Sorry about the long wait! I am currently at college, and my professor pushed back an assignment that I have no idea how to do, so I thought I could be a productive procrastinator. So quick update, my dad had a stroke, so I might be able to update more as I will be going back and forth via train and will have several hours when I am not doing homework. Hopefully…
"I'm going." Neal said firmly. Peter had woken Neal and Elizabeth after Jones and Diana left and filled them in on what the agents had said. Well, most of what the agents said. Peter left the picture out. They were currently enjoying a late breakfast at the counter.
"Neal are you sure?" Elizabeth asked, placing her hand on his shoulder. "After last night do you really think-"
"Forget about last night." Neal said, cutting her off. "It was a one time slip up, won't happen again."
"Neal-" Peter started.
"No, I'm going. I need to find Mozzie." Neal said firmly. He scooped the last of the eggs Peter had made into his mouth. "Thanks for breakfast, and for last night. I'm going to go clean up my room and get changed, then we can go to the office."
Neal got up and scurried to the stairs. Peter waited until he could hear the door shut to talk to Elizabeth.
"Do you think he's ready for this?" He asked her.
"I think he thinks he can handle it. He just wants to find his friend badly and it's eating him up inside that this Keller guy has him. Neal doesn't realize that though, so he thinks he's fine." Elizabeth said. "Also last night his mood dropped once we mentioned school. I think something might be wrong there."
"Diana mentioned how the officer worker who called about Neal this morning was extremely rude to him. If the adults who are supposed to be looking out for him are like that, what must the kids be like?" Peter told her.
"School must be piling up on Neal then too. You should try talking to him about it." Elizabeth told him.
"Ill try, but no promises. How did I get so lucky to marry such a kind, insightful woman?" Peter said, pecking Elizabeth on the cheek.
"You put surveillance on me to see if I was going out with anyone." Elizabeth said with a smile.
"That I did. It worked out pretty well though, right?" Peter responded.
"Yep, wouldn't change it for the world." Elizabeth told him.

The ride to the officer was awkward. Peter kept opening his mouth and shutting it, like he wanted to say something. On the fourth mouth-opening attempt, Peter actually made a noise. Neal though, who knew Peter wanted to talk about something, wasn't going to take the risk that the next time Peter opened his mouth words might actually come out. He put on his headphones and blasted the music as loud as his ears could handle without any damage.
The elevator ride was less awkward because there were more people and Peter wasn't attempting to speak. Either way, when they hit the 21st floor, Neal sprinted off of it and to his desk. He vaguely register Peter calling Diana to his office, but he just wanted to keep his head down right now. Peter had informed him about all the commotion about neither of them showing up at their respected places. Neal didn't need more attention thrown at him.
"Hey Neal!" Jones called to him. Neal had to bite back the groan as Jones approached his desk.
"Hey Jones, what's up?" Neal asked throwing his smile at him.
"Nothing much, I just wanted to make sure you are okay. I know you had a rough night so-"
"I'm fine Jones." Neal said bluntly. "Last night was just a slip up, whatever Peter told you, I am fine."
Jones looked at him skeptically for a second. "You know its okay to not be okay. Especially with what you have been through. If you need anything I can-"
"Alright, enough. Did Peter put you up to this?" Neal asked, getting slightly angry. He knew that Jones and Diana found out about how mean the school officials are to him that morning, and after the car ride with Peter, Neal was getting paranoid.
"No he didn't. I'm here because I worried about you." Jones said calmly.
"Yeah, right." Neal snorted. He stood up and leaned towards Jones. "Whatever you heard from Peter, its wrong. I am fine. Whatever you heard from the school, let it go. I am fine; I am dealing with it, so back off. Tell Peter I'm taking a break. Don't worry I won't leave the building, I'm the FBI's pet criminal remember? I can't go anywhere anyways."
With that, Neal stormed away, leaving a surprised Jones still standing at his desk.
Sorry about the lack of updates again. I should be able to knock out another one this train ride, but no promises.
