#18… Fight off an overzealous blond Host Club president or other person that is trying to glomp you – self-explanatory
#39… Hit a pair of twins simultaneously – Twins like to do things together and this will ensure they are hit together. It has been tested out on Hikaru-senpai and Kaoru-senpai.
#79… Threaten unwanted visitors (such as those from the Host Club or Otakus) – waiving around a shinai is enough of a threat that they will leave on their own usually. Some are harder to get rid of and that is when you can actually hit them.
A normal weekend for Haruhi was cleaning, grocery shopping, taking care of her father, spending time with her boyfriend (dear reader since Mori was in college and Haruhi had just entered her 3rd year of Ouran, they didn't get to see each other as much as they wanted), and praying that her schedule would not be disrupted by the Host Club's surprise visits. Ever since they (or we should probably say he dear reader, since it was more Tamaki than Kyoya and Hunny) graduated, Tamaki and the others (again dear reader the real culprit was only one person) had decided they needed to spend more time with Haruhi and that usually meant showing up unannounced at her place of residence.
However, as annoying as it was (and it was very annoying), she did like hanging out with her friends… just not in abundance. For example, when she was on a date with Mori, she would prefer to be alone with him rather than the whole group tagging along. Or when she was at the grocery store, she would rather not make it a field trip time and time again (dear reader, she was beginning to think a grocery store was above their understanding since she seemed to say the same thing every time they went… Kyoya and Mori were the only ones that didn't ask the same questions over and over again. Then again dear reader, Hunny's questions always started with "can I have" or "can we get").
This weekend though was going to be different. The twins were at a show with their mother and Tamaki was visiting his mother in France, and Kyoya had better things to do than to just show up without being dragged their first by his best friend. It was perfect.
It quickly went from perfect to disaster.
Since she had to clean, Haruhi informed Mori that when he got there to just let himself in. She tended to put the music on and depending on how loud she cranked it, she might or might not hear the doorbell.
And this dear reader is where she made the mistake.
Satoshi had recently downloaded some new songs to her IPod and since the twins broke her docking station during their last trip by taking it apart to see how it worked, she had to use headphones. Placing her mp3 player into her pocket, Haruhi turned up the music and ignored everything around her. Her father was gone, her shopping was done, the guys were out of town, and Mori was on his way. Add to that the fact the day was bright and sunny, and it was turning into the perfect day.
Due to weather in France, Tamaki's flight was delayed and after he talked to his mother, it was decided that visiting the next weekend would be better… for some reason or another (dear reader it could have also been the fact that Tamaki's father had surprised his mother with a spa getaway, forgetting this was the weekend Tamaki was supposed to go and visit).
The twins also found themselves free that weekend since they had the date wrong. The show was actually in two weeks and therefore, they didn't have to get on a plane and leave Japan. They were free and that meant they could play with their toy.
The trio converged on Haruhi's apartment at the same time and after a little bit of arguing in the parking lot (which dear reader once again attracted a crowd), they ran up the stairs to see who could get there first… Tamaki somehow managed to win. (I know you want to know how… don't you dear reader?) Taking his cue from Satoshi, the blond pulled out a shinai from that mysterious space in the anime world that houses everything from food and drinks to tanks and cars… and yes, that even includes a simple shinai. Taking aim, he hit them both at the same time, sending them forward so that they hit their faces on a step, jumped over them and arrived the door before the twins had fully recovered. When Hikaru and Kaoru caught up, they both had an indentation and red line going across their faces. There would be retribution later.
Knocking on the door (read banging like a maniac dear reader), Tamaki tried to get Haruhi to answer before the twins got there, but it was no use. The twins arrived and no one answered the door. Placing his ear against the door with a glass he pulled out of that same space, he could hear the sounds of vacuuming and very bad singing. She broke the glass. Wait, was that singing or was that screaming for help? Needless to say, Tamaki let his inner mind theatre take over and all hell broke loose.
"HARUHI! DON'T WORRY. I'M COMING!" The princely type bellowed and used his shoulder to try and break the door down.
Hikaru and Kaoru were suddenly very scared for their friend and asked, "Boss, what's going on?"
Backing up in order to try to break down the door again, Tamaki's frown intensified as he explained, "Men, our Haruhi is in there and in trouble. She is screaming for help from her daddy and this door is standing in our way. We need to rescue her for her sake and because Mori-senpai is counting on us to protect her!"
"Right!" The twins agreed unanimously.
Haruhi could hear the banging even breaking through her music and suddenly stopped what she was doing. It wasn't Mori because her fiancé knew to walk on it, which is why the door was unlocked. Who could be trying to break in though? If it wasn't for the fact Tamaki, Hikaru, and Kaoru were gone, she might actually believe it was them, but it couldn't be.
"Hey boss, did you try the door?" Kaoru asked. Turning the knob, the door opened easily and forced Tamaki and Hikaru to sweat drop. Although, he also believed if Tamaki used his kick instead of shoulder, the door would have broken free from the hinges.
"Haruhi's tormenter must have left it open. Oh my poor little girl!" Tamaki cried out.
"SHHHH!" The twins chastised him and carefully entered the home.
They weren't careful enough. Hearing a child squeal downstairs caused Tamaki to jump and knock a glass to the floor where it shattered into hundreds of pieces.
Hearing the sound of the glass breaking, Haruhi left the vacuum running and grabbed her shinai. She carefully peeked around the corner and face palmed. Jumping out from her hiding place, she swung her bamboo blade through the air and growled, "What are you three doing here? You are supposed to be gone this weekend! How dare you break into my house!"
"We didn't break in," Hikaru commented taking a step towards her and then quickly took a step back. He barely missed being hit with the practice sword.
"That's right, the door was unlocked," Kaoru's voice was nervous and his chuckle was forced, afraid to move forward because he didn't want to be hit.
Tears running down his face, Tamaki was not cautious and ran forward, "Haruhi, daddy came to save you!" Before he knew it, he felt like he was flying through the air and then landing with a hard thump on the floor. Haruhi had tripped him with the shinai. "Ha…ru…hi?"
"Leave!" She ordered.
"Why, we came to visit you!" The twins retorted.
She spun the shinai in her hands and smirked, "See what happened to him? I can do the same to you."
"Haruhi, put down the shinai," Mori said as he entered the room.
"But Takashi, they just…"
"I know, but they're your friends," he replied and then studied the three intruders, "Besides, I think Hikaru and Kaoru are about to faint."
"WE ARE NOT!" The twins yelled.
Mori gazed at them for a moment before instructing them, "Leave, she is busy today." He already knew his fiancée has some things she wanted to accomplish and having visitors would not allow that to happen. Plus she was supposed to come over to his house later for tea and dinner.
"That's not fair Mori-senpai. You have to share her," Hikaru whined.
"We know you're engaged, but she's our toy!" Kaoru argued.
Before they could say anything else, Tamaki got up from the floor and dusted himself off, "Now, now my good Mori-senpai. You have plenty of time to spend with her alone, and our time is so few and far between. We want to have quality time with her as well and haven't seen her in such a long period of time." He could have won an academy award for his performance (dear reader, the club had come over to Haruhi's home the weekend before, and the graduated members had visited during club hours at school).
Deadpanning, Mori's shook his head and glared, "Leave. You saw her last weekend and at school. She is busy today."
All three hosts were deathly afraid of what that glare could mean since he could almost be just as lethal as Hunny. Therefore it was in their best interest (and health) to leave the premises. "Sorry, we just realized we forgot we had plans," they declared together and ran out of the apartment.
Shutting the door and locking it this time, Mori gave his girlfriend a small smile and took the shinai from her before pulling her close for a hug and bending over for a kiss.
Haruhi gave in to the gentle embrace and smiled as she thought, "Well, a shinai might work to scare unwanted guests, but a fiancé with a killer glare works even better."
