Third POV
"Bloody fucking hell!" Tony's curse echoed through the com as all of the Avengers, and all Mortals in viewing distance, all froze at the sight of the lightning.
Thor landed beside Rogers and Romanoff only moments after the lightning struck, but the lightning didn't fade for another twenty seconds.
"My god." Rogers gasped, he had no idea what was going on (Thor knew the most, with Tony a close second, and Bruce third) but the show of power that was the monster bolt of lightning was enough to make even him freeze.
Romanoff, Barton, and Bruce were shocked still, though Bruce was just surprised that Pen could even wield that much power. He had recognized her voice as it echoed through the city, before it focused only on the two Asgardians and her father.
That, and Hulk had sensed her and was extremely happy, which was weird to Bruce. Neither Bruce nor Hulk had any idea how Pen survived, ok, Hulk had a small idea, but they didn't care. They were both just too happy that their little flame was still alive.
Tony knew something was different about his daughter, and he knew that the first change they got he was going to sit her down and they were going to talk about what was going on. He didn't like not knowing things; he hated being left in the dark, especially when it concerned people he cared about.
Thor had already had the time to move through the shock of his Godfather being here. He had grown up around the Immortal, and he had told them his stories when they had been very young. That was why Loki and Thor thought that they would never see E're again, as he told them that the chances of him returning to the same dimension was slim.
What Thor didn't know was that this wasn't the second time that Penny had been in this specific world; it was just the second time that he had seen him.
The Chitauri had also become distracted by the lightshow, causing the Demons and Dementors to gain an even larger upper hand and as the light faded, it did to the song of Chitauri's death.
The bright light from the lightning faded and the world slowly turned back to its normal color.
Almost as if on a cue, Tony dropped out of the sky, Barton in his hands. Setting the archer on the ground Tony landed and his faceplate lifted up for the first time in a while.
"What on earth have we gotten ourselves into?" Barton whispered to himself as Hel appeared out of the shadows next to her uncle. Her gut was squirming with concern for her father, but also for her friend's mental state. Fati's energy was practically fog in the air, and that wasn't a good thing.
"Fear not," Thor stated his voice warm and strong. "E're is a friend, and an ally in this fight."
Rogers seemed to accept this, though Romanoff was still worried. Bruce and Tony both gave Thor questioning looks, wondering why he was calling Penny that.
"Boy, she's pissed." Hel commented flippantly, causing Tony and Bruce to nod to themselves.
"You know her?" Rogers asked, spinning around and staring at the young Asgardian. Hel chuckled, the Mortals' brains were so fried by now that they were running on auto pilot, and it was amusing. It just went to show how abnormal even human Starks were.
No one would ever admit it, but those who knew about Tony were impressed with his ability to handle the abnormal.
Tony looked up at the scorched Tower in thought, and wasn't surprised to see that the Arc was now running at double its strength, while the Tesseract was starting to become unstable. His daughter was badass after all.
"Of course." Hel replied with a knowing smirk and Tony shook his head. They would find out sooner or later, he just wanted this over with so that he could make sure his baby was ok.
Romanoff opened her mouth to ask something, but was cut off as E're appeared out of a swirl of mist and sparks.
"Explanations will have to wait until later," Her voice was quieter than it had been, and while the powerful undertone was still there, it was toned down a bit. "But now, we have work to do."
Hel, Tony, Bruce and Thor all nodded their heads. Either as Penny or E're, she was important to them, and they would be willing to do anything she asked…well, mostly anything.
"Hel, I believe that Mortem will require your assistance downstairs, as there is an overflow of NFE* Souls right now." E're stated simply. "I will make sure that they behave. It is time to end this."
Hel nodded, and she vanished into the nearest shadow, she knew that Pen could handle herself, but she wasn't sure about them.
"Sir, the Tesseract and Reactor are spiking again." Jarvis interrupted, echoing through everyone's coms and they all looked up to see three more of the whale things slither through with a blast of blue light.
E're staggered back a bit when the shockwave hit her and she sent an unseen scowl at the rift.
"Tony, Thor, please reduce those monsters to chunks while I reconstruct my shield around the event horizon. Romanoff head up and see if it's possible for you to shut down the Tesseract. Barton, Rogers," E're paused as she conjured more arrows for Barton. "Help them take down Chitauri and keep an eye on them; and Bruce,"
She turned towards her friend and smiled, though he couldn't see it. "I think it's time that Hulk takes the wheel."
Tony chuckled to himself as he saw everyone's confused expressions, besides Bruce, he just nodded.
Thor, deciding that it was better to listen to his godfather, jumped back into the air, following Tony who was speeding towards one of the whale-things.
"I think she meant that it's time you got angry." Rogers stated, trying to be helpful. Bruce, Tony, and E're all rolled their eyes.
Chuckling, Bruce turned towards Rogers as Romanoff ran off, not wanting to piss a very powerful person off, (she didn't know that she already had.)
"That's the thing, Cap." Bruce stated simply as one of the alien-whales appeared at the end of the street. "I'm always angry; I'm just not always Hulk."
With a nod to E're, Bruce turned and with one of the smoothest transformations the duo ever had, Hulk sneered at the aliens in anger.
"Hulk," E're stated softly and Hulk spun back around before his expression softened just slightly and tilted his head to the side in question.
"Smash." She commanded and a feral grin split across his face before he nodded once and jumped into the air, before crashing down to meet the whale-thing head on.
E're chuckled as everyone else hurried to do what she had said. With a sigh she reappeared on the top of a nearby building. She hadn't expected the Chitauri to be able to break through her shield, so she would have to put up a stronger one.
Reaching deep down into her Cores she wove all three types of energy together, the third feeling familiar but she still couldn't place it. Bringing all three energies to her hands she cast it out towards the portal, weaving them together like a net as she did.
The event horizon flashed dark blue and suddenly a silver shield appeared, stopping the rest of the Chitauri from coming through.
Smirking to herself, she watched as Thor and Tony worked together, using lightning and lasers to blow up one of the whale-things.
She appeared next to them in the air, and with a sweep of power the parts were reduced to ash. There was no need to make the city covered in more guts than necessary.
Tony chuckled as he hovered by his daughter.
"Ready to rock and roll?" He asked, and Pen chuckled as she heard the happiness in his voice.
"Of course!" She replied as Thor chuckled to himself, before shooting off more lightning towards the other alien-whale.
The Demons and Dementors had already taken care of most of the Chitauri, black mist and frost practically dancing in the air. Because E're's power was so tightly wrapped around the city, the inhabitants and Avengers were mostly protected from their dark presence.
"Stark," Romanoff growled and E're glanced down to see that she had highjacked a Chitauri scooter and was almost to the top of the Tower. "As soon as this is done, you have some major explaining to do."
Tony rolled his eyes before flying off to assist Thor, and E're was the only one who heard him mutter, "So do you."
"Oh," E're teleported right next to Tony and said loudly so that Thor could hear as well. "There's a weak spot right behind their fins, and their insides are highly combustible, so getting it to swallow a missile or lightning would be a good idea."
Thor and Tony nodded, and they both changed their attack plans, aiming for the exposed flesh and trying to get an opening into its mouth.
E're turned back towards the ground and was happy to see that Hulk was slowly but surely tearing the large whale-thing apart.
She glanced back up just at the right moment to see Thor firing a large bolt of lightning through its side, causing it to open its mouth in an earsplitting roar.
Tony shot forward, seeing an opening. "Jarvis, have you ever heard of Jonah?"
E're groaned as she shook her head, her attention being everywhere at once as Loki finally made a reappearance.
"I wouldn't call him a role model, sir." Jarvis sighed and it was like he was shaking his head.
"Barton!" Romanoff exclaimed, as E're spun around and glared at the Asgardian who was flying through the streets on one of the Chituari's scooters, blasting the streets apart with magic. Her eyebrow twitched and she vanished before reappearing on a roof, as she watched Loki's flight.
"Loki's on the move, heading your direction, think you can shoot him for me?"
Barton chuckled darkly as he notched an arrow. "That won't be a problem."
E're sighed, knowing that Barton wouldn't be able to hit him. She vanished and reappeared where a large portion of Demons were straying from the battle.
"Get back to helping," She growled and her eyes glowed menacingly, "Or Mortem won't be the one you have to worry about."
One specific Demon with red eyes glared at her before nodding the others back into the fight. E're glanced up in time to see two things happening at one. First, Tony flew right into the Chitauri's mouth, and Loki caught Barton's arrow only inches from his face.
E're sighed, she needed to take care of Loki, as it was obvious her Sister had intervened and saved him from that lightning strike. Otherwise he would be out of commission.
Her eyes then widened as the arrow exploded and Loki was sent flying back, crashing once again into the penthouse of Stark Tower.
She shook her head, and reappeared next to Loki. They were here again, how wonderful.
They were going to need a new Tower by the time they were done here.
Ok, I seriously thought that I'd have more of an updating schedule once summer started…obviously that hasn't happened.
I'll try to update as often as I can, my lack of updates the past few days was because I had a headache and writing with a headache isn't really pleasant.
Scratch that, headaches in general suck.
Hope you all enjoyed it,
