Professor Xavier sat inside a large circular room clad in metal, by his side was Storm and Beast who seemed extremely concerned. All around the room shone numerous images of children and adults ill and frightened.
"It is as I feared… something is affecting mutants all over the world. Something that is causing their powers and minds to become unstable." Xavier sighed and turned to Storm and Beast who seemed just as ill as the images in the room.
"What can we do?" Storm said holding her head in pain, her eyes flashing white now and again, the air around her felt thick and cold. Next to her stood beast holding his arms crossed across his chest.
"We.. We must find the cause of this epidemic and rectify it before it escalates any further." he growled. Xavier concentrated looking for something anything that would cause such a thing to happen. He expanded his mind looking through the world, there were two different great pules of energy coming from two different mutants. One he did not know and was difficult to pinpoint while the other was familiar and simple to find Xavier gasped in shock when he realized who's mind he was sensing.
"Erik."

"You need me to what!?" Kurt asked. He, Rouge, and I sat in the X-Jet as Logan flew us deep into the Egyptian desert. Logan twitched in his seat as the jet swayed in the air.
"Like I told ya elf, Chuck said a force field around Magneto's fortress, I need you to port the X-jet inside it… no problem." Kurt paled and his mouth hung ajar while Rouge shook her head exasperated by Logan's nonchalant way of saying that.
"You cant be serious!" Rouge looked like she was about to smack Logan in the jaw. "Do you really think the fuzz ball can do something like that!?"
"Who you calling a fuzz ball!? I can do it no problem..." sadly we didn't have time to test this theory as we came close the barrier. It was weird to look at, it was a large round wall of light covered a mile long mound of sand. In the middle of it was a large building seemingly made from scraps of metal fuzed together by will alone. "Umm… on second though how about we get out of the jet and walk from here?"
"To late!" Logan chuckled as he sped the X-jet into the wall, we all screamed awaiting our demise as we came closer and closer to the wall. Within mere seconds we vanished in a puff of smoke and appeared out in the sand tumbling from the momentum into the dunes. I coughed out sand as I looked back to see and explosion behind us.
"Logan… I think the professor is going to kill you." Logan popped out of the sand laughing oddly. He turned to us and the look in his eyes made me shiver a bit in fear. He almost reminded me of the man who stabbed me.
"Over my dead body! Ahaha!" something was not right here I turned to Rouge who was dusting herself off and garbed Kurt.
"Do you guys know whats going on!?" I shouted slash whispered.
"I got no idea, everyone's been acting batty! I swear we were the only ones not doing something nuts!" Logan turned to us and shouted out.
"Hurry up! We got a dead line here!" Reluctantly we followed him through the sands as we reached the building. We just wishing to be somewhere else right now then to be near a crazed Wolverine and a metal controlling lunatic. Logan started to twitch more and extend and sheave his claws oddly like he was tying to keep them from falling out of his knuckles.
"Do..." Kurt turned to me confused and a light frightened. "Do you think he's finally gone crazy umm… crazyer?"
"He's not crazy!" I barked at Kurt in anger who jumped back frightened, Crest formed in-front of me and sniffed the air and ground as if he was looking for something. Rouge stared at him confused and asked.
"What are ya doing dog?" Crest seemed worried turning his head every which way as if something was planing to attack him at any moment.
'I… I don't… I think I sense my brother." he turned to the fortress and growled in fury. 'Something is wrong!' without another word he rushed for the fortress in speeds I'm not sure were possible, he ran right past Logan who was tossed back by the sheer force falling head first into the dunes. He stood up and barked enraged at the rash action of the wolf.
"Dam mutt! Watch where your going!" the four of us rushed after him entering the fortress, electricity blared all around us sparking and buzzing like a swarm of bees. The very air tasted dry and metallic as we walked deeper inside. Logan seemed worse and worse the farther we went in his arms shook and his face grimaced until he stopped in one corner keeling down in pain screaming like he was on fire.
"Logan!" I rushed for him and nearly screamed with him when I saw it. Down his knuckles spouted small streams of crimson blood. The flesh around the knifes tore apart from the knifes cutting into the tender flesh.
"GRAAH!" I pulled him to his feet and handed him to Kurt, I made him look at my eyes to make sure he did as I said. I knew being here was doing something to him and he had to get away.
"Take him out of here! Get him as far away from here as possible!" not wanting to argue he quickly did as I said and teleported away. I looked back at Rouge full of resolve. "We got to find out what's going on now!" a loud roar took us both by surprise, we ran as fast as we could all the while concerned and frightened for my father and whatever screamed down the hall. Once we reached what we thought was the center we found a horrid sight, there suspended in the air was a withered old man held up by metal wires and shielded by an aura of electricity. In front of the old man was a large bird with night blue wings perched next to Crest. Both the bird and Crest turned to us with a sullen look.
"What's happening? Who is that?" I asked pointing at the old man confused. Crest sighed and turned to the bird.
'Would you care to explain brother?' the large bird nervously nodded it's head in sorrow.
'I am rectifying my mistakes…' Rouge glared confused and walked up to the suspended man she gasped in shock once she recognized the face.
"That's Magneto isn't?" the realization hit me like a truck! That feeble old man hanging there was Magneto!?
"What are you doing to him And why is it making mutants go nuts!?" the raven covered it's face with it's wing in shame but relaxed once Crest placed a gentle paw on it's back encouraging him to speak.
'Long ago… I met a boy, wishing for power to strive past what he was. I was young then, just born from mother moon and given the task of guiding the winds of fate… I tampered with the winds and gave the boy power... power he used to conquer others and bring chaos to the world. Thankfully the mortals were able to stop him and seal him away for eons. Yet he bore many children before he was imprisoned and they gained fragments of his power. Their children gain said power through birth right and so on and so forth. Bringing us to the point where many mortals held the power I gave… yet that power was flawed. The mind's and body's of mortals can not take the force of the power anymore! It only got worse when Cain fooled me into giving him the power again… and when this man focused my power he made the flaw escalate into this!' The great bird spread it's powerful wings motioning to the electrical mass of metal chaos with disdain. I stood there looking up at the pained face of the old man just wondering what would become of him. I turned to the wolf and the raven seeing the sorrow and worry in their shining blue eyes and wondered just what they were feeling about this… and then I thought!
"Just what do you intend to do about it!?" The two great demigods jumped in shock at my outburst. "You two are the great children of the moon goddess! You each have power beyond anyone in the world and yet your sitting there feeling sorry for yourselves!"
'Every time I interfere in the affairs of mortals horrible things happen… I have let the winds of fate flow without my guidance for eons… I must leave this to fate.' I smiled standing in-front of the bird and preened his feathers down gently and looked into his large blue eyes.
"… Soran." I grabbed the stupid bird by it's scrawny neck and shouted in his face. "YOU ARE FATE! your mother brought you into this world for one dam resign, to be fate incarnate and lead people down the paths they need to live their lives to the fullest. Part of that is lending them the push they need to get through the rockiest ways. Since you screwed up it's your duty to fix this by any means necessary!"
'But how!? To takeaway the power could very-well shatter a person's whole being!' That couldn't be right. I went through this and so did Lance… wait… that was it! I rushed in-front of the old man holding my hand over my chest and concentrated as hard as I could on his heart…
Deep within his heart was hatred, pain, and misery. A memory echoed within his heart and pushed it's way into my mind. A young child stood in-front of a closed barbed wire gate with his mother. They were draped in rags and looked malnourished and miserable. A man dressed in uniform stood in-front of the woman and child holding a rifle. The woman afraid pushed the child behind her as the armed man grabbed her by the neck and tossed her across the ground. The young boy rushed for his mother crying out in fear.
'Stop it!' the boy shouted at the man fruitlessly as he aimed the gun at them both.
'Quite monster!' He fired the gun letting loose a barge of bullets that all stopped when they came inches from the boy. The bullets floated there as the boy waved his arm sending them back at the man in such a force that he was pushed back into the dirt.
'Leave us alone!' the man quickly ran away in fear leaving the boy standing over his mother who suffered from the ground in pain. 'Mother… he's gone now, it's OK.'
'I'm sorry Erik…' the boy stared in shock as the woman bled from a bullet hole in her chest. One stray bullet got through and one bullet was enough to end the poor woman.
'Mother!' the boy sat there crying as his mother slowly faded away. Her eyes fluttered shut and he screamed in misery sniffling alone in the world. 'They will pay… those dam people. They will all pay.'
The image faded as I stared at the old man in sorrow. The pain in his heart was so great and yet he lived for so long all alone. A small silver tear fell from my eye and slowly floated to the suspended man, once the tear touched his body he became engulfed in blue flames that surged through out the building in a wave of light. Soran, Crest, and Rogue stood awestruck as the old man's body changed and sifted back into the young strong man he used to be. The flames faded away along with the aura of electricity, the metal around us fell like a game of ganja until we were once again under the light of the sun. I looked to the horizon seeing the wave of fire echo past the dunes and force field shattering it and out continuing out into the distance.
"W...What did I do?" Soran walked toured me and smiled as much as he could with a beck.
'Something I could not, you opened your heart to one so cold and withered and mended the wounds of his heart. Not only did you save him but you may have fixed my mistake… I can never thank you properly for what you have done. Please call upon me at anytime, should you find yourself in the brink of destruction I will spread my wings and call upon the winds of fate…. Thank you with all my being, big brother... Farewell.' the great raven rose into the sky and vanished behind a thick lining of silver clouds. I turned to Magneto and helped him to his feet.
"Are you OK?" the look in his eyes as I asked that was heartbreaking.
"Why?" looking into his eyes I just smiled seeing that little kid hidden within his broken heart.
"Why not?" He couldn't look me in the eye as I spoke. "I don't need any resign to help someone out. I do it because it's the right thing to do. I just hope doing this makes you see things differently… your not alone you know… don't you?"
"..." without a word he stood up raising his hand as the metal around him formed a circular sphere encasing him lifting him up and away while I stood there watching him go. Rouge placed her gloved hand on my shoulder and I turned to face her.
"I know what you tired to do… but some people cant be helped." I chuckled much to her surprise.
"They can, they just need time to see what's real." I turned my head seeing Crest looking at me with pride. They look on his fuzzy face told me everything. I just accomplished what a being of great power couldn't… which made me think something morbid. If interfering with fate always turned horrible… then what would this change? What would happen now that I tampered with fate? "What will happen now?"
'What must.' Crest nudge my hand comfortingly, a knot filled in my gut, just thinking about this made me feel sorry for the raven. Anything he does effects everything… no wonder he was so cautious on helping Magneto. 'All we can do is keep trying, as long as we persist without fear we will find our way.'
"Well said mutt." I jumped a little in excitement when I heard Logan's voice. He stood there with Kurt looking smug but healthy. His knuckles were caked with blood but he looked fine. "Hey there Pup."
"Logan!" I ran at him jumping into his arms. He chuckled as I nuzzled into his chest. "You had me worried for a second there… But… how are we going to get home?"
"…." Logan looked back to the still smoking wreckage of the X-jet and pouted… "Crap."
