Mansion 2: chapter 22
Sonic's POV
I limped through the storage. There was some actual light in here. Much lighter then in the upper storage that i had been in only two hours ago. I tried to make my way around this place as quiet as i could. I didn't want to get any attention from something dangerous. Something that lurked around here. I didn't know what to call it. All i knew is that running into it now would be the worst mistake ever.
I limped to a door with the help of the broom stick i found earlier and opened the wooden door. I peeked my head through the opening and looked around the new room that i had come across. There was a staircase that went to a lower ground. I reminded myself of that mansion i had been in. It had a staircase like this one aswell. There were diffirent levels in the underground part. Maybe those were here aswell. I sighed. This could mean that we were going to be down here for quite a while again. And this broken right leg of mine was going to make things harder on me.
I closed the door as i went back into the storage again. I couldn't go down there yet. Shadow was still on the same level as me, so i had to find a way to the other side of this huge heap of rumble instead of going down to a lower level. My ears twitched in to diffirent directions as i tried to hear for any movement. None so far. Good. That meant that it was safe for now. So i limped on.
I limped into diffirent directions, but none seem to lead me to Shadow. He must be quite a while away from me now. Maybe it was better if i had just taken that stairs that led to the lower level. I could search for a stais that would lead back up on the other side of this area. I turned and decided to limp all the way back to where i had found that stair case.
I had been limping for a while now. My leg was killing me. Why were these stairs so far away? I should've been at them by now. Was i lost? I hoped not. That would add another level of difficulty to this already difficult situation. I sauntered forward. I didn't recognize the halls that i walked through. I was deffinetly walking in a diffirent area then i was in before. I must've taken a wrong turn. I wasn't walking back at all. I sighed and leant agains the wall for support. Walking back now would be a bad idea. I didn't know where i had gone wrong while tracking my way back. So there was a chance that i might walk in the wrong way once more.
I winced as i felt a painfull sting in my wounded leg. I should be at home, allowing my leg to rest. Yet i'm here risking my life to save my mate. How was he doing anyway? Before all of this happened he was on his way to recovery. He couldn't walk properly on his own, but it seemed like he had less trouble getting around with those blades in his arms. I felt dissapointment make it's way into my chest. It saddened me that Shadow had an easier time when his body was mutilated like this. His body had gotten used to life without his blades, but he had gotten used to living with them faster then he had gotten used to living without them. I guess that wasn't so surprising since he had been living with those things for 13 years.
I pushed myself up and away from the wall. I had to keep going. Staying here and contemplate our situation wasn't going to help anyone. I looked into the direction from which i came and took a few steps, but a scream stopped me. My ears twitched and i stopped in my tracks. I recognized the voice. To my relief it didn't sound like Shadow's voice at all. It was to high-pitched for him. But the voice still send chills through my spine as i knew who it belonged to. My body turned into the direction of the noise. "Emily." I muttered beneath my breath and limped into the direction of the source as fast as i could.
