Awakening
I shall feed you to Loki's army anyone dares to say that I own anything. I don't!
Ok, for once I was glad that the Captain that Howard praised so much was here. Because I had no energy left to deal with Loki, literally. I was totally drained, and even with my Arc humming frantically trying to get my energetic stores back up I was drained.
For a moment there my Arc had even started flickering! Not that I was ever going to tell Dad that though. If Rogers had been expecting civilians around he didn't seem to be (apparently) alone with the Asgardian.
I had managed to drag myself over to a lamppost (away from the flaming tree) and leaned back against the cold metal. Just when I thought that I would be able to perhaps pass out for a bit, Steve started bantering with Loki; and I wanted to bash my head in.
"You know, the last time that I was in Germany and saw a man standing above everybody else, we ended up disagreeing." Rogers said stepping towards the fallen god.
"I don't want to listen to this." I mumbled and rubbed my sore eyes. I glared over at Loki and then at the flaming tree. The flames were large and bright, and they hurt my eyes. Biting my lip I pushed a tiny bit of my power into my hand and managed to smash out the flames.
The action left black spots dancing in front of my eyes and I glared at Loki and the Captain who were now both looking for me. I rolled my eyes, and said for them to hear,
"I believe you can handle this idiot Captain?" I let my strain and exhaustion leak slightly into my voice and Rogers looked concerned for a moment while Loki sneered happily.
"Yes Ma'am." Rogers stated before he turned his attention back towards the god. "It seems that I'm not the only one who has problems with you."
"Not important." Loki stated as he twirled the staff in his hands. "The Soldier, a man out of time. Barton has spoken of you."
Rogers' eyes narrowed but he didn't respond to the gab about Barton. "I'm not the one out of time!" He yelled as he jumped towards him.
I winced as the sound of a Chopper got my attention, and I saw with a tiny bit of satisfaction as a SHIELD helicopter-jet hybrid dropped out of the sky. A large machine gun almost instantly appeared and trained itself on Loki.
"Drop the weapon and stand down Loki!" Romanoff's voice echoed through the empty street from the jet's speakers.
I chuckled to myself lightly did they seriously think that that was going to work? Oh well, since I was stuck here till my batteries recharged a bit, I might as well enjoy the show.
I decided to just watch the show, and smirked...this might be amusing.
Loki just sneered again, boy he liked sneering more than...someone…shaking my head to clear it of the foggy and confusing thought I turned my attention back to the fight.
The younger Asgardian shot a bright purple-blue blast of magic towards the jet at an incredible speed. However, Romanoff was a skilled pilot and she was able to maneuver around it easily.
This seemed to spur the Captain into action as he threw his shield at Loki. It flew true and I couldn't help but burst out laughing as it bounced off of his face and returned to him. Ok, that was amazing; and the look on Loki's face made it priceless! He hadn't been expecting that.
Almost instantly Rogers was upon Loki, and punched him in the face before the Asgardian even had the chance to blink.
"huh" I muttered as I watched the Captain and Loki throw punches at each other. I had a feeling that Loki wasn't going all out. The Asgardians were all about strength and battle, he could have beat Steve if he wished.
I had a feeling that this was just a game, one that we had walked right into.
Shoot.
After a few rounds that were fairly even, Loki managed to finally use the staff and Rogers was thrown back into a fountain that was behind them.
"Ouch." I mumbled to myself, "That's got to hurt."
Rogers was back on his feet in an instant, and he threw his shield at the Asgardian but it was simply knocked aside like a bothersome fly. The fight continued and I realized that not only was Loki holding back, but he was also only matching Steve's speed, strength, and agility. It didn't look like he was trying to win, just put on a show.
"Dad, Loki's got a different endgame." I stated with a small cough. "He isn't trying to win."
"Noted, I'm twenty seconds out." Dad stated an I grinned.
Loki tried to get Rogers to kneel, but he responded by kicking the god in the face. Romanoff had been flying around for the past five minutes trying to get a clear shot of Loki. But is wasn't happening.
ACDC's Shoot to Thrill filled the air (Jarvis had obviously hijacked the jet's speakers) as my com, along with everyone else's echoed my father's voice.
"Agent Romanoff, gents, did'ya missed me?" Dad laughed and I smiled as I spotted the flash of light in the distance that was the Mark VI. Loki and Rogers were both frozen with shock at Dad's appearance, though I think it had more to do with the music playing then anything else.
"Welcome to the party, Daddy!" I laughed lightly as Dad shot a repulsor blast at Loki sending him flying backwards.
He landed in a kneel only a foot away from the Captain, and only a yard or so away from where I was. Rogers was staring at Dad in shock as he stood up and suddenly every weapon in his arsenal lit up
"Sorry it took so long." Dad's concerned voice whispered in my ear. "Are you alright?"
A small smile flickered across my face and I chuckled, "Just worn out."
"Did ya get the civilians out?" Dad asked and I snorted.
"Course I did. SHIELD might not care all that much about casualties, but I do." I drawled, besides. It wasn't like my Duties would let me do anything else.
Dad snorted in amusement before taking a step towards the downed Asgardian, "I dare you to make a move, Reindeer Games...I just dare you." Dad growled, letting his anger slip into his voice; the suit made his voice sound even harder and colder because of it's system. Personally if I was Loki I would be worried.
Cause having a pissed off Iron Man staring down at you was bad; at least it wasn't Tony Stark in Father Mode. That was worse.
"Nice," I commented as Loki glared heatedly at Dad but even if he wanted to, there was little he could do. The staff had been ripped from his hands in the blast and was lying on the other side of the courtyard and it wasn't like me and Dad would let him try anything.
His glare never wavered as, with a golden glow, his armor faded and Loki slowly raised his hands. Steve appeared at my Dad's side as Loki apparently surrendered.
This of course set off warning bells in my mind instantly as everything clicked into place. "Dad, he wants to be captured...this...this was all just a show. A game, a move to make us come after him."
"While I'd love to think its because we can kick his butt, I do agree. However, it's best to have him in a place where we can keep an eye on him." Dad stated and I realized just how pissed at the Asgardian he was. Usually he would have just giving a witty comeback and ignored the issue till later.
But he was worried, and on edge. I think we both were.
"Smart move." Tony acknowledged as he lowered his arms and his weapons disengaged. "However, it's too bad. I was so looking forward testing a few of my new and experimental toys on you….perhaps next time."
Loki sneered, but I could see a small spark of worry in his blue eyes.
"New and experimental? Wow, what did Loki do to get your knickers such in a twist Dad?" I asked in shock.
Dad didn't respond, and I bit my lip, hoping that he was alright.
"There won't be a next time, Mr. Stark." Rogers said with a pointed glance.
"We'll see, Captain." Tony was barely able to keep the venom out of his voice. I had an idea of what he was thinking. Sure, it wasn't Rogers' fault that Howard had turned into a bitter drunk while searching for him. But that didn't stop the memories from haunting my father, and therefore, me.
It had taken a while to get everyone on the jet after Romanoff had landed; and chewed out Dad.
Apparently Fury wasn't very happy that he had showed up out of the blue even if he had helped get Loki. I had also overheard Romanoff speaking with Fury, apparently while they weren't sure who had dealt with Loki before they had arrived. cough me cough. Fury had informed Romanoff that he had a feeling it was Electra.
I snickered, because they were sorta right. Finally, all of us managed to get on the jet. It had been slightly difficult for me since I was so low on power, but I managed.
Somehow, Dad had managed to slip me a chocolate bar, knowing that sugar was one of the best ways to get my energy back. Between that and all of the resting I did while waiting for SHIELD to get their act together I felt well enough to Flash back. But Dad wouldn't have any of that. He told me that I was accompanying them back on the jet, and that I didn't have a say in the matter.
I didn't really protest much since he did have two reasonable excuses for wanted to keep me around. The first one was that he wanted to keep an eye on me, and the second was the fact that he didn't have to have to deal with Rogers alone. I would have stuck around just for the last one period.
Not to mention that I wanted to keep an eye on Loki...and my Duties were telling me to as well.
So basically I really wasn't going anywhere, I just wish I was able to.
Sadly, both Dad and I had forgotten how slow the SHIELD jets were, and to say that we were both bored was an understatement.
It had been really awkwardly silent, besides from mine and Dad's conversation. That was until started flying over some snowy mountains. Then conversation finally started up.
"Has he said anything?" Fury asked over the open com. His voice echoed through the whole jet, and even if he had tried to keep the conversation private, with Jarvis in their system I would be able to listen in if I so wished.
"Not a word." Romanoff stated coldly.
"Just get him here, we're low on time." Fury ordered before the line went dead, and I rolled my eyes. Leave it to Fury to be a dramatic hardass.
I glanced over at the god who was seated only a few seats up and across from me. He was gazing at all of us lifelessly, leaving me wondering if Loki was even mentally there; and not in the mentally challenged sense.
"I don't like it." Rogers finally stated quietly to Dad glancing at the Asgardian.
I was actually the closest to Loki out of everyone, but that is where I belonged. Because out of everyone on board I was the most qualified to deal with him.
"What? The fact that old Green Horns gave up so easily?" Dad responded, his voice laced with sarcasm.
"I'm glad you finally figured that you." Dad muttered to me and I had to stifle a giggle. It was harder to hide my voice in such close quarters. Since not all of us could hide behind a faceplate.
"I just don't remember it being that easy." Rogers stated grimly. "This guy packs a wallop."
"That's because it's not; though you seem to be doing fairly well considering your age." Tony commented with a smirk, even if I couldn't see it. "What's your secret, Pilates?"
"What?" Rogers asked, completely confused and I snorted quietly, this was funny.
"It's similar to calisthenics." Dad explained with an eye roll and a sigh. "You probably missed a couple of things while you were…you know…doing time as a Capsicle. Tell me, do you miss the ice?"
And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how Tony Stark deals with someone discreetly (or not so much) when he doesn't like them. And it had only just begun.
Rogers' expression hardened before he responded, his voice just as sharp, "Fury didn't tell me that he was calling you in."
I shook my head. Romanoff and Dad had argued over that fact with Fury through the com while Rogers had been watching Loki, so he didn't know that SHIELD hadn't called him in.
"Don't expect Fury to tell you everything. In Fact, don't expect him to tell you much at all. He likes keeping things close to the chest." Dad was still annoyed with the SHIELD director. He had an issue with him because he didn't help more with the Palladium issue a few months back.
Tony had decided to blame Fury for my short 'death', and I didn't have too much of an issue with it. At least he wasn't blaming himself anymore. As far as I could tell anyway.
The storm we were in rumbled, and thunder boomed around us. Lightning crackled in the distance and suddenly a large amount of static electricity appeared in the air. My sparks sung and my eyes narrowed, while my Sparks loved a good lightning storm, there was a distinct, flavor you could say, to the electricity that I recognized.
Loki's eyes widened, and he stiffened as the thunder continued and lightning forked in front of the jet.
"What's the matter, are you scared of a little lightning?" Rogers asked him sarcastically.
"Heads up, I think Thor's in the area." I mumbled and I could see Tony stiffen.
"Great." Dad muttered with a sigh.
"I'm not overly fond of what follows." Loki admitted, speaking for the first time. I noticed that he actually looked nervous.
"Well, I'll let you in on a little secret of mine..." Dad stated with an evil tone, "I love lightning."
A smile appeared on my face and I chuckled at that. His statement would seem strange to everyone else but it warmed my heart, since I was practically lightning myself.
I was jarred out of my thoughts as the jet shook as something hit the room. I stretched out my Sparks just a bit before sighing.
I was right.
"It look like Thor's also joining the party." I stated with a smirk, silently hoping that no one was going to do anything rash.
Eh, it was wishful thinking.
and Enter Thor! ...well, sorta
:P
Hope that ya'll are enjoying it!
