Finals are killing me so I decided to update this story in case someone is still interested in it. Enjoy.
After lunch, Robbie went to the library. He might be a good student but he pretty much sucked in French. But it's not like he could just drop the subject and choose another language. Nope. His father wanted him to know as many languages as possible and unfortunately for him he had already learned Spanish and Russian. And HAES was also well known for its great language teachers who always happened to be native speakers.
While searching for the language section he heard a faint "Dammit!" Following the sound he saw a familiar red head trying to get a book from one of the top shelfs. Despite her killer heels (how was it possible for girls to walk around in such shoes a whole day anyway?) she was still too short.
Robbie took a deep breath and tried to act cool. "Need some help?" Cat turned around and smiled at the sight of the curly haired boy. Yep, she definitely had the most beautiful smile on the planet. "Is that our thing? You show up when I'm in need of a saviour?" Robbie blushed and reached for the book she wanted to grab. "Well, I'm not sure if the help I'm offering you is very heroic but I'm more than willing to save you all the time" Cat giggled loudly but Robbie was sure that his speech was ridiculously lame. He desperately wanted to kick himself for sounding so pathetic. "You're so cute, Robbie. I gotta go now, Jade's waiting for me. Bye" She smiled one last time at him and walked out of the library.
Robbie continued looking for his book but his thoughts were occupied by the petite beauty. She thought he was cute. That's better than nothing, right? Was he even allowed to have a crush on Cat since Danny has been trying to date her for forever? Was that even legal in Bro-world? He sighed and tried to concentrate on French. Of course he could've studied in the evening but tonight was an important football match and the boys were going to watch Moose play. He was never really interested in school sports but he thought it was important to support his friend. Also, cheerleaders. That was reason enough.
Robbie was on his way to the parking lot when somebody called his name. "Hey Robbie, wait up!" He turned around and saw Tori approaching. "Hey Shapiro, I think it's about time to continue with our project" Robbie face palmed himself. He had totally forgotten about it and it was due in two weeks. "How about we meet tomorrow during lunch? I'd say tonight but we can't miss the game" Robbie smiled. "You're right. Then I'll see you tomorrow. Should we meet in the library?" "Sounds fine. See ya!" She winked at him and went to meet André Harris at his car. The broad built boy with the dreadlocks was the school's running back and part of Tori's clique. It was rumoured by his geeky friends that he had a crush on Jade West which would be disastrous considering the fact that Tori and Jade couldn't stand each other. Holy fuck, what was wrong with him? He was starting to sound like a gossip obsessed girl. This school would drive him crazy one day.
Robbie stood at the top of the bleachers and tried to find Beck and Danny. Not an easy task considering that the majority of the school was there to support the football team. Suddenly his phone vibrated. He got a message from Beck telling him that they were stuck in a traffic jam and that he should go ahead and find them some good seats. Robbie sighed and walked to a middle row which could easily fit five more people and sat down.
"Hey, is my hero here to save me from falling?" Robbie looked up and saw Cat standing next to him – in a very short and very sexy cheerleader uniform. His mouth dropped at her sight but he quickly regained his composure. "You're a cheerleader?" Cat laughed. "Of course I am! In case you haven't heard already, I'm like the bubbliest person on earth. Who could be a better cheerleader?" She winked at him and he nearly melted. Was it cliché of him that he thought a girl in a cheerleading uniform was sexy? Whatever, he didn't care.
"Is it okay if I sit with you after our first routine? The other cheerleaders always complain about me being to jittery… can you imagine? How could a cheerleader possibly be too enthusiastic? And Jade and the others didn't want to come tonight" Robbie stared at her dumbfounded until he realized that she was waiting for an answer. "Yeah … I' mean of course you can sit with me. My friends are coming later because they're stuck in traffic" "Awesome! I gotta go. Wish me luck" She waved and joined the other cheerleaders at the field. Just at that moment Beck and Danny sat down next to him. "Great, we didn't miss the cheerleaders" Danny took a bite from his hot dog and looked at the girls in the short skirts. Beck grinned and handed Robbie a hot dog as well. "Thanks! I thought you guys would be late and I would be clueless to the action on the field" Beck laughed. "It's a little late now to give you a whole football lecture. Just cheer when we cheer. Moose's number is 23. Oh and by the way, our team is the one in blue" Robbie side-eyed him and which resulted in Beck chuckling lightly.
A few minutes later music started playing and the cheerleaders did an impressive dance routine and he even saw Cat flying around some time. After the huge applause the game started and it didn't took too long until he saw Cat coming in their direction.
Beck nudged Danny. "Dude, don't choke now but Cat Valentine is coming our way" Danny looked up and his eyes widened. He hectically searched for a napkin to get rid of the mustard on his chin.
"Hi! Robbie said it was okay to sit with you guys" Beck and Danny both looked at him and he shrugged. What was he supposed to say? It was Beck who spoke up first. "Sure, take a seat" He moved to make room and Cat ended up sitting between Robbie and Danny. The latter looked at Robbie and discretely gave him a thumbs-up. Robbie just smiled and tried not to focus on his dream girl next to him or the fact that his friend assumed he arranged that Cat would sit with them because of him. Apparently, their team made a point or something because the whole audience started shouting and cheering.
"So … Cat. Why aren't you down there, cheering for the team?" Danny tried to sound casual but Robbie heard the nervousness in his voice. "Brooke split the team up. I have to go down later in the second half of the game." "Oh. Do you want a something to eat? I could grab you fries or a hot dog or something" "I'm good, thanks" Robbie and Beck watched how Danny was slowly losing his confidence. Seems like Cat was either very invested in the game or she had enough of Danny hitting on her.
Later as Cat joined her squad again Danny turned to look at them. "Okay, why is she turning me down all the time? She doesn't even want to give me a chance to go out with her!" "Dude, let's face it: she's absolutely not into you. Why do you keep hitting on her? That girl is basically nice to everyone but you managed to annoy her. Just … you know, let it go" Beck patted his back and looked expectantly at Robbie. What, did he want him to agree and reassure Danny to stop going after Cat? Robbie just shrugged and Danny was quiet for the rest of the game.
"How about hitting the clubs tonight? I'm really in the mood for some drinks and chicks" the game was over and the school's team had won so people were cheering around them which made Robbie nearly overhear Danny's suggestion. "But we have school tomorrow. And I have to finish my project with Tori" "Don't be such a baby Shapiro. Live a little. Maybe Moose will come with us too" Beck snorted. "Yeah, right. You know he falls in his bed right after every game. I'm pretty sure he won't go anywhere tonight"
"Whatever. So it's just us three. Let's meet at my house at 9:30. See ya later Shapiro, come on Beck!" Beck and Robbie watched him jog to his car. "I guess he's pretty bummed about the whole Cat thing" Beck sighed. "Yeah. I think he's overreacting though. He was always more invested in the idea of dating Cat then in Cat as a person. He'll get over it. But as his friends we have the honour to watch him get drunk today and have the worst hangover ever tomorrow. Come on, we should get home and get ready"
The "Verdant" was one of the newest and most exclusive night clubs in Beverly Hills. Robbie had heard of it but never would've he thought that they would go there some time. Luckily, Danny's father was a friend of the owner and they got in without problems. They were even granted access to the VIP area. Robbie was impressed of the club and the VIP area. He spotted a familiar face and after more glances just to be sure he was positiv that he was being in the same room as Ariana Grande. How cool was that?
Danny ordered a huge bottle of Belvedere vodka for them. Robbie looked around. He still couldn't believe how every person in this city seemed to be attractive. Then he spotted Jade West and her clique sans Cat at a table at the far end of the VIP lounge.
He couldn't see much from where he was sitting but it seemed as though she and Ryder were having an argument. "Hey guys, look who's also here" The boys interrupted their conversation and looked in the direction Robbie was pointing at. "Why am I not surprised to see Jade West here?" Danny grinned and took a sip from his drink. "Huh, seems like her and Ryder have a mild dispute … aaand now she's telling him to GTFO and heading to the bar" He followed the girl's movement with his eyes.
"Hey Beck, now would be the perfect timing to hit on her. She's pissed at Daniels and might need some ..." he wiggled his eyebrows "distraction". Beck snorted. "Yeah right. Like hell I'm going to be the one who faces her wrath. Either way, I'm so over Jade". Robbie choked on his drink and rose his eyebrows.
"You sure about that? 'Cause I wouldn't mind lending her my shoulder to cry on" Danny said with a provocative tone. Robbie had no idea what was going on with Danny. Maybe that was his way to deal with rejection. "Whatever. It's not like she would talk to you anyway" Beck seemed calm but by the way he his hand tightened around his glass he was far from indifferent. "What's that supposed to mean? Just because Cat Valentine doesn't give a shit about me doesn't mean that a girl like Jade wouldn't be interested"
Beck snorted and Danny seemed not too pleased with his reaction. "Guys, maybe we should change the topic. Have you heard about the new restrooms …" Robbie tried to interfere but the boys were having a staring competition. Man, if looks could kill… "You know what, at least I am not too chicken to talk to the girl I like because I'm afraid she could reject me" Danny leaned back in his seat, pleased with himself. "Yeah, you rather chase her like a lovesick puppy" Danny snorted. "Whatever, I'm going down". "Down? Why … it's so great up here" Robbie tried to stop Danny but he was ignored as the determined boy left the VIP area and they couldn't see him anymore.
Robbie was speechless. He never saw the guys interact in such a way. Sure, there was always playful teasing and banter but this was different. "Uhm … are you okay?" Beck downed his drink and leaned back at the couch. "I am absolutely fine. If Danny is so intent on being an asshole I won't stop him" "Okay. Uhm … I have to pee. Are you going to be okay?" Beck glared at him. "I said I'm FINE!" Robbie didn't dare to say another word and left the VIP area. Truth be told, he didn't need to go to the toilet. He was going to look for Danny … or Jade … or Danny with Jade.
After a few minutes he spotted Jade sitting at a bar with a couple of empty shot glasses in front of her and to her right was Danny who seemed to be her new drinking buddy. Great, just great. Robbie couldn't hear what they were talking about but Jade didn't seem to mind Danny's presence since they were clinking glasses at the moment. "Fuck. This is so not good" He took a deep breath and went to sit next to Danny.
"Hey Danny, why don't you come back to sit with us?" Danny glared at him and Jade raised her eyebrows. "Hey Robert Shapiro. How did you get in here?" she smirked at him but she didn't sound offensive. "I came here with Danny. And Beck, who would gladly like to talk to Danny" Robbie stared intently at his friend but he snorted and ordered two Tequilas. "See Robbie, I'm busy talking to the hottest girl of the school. If you don't mind…" Jade rolled her eyes at his comment but didn't complain. "Come on, Danny. Let's just go back… Jade can come with us if she wants t…" "I said piss off!" Robbie's mouth dropped and he left without another word. Why did he even agree to go to this stupid club? To be yelled at by everyone? Okay, if Danny was so eager to ruin his friendship with Beck – not his problem!
Half an hour later, Beck was drunk as a skunk and Robbie was stuck listening to his drunk rambling. "An you know whas se biggest problem? Danny would sill be a shy an awkward little thirteen year old if I, yes I haven't start bein his frend!" Beck slammed his fist clumsily at the table and ordered another round of shots for them. Robbie tried to protest earlier but by now Beck didn't even see that Robbie wasn't drinking his shots. "Okay, I doubt he'd still be 13 but I get your point" "Exactly! You get what I'm sayin, Braces! Wait no … I call you Glasses. What's the time again?"
Robbie checked his watch. 1:30 p.m. They should probably get home – they were still drinking on a regular school day. Luckily his parents were in San Francisco for the whole week otherwise he would've been in a lot of trouble for staying out that late. "Hey Beck, let's head home. I'll call Moose, maybe he'll pick us up" Beck was leaning against the couch and just waved his hand at his comment. He went outside to call Moose who picked up eventually. Although he wasn't really amused that he had to get them ("Geez, why didn't you just stay at home you Fuckers!") he still promised to be there in about 20 minutes. When he went back inside he tried to spot Danny and Jade but they were nowhere to be found.
Just when he was about to enter the VIP area again he saw them heading to the dance floor. Well, at least they were staying PG 13. Back at their seating area he could see Beck had fallen asleep. Great. At least his passed out friend hasn't been spotted by a bouncer.
After 15 minutes of looking at people and regularly checking if Beck was still breathing, he tried to wake him up. "Beck? Hey Beck, wake up. Moose is going to pick us up now" He shook him but the boy was knocked out. A few minutes later he finally regained consciousness and they were about to leave the VIP section when he saw Ryder Daniels heading to the dance floor. Uh-oh.
He told Beck to walk faster and as they reached the dance floor there was already a small crowd watching a fight. A fight between Ryder and Danny to be precise. The fight was rather balanced since both boys were equally strong, equally mad and equally drunk. Next to him Beck seemed to sober up and shot forward to get Ryder off of Danny. When he managed that he turned around and – Robbie could not believe his eyes – punched him in the face. Danny was stunned for a moment but launched forward at his best friend and they started wrestling on the ground. Ryder on the other hand had realized that they had drawn quite the attention towards them and ran out of the club.
Robbie looked around but he couldn't see Jade anywhere. But he knew that he had to get the boys out before the bouncers interrupted them and called the cops. He tried to separate them with the help of some random bystanders but they were so into their fight that they didn't even realize when a fist (God knows whose fist that was) hit Robbie right on the nose and blood started pouring out. "What the fuck?!" He heard someone say behind him. Moose had arrived and stared speechlessly at the scene in front of him. He took in Robbie's bleeding nose and shook his head and went between Danny and Beck, eventually breaking up their fight. All hail to the football training! He dragged the struggling boys to the emergency exit door and indicated Robbie to follow him.
Once outside in the safety of the parking lot he let go of Danny and Beck. "What the fuck was going there? When Robbie called me to pick you up I thought you all might be a little drunk and not in the middle of a brawl!" Beck wiped away some blood from his nose and Danny was touching his bloody knuckles. Both avoided looking at Moose. He let out an exasperated sigh. "Robbie, would you be so kind to explain what was happening in there? Otherwise we'll stay here until I find out" Robbie was still holding his nose which hasn't stopped bleeding. He was just going to tell Moose what happened. By now he didn't care if Beck or Danny would be angry at him. They probably broke his nose, goddammit!
"Well it all started at the game when Cat Valentine didn't react to Danny's flirting. We got to the club, saw Jade and Ryder fighting, Danny provoked Beck to hit on her, Beck refused, Danny said he would hit on her, Beck was pissed and insulted Danny, Danny insulted Beck, they continued insulting each other until Danny followed Jade to the bar. There he got drunk with her, Beck got drunk while I was watching, Danny went dancing with Jade, I called you, Ryder went to the dance floor and started fighting with Danny, Beck intervened and got Ryder off of Danny, then he hit Danny himself, they started fighting, I tried to keep them apart and got hit accidentally - I hope -, you came in and now we're here" Robbie took in a deep breath after this long ramble and Moose was staring at him disbelievingly. "Let me get this straight: you two had a fight over a girl who's kind of in a relationship anyway and you ended up being nearly caught by the police and punching an innocent Robbie. Great job, really very mature. Now get into the car I'll drive you morons home and go back to sleep!"
Forty minutes later, Moose pulled up Robbie's driveway. "Thanks Moose. I'm sorry I had to wake you up and drag you into this mess" Moose sighed. "No, it's good that you called me. If I had arrived a few minutes later, who knows, maybe I'd now have to bail you out of jail" Robbie laughed lightly at his comment. "How's your nose?" "Better. I still don't know who punched me but he has a nice right hook" Moose laughed. "Yeah. Alcohol and anger doesn't go well. I wonder if Beck and Danny will go to school tomorrow … well, more like today. I just hope this argument will soon be sorted out" Robbie wasn't too sure about that but he didn't say anything. He thanked Moose again and left the car to enter his house to finally go to bed after this crazy day.
