Hey guys. Here's another chapter. The drama will soon pick up. I know I keep saying this, but it truly is beginning. I should have another chapter up by next Wednesday and hopefully another one by next Friday. So I am already ahead of my "back on track" schedule. So hopefully I can keep the pace up. Anyways. As always, Read and Review. I'll see you guys soon.

Clare's POV

"I hate Mondays." Katie said, walking through my dorm door. She plopped down on my bed, and exhaled. I turned in my desk chair and glanced over at her. "What are you doing tonight? I need to forget about today's exam I definitely failed."

"Did you get another C again?" I asked teasingly.

"A C is a death wish. You get a C and that drops your grade. If my grade goes belo am screwed. I can kiss the fun Holidays goodbye. My parents would kill me." She sighed. "Do you have your internship tonight?"

"No. My boss, Jesse canceled my shift tonight, because he was going to be sending all of his reporters on an assignment together and there wouldn't be anything for me to do. So, I am meeting up with my friend Adam. If you want, you could come?" I offered.

"He isn't the cutie that is living with your ex, is he? The pictures you have shown me of them?" She perked up looking at me.

"It is." I smiled. Katie admitted to me before that she thought he was cute. I didn't tell her about Adam's secret. It's not mine to tell, but Katie is definitely an open-minded person, so I'm not against her going after Adam.

"Great. Now I have to change. I'll be back." She got up and headed to the door. She turned and looked at me. "Don't leave without me."

"I won't." I reassured her.

"Good." She smiled. I chuckled, before she shut the door behind her. I went back to my homework, knowing I had a little time before I had to leave to meet Adam.

A half an hour later, Katie and I were entering the lobby of Adam's apartment. I was hesitant at first about going back after last time, but Adam told me that Eli knew I was coming over, and decided he was going to be out while I was there. I wanted to know if I would ever hear from him again, it has been nearly two weeks since he confronted me.

Katie and I stood in the hallway, as I knocked on Adam's door. After a few moments, he opened it, and smiled. He held the door open for both of us, as we entered. The apartment looked the same as before.

"Hey." Adam greeted.

"Hi." I replied. "This is Katie. She's my friend from my dorm."

"Nice to meet you, Katie." Adam said.

"Hi." She said.

"Do you guys want something to drink?" He asked.

"Sure." I smiled. "Thanks."

After Adam got back with our drinks, we all sat around talking. Adam told us more about his school and we told him about ours. Eli didn't come busting down the door, and thankfully neither did Imogen. We hung out for about an hour and a half before my phone started ringing.

"Guys. I'll be right back, this is my work." I said standing up. I headed into the kitchen area off of the living room, so I didn't bother them with my conversation.

"Clare?" Jesse spoke.

"Yes?" I asked.

"Can you get into the office today?" He asked. "We have a new story to get out by tomorrow and all of my regulars are still on an assignment."

"Yeah. I'll be right down." I agreed.

I hung up the phone, and walked back into the living room.

"Hey. Everything okay?" Adam asked.

"Yeah. I just have to go into the office. Jesse needs me to work." I explained.

"Well that sucks." Adam sighed.

"I know." I sighed, before turning to Katie. "Did you want me to show you how to get home?"

"No. It's okay. I think I remember it. I'll leave in a few minutes. You have to go the opposite direction anyways." Katie stated.

"Okay. I'll see you back on campus then?" I asked.

"Yeah. Don't forget Zig's performance this Friday. You've missed the passed couple, and everyone is asking about you." Katie reminded me.

"Yeah. Hopefully I'll be able to make it. Not sure if Zig wants me there though." I said sliding my coat on.

"He definitely does. You guys have kept apart the past week or so but it's not even that big of a deal. It's not like you guys were truly dating. It was just a fling. He'll get over it, if he hasn't already, and he'll want you to support him." Katie continued. "So make sure you can be there. Are you going to the practice tomorrow?"

"Yeah. I'll be there, I suppose. I already got the night off from my internship, so I could work on a project. But since I had tonight off, I got most of it done already." I explained.

"Good. I'll tell everyone to expect you. You have nothing to worry about." Katie reassured.

"Okay. Okay." I said grabbing my purse. "I'll see you guys later. Adam, I'll call you to hang out again soon?"

"Sure. Go on. Work calls." Adam smiled, gesturing to the door.

"Bye guys." I waved, before walking out of the apartment.

The entire trip took longer the more I looked at my watch. When I finally arrived at the office, not many people were there. It was Jesse and a few interns like me, but most were not in the main room, they were in the side offices along the hallway by the elevator. I walked over to Jesse's office and knocked on the door. Even though it was glass, I didn't want to just walk in.

"Hey, Newsie. Good. You're here. I need fresh eyes. Can you read through this article and let me know what you think?" He asked.

"Yeah. Sure. No problem." I agreed, as he handed me the article and necessary notes.

"Tonight's going to be a long night, Newsie. Thanks for coming in." He stated, glancing up from his work on his desk again.

I nodded, without actually responding, and hurried to my desk. I hoped that it wouldn't be that long of night. I had classes early in the morning, and I wasn't looking forward to the lack of sleep if that happened. I spent the next two hours working on the article, reading and rereading. Then Jesse needed me to go through and edit the grammar and spelling. That took me another hour and a half, making it nearly eleven when I finally finished.

"I'm finished." I said, walking into his office. He stuck his hand out and took the file without even looking at me. He stopped what he was doing and skimmed what I had accomplished.

"Great. Thanks, Newsie. This really helps." He smiled at me. "So I'll see you tomorrow?"

"I thought I was able to get the night off tomorrow. I need it to finish an assignment?" I asked confused.

"I wasn't informed of this." Jesse stated. "You had most of tonight to finish it, why didn't you?"

"I had another engagement." I explained.

"That isn't my problem." He paused and pinched the bridge of his nose. "Fine. I'll see you Wednesday then. I'll have you work until eleven to make up the hours, and then some for taking time off in the first place." He stated.

I nodded before scurrying out of the office. I walked quickly over to my desk and grabbed my things before heading out. The last thing I wanted was to get on Jesse's bad side but apparently that was what was going to happen if I stayed. When I finally made it out of the building, I shook myself off wanting to forget about his frustration. I made it back to my dorm a little after midnight, and decided I was going to go to bed. I had to be up for a nine o' clock class.
