Awakening

Infinitas fades into view and glances down at a sleepy Cp before turning towards the readers.

"She owns nothing, and she apologizes for the delay." Infinitas' eyes seem to sparkle, she smirks, and vanishes.

E're's POV

This was bad, very, very bad.

The Tesseract was once again operational, and now Fati had personally joined the battle field.

Or, almost personally.

I ducked and shielded against a blast of purple energy that came from the opposite side of the roof. Calming myself, I turned to see Loki with bright purple eyes standing there. His face was contorted into an evil smirk that didn't belong on the Asgardian's face.

I narrowed my eyes as my Soul twisted in pain and protest. I could see Fati's Soul now, as the majority of it was crammed into Loki's body. No human or Asgardain body was meant to play host to an Immortal, and I could tell that her Soul was slowly crushing Loki's Soul, and destroying his body.

"Leave now Fati." I growled as I sent a small part of my mind out past the city. "Before you make me do something I won't regret."

Loki-turned-Fati just laughed as her purple aura manifested around her. "Oh, are you trying to threaten me? How cute. You should be the one fearing for their Existence right now!"

It was with that simple declaration that everything broke loose.

Waving my hand, Selvig vanished from the rooftop just as I leapt backwards and sent a large blast of power towards Fati, lighting up the sky.

Fati countered the attack with another purple blast and the energy exploded out into the sky.

A battle between two Immortals was forbidden in a Mortal realm simply because of how destructive they could be.

We had the power to change reality…

I narrowed my eyes and my silvery-blue aura manifested around me as Fati and I stared off, both waiting for the other's move.

…let's just say that this wasn't likely to end well.

Tony's POV

This was bad, very very bad!

We had thought that it was over, Pen had managed to close the Tesseract and all of the Chitauri had been killed. Mortem's monsters had even vanished back into the shadows that they had emerged from.

But then….

Something had changed, no, someone else had joined the fight. It was Loki's puppermaster, it was the only thing that made sense, and now…now Pen was caught in a massive power battle.

"Guy's I'm out of arrows again!" Barton exclaimed and I looped back around and lifted him to safety.

"We can't keep this up! There's too many of them!" Rogers exclaimed through the com for the billionth time in the last five minutes. "What caused the Tesseract to reopen!?"

"I don't know," Romanoff exclaimed with a grunt and I glanced down at the HUD to see that she had just severed a Chitauri's spinal cord…or where one would be. Either way, it dropped dead.

"But I knew that we shouldn't have trusted them!" She continued a moment later and I growled as my eyes flickered across the readings in front of me. My power wasn't too low, but I was almost out of missiles and my lasers were only doing so much.

"This isn't the time Romanoff!" I exclaimed as the sky lit up, I looked on, wide eyed, as the heavens seemed to split into two colors, purple and blue, both originating from the Tower.

Things were getting too serious, too out of hand.

"What on earth is going on up there?!" Barton asked as he managed to shoot another Chitauri with a gun that he had somehow gotten his hands on.

I had given up trying to contact Penny. I knew that she was alive, and I knew that her com was still operational, she just wasn't responding.

Which basically led me to believe one thing.

"The puppetmaster has come to play." I muttered, knowing that everyone else could hear me. My mind spun with possibilities and I scowled at the numbers that were given to me.

Things really weren't looking good.

"Time to shake things up," I decided as I fired another missile at a Chituairi. They seemed to be inspired by the lightshow going on in the sky, and were much deadlier than they had been moments ago.

"Jarvis, deploy Mark III, IV and V, we need more air support." I ordered, knowing that Jarvis could operate all three suits at once, even if he didn't want to.

"Sir, those suits are significantly less powerful and the odds that they will be of any assistance…." Jarvis tried to argue but I cut off the AI sharply.

"Now's not the time, any help we can get right now is needed! Get them in the air, and have Mark V distribute the shield generators that Pen and I were working on. We need to keep these guys in the city!" I ordered as I used my lasers to cut through more Chitauri before turning and flying off, about thirty of the beasts on my tail.

I narrowed my eyes and tried my best to cause them to crash into stuff; they really weren't very good with aerial maneuvers.

Suddenly, a large bolt of lightning, followed by Thor, dropped out of the sky and took out half of the swarm following me. I smirked and flew beneath a billboard before cutting it down, causing it to fall into the following Chitauri.

"Thanks Thor!"

"Stay vigilant Man of Iron!" The Asgardian replied loudly, before jumping right into the mists of the Chitauri, swinging his hammer with a vengeance.

"Captain, how are you guy's holding up?" I asked as I flew overhead, blasting a few of them away. Romanoff, Rogers and Barton had regrouped and were using their combined skills to take down as many of the aliens as they could.

Thankfully, by now most of the civilians were cleared of the warzone, so they didn't have to worry so much about casualties.

"Alright for the moment." Rogers gasped, and I could tell by the way he was favoring his left side (surprisingly, the security cameras were still working) that he was hurt. "But I don't know how much longer we can keep this up!"

"I have some backup on the way," I stated watching the suits' progress on the HUD.

"Never thought I'd say this," Barton grunted as Hulk's enraged howl echoed in the background, "But I sure wish those shadow things would come back!"

I didn't respond, but I agreed. Everything had been going so well, we thought that it was over.

I hated being wrong.

I flipped past more Chitauri as the sky seemed to turn dark purple and a large explosion shook the city. I glanced at the Tower to see the top two floors completely demolished. I winced slightly, hoping that Pen was ok.

We were going need to remodel again.

Third POV

While things were getting extremely out of control in New York, things weren't going any better on the Helicarrier.

Fury had been arguing with the Council for the past hour, trying to assure them that the situation was under control. He had been beyond pleased when the Tesseract shut down, proving to the men and women that the Avengers had been the best bet.

Then, his victory came crashing down as the live footage the Council and Director were watching showed the Tesseract reopening and a strange lightshow appearing in the sky.

"This is the final straw!" One of the members exclaimed ignoring Fury as he tried to get them to back down. "We have come to a decision Fury, fire that missile!"

Fury glared at the council, looking like he would love nothing more than to strangle them all. "No, I am not condoning a nuclear attack on New York! Millions of people will be killed, not to mention the fallout that'll follow!"

"You have your orders Director!" The Chairman of the Counsel yelled, a nasty bastard that Fury called 'Jones', the screens going black.

Wishing that his old mentor was here to deal with this mess instead of him, Fury strode back onto the Bridge, Coulson appearing by his side.

It was no sooner than they entered the Bridge, that alarms started blaring and Hill cried out in alarm.

"Sir, there's a rogue boogie taking off!"

Fury paled, and instantly dashed from the room. "STOP THAT JET, IT'S NOT ALLOWED TO LEAVE!"

Everyone scrambled about, trying to stop the jet that the Counsel now controlled.

Coulson stood silent amongst the chaos, his face like stone as he watched the jet soar away through the large glass wall.

Without breaking his silence, he turned away and snuck into an empty room.

He had a call to make.

Tony's POV

Thankfully, the suits hadn't taken too long to get here, though Hulk was the first one to notice them.

"Man of Iron?" The Other Guy asked (he had adopted Thor's name for me) as Mrk. IV barreled into a group of Chitauri that had surrounded him.

"Sorry big guy!" I exclaimed as I shot passed them, nodding to Jarvis as I blasted another Chitauri. "Not me!"

"Stark!?" Barton exclaimed as he caught sight of the Mrk. III suit charging down the street. "How are more of your suits here?!"

I chuckled and replied with a drawl, "Jarvis decided to lend a hand. You should thank him."

"I'm only following orders sir." Jarvis replied instantly, letting the others hear him.

"Whatever you say." I stated, knowing that my AI was glad to be part of the action. Jar was part of the family, though he was the youngest in that family. He was my rival in the overprotective area.

"You couldn't have called them in earlier!?" Romanoff grunted as she wrapped herself around another Chitauri.

"Didn't think it was needed earlier." I stated coolly, before directing the Mrk. V over to Barton.

"Hey, birdbrain, your ride's here." I commented as the suit literally dropped down on top of the Chitauri that Barton had been fighting.

"What?!" The archer exclaimed as the suit turned to face him.

"Sir, I will need your assistance in constructing the barrier around the city." Jarvis stated through the suit's speakers and I chuckled at the look on Barton's face. (Jarvis was allowing me to see through his eyes so to speak, in the bottom corner of my screen.)

"Stark! What are you playing at!?" Rogers asked glancing at the large black cubes strapped to the back of the suit.

"We need to keep them in the city, we're overrun. Barton, just go with Jarvis and get the shield up!"

Barton's eyes lit up with understanding and nodded to Jarvis, who gripped Barton tightly before taking back off into the air.

Thunder rocked the skies and the wind suddenly started to howl.

"Thor, buddy, think you could power it down!? We don't need a hurricane on top of this!" I exclaimed as I had to maneuver though the gusts of wind.

"It is not I, Man of Iron!" Thor stated in worry from where he flew in front of the portal, controlling a mass amount of lightning in an attempt to slow the flow of Chitauri into the battle below.

"Then who…"

"I believe that now would be a good time for reinforcements, don't you agree?"

I spun around in shock as a cool chuckle echoed through my mind. I suddenly noticed something that I hadn't before, the other bright red dot on my screen. The arrival of a new jet.

I noticed the design instantly, and my eyes narrowed as I noticed that it was being ruthlessly attacked by the Chitauri, who didn't like the new arrivals.

The wind around the jet was insane, and even I had trouble maneuvering through it, but I managed to fight my way through, and blast the Chitauri off that had been trying to crash the plane.

I saluted to the white haired woman flying the plane, before pointing to an empty roof that would be a good place to land.

She nodded, and only moments later (after blasting more Chitauri of course) I flew down to meet them.

There quite a few, but I only reconized seven of them. I blinked, and rechecked.

"Got an invite to the party, did you?!" I called down quite happy to have their help.

"Not our typical area, but a friend called us in." The same voice that had spoken in my mind said. I nodded, before glancing down at the battle.

"Shield's will be up shortly, and most of the civilians are already evacuated!" I stated as most of the people looked around in awe.

"Thank you." The man known as Charles Xavier stated before waving forward his students and friends.

"Help in any way you can!" He told them, and instantly they dashed off.

Our battle force of six had just gone up to sixteen. Thing were looking up.

I took off as the whole city shook again, I had to wonder, had Penny called the X-men?

Hello, not the best chapter, I admit, but eh, it's hot and at least I wrote something!

Hope you enjoyed it, and yup, the Xmen are helping! Oh, and at this point I don't really have this taking place in any specific time during the Xmen movie plot line…but nightcrawler is an Xman and some of the kids are in training…eh, just pretend it works.

(I am no expert on Xmen)

More Fati-E're action next chapter!

Thanks for reading! Reviews are adored!
