Kathy looked back where witch and mount were barely managing a trot. Vivi, who had swaggered through the ranch minutes before, now trembled like she was riding a T-Rex rather than a horse.

"It looks like Israfel likes you."

Just then, Israfel whinnied and kicked his rear hooves, shooting the witch up like a spring. Kathy might have felt sympathy-if the witch hadn't trash-talked her horse and made her sick with vertigo if she so dared to look at a broom.

"Where's that can-do attitude?"

"I'll show you attitude, right when I hex your ponytail fuchsia..."
