Chapter 31
The New Years Visit
January 3, 1999
"Grgr!" Cerise annouced. She was being carried by her grandmother.
"Mom!" I yelled.
"It was time." She told me.
"What's going on? Oh." Red was wrapped in a towel. She smelled warm and like shampoo.
"I just decided to drop by." Mama was unfazed by Red in a towel.
"Dada. Mama." Ceris' reminded us she was here.
"Hi, Sweetheart." I took her as Red went to go change.
Mama went to get out some toys so she could play with Cerise. I cleaned up what I could. She came back with our daughter crawling behind her. Sometimes she tried to walk, but if I wasn't looking or Mommy wasn't there, she'd stop, fall onto her bottom, and starting crying.
Mama and Cerise had a tea party. Cerise drank from her bottle. Dollie and Wolfie had their faces in their cups because that's how she feeds her toys. Then she wanted us to come play with her. Red and I joined them, sipping from tiny cups, until she wanted to build a tower.
I got out her blocks out and we made towers until she got tried and Red took her to bed. I helped Mama up from the floor.
"She's a nice girl." Mama sat in a chair.
"Cerise?" I asked.
"Yes." She nodded.
We talked and ate real food until naptime was over. Then we had to reassure her nobody left. Mama stayed a bit longer then had to go to her doctor's appointment.
