It's Saturday and I have school on Monday so today is like the only day for me to write so I'm going to write! I really hope you guys have liked the story so far and follow it! This chapter will resume the story line with Eren going to court so if you're somehow confused, that's where we are at lol. Please review the story or comment or something! Ch. 19
I'm tired of seeing Eren in that damn cell. He doesn't need to be in there anyways. He needs to be set free and bask in the freedom the rest of us have-Well, besides fighting for our lives from the Titans. It had been hours since Levi told me to take a break and I just couldn't take it anymore. So, I went back down there and decided to have a little chat with him. By the look on his face I could tell he was expecting me.
"Thought you would come earlier than this."
He said. I growled and stood next to him.
"I thought you said the trial would begin soon…"
I said, my voice slightly angered. He sighed and crossed his arms.
"Unfortunately, those bastards are taking longer than expected. I'm sorry."
I let out a low gasp and widened my eyes. The great leader Levi apologized!? To me!? I don't even think he's apologized in his life. This made me feel guilty about getting mad at him and I calmed down.
"Well…it's not your fault…."
He sighed again and slightly smirked when we heard footsteps. I turned my head to the left to see one of the most intelligent, yet annoying, woman I had ever known. Hanji Zoe. I turned to her and she grinned as she me and readjusted her glasses.
"Ah, nice to see you again Robina. How's it going? Get me any Titans yet!?"
She said as she got close to me. I giggled and shook my head. Back then, I met Levi first. Then I met the rest of his group, including Hanji. She never lost her fascination with Titans and was always this crazy.
"Unfortunately, I killed them all. Hahaha, sorry. And I happen to be a Commander now so I'm doing okay."
She made a surprised look and then it changed into a look of admiration.
"I see."
"Yep! And I don't mean to be rude but….why are you here?"
I asked her. She grinned and turned to Eren's cell.
"To see 'him'."
Eren must have heard us and sat up in his bed, trying to look through the douche bag soldiers that were in front of us. Hanji saw him and immediately slammed her hands on the bars, scaring the shit out of Eren. I forgot she did stuff like that.
"So then, you're Eren! Are you well? How are things? I'm really sorry you've been waiting so long. But here's your chance to finally get out!"
I smiled as I saw Eren's face relax with relief. He 'did' wait in there for a long time after all.
"One thing, you'll have to put these things on for me okay?"
She said as she passed him some shackled handcuffs. Once on, I unlocked the cell door and let him out. He gave me a hopeful look in which I returned but quickly went back to a stern look I was assigned to. The guards surrounded Eren in a walking formation and waiting for mine and Hanji's lead. I guess Levi left when I didn't notice him.
"Let's go."
I said as we begin walking. Where were we going? The Courthouse.
"My name is Zoe Hanji. I'm a section commander for the scouts. This is a fellow commander in the scouts, Mike Zacharius."
I looked at him with disgust as he was sniffing Eren. What the hell? Eren seemed grossed out as well.
"Oh don't mind him. He makes a habit of giving new people a thorough sniff. He tends to laugh through his nose a bit. But I don't think he intends it to be derisive. Quirks aside, he is a skilled section commander."
She said as we continued to walk. Then there was an awkward silence until we reached the door and I was thankful for it. She was actually giving me a headache with her talking already.
"Oh pooh! Sorry! I've just been prattling on with the small talk and now we're here. Well I'm sure it's fine. It's probably better if I don't explain anyway."
She said. They opened the door and I gripped Eren's arm. He tried to resist but I gripped it hard enough for him to come with me. He looked back at Hanji and she gave him a serious look.
"It might seem callous but remember we've all put our faith in you Eren. Best of luck."
And with that, she slammed the double doors, leaving me and Eren alone. He looked at the ceilings with amazement.
"I was in the basement of a courthouse this whole time?"
He asked me. But I ignored him for Levi's sake and pulled his arm tightly. As I walked to the middle, people looked at me like they were expecting me to do something irrational. Maybe this was what Levi meant. Did they know mine and Eren's relationship?
"On your knees."
I said. Eren hesitantly followed my command and did what he was told. I set the huge metal pole in the middle and tied him to it. There was no way he could get out or move his arms. I stood next to him and crossed my arms. As I looked around, I noticed that everyone was just staring at Eren. Most probably all of the people here thought he was guilty of whatever he was charged with, besides the scouting regiment of course. I looked to my left to see Armin and Mikasa staring at me. I wish I could've ran over to them and told them that it was okay but that wasn't possible right now.
"Damn…"
I muttered. The door in front of us suddenly opened and the judge sat in his chair.
"Alright, shall we begin? Your name is Eren Jaeger and as a soldier, you have sworn to give up your life when called to. For the good of the people, is that correct?"
I looked at Eren as he replied.
"Yes."
The judge began speaking again. He told him that he was chosen to decide whether Eren would live or die. This was the man who held his life in his hands…
"Any objections?"
"No sir."
Said Eren as he comprehended what he just said. The judge began telling him the terms of what happened if he lost or won.
"You will either be put in the custody of the military police….or…..the scout regiment. To begin, the military police will now present their case."
I glared to the person who started to speak.
"Thank you! My name is Nile Dok! I am the commander of the military police! Our recommendation, following a thorough examination of his physiology, subject Eren Jaeger should be disposed of immediately."
He said as he looked at Eren. I continued to glare at him. He was the man behind this. If I could, I would testify and dispose of him instead. He was a dumbass bastard that knew nothing of what he was doing. A twat in the least….
"…we acknowledge that Jaeger's ability played a part in turning back the latest Titan incursion. However, as has been stated, his mere existence is creating a swell of rebellious sentiment. For the greater good, after we have gathered all of the information that we can from him, we would see him made a fallen warrior of humanity."
He had finished talking and I was grateful. But then the person next to him screamed out,
"Unacceptable!"
My eyes turned to him and widened. He was a wall cultist. The church casted them out so they went to the extreme and annoyed the shit out of everyone around them. Personally, I loved the church but I hated these guy's guts more than the military police. They were crazy-not just crazy, insane. Though they had gathered a following, nobody listened to this fool now. So the judge passed the case on to the scouts. Commander Smith stood up in all of his glory and spoke.
"Yes sir. As the commander of the Survey Corps I, Erwin Smith, propose the following: Let Eren join our ranks, reinstate him as a full member of the scouts. And we will utilize his Titan ability to retake Wall Maria. That is all."
He said. I couldn't help but slightly smirk and agree with everything he said. He was always a smart man when it came down to it. People around us begin to murmur and mutter to each other and to themselves. The judge's eyes went wide.
"Hmm? Is that it?"
"Yes. With his assistance, sir, I'm certain we can reclaim Wall Maria. There go, our top priority is perfectly clear."
He said in his deep voice. The judge readjusted his glasses and smirked. He questioned our plan and the commander told him on command. Of course, an idiot had to have an outburst and interrupt him. But now he had set off something entirely different. People were arguing back and forth. I looked at Levi and he gave me a reassuring expression. I sure hope my trust isn't misguided. But oh my god, they wouldn't shut the fuck up. Even the judge had to stop them.
"Order! I ask that you save your personal sentiments for a more appropriate venue. Now then, Mr. Jaeger, I have a question for you. As a soldier you have made a solemn pledge to answer humanity's call. Can you still serve by controlling your abilities?"
He asked Eren. I already knew what he would say.
"Yes. I will, sir!"
"Oh…is that so? Of this report, from the battle of Trost, contradicts that statement."
The judge said as he held up a piece of paper to read.
"…just after transforming, It seems you made an attempt to crush Mikasa Ackerman and Robina Shadis."
Eren instantly turned to his sister than to me with a look of shock. My expression was blank as I looked at him but I slowly nodded. I guess he never knew what he had done that time before. Mikasa started twirling her hair, I guess in nervousness. Then she glared at the woman next to her. Rico. I'm sure she reported that without a sense of guilt.….but it's her job, I guess.
"I'm sure we all know who Ms. Shadis is, but who is this Ms. Ackerman?"
Mikasa turned to the old man.
"Me! That's me, sir!"
"Well then, is it true that Jaeger assaulted you while he was in Titan form?"
He asked. Mikasa looked at Eren and thought of her answer. Rico whispered something to her but it was faint. Please say yes Mikasa, we have to be truthful for this to work.
"Yes, all of that's true."
She said. The judge turned to me and asked me the same question.
"And Commander Robina Shadis. You fought alongside Ms. Mikasa and Mr. Jaeger. Is it true that he assaulted you as well in his Titan form?"
I sighed and nodded my head.
"Yes sir, he did. This report is factual."
I said as Eren looked at me, shocked. But I had more to say.
"However, he has saved mine and Mikasa's lives twice before. And in each circumstance, he was using his Titan ability. The first, shortly after Trost fell, we were nearly killed by a Titan. But then Eren came. He stepped in and protected us. The second time, he transformed to shield Armin, Mikasa, and me from cannon fire. I implore you to take these facts into consideration."
I said with the most emotion I have had in days. I looked to Levi and he nodded in approval.
"Objection!"
I turned to my right and looked at the military police leader.
"We have reason to believe that personal feelings play a large part in her testimony. Let the record show that Mikasa Ackerman was orphaned at a young age and was taken in by the Jaeger family. Ms. Shadis is a longtime friend with Jaeger and also watched over him in his cadet training."
Again, I hate this guy's guts. I glared at him and Mikasa did the same. Was all of my stern behavior for nothing over the last couple of days?
"…what's more is that our own internal investigation in this matter led to a shocking discovery. Eren Jaeger and Mikasa Ackerman, at the age of nine, dealt with three adult kidnappers by stabbing all of them to death."
I couldn't help but give a low gasp and look at the siblings. They never told me this…They killed three people? Three kidnappers…..in self-defense. It still shouldn't be held against them at that age.
"Granted, this was done in self-defense. All of the same, one cannot help but question the violent nature of the act. Knowing all of this, should we really invest in him; Money, manpower, perhaps the very fate of us all!?"
People begin to mutter again and I felt like screaming at the top of my lungs for them to stop. But I stood my ground like Levi told me too and kept quiet. It didn't help when they accused Mikasa of being a monster as well. I stepped back as Eren begin to yell.
"Now hold on a second! I'm the only monster you want dead! But you leave her out of this! She's innocent! It's the truth! Stop it!"
He screamed as his shackles slammed on the pole. I got close to him and put a hand on his shoulder to stop. But he never did.
"You're wrong about it all…But you so intent on pushing selfish agendas…You're blind to what's in front of you."
Everyone was silent now.
"Wait what do you mean?"
Asked Commander Nile. Eren glared at the man.
"What does it even matter? None of you have even seen a Titan. So why are you so afraid, huh!?"
I stared at him and knew that he wouldn't stop. I gripped his shoulder harder and begged him to stop. He furrowed his brow at me and glared at the men to the right.
"…there's no sense in having power if you're not going to use it to fight! If you're too scared to fight for your lives, fine. Let me do it. You! You're all cowards! Just shut up and put all of your faith in me!"
He screamed. My eyes were wide as I looked at him. He really had no self-control. One of the soldiers aimed his gun at him and I got in the way, protecting Eren.
"You won't be doing that, I assure you."
I said. But then it happened. Eren's face came in contact with Levi's boot, making a tooth shoot from his mouth. I turned around surprised and shocked at the same time. Eren did the same but was kicked in the stomach, then kneed to the face. I grabbed Levi and he gave me the look that said that this was his plan. I gasped but growled in understanding. I nodded and turned to Eren. I brought back my right boot and kicked him in the stomach…..hard. I felt like crying every time I did it but Levi promised me that this would save him somehow. I trusted him. Levi and I continued to kick and punch him with all we had. The crowd around us stared in disbelief, especially Mikasa. I saw her try to rush at us but Rico stopped her. I'm sure Levi told her the plan as well. Levi kicked Eren's head to the ground and kept it there. His blood was everywhere; rom my boot to the cold hard marbled floor.
"You know, personally, nothing works better than pain. You don't need a good talking to, you just need to be taught a lesson. And you happen to be in perfect kicking position for Robina and me."
He said as he looked at me. I nodded and begin to kick him again. The room was silent except for Eren's grunts of pain. Commander Nile finally had enough of it.
"N-Now hold on, you two."
He said. So this is what Levi's plan was. Make the enemy feel sorry for Eren and set him free? Smart but with a cost. Levi took his foot off Eren's face and turned to the man. I crouched and lifted Eren's face. His beautiful eyes looked at me like I betrayed him. I gave him a slight smile and he stopped glaring at me. He knew that this was for his greater good.
"I-It's dangerous. What if he gets angry? What if he becomes a Titan?"
He asked. Levi looked at me and I nodded, kicking him again.
"Don't be silly."
He said as he grabbed Eren by the hair. He just looked awful. I felt a tear form in my eyes but I quickly wiped it away without anybody noticing. When we get out of this, I'll make it up to him somehow.
"After all, you guys just want to dissect him don't you? During the time that he was transformed, it was said that Jaeger was able to kill 20 Titans before he finally ran out of strength. As an enemy, his intelligence makes him all the more dangerous. But Robina and I can still take him down without a problem. How many of you can say the same? Before you torment the beast, you better think….can you actually kill him?"
I smiled as I looked at Levi. He was so smart without even revealing it until now. Commander Smith raised his hand and began to speak.
"Sir! I have a proposition!"
"Proceed."
"There's still too much that we don't know. And no doubt, his danger will be ever present. As of such, I suggest this; Eren Jaeger be placed under Captain Levi's supervision. I will be there as well and monitor at all times. Everything will be recorded. And if he successfully controls his ability, Eren will have proven his value to mankind."
He said. The judge thought for a moment. I didn't know if this was good or bad.
"Eren Jaeger will be closely supervised? And if he should lose control?"
Levi smirked.
"I can definitely kill him if it comes to that. The only downside is, there is absolutely no middle ground."
The judge put his hands down and looked at us.
"Then I have made my choice. Eren Jaeger will be in the full custody of the Scouts. Court dismissed."
I gasped and smiled. I can't believe it worked. I couldn't help but give Levi a bear hug after we got out and cry into his shoulder.
"T-Thank you Levi….Thank you so much!"
I screamed in his vest. He smiled and hugged me back.
"Anything for you, kiddo. It must've been hard to hurt him like that."
I wiped away my tears and nodded slowly. He chuckled under his breath and looked at me.
"What?"
"I knew you liked him the first time I saw you look at him."
He said. I gasped and blushed.
"H-How did you know?"
He rubbed my hair.
"Because I know how you think and feel, you brat."
I giggled and pushed him away.
"Whatever, just don't tell him I like him. I think I'm going to tend to his wounds now."
I laughed as he just smirked at me. Eren was waiting in one of the bedrooms and I came in. Eren looked at me and then looked away. I ran to him and gave him a tight hug, making sure that I didn't hurt him. He hesitantly hugged me back.
"I-I'm so sorry I did that. But it was the only way that we could save you. I…."
He stopped me and lifted my chin.
"It's okay, I get it. You don't have to apologize."
He said as he gave me a more caring hug. His embrace warmed my heart and made my face red. I missed that warmth he gave me. I lifted myself up and got some medical tissue to heal him up.
"Here."
I said as I lightly rubbed his tanned cheeks with the tissue. He winced every time I touched him and I looked at him sadly,
"Does it hurt?"
"Y-Yeah…"
I was about to apologize again but Hanji interrupted me.
"Yeah!? Describe it to me!"
She said as she came in. Eren looked at her like she was crazy….which she was. Commander Smith and Levi followed her and apologized to him as well.
"But all assured, welcome to the team."
He said as they shook hands. Levi suddenly sat next to him.
"So Eren, you don't hate me now do you?"
Eren crossed his arms.
"No. I can see what you two did was necessary."
I laughed.
"Still I think we went too far. I mean you did knock his tooth out."
I said. Hanji gasped and pulled out a tiny blanket.
"Speaking of which!"
She unfolded it to reveal his tooth. I screamed and fell back.
"Oh shit that's disgusting! Get it away from me!"
Yeah I don't like anything to do with dentistry or pulled teeth. It seriously grosses me out.
"Hey Eren, let me take a look inside that mouth of yours."
She said. Eren sighed and opened his mouth wide. I smiled as I looked at his teeth. They were all straight and neat and none were displaced….Wait a minute, none were displaced!?
"Eren….Your tooth…..It grew back…."
And that is the end of the chapter! Phew, I'm exhausted. Yeah it was kind of a painful chapter but that was the whole episode so it's all good! And I have good news. If I get more reviews, then I will make her confess her love in the next two chapters! You know, while they're cleaning and all of that.
