So, I got back from work and couldn't stop thinking about this story. I really want to get on with the action and all that stuff. So I figured, I would keep writing. Makes sense right? I know you guys won't be mad at me for giving you a chapter today.
However, I thought I would take a moment to answer some questions that people have reviewed about before, or now have been PMing me. Bringing in a new person who was kidnapped, I had to bring in Alli. I didn't want to bring in some random girl or guy. I've had this story outlined from the beginning and one of the things I was planning on keeping was bringing in Alli. She was going to add that Clare history that would push her to tell Eli.
I really wanted them to find out about her past, and Adam will eventually find out the details. He has been able to put together the pieces, and he assumes but it's positive. He will be able to comfort Clare and be able to relate to it better than Eli. Since Eli has never had to deal with rape. So Adam will find out.
Also, last thing, I never really thought about doing a Clare's family POV. A few of you have mentioned it, and I never even considered it. I might do it, but I might not. I wasn't planning on it, because I wanted to focus on them inside this place and how they cope. I added Alli to give a little bit of an insight into Clare's family outside of the place, but it's not really a big part of the story to me.
So anyways, on with the story! Let me know what you guys think! Anything you guys want to see? Let me know, and I'll see if I can put it in, or maybe it might already be part of the story's outline! Now, on with the chapter! As always; Read and Review!
Eli's POV
"Are you okay?" I asked Clare. She was staring at Alli again. I've noticed her several times today, that she got lost in thought while looking at Alli.
"Yeah. I'm fine." She sighed, and looked down at her hands.
"Are you regretting what you said?" I asked.
Adam was asleep at the moment. We've been talking on and off, with and without Adam. He still isn't sleeping well, so he's been trying throughout the day. Clare and I never run out of things to say, and with Adam, we can talk for hours; which is what we did.
"No. It needed to be said. I just wished she didn't go to them. This place has already affected her. She's never acted this bad, and I don't think her hanging out with them, is going to make it any better." Clare sighed again.
When I returned from getting food, Clare and Adam told me what happened. I was curious because I noticed that Alli wasn't sitting in the corner she was when I left, but she was sitting with the savages. I gave the food, I got for her separately, to her but I didn't speak to her. Bianca and Drew also didn't dive for the food bag like they normally did. Instead they acted like they were above it all; making Alli give Clare a snooty look. My guess is she thought Clare was lying about the savages comment. Unfortunately we weren't lying.
"It'll be okay. Don't worry so much. If she is as strong as you say she is, she'll come to her senses. Or worse case will at least not become as bad as them." I offered.
"I know. It just sucks." Clare sighed, leaning her head back against the wall.
"Whoa. Clare. No need to curse." I teased.
"Seriously? I swore a lot when yelling at Alli. I can probably say the word 'suck' when I'm depressed." She argued.
"I know. I wish I was there to see it. Adam was telling me it was something I shouldn't have missed. Are you planning on going on a swearing rampage again anytime soon?"
"If I can help it, no." She stated. "But if I do, I'll give you a heads up next time."
"Good." I smirked, bumping her shoulder with mine.
"So. Any news on the placements?" She asked. It was only a few hours away.
"No." I sighed. "I like to know but it's really just a fifty-fifty draw." She nodded, but didn't say anything.
"So, on a different note, may I ask you something? You don't have to answer, but since you know my past, may I ask about what happened before I got here?" She asked me.
I knew what she was referring too. I also knew this was coming. And I could trust her so I knew that her knowing wouldn't be a problem. It's just that telling her, getting the words out, would be the hardest part. But she told me. I knew that, that was hard for her. So I know she trusts me. So I know I can trust her. I mean Adam knows, so really Clare knowing isn't a big deal.
"Well. Three years ago. Before Adam came here. I knew someone that came in here. Her name was Julia." I began. This was going to be long and painful.
I know this is super short, but I wanted the flashback to be in one chapter. Just by itself. It's going to be longer than Clare's. Obviously, since Eli's is like a timeline of what has happened since he arrived in captivity. It won't be long and boring though. It will be helpful for everything that is referenced like what happened three years ago, and what happened with Julia. It's all interlocked, and I didn't want to break it up. I hope you guys understand!
