Hey guys. I really felt the need to write tonight. I just saw the Degrassi episode this week and it really made me not like Clare, with how mean she was to Eli and how she handled the situation with Drew. I totally took Eli's side of the whole dilemma by the way. And that isn't normal for me so I needed to get my mind off the episode by writing. Anyways, that was my rant for the day. As always, Read and Review!
Clare's POV
"Stop it, Eli. Seriously." I groaned. "This isn't funny."
"I think it is." He smirked at me. "You just got out of a kidnap slash hostage situation, and you are still freaking out about your hair?"
"It takes my mind off things I don't want to think about." I explained, standing at the mirror in the bathroom of my room.
"What do you not want to think about?" He asked, from where he was leaning against the door frame.
"Everything." I sighed. "My parents fighting like crazy now that they know I'm okay. You not telling me how we got out of there. My anxiety level slowly rising just at the thought of having to sit through an interrogation by the police. Ugh." I groaned, and stopped messing with my hair. There was nothing I could do to completely cover it until it regrew some.
"It's not that I won't tell you. I just don't want you to worry and focus on the how. Just focus on getting better and know that we are out. I've already told the police everything I know about the place. They'll get them. Don't worry to much about it." Eli stated, walking over to me and wrapping his arms around me from behind.
"Clare?" I pulled away from Eli and he leaned against the sink next to me. I turned to see who entered the room and saw it was a nurse.
"Yes?" I asked.
"Dr. Hatzilakos just wanted me to let you know that your test results will be in in the morning. And to get some rest. She's already discussed your injuries with your parents, and will let you know more, when the results come in, about how long you'll be here." She stated kindly.
"Okay. Thanks." I replied. Tomorrow morning. I just have to wait until tomorrow morning.
"What tests?" Eli asked, after the nurse left.
"You know. Standard stuff." I shrugged dismissively. I wasn't going to tell anyone until I knew the results.
I walked back towards the bed and climbed in, making myself comfortable under the covers. Eli sat down next to me and wrapped his arm around me.
"Clare?" I looked up to the familiar voice just as I was leaning back against the pillow.
"Adam." I smiled, seeing him enter the room.
"How are you feeling?" He asked, sitting on the bed by my feet.
"Tired." I stated.
"Seeing as how you slept for over a day, I can't see how." He joked.
"You didn't get much sleep last night did you?" I asked, looking at the bags under his eyes.
"I tried. I just couldn't. My mom is already in hyper drive about it. She's sending me back to my shrink on Monday." Adam stated shaking his head. "That's actually part of why I came in here. I was wondering if I should go with my parents to the hotel." He looked between Eli and I to register our thoughts.
"I think it's a good idea. Nice bed. You need the rest." I shrugged in agreement.
"I don't see why not." Eli agreed.
"One police officer is going to come with me to watch over me while I'm there. Like you guys do here. I just figured I'd ask before giving my mom an answer." He stated.
"We have police watching over us?" I asked.
"One is stationed at your door. And if you left the room they would follow you around like they do for Eli and I." Adam explained.
"That makes me feel normal." I sighed.
"It takes time to get back to normal. The protection is only temporary." Eli spoke.
"Normal is overrated." Adam stated, smiling a little.
"Speaking of normal, how did your x-rays go?" Eli asked.
"No broken bones. I'm lucky I guess." He exhaled. He didn't sound sad but at the same time didn't really sound happy.
"Adam, you look even more tired than I feel. Why don't you go now with your parents to try to get some sleep?" I offered. "I'll still be here in the morning."
"I suppose. I am just a little nervous. I've limited my time with my parents since they got here. It's really awkward. Things have changed." He sighed.
"I know what you mean." Eli nodded in agreement.
"Clare?" Darcy spoke from the doorway. "Mom and Dad want to spend the night here. What should I tell them?"
"Tell them no. I can't handle their arguing." I sighed, meeting Darcy's gaze.
"Okay. I figured you would say that, I just wanted to know." She gave me a small smile. "They'll probably be in to say goodbye in a few minutes."
"Okay." I nodded, before watching her leave the room. I turned to Adam. "Go with your parents. It's late. If you need an excuse tomorrow come back, but for now, go."
"Fine." Adam exhaled, before sliding off the bed. "I guess I'll see you guys tomorrow." I watched Adam leave the room, before turning to Eli.
"You should go too. I can have Darcy or Jake stay with me." I explained.
"Yeah. I don't think so Edwards. I'm not leaving you until I know you are completely healthy. Plus, I guarantee you'll have a nightmare and who will be there to protect you from them? Jake? Ha. He isn't brave enough." He smirked.
"Wow. You're shameless." I smiled at him. "Fine. I figured I would try anyway." I snuggled into him as he spoke.
"It was a good attempt, but you can't get rid of me that easy." He smirked again, kissing my forehead.
I hope he sticks by that statement. Because when the test results come in tomorrow, who knows what will change.
