Chapter 41

Rainy Day

Tapping sounds came from a nearby bedroom. The tapping became more frequent. "C'mon." Kuki said. She fell on top of her bed. She stared up at the pregnancy test, clutching it desperately. After what felt like minutes had gone by, the pregnancy test switched to a blue plus sign. It was positive. The oriental girl squealed with delight and hugged the pregnancy test tightly; after realizing what the test had on it, she dropped it on the bed. Kuki grinned with excitement. She began texting her best friends about the great news. Immediately replies came flooding in. 'Well done yous two! XXX' texted Rachel. Fanny replied with a couple of smiley faces and kisses. No response from Ai, yet. Abby immediately phoned Kuki instead of texting her. "Abby is very happy for you, Kuki. So are the twins." Abby said in her usual third person tone, she crunched hard on a chocolate chip cookie. Crumbs fell down her mouth to the couch. "When will you tell the lucky daddy?" asked Abby while wiggling eyebrows. "I don't know but he does have something planned tonight. I might tell him tonight." Smiled Kuki. She couldn't believe it, Wally and her were now parents. She rubbed her small bump. The triplets moved a little inside of their mother. Kuki grinned. Abby continued to munch. "We got to meet up tomorrow and discuss baby showers." Grinned Abby. A knock startled Kuki. A stone had tapped the window. Kuki strolled over to the window. Kuki noticed Wally standing in her front yard. It was three o'clock in the afternoon. "I got to go Abby, Wally is in my front yard. Aww." Kuki stated on the phone. She noticed his handsome face and the way he looked at her. "Have fun, girl." Abby replied. A noise came from behind Abby. It was Hoagie coming home from the university. Kuki hung up before she could hear anything 'dodgy' on the other end. Kuki opened her window. "Hey, honey." Kuki sad while sighing. She loved the way he always thought about her and surprised her. She lay on her windowsill. "Hello, beautiful." Wally smirked. He began to climb the old oak tree which sat near Kuki's window. He swung onto a branch and slowly approached Kuki's window. Kuki leaned over like a princess locked up in an ivory tower. Wally reached the end of the strong branch and was an arm's length away from Kuki. He softly touched her hand. She smiled while staring into his eyes. "Why is it, we took so long to confess our feelings." Said Kuki out loud. "Because I didn't have the guts to tell you. I couldn't be rejected by the one girl I love." Wally whispered. "Oh Wally." Cried Kuki. Thank goodness no one was inside her house, as it was one o'clock in the afternoon. "Would you like to come inside?" Kuki bat her eyelashes. "Sorry honey, got errands to do before tonight. Meet me outside of Randos at six o'clock. I have good news for you." Smiled Wally. He blew a kiss towards Kuki. She caught it with her hand and placed it over her heart. "Of course my love, but-…" began Kuki. "I'm sorry, but we will discuss things later sweetie." Wally said as he climbed down the tree. Before Kuki could speak Wally was already gone.

Rain began to fall down the house and the window. It had turned into such a rainy day. Kuki quickly closed the window shut. The rain began to drop heavier and heavier. It was true, autumn was here and summer won't return until next year. Kuki stared down at the outfits she had laid out on the bed. She couldn't wear the crop top; it was too revealing. She couldn't wear the black dress as it was for summer. Kuki pondered and pondered. She stared at her wardrobe until an idea came to her. She could wear her white top with white jeans and a pink checkered jacket. Kuki smiled she was all set for her date with Wally.

Wally stared down at the envelope within his hand. He couldn't believe it. He was accepted into university. He didn't know how he could have pulled it off. Wally smiled. He could now save up and buy anything for Kuki. Even a house. "There's our little man." Shouted his father. His mother cried hard with both tears of joy and sadness. "Our son is growing up." She cried. Wally shook his head. "You knew this day would come." He said. His mother nodded. His father placed a hand on his shoulder. "Well done son." He said. His mother ran towards him while embracing him. Joey could be heard playing with his video games in the living room. A small tear rolled down Wally's face. He quickly wiped it away. "Now all you have to do is marry Kuki. Well propose." Said his mother. Wally looked sideways at his father. His father scratched the back of his head awkwardly. "What? What did I say?" his mother asked. His father rolled his eyes. "Well-…" began Wally.

Kuki patted some foundation onto her face, she had to cover up her dark circles. As she was adding the finishing touches, her phone rang. "Hello?" Kuki said. A scream answered her back. "Kuki! My waters have broke!" Ai screamed. Kuki almost dropped her cell-phone. "Breath." Kuki replied. Small in and out breathing was heard. "Also congratulations Kuki!" Said Ai as she huffed. She was slumped up against the couch. "Is Jason there?" Kuki asked. "No, he's at work." Ai said breathlessly. "Kuki, I don't want to lose David!" cried Ai. Kuki hushed her over the phone. "You'll won't. I promise. Yuki was sick, but she's in a better place now. David isn't ill, he's a healthy baby." Kuki replied. Ai sobbed a little bit more. "I wish Jason was here!" cried Ai. Kuki hushed her again. "Have you called an ambulance?" Kuki asked. "Of course. They're on their way. They told me to stick on the line but I told them I had to call you, so I hung up on them." She replied. Kuki shook her head. Her cousin was truly out of her mind. "Well you better let those nice doctors and nurses take care of you. And please no strangling." Kuki instructed. Ai made a noise of approval. The sound of sirens interrupted their call. "Congratulations to you." Ai said as she hung up. "You too." Whispered Kuki. She combed her hair and placed a flower in her hair.

Tapping his foot, Wally stared down at his silver watch. Five minutes to go. He paced on the spot outside the fancy restaurant. He was under an umbrella which had panda faces all over it. Kuki had gave him it for Valentine's Day. Even though he hated that sort of stuff, he didn't mind if it was from her. Plus it was better than Rainbow Monkeys. As he peered up from his watch, a figure caught his attention. "Wally." Waved Kuki. She had her own umbrella (Rainbow Monkey, special edition, purple), covering her head. She looked amazing. "Hello." Grinned Wally. He clasped her hands within his. He bent over and kissed them softly, while trying to hold onto his umbrella as well. Kuki blushed slightly. "I'm starving." She said. He chuckled. "Good thing we're standing outside a restaurant." Wally replied. Kuki slapped his arm playfully. "And on that note, let's eat!" he proclaimed. Kuki giggled.

The restaurant was painted in a type of burnt orange, it matched the autumn weather outside. Rain plastered the windows, the couples that were finished with their meals winched as they soon will have to leave into the abyss of rain. The walls had antique lamps with matching oval lightbulbs. The theme of the restaurant was crossed between an old western saloon and a Victorian house. The waiter had sat the pair in an excluded area which was often reserved for VIPs only. "How did you get these seats?" asked Kuki. Wally winked at her. He would never tell how he washed dishes, cleaned toilets, and scrubbed floors and ceilings. "This is amazing." Kuki said. She kissed Wally on the lips softly. The waiter strolled over to take their orders. "Could we have one special and fried chicken with mash potato please." Wally said as he gave the waiter their menus. Wally's yellow shirt went well with the orange walls. As the couple chatted about things, their meals came.

The evening went on and the rain got lighter and lighter. "Kuki. I have something to tell you." Wally cleared his throat. Kuki nervously fiddled with her fingers. So did her. "We have known each other since Kindergarten and have been in love ever since. I love you Kuki Mai Sanban. Here goes nothing." Wally stood up from the table and knelt down in front of Kuki. Kuki stared with an open mouth. Tears of joy fell down her face. "Kuki Mai Sanban, will you marry me?" Wally proposed, with a silver wedding ring. The crystal was the colour of purple. The ring sat in a black ring box. "Yes." Cried Kuki. She jumped upon him and almost brought the tablecloth down from the table. She kissed him passionately. Wally placed the ring on her finger. "Champagne sir?" asked the waiter while the customers clapped for the happy couple. "Please." Grinned Wally. He had been saving up for months for this night. The couple sat back into their seats with bright grins on their faces. "We have to plan." Squealed Kuki. Wally nodded as the waiter strolled over with the champagne. The man poured it into two glasses. Wally lifted his glass to his mouth. Kuki on the other hand swirled hers. "Kuki, do you remember that university I applied for in Massachusetts. Well… I got in. I leave in three weeks." grinned Wally. Kuki's stomach churned. She forgot about the university. Wally stared at her. Kuki had a look of sorrow on her face. "Are you going to drink your champagne?" asked Wally with a charming smile. Kuki's eyes filled with tears. Before Wally could blink, Kuki had ran from the restaurant. Wally tried to run after her however the waiter stopped him for the bill. Wally furiously threw money at him as he sprinted after Kuki.

Rain splattered Kuki's face. She had forgot to pick up her umbrella. Tears rolled down her face as she tried to bring back her breath. Kuki leaned on a wall, before deciding whether she should run or go back. Her decision was interrupted by her fiancée running around the corner. He was holding the panda umbrella she had gave him, while carrying her purple umbrella. Her pink jacket was soaking through. Soon she would catch the flu. Chills spread up Kuki's spine. "Kuki." Wally said. He came to a halt in front of her. She collapsed on his shoulder. Tears fell down her face and onto his green jacket. "What's the matter, honey? Is it the university? It won't be forever." He stated while comforting her. She rubbed her face into his soaking jacket. "Wally… I'm… Pregnant." Kuki said. Wally stared down at her. She stared up at him. A moment silence crept up on them. Wally cleared his throat. "Why didn't you tell me?" asked Wally. "I found out this morning…I tried telling you but you were busy and I was going to tell you tonight." Sniffed Kuki. Wally hugged her tighter. "I'll won't go to university. I'll stay here." He finally said after thinking. Kuki stared up at him. A smile crept on her face. Then a thought appeared. I just killed his dream, thought Kuki. How could I do that to the man I love?, she thought. Kuki shook her head furiously. "No! I'm being silly. I'll be fine!" she demanded. Wally stared at her, questioning her actions. "I want you to live your dream, but also visit me and our children. I want you to be happy, not miserable." Kuki hugged into Wally. He kissed her forehead softly. "I'm happy with you, silly." He said while softly tapping her head. She stared deep into his emerald green eyes. "I'll won't be happy knowing I've killed your dream. Please do this for me." She said while rubbing her nose and eyes. Wally bent over to Kuki's height. "Of course, anything you want Kooks." He grinned while kissing her. She wrapped her arms around his neck. "Well, since you'll be leaving in three weeks. You will have to marry Me." she said sweetly. Wally chuckled. "Deal." He said while kissing her yet again.
