Mrs Bennet dies while pregnant with Lydia. Mr Bennet remarries a respectable, but poor widow that he had hired as governess to his four daughters. Jane and Mary are married, as their stepmother doesn't scare away suitors. It is with these circumstances that the Bennets meet the Netherfield party. TW: Miscarriage and death in first chapter. Lizzy did not think it was very fair to bring two innocent people into the fray by forcing them to endure a Bennet family dinner. Mr Bennet married the daughter of an Earl with whom he had 3 children – twins James and Elizabeth, as well as Mary. His wife and her only brother die. Soon after, Bennet's older brother marries Fanny Gardiner just before his death. When Fanny delivers twin girls, Kitty and Lydia, Bennet inherits Longbourn. To keep James safe from Collins, Bennet's son is raised by his grandparents.

After his return from his confrontation with Elizabeth at Hunsford, Darcy confesses to Bingley. It all spirals out of control from there. Another OOC* squared story. (*Out of Character or Out of Canon, your choice)
