A/N: Here is another installment of 101 Uses for a Shinai. I still have plenty of uses to incorporate in this series of one shots. Which one would you like to see next? Enjoy!
#28… Beat up bullies – great defense tool and bullies get their just desserts.
If there is one thing Satoshi hates more than Chika's attitude towards Hunny, it is bullies. He doesn't normally get bullied because he is taller than many people his age and being the captain of the kendo team holds some sway (dear reader Chika also doesn't typically get bullied because if someone tried, he would probably beat them up and there is no telling if their face would be recognizable afterwards); however, there are others that have gotten bullied, and Satoshi hates it.
Now there are not many bullies at Ouran, but there are a few… most of them come from the D classes or from the A class who want to remind others that they are below them, either way it is wrong, and when Satoshi or Chika see someone being bullied they try to do what they can and help the victims. One such event got very physical for the two teens.
Back in their second year in middle school, they were both walking towards the dojo for judo club when they saw three high school thugs holding a middle school student forcefully against the wall. Unable to ignore the pleas from their fellow student, as many others were doing, they decided to help and ran up to the small group. Stopping just behind the thugs, they noticed the victim's eyes grow as he recognized them.
Clearing his throat, Satoshi extracted a shinai as he proclaimed, "You need to let go of our friend there."
The high schoolers whipped around and started to laugh. The leader sneered, "Oh look boys, two more middle school scum who want to pay us an allowance."
Chika and Satoshi looked at each other and shook their heads, and the young Haninozuka asked, "You really think that's going to happen? Do you even know who we are?"
"Two stupid students that decided to stick their noses where they don't belong," one of the other thugs chortled.
Nodding vigorously, the third thug laughed, "That's right! And since they are younger, they are weaker and smaller!"
Satoshi raised one of his brows. He was actually taller than the last teen who opened his mouth, and he may even be taller than the leader, "I think you need to really look in the mirror because you are not as tall as you think you are." Was he egging them on? Maybe a little, but he also knew he could handle himself and with Chika there, the odds were in their favor.
"Well I'm still older and smarter," the third thug retorted.
"If that were true, you wouldn't still be standing here," Chika scoffed. Like Satoshi, he figured the odds and was confident they would win, "I think you need to let go of our friend."
"I don't think so," the leader smirked and snapped his fingers silently order his two followers to take care of the intruders.
Smiling, Chika side stepped and kicked the thug in the gut before grabbing his arm and throwing him to the ground. The moment the enemy tried to get up and grab him, Chika hit him on the shoulder and sent him sprawling to the ground completely knocked out.
Satoshi had been waiting for the moment the bullies would strike and was prepared. Raising his shinai, the moment the thug tried to swing at him, he brought his shinai down hard on the older teen's arm. Spinning around, he elbowed him in the stomach and then used the shinai to sweep the enemy's legs out from under him. When the thug tried to get up, Satoshi warned him, "I wouldn't if I were you… that is unless you want more of this." The older teen collapsed back down not willing to risk further injury. As it was, he really thought his arm was broken. Eyes sweeping the area, Satoshi found the leader and instructed him, "I think you need to let our friend go."
"Ha! I don't think…" the leader tried to refuse.
"Yasuchika, do you believe that he is actually telling a Haninozuka and a Morinozuka no?" Satoshi grinned maliciously.
Shaking his head, Chika snickered, "Nope. Not at all."
"Ha… Ha… Hanino… Mo… Morino…" the leader was at a loss for words and kept stammering.
The expression the leader was making was quite hilarious to the two middle school boys, but before they could do anything else, they needed to free the victim. Satoshi took in a deep breath and released it slowly, "I'm only going to tell you one more time, release him." Glaring, he pointed his shinai at the leader to emphasize his point.
Not wanting to get beat up like his friends, the leader screamed and ran off, dropping his grip on his victim. It was safer and better for his health to runaway instead of try to fight.
"Hey are you alright?" Satoshi asked.
"Umm yah," the student was still a little shaky and in shock over the turn of events.
Chika looked the guy over and he appeared to be fine, "Who are you?"
"I'm Hajime Sanada. I just started this week and am in class 1A. Thank you for saving me," he bowed low.
"I'm Satoshi Morinozuka and this is Yasuchika Haninozuka. We're both in class 2A," the kendo captain stated.
Glancing at his watch, Chika spoke to his best friend, "We have to go or we'll be late."
Scratching the back of his head, Satoshi nodded, "You're right." He turned to the new student and smiled, "We'll see you around."
Little did they know that Hajime had decided to follow them and join the judo club in order to learn how to protect himself, and to get closer to his two saviors.
