"Let's do this!" he said.
Reikokuna smiled widely.
"As you wish!" he said as then charged at him as well.
But before the two could clash there swords, Someome intervened.
"Enough!".
Koukennin then struck down Ross and Reikokuna's weapons with his saber. The two boys looked at the man in utter shock.
"F-father..." Ross said with shock and happiness in his voice.
Reikokuna gritted his teeth.
"Out of my way old man!" he said with hate in his voice as he activated one of his fireballs.
Koukennin then quickly grabbed Reikokuna by the neck and slammed him into the ground hard, Knocking him out.
"Whew, Glad that's over with" he said.
"Dad...".
Koukennin then turned to his side to see his son.
"Ross..." he said with relief.
The two smiled at each other, That's when Koukennin walked over to his son and held him.
"I'm so glad that your alright!" he said as tears came down his face.
Ross held onto his father tightly, Even thought he would never amit it to anyone. Ross truly did worry about his father, And he praied to god that he would be alright in this hellish nightmare.
"You don't know how happy I am to see you again dad" Ross said as he cried as well.
However, Their embrace was rudely interrupted.
"Stop with the happiness shit and FIGHT ME!" Reikokuna shouted as had his fire flaring in his hands.
Koukennin and Ross looked at him.
'Damn! I forgot all about the bloodlust drive's recovery system' Koukennin thought. Reikokuna then formed a fire whip in his right hand, And a flame sword in his left.
"Get out of my way already!" Reikokuna said as he swung his fire whip at them. Koukennin then stood in front of Ross as he shielded him from the blow.
"Gah!" Koukennin cried as he was knocked to the ground. Ross quickly ran to his side.
"Dad!".
Ross helped his father to his feet.
"Dad! Are you alright!?".
"Y-yeah...just a burn mark".
Ross then glared at Reikokuna.
"You're gonna pay for that!" he said as he then ran at him, Reikokuna then charged up his fire powers, As he formed a large fireball.
"Magma fireball!" Reikokuna said as he then threw the ball of fire at him.
Ross then jumped in the air, Dogging Reikokuna's attack. As he then charged his left foot.
"Charge kick!".
He then launched himself forward, And kicked his brother in the chest. Knocking him to the ground. Reikokuna quickly got back to his feet.
"That's it, I'm done playing around with you" he said as he then placed his arms over his chest.
"It's time to activate the second transformation!" he said.
He then charged up his fire all around his body.
"DRAGON INST-".
Bang!
"Hngh!".
Reikokuna then kneeled to the ground as he looked at his arm to see a needle sticking out. He then looked over Ross's shoulder to see Koukennin holding a Mk 22 Hush puppy pistol.
"You dare shoot at your first born!" Reikokuna said.
He then got to his feet as he then started running at him, However he started to quickly slow down.
"bastered...what...what did...you do?" he said in a tired tone.
Koukennin smiled.
"Tranquilizer rounds, Your body is shutting down on you" he said.
Reikokuna then felt his legs give as he fell to the ground. He glared at his father.
"This...isn't...over.." he said as he passed out.
Koukennin walked over to him as he picked him up and placed him over his shoulder.
"It is over, For now at least" he said. He then looked at Ross.
"You alright son?" he asked him.
Ross nodded.
"Yeah, I'll be fine" he said.
Koukennin sighed in relief.
"Good, I'll get rid of the trash here" he said as he then walked away, Ross rubbed his head as he walked over to the others.
"Everyone alright?" he asked.
Ross's group nodded, But the other group just looked at him. Ross took notice of this.
"What's wrong?" he asked them.
Before they could answer, Ross then glanced at Asami who was completely in shock. He then walked over to her.
"Hey now, You can put your gun away" he said "You don't have to shoot anyone".
Asami just looked at him until Alice grabbed her right arm.
"It's okay, Police lady! Angel saved everyone!" she said.
Asami then glanced at her gun.
"Ah...right. Yeah" she said as she put her gun away. Ross smiled at her.
"There we go" he said as he walked over to his friends.
Just then.
"Hey wait!".
Ross stopped as he turned around to see Hiro.
"Oh hey, Did yo-" Ross was quickly interrupted.
"Holy shit man that was cool! The way you did that lightning kick in that bastered was just pure badass! You're a real life version of Cole from infamous! And that guy is one of my favorite super heroes!" Hiro said with glee in his eyes.
Ross sweat dropped.
"Hehe, I-it was nothing really" he said.
Kaito then yelled at him.
"Just what in the world are you!?" he said "No human being would be able to do that! So you better start explaining yourself right now!".
Ross then glanced at him, Letting his eyes turn bright yellow.
"You don't have to yell" he said as he kept his gaze on Kaito, Kaito was in shock at the young man's sudden change in his eyes.
"I-I apologize for my sudden outburst" he said.
Ross's eyes then reverted back to normal.
"Thank you" Ross said as he walked over to his friends as they all left.
Asami just kept looking at him.
"Ross..." she said as she bit her finger as a blush came across her face. However, Her train of thought was interrupted by Hiro.
"Uhh, Police g...officer. C'mere a sec" he said.
Asami quickly turned to him.
"Ah, Okay. Roger that!" she said as she walked off with here group.
-starlarks coffee-
Ross's group was sitting around in the cafe as they were thinking about there next plan. Shizuka had told Ross what had happened, Much to the young man's shock and fear. He quickly declared Shimada a dead man, But Kaz had told him that he would take care of him, Making Ross a little better.
"So? How long are we going to stay here?" Rei asked Ross as the others looked at him.
Shizuka was asleep, As Zeke, Kohta, And Alice were playing. Saeko, Saya, Takashi, Kaz, And Rei were all sitting at the bar. And Ross was on the other side of the bar sitting in a chair with Yuuki on his lap as she was holding him.
"Not sure, Everyone's so exhausted" Ross said.
Rei then leaned up to his face.
"Well, I know you'll think of something" she said.
That's when Kaz slammed his fists on the table.
"Thinking of something and doing something are two different things!" he said as looked at Ross "Your girlfriend asked you how long will we be staying here!? How can we relax at a place with a guy who has no problems raping women in front of other people!? For all we know, Saya or Yuuki could be next!? Maybe you should-".
Saya quickly stopped Kaz.
"Hideki, Can I say something?".
"What Saya?".
"Shut up, Just lay off Hikatori here for a bit. He's already not doing so well now that his older brother is here with us. So yelling at him isn't going to fix anything. If you want to reach your goal, You'll need to plan ahead. And planning like that takes time!" she said.
Saeko nodded.
"I agree. You need to figure out how to get there, First of all. That's when you can start thinking of other problems. Do you know how much food and water you'll need? Will we be able to keep in contact?" she said "After figuring all that out, You should try to find the route to your destination and-".
Kaz quickly interrupted her.
"My house is a 20 minute walk from here!" he yelled.
Saeko was a bit taken back by his shouting, But quickly gain her composure as she glared at him.
"A 20 minute distance can take long as a whole night, Surely you know that by now, Hideki" she said.
Kaz just looked away from her as he crossed his arms.
"Yeah, Whatever..." he said as he glanced at Ross "But you had better fix this Hikatori".
Ross was really not in the mood for arguing, He had just found his father, But is still freaking about what happened to Shizuka, He's worried about his friends and their safety, And he's extremely Leery of his brother Reikokuna. Plus, He still wants to confront his mother.
Ross sighed as he rubbed his temples.
"Ok, I'll make sure to get everything fixed" he said.
Yuuki then kissed his lips.
"Ross, Please. Don't overdo everything" she said "You just need to calm down".
Saya sighed as well.
"Yuuki is right, If you don't relax. You're gonna lose your mind, And you really don't need that kind of stress" she said.
"I know, I know" Ross said.
Kohta then walked over to them as Alice was holding onto his shirt.
"Uhh, Saya?" he said.
Saya turned to him.
"Eh? Wh-what is it?" she said.
Kohta pondered a bit.
"I don't know a whole lot about electromagnetic waves and stuff, But...could that E.M.P blast really break every last piece of electronic equipment? Isn't there equipment that's made to be able withstand lightning? I just feel like if there's any place that was sheltered the equipment there should probably be fine" he said.
Saya glanced at Ross as a smiled came across her face.
"Protection against lightning wouldn't do shit! The limit any of that stuff could handle would be surpassed immediately. Shelter wouldn't help, Either...buildings are made of electronic equipment inside can receive incoming signals through antennas" she said "Well, I guess it also depends on how much area the explosion affected. But it's not like we can figure that out easily".
Kaz thought of something.
"What about cars?" he asked her.
Saya shook her head.
"Any cars with electronically controlled engines are no good. Besides, There's also the possibility that engine's spark plug got fried, Too" she said.
Ross sighed.
"Damn, To think my lightning could be that powerful" he said as he snickered a bit "Well, Maybe if I mastered my powers more. I might be able to fix the power".
Saya shook her head at him.
"Sure, That could work. But do you know where we can find a spark plug that still works darling?" she said.
Ross twitched as he then hit his head on the table over and over again.
"Fuck!" he said.
Saya then placed her hand on his head.
"Hey now, Don't beat yourself up" she said "It's not like the power going out is your fault".
Ross glanced at her.
"It might as well be" he said in a defeated tone.
Kaz then spoke up.
"What about old diesel cars? They don't use spark plugs, But they do have manual transmission and I think that we could get the pistons moving with the crank so we could get it moving on it's own" he said.
Saya crossed her arms.
"It's possible, But where would we find something like that? And besides, We'd need to go on a big adventure getting rid of all of 'Them' in the area and it'd just be a huge delay to everything else!" she said.
Saeko spoke up.
"What about things inside a vault at a bank?" she asked.
Kaz looked at her.
"There's a possibility that they'd be okay" he said.
"Let's look after we finish this meeting today".
The others looked over at Shizuka who was now awake.
"Maybe we'll even be able to find a laptop or something. There's a bank here, So I'm sure there's a big safe! Don't you think? Even if we have bicycles we'll be able to move faster than 'Them'. Plus, Ross could strike down some of 'Them' with his lightning" Shizuka said.
Kaz smiled at the idea.
"Yeah. You're right, Shizuka! Let's check that out" he said.
Saya then fixed her glasses.
"That'd be great" she said "But what if the other group wants it?".
Everyone got quiet fast, They really didn't want any conflict with the other group. That's when Ross sighed.
"I really don't mind sharing, But only if we find two of the same thing" he said "Everyone understand".
Everyone nodded, Saya just smirked at Ross as she started blushing. Ross quickly noticed.
"What are you smirking about?" he said playfully.
Saya then licked his lips.
"Oh nothing" she said with a sly grin as she got from her seat "Then that's that. We have our leaders orders. Let's get going!".
Everyone got from there seats, Rei then quickly ran over to one of the coffee dispensers.
"Ah, Wait a minute" she said.
Ross looked at her.
"Something wrong Rei?" Ross asked her.
Rei then came back with a glasses of coffee.
"There's no ice, But the drink dispensers here are fully functional" she said as she gave everyone a glass "Those people haven't found this place yet. So there was bottled water, Too. There's enough for everyone".
You're quite good at this" Saeko said.
Rei smiled.
"I worked part-time at a cafe one summer. My dad found out though, So I had to quit after a week" she said.
"Wow, This is good" Shizuka said gleefully, Alice dipped her finger in the coffee as she placed her finger in her mouth.
"Coffee's gross..." she said.
Ross laughed.
"Well Alice, It's not really for little kids your age" he said "But once your around our age, You might like the taste".
Alice stuck her tongue out.
"No thanks" she said.
Ross then walked over to her and rubbed her head.
"Heh, Alright" he said.
Alice smiled at him as she grabbed his arm, That's when Rei called to her.
"Alice, there's some juice here, Too" she said.
Alice smiled brightly.
"Really!?" she said.
Rei nodded at her, Alice then got from her seat.
"Oh oh! The pet shop here will probably have toys for Zeke, Too" she said, Zeke was very happy to hear that as his tail wagged.
"Bark! Bark!" Zeke yelped in excitement.
Ross smiled as he placed his coffee glass on the table.
"Let's split up for now. We should leave the guns hidden. The girls should all go check out the bank. After that, Go to the bike store and pick out a few bikes we can use" he said as he then turned to Saeko.
"Saeko, I'll trust you to take care of things if there's an emergency" he said to her.
Saeko smiled at him.
"Understood Hun" she said.
Ross nodded as he turned to Kohta and Kaz.
"I'm going to look around the offices and see if there's anywhere the electromagnetic waves didn't reach" he said "Hirano, Hideki, You two go to the roof and take a look at how things are around here" he said.
Kohta gave him a salute.
"You got it Ross! Oh, I'll stop at the camera shop and the book store on the way and pick up some extra binoculars and a map" he said.
Kaz nodded.
"Sure" Kaz said.
Ross nodded.
"Ok, Be safe everyone" he said.
Everyone nodded, As they all got ready to leave. They then saw Koukennin standing in front of them.
"sounds like you kids are in a hurry" Koukennin said.
Ross walked over to him and smiled.
"Dad!" Ross said as he hugged his father.
Koukennin held his son tightly.
"Hey Ross" he said.
The two then backed away as Koukennin then looked at the group of people behind him.
"Quite a bunch of people you have with you" he said.
Ross nodded.
"Yup, Dad I would like to introduce you to my team. Guys, this here is my dad" he said.
Koukennin then bowed to them.
"It's a pleasure to meet all of you" he said, Everyone nodded at him.
"The pleasures all ours" Saya said as she walked forward "I'm Saya Takagi, His girlfriend".
Koukennin then started to grin.
"Ha! His girlfriend Hm? Well then, I am very happy to-".
That's when Rei came forward.
"I'm his girlfriend as well! Rei Miyamoto sir" she said.
Koukennin then looked at her.
"O-oh, W-well. It's a pleasure to-".
"I'm Yuuki miku, I'm also his girlfriend!" Yuuki said.
Koukennin just looked at her.
"Wait!? You have-".
Saeko Busujima and Shizuka Marikawa came forward as well.
"I am his lover as well Hikatori sir, Saeko Busujima" Saeko said.
"Oh oh! I'm his lover as well, Shizuka Marikawa" Shizuka said.
Koukennin was totally at a loss for words. He then crossed his arms as he tapped his foot and gave his son a narrow expression.
"So" Koukennin said "You have a grand total of five girlfriends Hm?".
Ross scratched the back of his head as a sweat drop came down the side of his face.
"hehehe, Well. It's a long story" he said with a sheepish smile.
Koukennin just kept looking at his son.
"Mhm, I bet" he said.
That's when Saya jumped in.
"It's not what you think" she said "We have all had very strong feelings for Ross. And we all decided to share him, Since we didn't want him to just choose one of us".
Koukennin sighed.
"Well, It least I can understand some of what's going on" he said as he looked at Alice "And who would you be little one?".
Alice then ran up to Koukennin and hugged his leg.
"I'm Alice Maresato" Alice said brightly.
Koukennin then leaned down and rubbed her head.
"Hehe, Well Alice. It's very nice to meet you" he said with a smile, Alice smiled more as she held onto his leg.
"So, How did you end up with your teammates?" he asked her.
Alice then turned to Ross.
"Angel saved me" she said.
"Angel?".
"Mhm, Angel saved me from those monsters as well as Zeke. He's my guardian angel".
"Bark!" Zeke said as he ran over to the two and jumped on Koukennin's other leg. Koukennin then picked Alice and Zeke up in his arms.
"Well did he now" he said happily "Well, I am very happy to hear that".
he then looked at his son.
"You did a great job Ross, I'm very proud of you".
Ross held his head down as a smile came across his face.
"Thanks dad" he said.
Koukennin then glanced at the boys.
"And May I ask who these gentlemen are?" he said.
Takashi, Kohta, And Kaz stood forward.
"Hello sir, I'm Takashi Komuro" Takashi said.
"And I'm Kohta Hirano!" Kohta said.
"Kazuhira Hideki sir, But you can call me Kaz" Kaz said.
Koukennin nodded at them.
"Well, I am very happy to meet all of you" he said "I bet you all have been through so much".
Kaz sighed.
"Yeah, Everything has been happening so fast" he said.
Koukennin nodded at him.
"Well, I only hope that this nightmare ends soon" he said.
Ross then crossed his arms.
"I don't mean to interrupt dad, But can I ask you a question" Ross asked.
Koukennin nodded at his son.
"Sure thing, What do you want to ask me?" he said.
Ross took a deep breath.
"Is my older brother locked up?".
Koukennin's face went pale.
"Wh-what are you talking about? You don't have an older brother" he said.
Ross smirked.
"Dad, You don't have to lie" Ross said "Reikokuna told me everything. He told me about my powers, What the disease really is, Who he was, And...my mother".
Koukennin was quiet. Ross then spoke again.
"I'm not mad at you, I just want to know. Why lie to me about my life?" he said "Why were you trying to keep my real life a secret?".
Koukennin sighed, He figured out sooner or latter that he would have to face this.
"Alright Ross" he said "I think that it's time that I should tell you everything".
Ross nodded.
"Very well" he said.
Koukennin then cleared his throat, As he started to piece together his past.
"Alright, Back in 1990. I was a researcher in technology and medicine. I was always working on new ideas that would help mankind, I wanted to save lives. And I wanted to make sure that my work would be used for just that" he said "However, That was also the same year that I met a young woman. I fell in love with her, And we started dating. And then in over 5 months, We got married".
"Mom...".
"Yes, That was the year that I met Tsumetai. Your mother".
Koukennin sighed.
"I should have watched her, I should have seen through her lies and kind nature. In the end, I was a fool" he said.
Ross titled his head.
"How so?".
"When your mother and I married. We used our research to create many things. I trusted her with my work, Only to find out latter that she would abuse it for her obsession. When I found out about what she was really doing behind my back, I confronted her about it. She lied through her teeth about all of it, Saying that she was only doing it to create a new serum that would help get rid of diseases. I believed her, And turned a blind eye. Then she was pregnant with our first born son".
Ross then placed his hands in his pocket.
"The day my older brother was born" he said.
"Yes, The year of Reikokuna's birth" Koukennin said "As soon as he was born, I was never able to see him. Tsumetai was always with him, She would never let me see him whenever I asked her. Claiming that he was always tired or sleeping"
Koukennin looked at the ground.
"However, I found him one day away from her. But...he was different when I saw him" Koukennin said.
Kaz raised his eyebrow.
"Different?" he said.
Koukennin nodded "Yes" he said "I had noticed that his hands were scorched. I thought that he had burned them, But I was shocked when I found out that he was able to generate fire at will from his hands. That's when I put it all together, The reason why she wouldn't let me see Reikokuna".
"What did you do next?" Rei asked.
"I went to Tsumetai about our son. I asked her why she would do this to our child, Why would she use our son as a test dummy for our work" Koukennin said "She just ignored my words as if she was deaf. Then one year had passed, And around the second month, She was was pregnant again".
Everyone was quiet as Koukennin kept talking.
"She told me that she would be having another son in march, But I warned her. I told her that if she even thinks about using our child the same way that she did our other one, Then she would be sorry" he said "She agreed, But that only lasted for a few days until she then told me that she had a miscarriage. I was truly heartbroken, But...something told me that she was lying".
"So what did you do?" Ross said.
Koukennin looked at his son.
"After she told me about the miscarriage. I went into her study room, I wanted to find anything about why she had the miscarriage when she was in perfect health" he said "But that's when I found something in her study, I found a hidden room behind her bookshelf. I went inside, And what I saw still haunts me to this day" he said "I had found you inside of a large glass tube, Still as an embryo".
Everyone had there mouths drop in shock, Ross was just horrified.
"Y-you found me, As an embryo..." he said in a shocked tone.
Koukennin nodded his head slowly.
"Yes..." he said "Your own mother had surgically removed you from her womb while you were still an embryo. And she placed you inside of a large special tube that allowed you to grow as if you were still in the womb. That was also the day that I had found out about her work on experimenting, As well as her work on the killer disease that she had been working on for over 16 years".
Koukennin cleared his throat.
"I was horrified by all of this. So I quickly took action, I looked over her work on her undead serum that she had labeled the experiment of the dead" he said "It took me some time to crack it, But I was able to do it. And I created an antidote to counter it".
Hearing this made Everyone's ears perk up. Ross smiled brightly.
"You did! Do you have it with you?" he asked his father.
Koukennin sighed as he shook his head.
"No...sadly I don't" he said "By the time I was finished with the cure, You had been fully born. I hid my cure as I then went after you, And took you right from under your mother's nose".
Everyone's smiles quickly faded.
"Oh..." Ross said in an upset tone.
Koukennin then placed Alice and Zeke down as he walked over to his son and placed his hand on his shoulder.
"I'm truly sorry" he said "But you mattered more to me, In fact. I never really thought that she would even launch the serum because it was still in development at the time, And she didn't have the funds for all of the chemicals that were listed".
He then smiled at Ross.
"My child matters more to me, And I made sure to raise you to be the best child. But...it looks like your mother succeeded in experimenting on you after all" he said in a sad tone.
"The day I created lightning when I was 3 years old" Ross said.
Koukennin nodded.
"Correct" he said.
Ross then thought of something.
"I have a question though".
"Alright" Koukennin said.
"Why does Reikokuna hate you so much?".
"Reikokuna assumes that I had never cared about him when he was born. A little lie that was weaved by your mother while he was in her care 24/7" Koukennin said "He told me that when I found him, He said that I had hated him, And that I never wanted him. When in reality, That's not true. It hurt my heart to hear him say that, But it hurt my heart even more that she would do that to him. Tell him lies about me".
"Damn..." Ross said.
"Indeed" Koukennin said.
"Oh! That reminds me" Ross said "Do you know were mom is? That way we can get the cure" Ross said with hope in his voice, Koukennin shook his head.
"No, My memory is very hazy. So I don't have any idea where Tsumetai is now" he said.
Everyone sighed in defeat.
"Just great" Ross said.
Koukennin then crossed his arms.
"Well, I know that you all will find her. I have faith in all of you" he said.
Ross then scratched the back of his head.
"Sure..." he said as he looked at his team "Ok everyone, Scatter".
Everyone nodded as they all went about there way leaving Ross with his father. Ross then walked over to his father.
"Looks like we have a lot of catching up to do" Ross said.
Koukennin nodded.
"True, We do" he said
