Awakening
The wonders of a new school computer that actually works, I can write at school again! (Ok, this is the only third day of school in the new year but still!) I'm writing more, and that's what counts, right?
Sooo….hope everyone enjoys the chapter!
Finding Bruce had been extremely simple, I hadn't even had to ask Jarvis or sense for his Soul. I had just appeared at the door of his lab and knocked on the glass. Bruce of course hadn't been expecting that, and had jumped just a tiny bit. I knew that Hulk had sensed me as soon as I had showed up, but it seemed he liked startling Brucie just as much as I did.
"Penny!" He exclaimed happily as he caught sight of me, his shoulders relaxing almost instantly and a grin appearing on his face.
I gave him a small wave and a smile as he swept across the room and pulled me into a hug.
Laughing, I pat the older (appearing) man on his back and said, "It's good to see you too Bruce, you'd think I hadn't seen you in months."
I gave him a cheeky grin as he took a step back and inspected me with a keen, glinting eye.
"You alright? You had a lot of us worried there." He told me sternly and I smiled sheepishly as I shrugged and rubbed the back of my head.
"I was just being stupid, it happens from time to time, I'm sorry. I really didn't mean to worry anyone." I told the scientist who gave me another stern look.
"Well, I don't care if it happens often or not. You need to stop being reckless." Bruce scolded me, and my stomach squirmed in guilt. Hey, it wasn't like I did it on purpose!
I could sense Mortem's agreement with Bruce through the Bond and had to stop myself from rolling my eyes. Did he have nothing better to do than keep a constant watch on what was going on around me?
"Snooping much?" I drawled teasingly to my Bonded and I could sense him amusement. Yeah, I knew I was reckless but I always had been and if all of my millennia alive didn't beat it out of me then I doubted that Bruce would.
"I wouldn't have to if you would listen to the human and actually think before you act." Mortem stated and I winced at the worry accompanying his words. Ok, I hated it when I worried people, but I doubted that it would change anytime soon.
"Um, sorry?" I asked with a mental shrug and Mortem responded with a feeling of exasperation.
"It's alright, love; I know you don't do it on purpose." He replied before retreating back to his side of the Bond.
Sighing at both Bruce and Mortem I gave Bruce a tired smile and said, "I'll try Bruce, but no promises."
"I guess that's the best I can ask for." Bruce stated before walking back over to his desk. "Is there a reason you came down here? You know, besides the fact you were trying to give me a headache?"
"I doubt Hulk'll let you have a heart attack Brucie dear," I teased the man, though I did see Hulk's aura pulsating a bit, showing his agreement. But I didn't speak on it, there really wans't a reason to.
Bruce's reaction was just a raised eyebrow and pointed look, this time I did roll my eyes before continuing.
"I'm getting Dad out of the Tower for a while, I don't know how long he's been in my room but some fresh air and a change in scenery would do both of us some good."
"Sir spent the last 14 hours before you awoke by your bedside, Miss Penny." Jarvis reported and I couldn't help but smile a the disapproving tone in his voice. "Miss Potts dragged your father out of your room at seven o'clock last night for dinner, and he was forced to wait until she was asleep to return."
I blinked in slight surprise. Pepper had actually managed to drag Dad out of my room? Impressive.
Bruce nodded, the info Jarvis giving matching up with what he knew. Glancing back at me I recognized a slightly relieved look hidden on his face.
"Good, I was going to call Pepper or Phil to drag him out of there if you didn't wake up by the time Rogers and the Agents returned from the Helicarrier." He stated in relief and I nodded, at least not everyone had forgotten about my father.
Not to mention that I was impressed that Bruce had caught on to Dad's eccentric and unhealthy habits so quickly. Though, to be honest, he probably put the clues together from my stories and knowing me.
Eh, I was still proud of him for it.
"Thanks," I told the man who gave me a small smile in return.
"Anyway," I continued with a clap. "If you'd let the rest of your little hero band know I'll text Pepper. We should be back tonight...but eh, we're random."
Chuckling at Bruce's eyeroll that accompanied his wave, I turned on my heel and skipped out of the room.
"Try not to be too random now, Pen!" Bruce called out just as I passed the threshold and my energy surged around me.
"Whatever you say!" I laughed as I vanished, oh the simple things in life.
I sparked back into existence right next to my father, who was riding down to the underground garage in a smaller elevator.
"Where'd you vanish to?" Dad asked me with a raised eyebrow, and I was glad to see that he had showed as well as changed, and the hologram hid the circles under his eyes.
Though I'd admit, my dad looked weird with blonde hair and green eyes without facial hair. At least I didn't need to change my appearance; I wasn't the one who was famous.
"Just told Bruce we were going out." I answered lightly, trying to get used to Dad's disguise. Sure, he's used it before but...it was still odd for him not to look like himself; and yes I did realizing that coming from me it seemed hypocritical.
As if sensing my thoughts, which I knew my father couldn't do, Dad's lips stretched into a teasing smile, his eyes glittering lightly.
"What? Don't think I can pull off blonde?" He teased me and I rolled my eyes and punched his arm lightly.
"Why do we have to have this conversation every time you put on that disguise?" I replied back swiftly, a playful glint in my eye and a smile on my lips.
Dad threw his arm around my shoulders and pulled me to his side. "Don't worry, I know what you're thinking."
I raised an eyebrow at him in question as I peaked up at him from my position at his chest and looked at him curiously. What did he think I was thinking?
"I'm too smart to be a blonde." He quipped and I groaned.
Shaking my head in disbelief I smacked my forehead. Of course Dad would say something so...redundant and pathetic.
"That was lame, Dad." I informed my father as I wiggled out of his grip just as the elevator door opened, so I darted past him as well.
"You're just upset that you didn't think of it first." He replied and I spun on my heel to look at him in disbelief, my eyebrow raised.
"Seriously?" I asked, "Didn't you just say that that was what I was thinking?"
Dad opened his mouth to protest before freezing, realizing that I was actually right. (He really shouldn't look as surprised as he did.)
Smirking I spun back around on my heel and stalked to one of our more...inconspicuous cars.
"Fine," Dad pouted as he too walked over. "You win, now wipe that smug look off of your face."
Turning around to him again I said innocently, "What look? This is my face."
Dodging a swipe from my father I teleported into the car.
Oh, annoying Tony was just too much fun.
Ok, now this chapter is short. But I'm updating so you all should be happy! Once again I'm sorry if the formatting is odd, I'm updating from my phone. (The wonders of FF being blocked on my school computer. -.-)
I'm not sure if I'm going to update again this evening, since my brain hurts a bit from all of the Quantum Physics theories we've been messing with at school today. (and if anyone hasn't figured it out yet, I'm rather lazy when I don't have deadlines.)
Hope you enjoyed the chapter,
Cp
