Surprises
Valentine's Day 1999
"Dada." Ceris' cooed. She had a card in her chubby hand.
"What's that?" I took the card and picked her up. She gurled and nuzzled my shoulder.
I took her to the couch and set her down. She put her head on my thigh and rested. I opened the card, "Happy Valentine's Day, Baddy. I have a surprise for you in the kitchen. And later on too. ;) I love you. Red"
I smiled. I had gotten her flowers, a new waterproof watch (babies are very messy) and nice chocolates. She was happy. I would get my present later. Cerise was napping. Red saw me on the couch with our daughter and smiled. She carefully picked her up and took her to her crib. She knew how not to wake her. I waited for Red to come back before I went to the kitchen. I was given a wrapped package from the fridge. I opened it. It was nice big slab of steak.
"Oh, Red." I smiled.
"Go ahead and eat. I'll still be here." She purred and left.
