A/N: I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and New Year's. Here is a request from Shortie87. If you have a request for one of the uses or a story idea for one of the uses, you can either pm me or put it in a review. This story will be going on until I finish all 101 uses. Enjoy! Question for you… I used Akio in one of the stories (Haruhi and Mori's son), would you like to see some of the other kids appear in some of these stories?
#27… Javelin – a well-balanced shinai can sail through the air and be used as a replacement javelin for your track and field days.
#44… Tie catnip on end and watch cat get high – very effective.
Satoshi had been called to his cousin's house early on a Sunday morning… very early… just after dawn when he had stayed up half the night watching a movie marathon. Yes, he was supposed to be sleeping and his parents had no idea he had been up until four in the morning, but he couldn't help it! They were some of his favorite cheesy horror movies, and besides he hadn't been able to sleep anyway; probably because he had gotten into a fight with the same cousin who had called him and his gut didn't feel right leaving things the way he had. It wasn't his fault… well maybe it was, but he really thought that Chika was being a complete and total ass. How was Satoshi supposed to know the younger Haninozuka was skipping practice because he was defending Haruhi? Well, he could have asked, but Chika should have told him before they got into the fight (I know you want to know what happened dear reader, so I will tell you).
Flashback…
Walking into the dojo, Satoshi Morinozuka fully expected to see Chika warming up or getting things ready for their club practice, but he found his best friend and cousin missing… again. There were a couple of members that had arrived early, however, none of them were the captain of the karate team. This may have been okay (well not really dear reader since we all know Satoshi attacked Chika before in regards to the same infraction) when Chika was in middle school and maybe his first year in high school, but he was a second year now and he should be more responsible; at least, Satoshi believed that to be the case.
After ordering the couple of members that were already in the dojo to start practice without them, the tall second year started to march towards the school in search of the missing captain, all the while muttering to himself about how irresponsible Chika could be at times. He would find him and he would drag him to the dojo even if he had to knock him unconscious. He really wouldn't do that (maybe), but it was a good threat.
It took him about thirty minutes, but he finally found his wayward cousin having a standoff with three third years. What he failed to notice was the brunette standing behind the karate captain. Without asking questions, Satoshi gripped the shinai he held in his hands and took action. Pulling his arm back, he released the shinai, throwing it like a javelin. Although it worked in a track and field scenario, it also worked inside a building… Chika was his target, and he hit him on the side of the head knocking him sideways.
And that was when Satoshi realized he messed up.
One of the third years seeing the shorter teen taken out, reached for the brunette and grabbed her, pulling her forward, "Don't worry. We just want to get to know you better."
"Oh shit!" Satoshi witnessed how his hastey actions may have caused trouble. Rushing forward, he yelled, "Get away from Haruhi! That's my brother's fiancée!"
The trio of third years (dear reader they were all from class D or they may have been smarter about trying to hit on Haruhi) turned their heads and their eyes widened in shock. Sure they felt the three of them could take on Chika regardless of his reputation for murdering people with one chop just like his brother, but they didn't think they could take on Chika and Satoshi at the same time.
With their attention distracted, Haruhi acted. Her fellow students should have never underestimated her. Stomping on the foot of the teen that had his arms around her, she punched him in the stomach as soon as he had loosened his grip, and then she grabbed his arm and sent him sailing over her head and crashing to the ground.
Satoshi and Chika took care of the other two, and when the three trouble makers had been dealt with, the karate captain turned on his cousin, "Why the hell did you do that?"
"I thought you were skipping practice!" Satoshi raised his voice in defense.
"I was, but it was because those thugs were bothering Haruhi!"
"Well how was I supposed to know that?"
"Easy, you look and observe with your eyes baka!"
This went on for another five minutes before Chika grabbed the shinai from the ground and swung it at his cousin. As he left Haruhi and Satoshi behind, he said, "Satoshi, I think you need to stay away from me for a while."
Gasping, Satoshi ran a hand through his hair. He really messed up this time.
"Don't worry. He is just upset," Haruhi tried to comfort her future brother-in-law.
"Yah… maybe. Come on, we need to call Taka-bro and let him know what happened."
"WHY?"
"How else are you going to explain your torn dress? I can already see the bruise on your arm."
"Oh. Well, if I wear sweaters, he won't be able to see."
"I don't think so."
Sighing, Haruhi finally relented, "I'll call him; you go to practice."
"I think it's better if I skip today…" Satoshi sounded down and lost. Never before had he seen that look of rage on Chika's face, not even for Hunny. He had really crossed the line this time and he didn't think his friend was going to forgive him any time soon.
End Flashback…
How wrong he had been. Actually, Satoshi didn't know if he was forgiven, but he had been called and ordered to rush over to the Haninozuka estate at the crack of dawn. So that had to be a good thing… right?
Rubbing his eyes, he walked up to the porch and just as he was about to enter the house, the door flew open to reveal a scratched up and blood Chika, "What happened?"
"My mom's new cat thinks I'm a scratching post," the other teen growled. His shirt was torn and it looked more like he had been mauled by a lion instead of a small cat.
"Wait. The one my mom gave her? Isn't it just a kitten?"
"That thing is a menace!" Chika seethed. "Get in here now!"
"What am I supposed to do?"
"You are going to deal with it. I don't care if you get it out of the house or take it home with you!"
Slowly entering the home, Satoshi saw the little white kitten stalking towards Chika. The little puffball looked like it was hunting prey and just as it leaped into the air, the second Morinozuka son, caught the bundle of fur… and proceeded to be scratched up until he looked much like Chika much to his cousin's amusement. "This isn't funny!"
"Yes, it is. That little devil cat came into my room and pounced on me this morning. I'm not even sure how it got in my room. I would blame Mitsukuni, but he wasn't here last night. Everyone thinks that… that thing is cute and you can see for yourself that it is pure evil!"
"Why'd you call me?"
"Who else was I supposed to call?"
"I thought you hated me."
"You can make up for your stupidity by dealing with the cat of Satin!"
Shaking his head, Satoshi chuckled, "I got it. I got it." As per their fashion, they never could stay mad at each other for long. Just as he was about to pick up the little kitten to pet it, the white puff attacked again leaving his shirt hanging on his torso by a mere thread, and now he had as many scratches as Chika. "This really is a demon cat!"
"I told you so!"
The taller of the teens looked around the room and found something sitting in a corner. Pulling out a shinai, he said, "I've got an idea." Running towards the mouse, he grabbed it just as the cat jumped on Chika again. He could hear his cousin yelling as he worked to quickly secure the mouse to the end of the shinai with a string. When he was done, he carefully approached the kitten who had finally jumped off of its victim, "Here kitty, kitty, kitty." He shoved the end of the shinai with the mouse into the cats face and watched as the kitten's eyes widened, its pupils dilated, and it followed the bouncing mouse. Soon, the kitten was only interested in the new toy.
"What is that?"
"Catnip. This should save our hides for a while."
"Good job. I guess you are not so much of a baka that we can't be friends after all."
"Good to hear… just don't skip practice again without a good reason."
"I had a good reason this time," Chika growled.
"I know. I know. I got an earful from Haruhi about what I did," Satoshi grumbled (dear reader, he did too. And then his brother chastised him for interfering before he read the situation correctly. He would be sure to observe and then act accordingly in the future).
Chucking, the karate captain said, "Good. You deserved it. Her lectures can be harsh."
"Who are you telling? She and Taka-bro."
"So what are we going to do about the devil cat?"
"Give it to Tamaki-senpai or Hikaru-senpai and Kaoru-senpai?"
"Ha! They deserve it!"
As they plotted the demise of their senpai, the kitten happily played with its catnip and remained high for the majority of the morning. Lesson learned. Keep a lifetime supply of catnip in the house and around the kitten if you want to remain alive… and don't act without thinking or you might get into a fight and then lectured. Neither is fun.
