Awakening
Just because I made you wait doesn't mean I own anything!
Penny's POV
My eyes narrowed at the controlled Asgardian as he climbed to his feet, his hair smoking and a glare on his face.
"I'm with the Tesseract!" I heard Romanoff exclaim and I saw her jump onto the roof from the corner of my eye.
I opened my mouth but was stopped from saying anything as Hulk jumped onto the patio. He glanced between me and Loki with a questioning look on his face. I opened my mouth to tell him to let me deal with him, when my Duties flare.
I literally growled as I turned my focus inward, and my eyes flared with power.
How dare they!
"Take care of him for me," I growled out at Hulk before vanishing in a swirl of mist.
A couple of Dementors had somehow managed to wiggle their way free of my Bonded's and my enchantments. They were hungrily approaching a few trapped humans a few blocks outside of the main attack zone.
I could sense the whale-thing explode as Tony flew out of the debris, but I didn't focused on that, no. My entire mind was focused on the three Dementors that had dared to defy their orders!
I reappeared only two feet in front of the three Dementors, and five feet in front of the small family they were threatening.
The ground was covered in ice and the small five year old was already sobbing. They had escaped my net of magic that counteracted their negative effects. Right now, the small family of five was getting hit with the full force of the Dementors.
That was not right.
Time seemed to slow for me, and I knew that it was just because of the rage flowing through my veins and not because of interference from Infinitas.
The buried, third type of magic flared up in my chest as the Dementors' foul essence literally crept across my skin. It may no longer affect me, but I could still sense them.
"You disobeyed my, and my Bonded's, orders!" I growled and that power swirled up around me and my Soul begged me to kill them. "You will not be touching their Souls! EXPECTO PATRONUM MAXIMA!"
I wasn't even sure what happened, one moment I wanted to fry them, and suddenly in my rage my instincts took over and I shouted the spell that I had crafted during WWIII to destroy the Dementors.
I blamed my old instincts, but I couldn't help but gasp in surprise as a large silver phoenix burst out of my hand and flew through the Dementors, silver flames fanning out behind him.
My mouth literally dropped in shock as the Dementors let out a Soul piercing wail as they disintegrated. That surprised me even more then the fact that the third energy in my chest was my magic…my original magic.
Mortem had been trying to destroy Dementors for eons, literally, and I had just accomplished it with very little effort.
"Bloody hell…" I muttered to myself, my emotions fighting for dominance within my body. Though it was mostly joy and shock that battled for my attention; joy because of the fact that I once again had my magic…and shock because I had just proven Mortem wrong.
Dementors could be destroyed.
"I just vaporized three Dementors love." I told my Bonded as I tried to work through the shock of what I had done.
"What?!" Mortem's reply was instant and loud. "That's not possible; I've been trying to destroy them for eons!"
"I know…but…I did Mortem…and I did it with my magic! My original magic!" I exclaimed as my body slowly unfroze and the realization of what just happened snapped to mind.
Sure, in most of my lifetimes I had an aptitude for magic, but it was always that lives magic, it had never been my magic, the magic that I had learned at Hogwarts.
I had thought it lost to me forever millennia ago…
And now, now I could use it again!
My eyes widened and after whipping the memories of the mortals behind me, I vanished once again, this time, fully acknowledging the three balls of energy that sat in my chest.
"You always accomplished the impossible," Mortem chuckled in my mind fondly. "Congratulations love, you deserve it."
I reappeared in the middle of our destroyed living room in Stark Tower. I glanced around at the damage with a bland eye; we would have to redecorate again.
Loki seemed to be dazed, and as I slipped into my Souls Sight I could see his bright Soul fighting with the lavender magic that belonged to the Tesseract and Fati.
With a wave of my hand, and a flare of my power, a bright shield woven out of all three of my power appeared around him. Casting a monitoring charm on the Asgardian I strolled out to the balcony, and glanced down at the city.
My eyes were hard and cold as I watched Tony, Barton, the Demons and Dementors all take out the couple dozen Chitauri that remained. All of the whale creatures were dead, and the whole city smelled like…well, like burnt alien.
I felt a tug on my power and I glanced up to see more Chitauri trying to break their way through my shield. But this one was stronger than my previous one. The shield keeping them out was woven out of magic, my Sparks, and my Immortal abilities. They wouldn't be able to break it.
"Would you be a dear and call back the Demons and Dementors? Their presence is no longer needed." I asked Mortem through our Bond, and though he didn't reply verbally, I saw his answer as the shadows grew and swallowed the creatures moments later.
I let the web I created to keep the creatures in line fade, as it was no longer needed.
"Thanks love." I said as I glanced between Loki, who was starting to come to, and the Tesseract. Trying to decide which needed my attention first.
My decision was made for me however.
"Guy's I can't shut it down! The shield's to strong to bypass and everything has been encrypted too well!" Romanoff exclaimed, and I could hear the frustration in her voice.
I was surprised that she admitted that she couldn't do it.
Nodding to myself, I appeared behind Romanoff my jaw locked.
I had allowed this to go on for long enough.
"Go." I growled out to Romanoff, and she spun around, glancing at me in fear, before taking off and jumping down onto the patio below.
My Soul twisted as I stalked towards the Tesseract. Selvig was unconscious by the edge of the roof, though I didn't know how. Thor and Tony were sweeping through the streets, taking care of any straggling Chitauri as Barton and Rogers were arguing with the local police about what to do with the numerous Chitauri corpses. However, it was Hulk's situation that I was called to.
Seeing that they were stranded and out gunned, the majority of the remaining Chitauri had encircled Hulk, pinning him literally between a rock (cement) and a hard place.
This seriously had to end.
I closed my eyes and raised both of my hinds, one pointing towards the Tesseract, and the other NY.
With a burst of power my mind swept along with city, and with a smirk I crushed the flickering blue lights that were the lives of the Chitauri. Making sure that none were left alive in the city, my mind returned to the Tower, but not to my body.
Focusing all of my powers on the Tesseract, my mind pierced the shield, and I literally smothered the Tesseract into submission, winning the ancient device from my Sister's clutches, before cutting the connection.
My eyes snapped open as the rift in the sky literally imploded and closed with a blast of light.
"Bloody hell." Tony's voice echoed through the com as I turned my attention back to the device in my ear.
I chuckled and reigned in my power once again.
"I've rubbed off on you." I told him, aware that the others could hear me as well.
"Did you really think that it would be that easy?"
"AHH!" I screamed as my Soul twisted as Fati's energy descended upon me faster than lightning. My Duties called out to me, and I fell to my knees, clutching my head as Fati's power literally tore the city from my grasp.
"I'm getting tired of your meddling!" Fati's voice echoed through my mind as I felt her power ensnare the Tesseract again, causing the portal to reopen.
"This is MY Realm!" I exclaimed as I struggled to my feet, wincing as I felt Fati's web entangle the situation, again.
"Is it?" Fati drawled and a wave of her power caused me to slam into the roof. "Because I haven't been able to tell!"
"Yes," I growled reaching for my own power as my eyes flashed in rage. "This is MY Realm, and you may not interfere!"
With a blast of magic I broke free of Fati's grasp, and turned towards the Tesseract as more Chitauri started pouring out of the rift once again.
"What's going on!?"
"E're?!"
"Why's the Tesseract working again!?"
With a sigh, I turned down the volume on my com. They would have to deal with the Chitauri for a few more minutes. I had a Sister to deal with.
Cor
Infinitas sighed as her all-knowing gaze showed her the beginning of her Sisters' battle. She couldn't interfere directly as it was neither her place nor her time.
She knew what was to happen, and knew that the future ahead must take place, no matter how difficult it was. She had not told anyone, but her Sight was fading. There was a Darkness upon the horizon that was starting to block her Sight.
This was worry some, because her powers stretched far beyond the Realm of Time. Time had only existed as long as there were people to keep track of it. Before there were beings to keep track of it, her Realm had been something different.
Much like Insania used to be Chaos, Infinitas once was someone else. Back when her Realm was Existence, she didn't have a name other than Daughter.
That was a time when Mother and Father had active roles in everything they created. It was before the Realms of Life and Death existed, before a Realm of Time was needed.
But, as the worlds and universes grew, fell, and changed, their family grew and changed.
Her Realm changed, like she knew it would, and soon it was Time that she was said to control, and Infinitas became her name.
However, even though more Realms were created, and more Siblings, her true Realm never truly changed.
It was called something else, but yet…it was still the same at the Core, and it would always be the same.
Her Realm was something that the English language cannot explain, something that is beyond Mortal's comprehension.
"My Realm is neither Time nor Existence, though it has been called both." Infinitas said though she seemed to be speaking to no one. "It has been the story of Existence, the tale that Father started, and the Tale, that I can no longer see the end."
Infinitas shook her head, she has always known what was, is, and will be. Just because something is now dark doesn't mean that it always was.
"Yin!" Infinitas called out and a small black haired child appeared at her side. "Release the two, would you? They're places are once again in the weave."
The black eyed boy nodded, his midnight locks shaking. He darted off, and Infinitas smiled as more things fell into place.
"Now," She said to herself as she saw a flash of fire out of the corner of her eye, "for the next piece."
She wrapped her cloak around her and vanished. Just because she couldn't interfere in her Sisters' battle, didn't mean she couldn't do anything.
Hiya! Hope you liked it, the whole thing with Infinitas is new, but I really like it. I tried to explain it the best I could, but…no idea how well it came out!
(If you're an original reader, things are changing, aren't they? ^.^)
Soooo, yeah, I'll try to update soon!
Thanks to everyone
