Chapter Thirteen

The group stared at the house. Nadia had her right hand up while her eyes were straight white. She searched and searched, but she knew that something was blocking her. She had her guesses but didn't want to alarm the others. She stopped and shook her head. Renee and Kane spied the perimeter and counted twenty guards. Jericho stayed beside Cody, Evan, and Alicia. His mind and heart were heavy with worry. For the first time in a long time, he prayed. He prayed for the safety of his friend and lover. He prayed for Punk and hoped that the two were keeping each other company.

"Anything?" Alicia asked.

Nadia shook her head. "I'm afraid not. I don't understand why Ish sent me. My abilities aren't shit compared to..."

"She sent you here for a reason," Evan said. "Don't ever doubt yourself."

The young black woman smiled at the smaller man. "I guess you're right."

"Let me help you," he said. "I was able to see this place with Cody...maybe I can help you."

She nodded and took his hand with her left. She held up her right and focused once more. She could make out the layout and structure of the building. There were three stories of the plantation and behind it a church. Behind the both of them were sub-levels and she could see many young people kept in individual sleep chambers.

"There's about five hundred or so sleep chambers," she said.

"What?" Jericho asked.

"Sleep chambers...with virgins for the sacrifice," she said.

"Five hundred?" Cody asked.

"Just about...if not more," Nadia said.

"Shit!" Alicia said.

Kane and Renee came over to them. The large man looked at everyone.

"Everything all right?" he asked.

"They have the sacrifices...about five hundred or more," Alicia said.

Kane looked at her and took her with his arms.

"We have to get them out," she said.

"We will," he replied. "We will."

"I found Punk and Adam," Nadia said.

Jericho went and stood by her side. He stared at her.

"Adam is being held in the master bedroom," she replied. "There is another man with him...almost looks like him."

"Christian," Jericho breathed.

"Probably."

"Where's Punk?" Cody questioned.

"Another part of the house...first floor," she answered.

Cody nodded. "We need to let the others know."

"We will," Nadia said as she brought her hand down. "Not here. We could get spotted...if they haven't already."

Kane nodded. "We need to move away from this area. Find a central location...a suitable base."

"I would have to agree," Renee said.

"We'll talk with the others," Kane said as he rubbed Alicia's back. "Let's move."

They pulled into their vehicles and moved away from their spot. Wind and rain fell down hard just as a patrol came into the area. Two men got out of their car and looked around.

"There's nothing here," one of the guys said.

"But Gangrel said that he felt someone watching the house," the other said.

"Well, nothing is here."

They examined the area and soon gave up.

The group set up at a nearby emptied house. Alicia and Cody went around and put up wardings until the others got there. Several vans pulled up and Kane watched them. He smiled when he spotted Show and Taker. The guys unloaded the vehicles and set up the house as their base. Jericho gave them the rundown about the plantation.

"Where's Mike?" Evan asked.

"He's with Ish and Yoshi at the house," Randy replied. "She didn't want him to leave."

"And the house wouldn't let him," Jeff replied.

Nadia nodded while Evan and Cody tilted their heads.

"Who's she?" Taker questioned as he stared at Renee.

"She works for me," Cody answered.

"And she's a Hunter," Alicia said.

He folded his arms over his chest and nodded.

"She was following Alicia and I," Kane said. "I made her come along."

Taker nodded once more.

They boys broke into groups and discussed strategy. Randy stood at the window and stared at the direction of plantation. His mind was on Punk. Even though he and the loudmouth never got along, they had become close and loved the same man. He rubbed his forehead and gritted his teeth. He needed to the young man back and have their family home again.

Jericho leaned against a wall. He needed to make sure that his love was all right, but he knew that if he went in there, Adam would be made at him. He didn't want his boyfriend to be mad at him, but he just needed to know that he was all right.

Vickie stared at him and sighed.

"What?" he asked.

"Ish told me to give you this and that maybe you should go ghost to get in there," she replied as she pulled small box out of her purse. "I don't know."

He stared at the box and held out his hand.

"Jericho..."

"Please."

She sighed once more and handed him the box. He took it and just held it in his hands. He opened it and stared at the crescent moon pendant necklace. He pulled it out and just stared at it.

"What are you doing?" she asked.

He looked at her and raised an eyebrow. "You can't see it, can you?"

She stared at him as she furrowed her eyebrows. She shook her head.

He smiled and put on the necklace. "I'll be back in an hour or so."

"You're really going to go?" she asked.

He nodded. "I need to know. I need to know if Adam...and Punk is okay."

Jeff stood at the doorway with Matt behind him. They knew that it would be dangerous for the man, but they knew that they couldn't stop him. When Chris made up his mind, he was doing to do what he was going to do.

Jericho put on the necklace and slowly became a ghost. He took a back-step and went toward the plantation.

Mike and Yoshi had a chest set in front of them. Both were deep in thought and tried to figure out a way to beat the other. Ish watched them as a smile played on her lips. She turned her head slightly to hear the fairies. Their singing grew stronger and stronger.

Sheamus came into the room and watched them. He went to Ish and knelt down.

"Shouldn't we have gone with the group?" he asked.

She shook her head. "Not yet. I'm going to send the Guaritori and you soon. Then, we'll be right behind."

"Is it wise to take him along?" He tilted his head toward Mike.

She nodded. "After we get there...they will come."

Sheamus furrowed his eyebrows. "They?"

She smiled. "We're getting an army to help us."

"An army?" Yoshi asked as he turned to look at them.

She nodded.

"Who's coming to help us?" Mike asked.

Her smile broadened. "I called in a few favors. However, not only are my friends are joining in on the fight, but another is joining our side."

Chanarong sauntered into the room and looked at them. He leapt onto a seat and stared at the chest game. He reached his paw out and patted Mike's knight to take Yoshi's pawn.

"Hey, no helping," Yoshi said.

Mike grinned.

"Do you hear the singing?" the cat asked.

Ish nodded. "I hear them...and they're getting louder and louder."

Sheamus closed his eyes and listened as well. His body began to feel warm and his mind became calm. He nodded.

"So beautiful," he whispered.

"It's almost time for our friend to wake up," Ish replied.

The boys smiled at her and nodded.

Chanarong looked at Yoshi's side and moved his rook to take Mike's knight. He had a feeling that this war would be won and he knew that they had the best chances with the dragon-kind leading them. He just hoped that misconceptions wouldn't bring about chaos and further death. He looked up at the ceiling just as the house groaned. He nodded and understand what the being was feeling.
