Awakening

*Glares at people in dining room.* If you say I own anything I think I just might cry, so shut the fuck up because I'm NOT in the fucking mood.

Few moments before, Tony's POV

There was a loud commotion over the com and a smidgen of worry appeared in my gut. Something hadn't happened had it? I mean sure, the whole Helicarrier was crawling with Loki's men, but I just hoped that nothing had happened on Rogers end.

The debris fell away as my laser finished cutting through it, the whole process not taking longer than thirty seconds.

"What's going on over there? Is everything alright on your end?" I asked, trying to keep my voice steady, we really didn't need anything else going wrong.

"I have some...unexpected and uninvited company." Rogers replied his voice tight and I could practically see him fighting. I glanced down at the screen and almost hit myself, Rogers' life sign was now lost in a swarm of life signatures. Damn, that wasn't supposed to happen!

"I'd take care of it," I stated as I got behind the rotor. Sure, trying to start the engine back up at the moment wasn't the best idea, but if we put much more pressure on the other three then one might give.

My thrusters flared to full capacity and with a whining grind the metal slowly started to move. "'Cause I still need you to flip that switch."

"I know," Rogers stated, and I swore that I heard gunfire in the background. "Don't worry."

Another explosion rocked the Helicarrier and a dropping sensation appeared in my stomach as I started spinning. Crap that was another engine!

I pushed harder against the metal, ignoring the sparks that were flying in front of my eyes. Between the fact that we now only had two working turbines, and the background noise coming from the com, I was starting to get worried about our situation...even more than I already was.

I sure the hell didn't want to die here...that would be a crappy way to go.

"Stark! We're falling out of the sky!" Rogers exclaimed in worry, noticing our decent.

"Yeah, I think I noticed Rogers!" I exclaimed, as I watched our altitude drop on the HUD. Damn it! Damn it all! "I'm trying here!"

Finally I started speeding up; maybe I wouldn't die here after all.

Third POV

Coulson's eyes flickered between the three Asgardians in front of him, and wondered why he even bothered to come. He knew that he really shouldn't get involved in a fight between family, but still. Fury had told him to be here, and he was standing on his last leg with the man anyway. It was better to just follow orders at this point.

"Are you ever not going to fall for that, Brother?" Loki taunted Thor as he turned towards the blonde, completely ignoring his daughter.

Coulson raised an eyebrow as Hel's expression darkened, ok, sure Loki had issues, but saying one thing to a girl then ignoring her wasn't the best idea.

"Though I must admit," Loki continued, walking towards Thor, still ignoring Hel. "It always was one of your more amusing traits."

Thor glared at his brother in announced but was still man enough to admit his faults. "Aye, tis one of my faults, that has not changed since childhood."

Thor's eyes flickered over to Hel for a moment before continuing, "Though, tis not I who ignores thy own blood."

Loki didn't even seem fazed by Thor's comment, and Hel practically growled. Her eyes narrowed, and Coulson swore that they turned red as her hands lit up with black energy. He gulped and his grip on his weapon tightened, he would need it to survive if this went downhill.

Seeing that Hel wasn't going to strike, Thor raised his hammer and struck the glass, causing Coulson to sigh. The glass didn't break but the latches holding the container did loosen. Coulson knew that if Thor struck the glass again, then he would be released into a freefall.

"Anger always was another of your faults," Loki continued in the same drawl before launching into a speech. "Did you know the humans think us immortal? They are so ignorant to the true workings of the universe."

A black blast slid back his head and Loki froze for a moment before continuing to ignore his daughter. Thor, his face now contorted with rage, glared at his brother. Thor thought not of Loki's actions on Asgard, but of the actions he had caused since arriving on earth. He had killed innocents, he had caused trouble, tried to disrupt the Balance that they had been taught to protect! He had caused Lady Penny to be revealed, and Hel to be working overtime. He was ignoring his daughter, ranting on his long since past views!

Thor knew that if he didn't get some sense into this brother's head then his sister-in-law would; and it wouldn't be pretty.

Even if someone else was manipulating him.

"You seem so angry with me," Loki stated with a tilted head as he gazed at his brother and shifted his weight closer to the control panel. "I am curious, what could I have possibly done in my short stay here that has angered you so?"

Coulson, Hel, and Thor all growled at that, Penny flashing through their minds. Still, Loki's attention never wavered from Thor. Hel motioned Coulson to get on the other side of the Asgardian and he nodded. Moving slowly and carefully, he circled around. If they pinned Loki down they might have a chance before he caused Thor to go crashing to the earth below.

"These humans are still young!" Thor exclaimed, seeing his niece's plan and knowing that he had to keep his brother's attention. "They aren't yet ready to know the truth of the universe!"

Coulson paused for a moment, to look between the Asgardians with confusion, what were they going on about now?

He shook his head, and continued his slow and careful pace. Dealing with Loki came first.

Hel's own eyes narrowed, and she had to stop herself from scowling. Thor was right; humans just weren't ready to know about Immortals!

"And once again brother, your actions have caused harm, and death to befall upon a person I know to be a friend!" Thor stated anger in his voice. Penny's bloody form flashed in his mind's eye and it took all of his power to stop himself from striking at the glass again. He chose not to share the suspicion regarding the young girl's identity to his brother. If he believed him ignorant, then he would disregard her when she returned; and return she would.

Seeing Coulson and Hel almost in position he continued, only a few more moments were needed…

"You are in the wrong Brother; you know what exists in the world beyond our own. You know that the things you have meddled in aren't to be touched by our kind!" Thor's eyes widened as his brother's eyes flashed purple and pure fear settled in his stomach. So, that was who played his brother like a pawn.

Thor ignored his previous thought, if it truly wasn't his brother, then it could only be a higher power; and a higher power knew who the Lady Penny truly was.

"Aye," Thor agreed, desperate to keep the attention of the person in front of him. "My ire with you has grown. You are the one most in tune with the other side of our world brother, out of all of our people."

Thor chose his words carefully, knowing that he could not reveal to the human in the room who Lady Penny was. Hel surely knew, and as he glanced at his niece, she nodded.

Feeling encouraged, he continued. If there was anything left in his brother fighting…there would be one thing that could break him free.

"And yet you haven't been able to feel the power that dances in the air here, the familiarity must strike you Brother. It's the same power that danced around us as we grew, it is the same power that taught you your knowledge. The same power that practically raised us up. Can you not recall it brother? The feeling? The power? It still lingers even here, the feeling of Immortality wrapped within Mortality."

Coulson was growing more and more confused at Thor's words. Was there another player in this game that they weren't aware of?

He almost shuttered at the thought. They already had one unknown, they didn't need another one.

"I would have thought that you of all people would recall." Thor's voice darkened as Hel and Coulson moved into place. "After all, he was the most important to you, and calls your daughter friend."

Hel's hands were surrounded with black energy, and it swirled with power. Coulson flipped the switch on the large, and butt ugly, Phase 2 contraption that he had snagged out of the armory. The gun whirled to life and he aimed right at the black haired man. He just needed Thor's signal…

"You claim that your family means nothing to you." Thor stated, suddenly seeing a way to free his brother's mind. "Yet, you have done everything to look at your daughter, to acknowledge that she is here. Do you fear that hate will reside in her eyes? Are you content to allow your daughter to hate you for eternity, all because of a few misguided actions?"

Hel froze at Thor's words, not expecting her uncle to deal such a low blow.

"And I thought bringing him into it was low…" Hel thought in awe.

For a moment Thor's plan seemed to work, and Hel relaxed her arms. His eyes flickered back to green, and his stance shifted slightly. He made eye contact with his daughter, before Fati's control came crashing back.

A cold hard mask settled into place and Loki's sneer became more prominent than ever.

"Should we test just how 'immortal' we are?" Loki asked with a drawl and all three slumped in defeat. It was like the whole conversation had been erased from his mind; and it most likely had. "Prove the humans wrong? Oh, you know how they loath to be wrong."

With a sigh, Thor twitched his hand and with perfect timing both Hel and Coulson attacked. Coulson with narrowed eyes filled with fury and Hel with slight hesitation; before she remembered that it was Fati pulling the strings.

The bright blue and black blasts sped straight at Loki at an alarming speed. He looked over, and his eyes widened in shock before he was blasted back into the wall.

"Good enough of a morality test for you?" Coulson drawled and Hel wanted to smack him. He had been spending way too much time around Tony.

He let his arms rest and turned towards the other two, "I always wondered why these things would do...there've been a few of us around here who've wanted to test these out on your brother for a while now. They were first made after the whole Destroyer incident...which, by the way, very unoriginal name."

Sadly, Coulson started his speech too soon as Loki was back on his feet almost instantly, smoking slightly but otherwise fine. He threw out his arm and the control panel lit up. Time seemed to freeze, and the three shared a horrified look before the airlock opened up and Thor vanished through the hole.

"THOR!" Hel yelled with wide eyes and jumped out into the air after her uncle, leaving Coulson alone with Loki.

Gulping, Coulson lifted the gun back into position. Clicking a button to increase the power he swallowed, they left him here with Loki...how was that fair!?

"Want to find out what it does on full power?" Coulson asked as Loki stalked forward, trying to hide his fear. "I'd love to."

Taunting an insane Asgardian who could kill you...yeah, Stark had rubbed off on him alright.

What happened next was almost too fast for Coulson to see. The Staff appeared in Loki's hand and suddenly, the man was behind him. He tried to stab the agent, but a bright blue shield shimmered into view just in time. With a loud, zing like noise; Coulson was thrown back into a wall.

Thankfully, he had managed to keep a tight hold on the gun and as he crumbled to the floor, he took his best aim and fired.

Loki tried to sidestep it, but the blast was too large and moving too fast. He was slammed backwards, this time going through the wall, leaving a large, black, scorched hole behind.

"Huh," Coulson said slowly, blinking in shock. "That's what it does on full power…"

Coulson glanced at the airlock in worry, before standing and making his way to the console. One button later and the airlock slid closed. Phil sighed, hoping that the two Asgardians were alright.

Finding Loki gone Coulson abandoned the Phase 2 weapon and started walking towards the bridge. He was still confused as to what Thor had been talking about, but he had lost his com and Fury would want to know of the latest developments. He would have time to contemplate the universe, and Asgardians, later.
