Their breathing was becoming uneven and the heat in the room felt suddenly suffocating.

Were they really going to go through with it? They both wanted it, there was no denying it. Well, Kensi didn't remember exactly for how long she badly wanted this, but Deeks was overflowing with desire.

He had lost count how many times he threw some humorous quotes just to hide his attraction to that woman.

He was drawn to her since the first time he laid eyes on her. Back then when he was Jason and she was Tracy. Man, she had him hooked up from the very beginning. She was mysterious and alluring. Deeks could sense there was more to her than just a wild party girl, but he just couldn't pinpoint what it was.

He kept kissing her deeply but softly until their legs bumped on his bed allowing to break their makeout session and catch a breath.

She reached her hand and brushed her thumb across his cheek, staring deep into his eyes as if she was searching for something she has lost. Her memory perhaps.

Deeks gently took her hands in his and Kensi sat on bed pulling him on to her.

His lips moved to her neck this time, trailing soft kisses down to her collarbone. He used one hand to support his own weight and with the other he found the hem of Kensi's blouse.

Without thinking about it, he slipped his hand beneath her blouse and for the first time ever he touched the bare skin of her belly.

Kensi moaned in pleasure and dag her finger into his hair savoring his touch.

Without any warning, she rolled him over until she was the one on top.

Deeks smiled in satisfaction. Of course she would want to be the dominant one, the one in control, and he was willing to grand her that wish. Not for too long though. He craved to feel her slim body beneath his.

He gave her a wicked smile and Kensi brushed it off with a passionate kiss. He tasted like…..Summer. How was that even possible? How did Summer taste like? Anyway, if Summer had a flavor it would be Deeks lips.

She leaned forward, placed both hand on his strong chest and started moving them downwards.

Everywhere she touched him his skin lit on fire.

But suddenly she stopped with one hand still on Deeks chest and the other lower on his belly.

She couldn't see what was lying beneath Deeks t-shirt, but she knew. Somehow she knew.

She stood up never taking her hands off Deeks and gently stroked the areas.

"What's the matter," Deeks asked worried as he raised himself a bit moving his hands on her hips, his thumbs moving in circles.

"I remember these," she whispered.

"Remember what?" Deeks asked again puzzled.

Kensi slipped both hands under his t-shirt, pulled it up and run her fingers across his two bullet holes.

By now the scars were barely visible and even Deeks himself could not trace them.

"I remember," Kensi repeated trying to hold back the tears that were forming in her eyes.

"You mean the dream you keep having? The one where I save you in blaze of glory?" Deeks bragged.

"No," Kensi shook her head "I remember how you got these. I remember Hetty informing us about you. I remember how scared I felt at that moment. I remember I rushed to the hospital dreading I might be too late. I remember watching you sleep, week and helpless, and I vowed I would never let anyone hurt you ever again. I remember you saving my life."

Just like that Deeks realized that her tears were not tears of sorrow. They were tears of joy.

"I remember," she cried out and fell on top of him nearly crashing him.

Deeks wrapped his arms around her and held her close as tight as he could. Kensi was finding her way back to him slowly but steady. This was the beginning of the end of their nightmare.

They stayed lying in bed in each other's arms all night long. The timing wasn't right to succumb to their flaming carnal desires. It was obvious now. No matter how badly they wanted it, they weren't ready for it.

They could wait. After all they had waited for nearly 5 years. A few more months wouldn't kill them.

They never spoke another word that night. Their silence spoke volumes. They were happy just being together. His presence made her feel safe and hers made him feel happy. They completed each other in ways they didn't yet comprehend.

Kensi woke up around 7am feeling Deeks strong arms wrapped around her. Her head was resting on his chest and the sound of his beating heart obviously worked as a lullaby to keep her serene all night.

He looked so peaceful she hated to wake him up. So, she very carefully and quietly climbed off the bed and headed towards the kitchen.

Coffee was her first thought so she turned on the coffee maker, waited for a few minutes and then opened the cupboard to find a mug.

It was a mess inside. Glasses and mugs all mixed together and the very back of the cupboard she could spot a blue mug. It was placed in such a way that it looked like Deeks was trying to hide it.

Almost hypnotized, she carefully moved all the stuff that were blocking her and took the mug out. It was a short but wide corn flower blue mug with the drawing of a surfer on it. Then, she noticed the chipped handle. She examined it for a few seconds and then it hit her.

She remembered that mug. Actually, she owned that mug and it was her favorite. One day, despite Kensi's warnings, Deeks used it for a joggling stunt he had seen on tv. As expected his stunt was a complete failure and her beloved mug ended up broken on the floor.

Oh she had given him Hell for that. She could remember his sincere pleas and the honest guilt in his eyes. He had felt so bad that he went out in the middle of the night and got her an identical one. How he pulled that stunt at 2 am she never found out.

What amazed her though, was the fact that he had kept that chipped mug.

Her LA Detective was full of surprises. He didn't strike as a sentimental type of guy, but she knew that deep down inside he was. He was just good at hiding it. Probably a defense mechanism.

No matter how badly she wanted to wake him up and share the good news with him about her new memories, she preferred to let him rest.

She poured some coffee in her favorite mug and headed towards the living room.

That was when she remembered that flash drive that Eric and Nell had given to her. She had checked it as soon as she had gotten home and it was full of mp3 files. But with all the changes in her life happening so fast she hadn't found the time to listen to them. She had only transferred them on her phone.

The time now, was as good as it could get. She took one big sip of coffee, sat on the couch, placed her headphones and pressed play.

Deeks woke up about an hour later. This was the first time in a long time that actually slept through the night. He extended his hand on Kensi's side of the bed, but to his surprise it was empty.

Within seconds he was fully awake and calling her out.

"Kensi?"

No answer.

"Hey sunshine are you making me breakfast?" he tried to joke.

When there was still no answer he quickly got off the bed and starting looking around.

She couldn't have left. Not after last night. She wouldn't leave him. But where was she?

She wasn't in the bathroom but as he walked towards his kitchen he saw her sleeping on her couch.

He let out a deep breath of relief and approached her.

"You scared the hell out of me," he whispered to her knowing she couldn't hear him with her earphones on.

"What are you listening to anyway?" he carefully removed them from her ears and put them on.

"Well first of, I would have been successful."

"In picking me up?"

"Aha, we'd be in the car right now heading home, you'd be drunk sitting on my lap telling me I am gonna wake up with bite marks on my neck."

"Too much information."

"Except for the fact that you are not my type."

"I am too your type."

He remembered that conversation. It was back to when they were chasing the Chameleon.

But why was Kensi listening to this stuff? He moved to the next track curious to hear what was next.

"I'm so sorry. It was inappropriate. Geez...!"

"You're an agent, we'rein a working environment."

"What? No, Deeks, stop- oh!"

"Okay."

" See, you know what? You got to have faster reflexes than that. That's what happens when you marry the jungle cat."

"Yeah."

"You want to make little Ninja assassins."

"You want to play this game."

"Obviously, you're gonna have to... oh! You know what, sweetie, honey, this is how somebody gets hurt."

"Yeah. You."

"I don't want to see you get hurt, honey."

"Ow! Don't... St...! Ow! Burn. You ca... Ow! Okay, don't

make me unleash the beast."

"Only thing beastly about you is your breath."

"Dizzy... Kens...Ow! Ow! Ow!"

"Sounds like the honeymoon is over."

"You guys in position?"

"Huh? Well, one of us is."

Eric and Nell were geniuses. Their wicked master plan was now obvious to him. They were using footage from their undercover assignments to help Kensi restore her memories. How come he never thought about that.

He smiled in satisfaction and slowly gave the headphones back to Kensi, careful not to wake her up.

Then, he saw her blue mug on the coffee table. Wait, not blue. Corn flower blue. She was always really persistent about the exact colour. How did she manage to find it from the depths of his cupboard?

He was supposed to throw it away but never found the courage to do it. Somehow, that mug reminded him of his partner. Beautiful but broken.

Deeks placed it back on the coffee table and sat on the floor next to the couch were Kensi was sitting. He rested his head backwards until his hair were almost brushing Kensi's.

Right then, Kensi stirred in her sleep and whispered.

"It's a love story!"
