Awakening

*eats chips and salsa* I own nothing *crunch*

Penny's POV

"What do you need?" Charles asked without hesitation, though the other three all shared a look; unsure and weary of me.

I sighed and leaned back again the stainless steel gurney. Just because I had my memories and power back did mean that I was indestructible, or stable. I had my memories, but they were all floating around my mind, not in their proper place. I knew from previous Awakenings that I needed to resort them soon, or my mental stability would fail even more.

However, I needed to restore Balance, deal with Fati, and make sure Dad was alright before I could dive back into my mind...my Duties twitched, as the Tesseract opened the portal, reminding me what I needed to do now.

Charles also felt the energetic shockwave, and sent me a questioning look, knowing that strange phenomenon's were my specialty.

"At this moment, in New York City, there is a massive inter-dimensional crisis going on." I stated causing everyone's eyes to widen and for them to freeze.

"Don't worry," I reassured them, mostly Charles, "The matter shall be taken care of, and I don't believe that it will be necessary for your people to interfere. However, I do believe that it will get quite bloody, and shall need your help cleaning up. It would be good publicity for the X-men, not to mention I know that SHIELD will appreciate it."

Charles nodded slowly, his mind whirling as Storm and Jean both rounded on me.

"What do you mean inter-dimensional crisis?!" Jean exclaimed in suspicion and confusion, the inner scientist in her sparked.

"What do you mean bloody?! We won't stand by as a massacre goes on!" Storm exclaimed and I chuckled before calming their worries.

"There will be as few human casualties as possible, this I can assure you." I claimed, and a bit of my power leaked through into my voice.

"Human casualties?!" Both girls exclaimed as Logan locked his jaw. I sighed and poked at my energy a bit. I wasn't sure if it would work, but I had seen Insania and Infinitas do it all the time.

I wave my hand, and channeled my power through my arm, the air crackled with power and a large spark popped before I pushed harder and a viewing screen appeared.

"Success!" I muttered to myself, and focused the image to NY, or more specifically, the giant portal above New York. I smirked as I saw Dad in the suit, flying towards the portal. At least he appeared to be alright.

"What the!?" Both girls exclaimed as they leaned towards the shield and I smiled at the looks of awe on their faces. Oh, I loved humans.

"Damn, those things are ugly!" Logan growled to himself as he too shifted towards the screen. I glanced over at it to see that it had zoomed in, and the group had just gotten a close up on a Chitauri.

"They're called the Chitauri, and they are the things we're going to need your help cleaning up when we're done. They don't deserve to be put in a lab, even in death." I sighed, thinking of the government agencies, good and bad, that I've encountered over the years.

All four mutants nodded in agreement, they could understand that better than anyone else.

"What if our assistance is needed?" Charles asked looking up at me with a knowing and worried look in his eye.

I sighed, realizing that I had no idea how many Chitauri there were...we might need their help.

"Fine, you all can monitor the situation in New York, but don't interfere unless I tell you." I growled, letting my aura flash; Charles was the only one who didn't flinch in fear. "If, and only if, your help is needed I will let Charles know, and he will tell you where your help is needed."

"Of course," Charles nodded; he had long ago learned that sometimes, you should just listen to me.

I closed my eyes briefly, and let the screen faded as my Duties sparked again. My green eyes flashed again as I opened them and I shook my head, I needed to get to New York. Fati had overstepped into my Realm too many times.

"Charles, there's a few things I'm going to see to here, and then I'm departing." I stated as I pushed away from the table and strode towards the door.

"Am I right to assume that you're seeing to the shields? I'm afraid to say that they've fallen into great disrepair since your...departure." Charles commented, turning around and accompanying me.

I nodded, though that wasn't the only thing I was doing. I glanced down at my old friend and mentally sighed. Xavier could hide it well, but I knew the man better. He was practically bursting with questions and I knew that once things were over, we would have to sit down and talk...or he would make me.

"I promise we'll talk once this is over." I told him quietly as the other three scrambled to follow us.

"I'll hold you to it." He stated seriously and gave me a small glance.

"But of course." I chuckled as the door the med bay slid open and we almost ran into Cyclops.

"Professor! We just got a report in from a contact in New York! They're claiming that there are aliens! We're trying to get a visual now sir, what should we do?" He asked, his eyes flickering between everyone in the room. Just because no one else could see his eyes, didn't mean I couldn't.

"I'm aware of the situation Scott, monitor it for now, and I'll let you know if we need to ready the jet." Xavier said simply, and Scott nodded slowly. "Oh, and make sure none of the children panic, would you? We don't need any overreactions."

I chuckled again as I maneuvered past the stunned man, and through the bright halls. While a lot of things had been updated, and some of it expanded, I still knew this place like the back of my hand.

"Storm, Jean, go help Scott. Logan, you should come with us. I believe that you will want to see this." Charles directed with mirth in his tone. A smile flickered across my face as I remembered Charles' reaction to the shield's (to be honest, they were wards) that I had constructed around the school, and the first time that he had seen them.

It was priceless.

There was a few mumbles from the others, but they followed the orders as I caught sight of my reflection in the metal wall. My hair was disheveled, but that was to be expected. The most noticeable change in my appearance was the fact that my whole face was now framed with silver locks, instead of just my left side.

But that wasn't the only change, my eyes. My bright green, killing curse eyes were back. It was strange that it was the color of my eyes that stayed constant, after my Awakening, each lifetime. Everything else changed, my hair, my gender and even my personality shifted a bit. During my existence, I had fallen in love with my bright green eyes; they were the one thing that never changed, even after all these years.

I then noticed the state of the rest of my appearance and grimaced, that wouldn't do. Sadly, my gauntlets had been destroyed in my fight with Romanoff, and the rest of my little toys were either gone or not on me. My bracelet-tracker was still resting on my wrist, and I was surprised to see that it was still working; I was also surprised to see that I still had the com in my ear. That would come in handy.

Sneering at the hospital clothes, my energy flared and with my next step I was back in my correct attire, my Immortal battle attire.

My silver cloak wrapped around my shoulders and fell to the floor in a fabric waterfall. This cloak couldn't be destroyed, as it was part of my Immortal energy, otherwise it would've been ashes ages ago. I had dragonhide, midnight blue leggings that were thick but flexible, and appeared to be leather. My tank top was dark silver, and the material wasn't found in most worlds, and I had no idea what it was called. It was as thin and soft as silk, but as resilient as the dragonhide, if not more.

Messing with the materials a bit, I merged my usual dragon-hide boots with my silver ones, keeping the best qualities of the two, and it also eliminated the things I didn't like. These boots came up to my knee, with a two inch, thin, heel. They appeared black, but shimmered in light as if they were coated with silver. A buckle sat on my ankle, and another at the top, both engraved with the Deathly Hallows sign, along with the Immortal's insignia.

I was quite happy with them. They were metal reinforced dragonhide...of course I loved them!

The Ring that was the combined Hallows remained on my finger, though the stone faded from black to white, and the gold changed to a white-gold. The Hallows choker that Mortem had given me still sat in the nape of my neck, but the ribbon was now silver and the symbol black, the reverse of what it had been previously.

I hadn't stopped moving the entire transformation, but the others had.

"Oh my."

I turned around to see everyone staring at me with wide eyes. Logan, Scott, Jean and Storm were shocked more than anything else, while Charles was worried and surprised. He remembered this cloak, though he had only seen it a few times.

I wore it whenever something heavy duty was doing down, something that called for my Immortal status. Not that he knew that tidbit of information of course.

I smirked at them briefly before I turned on my heel and continued down the hall.

"Come now, it's not like you haven't seen a girl before." I drawled as I made my way up into the main part of the mansion.

"Oh, and Jarvis," I said, knowing that the AI was listening in. "Tell Dad that I'll be there in a few."

The others looked at me in confusion for the billionth time as they started following me again.

"Of course Miss Penny." Jarvis replied, sounding absolutely thrilled. "And may I say, it's good to have you back."

I chuckled again as I stepped out into the main hallway and glanced at the beautiful wooden walls.

"It's good to be back, Jar, it's good to be back."
