Hey Guys! I'm back! Hope you enjoy this chapter! I know I did! It's pretty short, but this is the second to last chapter and there wasn't anything I could do with it to make it longer. If I did, it would all be filler stuff. Anyways, hope you enjoy! As always, Read and Review!
Eli's POV
"Why isn't she answering?" I asked. "It's been three days."
"I don't know. I think she is running. She wants to get away from anything that reminds her of that place." Adam responded. "Even if that means she cuts us out too."
He was sitting at the desk, turning the chair back and forth. He has been trying to understand just like I have, but with just as much luck as I have been having. Clare has been ignoring his calls too.
"But she doesn't need to run. Things were good. With us I mean. I don't see why she would get so upset about something like this." I sighed, dialing Clare's number again and putting the phone to my ear.
"She probably feels hurt. She feels betrayed. By her family. By K.C.. By us. Everyone. She doesn't have anyone who hasn't done something to her. She only has Jake right now. So she's going to close up. Until she figures this all out." Adam continued, as I listened to the phone ring. When it went to voice mail, I hung up without leaving a message.
"I just wish she would talk to me." I sighed again.
"She'll talk when she's ready." Adam stated. "I'm sorry, by the way. I know you had everything planned out about what to say to the police, and I know you had everything planned out with what you were going to say to Clare. I'm sorry that I am partly at fault for it all going south. I know Derek ratted us out, but at the same time I screwed it up, and I lied to her as well."
"It's fine, Adam. Don't worry about it. I know you did what you thought would help us out. We already talked about this. I understand. And about the lying? You weren't the only one keeping secrets. Even if you didn't keep secrets, she'd still be pissed at me. So don't worry too much about it." He nodded before speaking again.
"Come on. Let's get out of this hotel room, and go somewhere. We don't need the cops anymore, so we can do anything. We can check out that comic store downtown." Adam suggested.
"I don't really feel like going out right now. I think I'm going to keep calling her. And maybe drop by her house if I need to." I said, beginning to dial her number again.
"Eli. Get a hold of yourself. She isn't responding. She doesn't want to talk. Which means she won't answer. And she won't answer the door if she doesn't want to. You don't even know where Jake lives." Adam retorted.
"I'll go to her house. I'll ask her family. If they want to get rid of me, they'll tell me." I reasoned.
"That's a way to get her talk to you. To talk with the only family she has, who are trying to shun her at the moment." Adam said, shaking his head. "I'm getting you out of this room. Even if I have to have your parents make you. You can call her later."
"Fine." I groaned, standing up, before following Adam out of the door.
Adam tried to get me to cheer up. He took me to comic stores all over the city, and we discovered some pretty cool places. I just couldn't enjoy them. Nothing Adam did worked. I felt bad because I knew he was seriously trying. I just couldn't get Clare out of my head. She was the reason we were free. She was the reason I didn't get myself killed in here. She was my everything and I screwed it all up. I wouldn't be happy until I got her back.
"Eli. Seriously. You need to cheer up. There's nothing you can do if she isn't willing to talk." He stated.
"I know. I think I just need to go for a walk or something. I just need some time to myself." I sighed.
He nodded, but didn't say anything as he watched me walk away.
