Eve woke up with the world's biggest migraine. Her mouth was dry and her eyes burned. She blinked several times to clear her blurry vision. She felt something wet on her forehead.
"Oh my, you're awake."
Eve said nothing and slowly felt the wet cloth on her forehead. The stranger did not stop her.
"Where..." She croaked.
"You're in Sander. Boy, you did not react well to the teleportation ticket."
"Tele—"
"Here, drink this." The stranger made her sit up and fed her small sips of water.
Eve suddenly realized that someone had changed her clothes. She was now wearing an over-sized white linen shirt with nothing else underneath it. She fought the heat that was rising to her cheeks.
"I'm Anudran. The Wind Priestess." Anudran smiled. She was really pretty. Rosy cheeks, kind eyes, small frame.
"Hello." Eve muttered, trying to get taste back in her mouth.
"Say, aren't you that tyrant queen from Velder?"
She paused. Should she tell Anudran the truth?
"I am no tyrant," said Eve, puffing out her chest in a vain attempt to look dignified. "But I am the queen of Velder."
Anudran looked unconvinced. Eve inwardly sighed, she was too tired for this ruse right now.
"Queens don't drool in their sleep, do they?"
Eve's hand flew to the side of her mouth. Anudran began laughing.
"I'm kidding! Your expression was priceless—stay here, I have to get Chung."
Chung? Oh right, she thought, he was the one who brought them here.
Anudran left the tent and Eve immediately began formulating escape plans. They all ended with her having to face off against Chung. Fluone to Lurensia is too long of a trip on foot anyway. There was no way she was going to make it without dying of dehydration first.
"Were you thinking of ways to escape?" Chung's cool voice interrupted her thoughts.
"No." Eve lied. "I was just thinking of how itchy this blanket is."
Without thinking, she threw off the blanket only to reveal her bare legs. Her cheeks burned but she kept her head up and crossed her arms.
"Hm, well get up. I need to show you something."
"Absolutely not." Eve retorted.
Chung raised an eyebrow.
"Men..." Eve rolled her eyes.
When he didn't respond, she let out a sigh of frustration.
"Go get Anudran."
"You just got here, and you're already ordering people around?"
"No, just you." She replied sweetly.
After she was properly dressed in clothes, Eve finally stepped out from the tent. She wore simple white shirt with a long skirt that brushed the ground every time she walked. Her hair was pulled back into a thick braid.
The wind was merciless. She rubbed her eyes, trying to get the sand out.
"Are you ready now, Your Highness?" Chung asked, watching with an amused expression when she squinted at him. He seemed unaffected by the wind and there was no sand in his eyes.
"Your Majesty, I am a queen. Not a princess." She snapped.
Chung said nothing and began walking. She reluctantly followed.
"Where are we? Why are we here? How did we get here? What is going on?" She asked, trying to keep up with his strides.
"This is Caluso Tribal Village. Raven ordered me too. He wanted to make sure you would never see Rena or your kingdom again."
"If Raven thinks he can keep me trapped here, he's a fool. Not even you can hold me off forever." Eve's tone was as cold as ice.
"You fainted from a teleportation spell." Chung said flatly.
"Th-That was because I'm not used to them!" She sputtered, her icy tone completely gone.
"Well, good luck with escaping." Chung rolled his eyes, and stopped walking causing Eve to ram into him.
"Ow..." She rubbed her nose.
"Hello, Vapor." He said, ignoring her once again.
A girl who looked no older than thirteen looked up, her enormous glasses falling from her face. "Hello, Lacher."
Eve blinked. "Lacher?"
"Don't call me that. I'm Chung now." His face hardened.
What a weird name, Eve thought to herself.
"Do not rage at me, White Wolf!" Vapor suddenly exclaimed, her tone sounding dangerously close to a whine.
Eve recoiled at the sudden change of character. Vapor's monotonous expression returned when her eyes drifted to Eve.
"Have we met before?" Vapor tilted her head.
"Er, no?" Eve glanced at Chung for assistance.
"Yes, we have! I remember!" She shrieked, grabbing Eve by the shoulders.
The Nasod let out a surprised gasp. Vapor's nails were digging into her skin. Chung swiftly grabbed Eve and moved her aside.
"Vapor." He warned.
The girl blinked several times. "Yes?"
"Nothing." He mumbled and began steering Eve away from her.
"What the hell was that?" Eve demanded when they were out of an earshot.
"Vapor is rather...special," said Chung.
"Yeah, I got that part." She rolled her eyes.
He shot her an annoyed look. "She's immortal."
"And that is a sufficient reason to be insane?" Eve snapped, just as annoyed as he was.
"She has lived for a long time, seen many things. She probably thought you looked like someone she used to know."
Eve looked doubtful. "Whatever you say, Lacher."
"Don't call me that." He said, sighing.
"Vapor called you that."
"And I told her to stop."
"Why? I kind of like it." Eve tapped her chin thoughtfully.
Chung raised an eyebrow.
"Still doesn't change the fact that you're a cold-hearted, mean, rude asshole!" She quickly added.
He chuckled. "I see."
Lu sat cross-legged, chewing on a piece of hair. She and her butler, Ciel, were playing chess and she was seriously stumped.
"Check." Ciel said as he moved his piece dangerously close to her King.
"Ugh! I am so done with this stupid game!" She picked up the chess board and threw it. This was the third time she did it today.
Ciel sighed. He went to retrieve the board and collect the scattered chess pieces.
"The game wasn't even over yet, Mistress Lu."
"You were going to win anyway. What's the point?" Lu pouted.
Ciel cracked a small smile and patted her head.
"Good to see you two nice and cozy."
Ciel and Lu turned around to see Rena of the Night Savers.
"Hi, Rena!" Lu chirped, running over to hug the elf.
"Hello, Lu." Rena gave her a tired smile. She didn't look so well. The bags under her eyes were prominent and her skin was a sickly pale color.
"What's wrong?" Lu asked, frowning.
"I have a favor to ask of you and Ciel."
