew or Kristoff."
"Who would?" Blue shrugged. "What're you researching, anyways?"
"Gijinka's." he said. "All I've found so far was silly fanart, stupid fanfictions, and some... less than savory websites."
"Don't tell me you found pictures of porn." Green averted his gaze, feeling his face heat up. "You did!" Blue laughed.
"It was only a moment and it was an accident." Green muttered in defense. "And I swear if you tease me about this, I'll... I'll figure out a way to spell you into silence." Blue rolled her eyes, looking over his shoulder at the laptop.
"Sorrows..." she murmured, reading the title and the brief summery. "By Amy47101? Oh, I read this one! She began rewriting it a month or two back. It's really good!"
"It's nothing but fiction." Green sighed, clicking the back button.
"Well, did you find anything useful?"
"Some legends and such." Green said, pulling up a bookmarked page. "There was a huge pique of interest back in the seventies, but it ended around the nineties when science became more advanced and it was 'proven' that they were just legends. In the past few years, they were something akin to legendary pokémon like Celebi: sightings and the occasional rare, albeit, blurry, photo."
"It would be nice if we knew where we originated." Blue murmured, leaning back on his shoulder. He shifted slightly, not entirely uncomfortable with her movement, though slightly annoyed. "How are you doing with all of this?"
"I'm fine."
"Liar." Blue closed her eyes. "You were just told that you were made into some wizard thing, and you're 'fine'?"
"I'm curious as of who did this to me, but there's no use dwelling on it now. What happened, happened. We need to move forward and figure out how to hide Onyx's ears."
"Whatever, Meanie-Greeny."

The next morning, Onyx woke up Green at four thirty, dragged them out to the forest with a bright grin on his face.
"So explain to me again," Green murmured, rubbing his eyes as he yawned. "Why you woke us up to early?"
"For this!" Onyx tossed a book to Green
"I'm supposing this is a spell book or something." Green said, flicking through the pages.
"Yep." Onyx smiled. "Let's start with some basic things. The illusion spell that I use to hide ears and tails are the basic of the basic. Of course, there are stronger illusions, like..." he waved his hand through the air, and suddenly, Silver appeared next to him.
"Hey." it spoke, though it's voice was extremely high pitched, making it humorous. Onyx blinked, then laughed.
"Yeah, still working on that one." he said, waving his hand, the Silver copy disappearing.
"Is there any weaknesses to magic?" Green asked, glancing up from the book.
"Mirrors." Onyx said immediately. "Mirrors reveal the truth. Magic is nothing but an illusion. Mirrors can reflect back magic spells. The only thing that can really break spells is reflecting water." he paused. "Not tap, though. It has to be a natural source of water, like an ocean or a river or something."
"And that makes sense how?" Green asked, raising an eyebrow.
"You just asked me the weaknesses behind magic, Green. It's not supposed to make sense. It's just the rules."

"So here's what I think we should do." Onyx said with a determined nod of his head as he looked up from his laptop. "We need a game plan. Thankfully, I'm a thousand times smarter than those stupid detectives, and Jade's no dummy.
"We're going to split into groups again by region, then send you off in four different directions. I want Gold, Silver, and Crystal to go west, Sapphire, Ruby, and Emerald north, Platinum, Pearl, and Dia east, and Black and White will head south. I want you to search every town, every nook and cranny, and get as much information as possible. They shouldn't be able to leave the region, so don't try to cross the borders. Keep in touch via pokégear. Any information you get, send it over."
"Who's gonna watch Red?" Yellow asked, biting her thumb nail. Onyx smirked, then winked at her.
"You can take that duty, Yellow. I'm pretty sure they aren't going to make a move against him anytime soon, and if they do, you should be strong enough to handle it." Yellow bit her bottom lip nervously, then nodded, a new determination in her eyes. Onyx continued, quickly typing something into his computer. "Right now, I'm trying to hack into the mainstream video systems, but I'm having trouble getting over this one block. Until I can gain control of the video systems, I'm not leaving the city."
"Then Green and I will stay here with you." Blue offered.
"That would be appreciated, thanks." Onyx said. There was a long silence.
"Um, since we're heading south," White said, standing up. "Would you like Black and I to check up on your sister in Cinnabar?" There was a long and heavy silence. Onyx didn't say anything, though his fists clenched tightly as he stared intently at the laptop in front of him.
"Although I would prefer to be the first to see her," Onyx sighed, reaching into his pocket and unclipping a pokéball from his belt. "This is Olga, her first pokémon." Onyx said, tossing it to White. "And this is Emo, my first pokémon. Show them to her and tell her that you're my friend. Then bring her back here, if you can."
"We will." White promised.
"Don't confront Kristoff or Andrew if you spot them." Onyx continued with a serious look on his face. "Follow them and see where they are staying. That's probably where Jade is. If they attack you, run. Everyone understand?"
A chorus of yes's rang throughout the room.
"Sweet." Onyx grinned. "Operation, Rescue Jade is a go, then."

Opal turned in front of the mirror, smiling at the reflection of the girl staring back. She didn't so much look like a frail little thing about to collapse from the slightest bump. In fact, she looked a bit healthier. Color had returned to her skin, and she was clean.
"You really learn to appreciate," Opal thought with a smirk. "The simple things after jail time."
She wouldn't exactly say that she was a vain person, but being able to wear clothing that fit her properly was a plus. Now, instead of baggy prison garb that was torn and ragged, she was donned in a white T-shirt with a black skirt, chains around her hips, acting like loose belts, with a little silver cross pin holding them in place. Dark gray socks that came up to her thighs were under black combat boots, and a black tie was around her neck, loosely knotted.
Happy with the ensemble, she began to work at tying her hair up into two pigtails at the nape of her neck, but paused as her hands brushed her ears.
Opal remembered quite a few things clearly before she was teleported here. She remembered a crumbling building housing children, a pale blond girl with Glaceon ears that ruled over them, her brother, Onyx, and his Flareon ears, and a boy with Leafeon ears. Sometimes she felt flashes of strange emotions; betrayal, heartbreak, sorrow, rage, and so on. She remembered her last birthday, her twelfth, when she was happy and smiling and trying to trick her brother into kissing the blond girl, though unsuccessful. She remembered loud, booming music, laughing, beer bong with root beer...
Then an explosion and everything was blank. She couldn't remember the blonds name, nor a thing about the Leafeon boy outside of his Leafeon attributes. But she had a feeling, deep, deep down, that both were important in some way, shape, or form.
She just couldn't figure out why.
"Opal?" she looked over at Blaine, who held out a black fedora with a white band. Opal smiled, opting to put her hair into two pigtails tied under her ears, and slapped the fedora on to hide her ears. "Have you remembered anything else?"
"Not really." the fifteen-year-old shook her head. "Everything after my twelfth birthday is a blur of sounds and colors."
"I see..." Blaine trailed off. Both stood thoughtfully a moment, when there was a sudden knock on the door. Blaine cocked his head, then went down the stairs to see who it was. Opal trailed behind him, watching as he opened the door. On the other side was a blond guy with a small smile on his face.
"Opal?" he addressed her, and she stepped forward, curious as to how he knew her name.
"Can I help you?" she asked, crossing her arms defensively, raising an eyebrow. Something about him was... off.
He smiled slightly.
"Your brother sent me to come pick you up."

"Green Bean, c'mere."
Green raised an eyebrow at Onyx, looking up from the tome that the flareon-boy had given him earlier. He had been practicing on Onyx, and thus far managed to make his ears and tail disappear for fifteen minutes. Onyx called it 'impressive' for a person of his caliber to accomplish that so quickly, all while staring at his computer screen.
To say that anything productive has happened since the other dexholders left was saying something. Honestly, Onyx has done literally nothing since the other dexholders left, outside of tapping away on his computer. Blue left with Yellow to go to visit Red, pretty much leaving the two in silence.
"'Green Bean'?"
"Yeah. I just thought of it." Onyx said. "Lay on that couch there. Esmeralda's gonna see if we can predict wear Jade is-"
"Hold on a moment." Green interrupted. "What are you planning to do, exactly?"
"Future Sight." Onyx stated simply. "It's perfectly safe. Esmeralda will link her mind with Greens and see if we can get a vision of what's going to happen in the future. It might give us an insight on what may happen to Jade or where she may be. It's a very delicate process though, so if there's any interruptions, it might cause some, well... brain damage?"
"Thanks for the convincing speech there, Onyx." Green muttered under his breath. "First you say it's perfectly safe, then you say it causes brain damage."
"I said if there are any interruptions, it causes brain damage." Onyx corrected with a grin. "So as long as, oh, I dunno, Blue doesn't come back and decide to snuggle with you, everything should be juuuust peachy."
There was a long pause. Onyx continued to grin happily with his eyes closed.
"How did you know that?" Green asked in a low tone. Onyx opened his eyes, cocking his head to the side with a sly, mischievous smile on his face.
"How did I know what?" he grinned. Green mentally cursed. Onyx was baiting him! "Did you and Blue do the naughty dance the night the Grievers attacked us? If so, congratulations! When will I meet my godchild?"
"One, no, we did not do the 'naughty dance'." Green muttered through clenched teeth. "Two, if I were to ever have kids, I wouldn't name you as their godfather. And three, if I ever were to have kids, it Blue would never be the mother."
Onyx simply laughed.
"Not to self," Onyx grinned. "Green Bean doesn't like sex jokes, he doesn't have a sense of humor, and he's in complete denial."
"Are we gonna do this future sight thing or what?" Green shot back at him.
"Just as soon as you lie down, Green Bean."

"He's looking a little better." commented Blue with a smile. She had managed to pin up her tail under the shirt, though it was insanely uncomfortable and she longed to take the stupid thing off so she could have it free again. Yellow nodded. "I mean, it could've been worse. Look at what Kristoff did to Onyx."
"Yeah, but I healed Onyx." Yellow murmured, wringing her hands. "I tried healing Red, or at least speeding along the process of his healing, but it's not working. I'm trying to figure out the difference, why he won't wake up, but I can't understand why..."
"Maybe you're not advanced enough to heal humans yet." Blue mused. "Onyx is, you know..."
"I know." Yellow stated.
"And besides, it's a coma due to shock, right? Isn't shock, like, a psychological thing? Maybe you can only heal physical injuries, and the reason he won't wake up is because it's a psychological issue."
"Maybe." Yellow murmured, reaching out to hold Reds hand in her own.
"It's gonna be okay, you know."
"I know."
"I wonder what happened to Turquoise." Blue continued on absentmindedly. "The minute Onyx attacked Kristoff, she took off. I hope she's alright."
"Worried about her?" Yellow asked.
"Just curious, is all." Blue shrugged.
"I'm curious about someone too." Yellow said. "You didn't get to meet him. His name is Orange. He's apparently blocking Kristoff and Andrew from leaving Kanto."
"Weird. A spell caster, maybe?"
"He said he was a Forest Child." Yellow said, resting her chin in her other hand, closing her eyes.
"Like you?"
"Like me."
"Okay, double weird. Isn't there like a rule thingy about how many forest kids will be born every number of years?"
"Ten years. Lance was before me, and then there was me."
"How old was Orange?"
"Around Eighteen or so." Yellow sighed. "He's thirteen years to old to be a Forest Child."
"Triple weird." Blue said, crossing her arms. "Turquoise was a gijinka too. I couldn't tell if she was artificial or natural though." Yellow chuckled slightly.
"Seems we're meeting all sorts of strange characters." she mused.
"Yeah." Blue responded. There was nothing but the sound of the heart monitor. Yellow was rubbing little circles on the back of Red's hand with her thumb. Blue stood. Yellow looked at her, startled. "I'm going back to make sure Green hasn't murdered Onyx yet."
"Alright." Yellow responded. "See you soon."
"Yeah."
Blue quickly exited the hospital. She could feel her tail flicking against the back of her shirt, trying to break free, and it was going from uncomfortable to annoying, real fast. So she speed walked/ran to the hotel, took the stairs because the elevator seemed to go agonizingly slow, and came to the enormous penthouse. She eased open the door, about ready to make her presence known as she shed the annoying sweatshirt, allowing her tail to swing freely, when she heard a certain sentence that made her stop in her tracks.
"Did you two do the naughty dance the night the Grievers attacked us?" She could practically see Onyx's grin. "If so, congratulations! When will I meet my godchild?"
"One, no, we did not do the 'naughty dance'." she heard Green respond through clenched teeth. Aw, he was annoyed and embarrassed. "Two, if I were to ever have kids, I wouldn't name you as their godfather. And three, if I ever were to have kids, Blue would never be the mother."
Blue paused, her giggling, happy mood gone. That... actually hurt a little bit.
She didn't really do anything for a moment, simply stood there, reviewing those words in her head. Never? Blue didn't think she would be that bad... She bowed her head for a moment.
"You're being stupid, Blue." she murmured to herself. She didn't care what anyone thought. She especially didn't care what Green, the stupid killjoy, thought.
She didn't care at all.

He stared overhead, a blinding light over his head as he laid on a cold metal table in a hospital gown. Someone was leaning over him, though the light was so bright he looked like nothing but a dark shadow figure.
"What...? Philip, you better get over here!"
"What is it?"
"Look." Another shadow appeared overhead.
"By Arceus, he's alive."
He looked at the two, heart beating frantically. What was going on? Who were these people? Where... Where was his mom? His dad? He was scared! He wanted to go home!
"What on earth...?!"
"He's loosing control!"
"Kill him! Arceus, kill him now!"
"No, he's my-!"
Gah-!
