Last time:
"The Dream Eater thing. How does it work? You say it's a recipe. Do you... cook up ingredients like a cook would do or is it something else entirely?"
As happy as she was that Allen would want to know, they were still on a mission. "Um... We still have to get to the temple."
"I know. But we still have plenty of time. And from what happened earlier, if everyone else is completely separated, I'd say we have more than enough time. Not only that, but there's also the situation with the war. From the looks of it, we're right in the middle of it. And with it..."
"Lots of your Shandians getting really hurt. Or worse," Xion added, looking over to the two Shandians on the ground.
Allen looked back at them, the calm look on his place replaced with a sad one. He walked over to them and took a look at their wounds. He let out a relieved sigh. "They're alive, but barely."
Xion called back Desert Nakama. "I'll help heal them up. I'm not Chopper-kun, but I do have healing magic."
Hearing that brought back the smile. "Please!"
After helping the fallen Shandians with their injuries, Xion and Allen continued on to the shrine. As they walked, they heard the sound of explosions nearby. For some reason, Xion flinched and stopped walking, much to her companion's confusion.
"What's wrong?" he asked.
"I just... have a horrible feeling right now," she answered.
'Why do I feel like someone important to me is in grave danger?' Xion then wondered.
*MEANWHILE*
With Chopper, he found himself in the middle of a small war zone between the Shandians and the Divine Soldiers. How did he get himself in that situation? Well, he was chased by some of the soldiers and almost ran into the Shandians. The second the two parties locked eyes with each other, it became an all-out fight between them, with Chopper trying to escape and not die.
"AAAAAHHHHHHHHH! I SHOULD NEVER HAVE COME!" he cried out.
*MEANWHILE, WITH ROBIN, GUTHRIE, AND CHIRITHY*
The two of them continued straight southward. The walk was quiet for a time, until they heard explosions and a scream.
"The forest has become quite lively," Robin noted.
"No kidding," Guthrie agreed.
Chirithy, who recovered from the earlier fright, noticed a nearby ruin. "What is that? A ruin?" he asked.
"This is a house away from the city," Robin answered.
"Man, this forest really did a number on it when time passed," Guthrie stated.
"I wonder if the ruins of the actual city are intact."
Just as she said that, a pair of Divine Soldiers appeared. One of them landed on the roof of the ruined house.
"A woman? A boy? And a cat?!" one of the two asked.
"This route leads to God's Shrine! Going any further would be insolent!" the other said.
Before Guthrie could say anything, Robin shouted, "Get down from there! You don't seem to realize the historical value these ruins have!"
"Is she lecturing him?!" Chirithy questioned in a panicked tone.
"How impudent!" shouted the Divine Soldier on the ruin.
"Do you have business with us? What do you want?" Robin then questioned the two enemies.
"Simple! By god's orders, we, Divine Soldiers, are to chop the Shandians and you Blue Sea people into pieces with this Axe Dial!"
"Prepare yourselves!" followed the other Divine Soldier.
Guthrie just sighed, as Robin calmly said, "Seis Fleur: Twist." Arms appeared on one man and grabbed hold of him. Next the two goat-looking people knew, the victim was twisted and bent in ways normal people wouldn't be, with cracking sounds heard.
"Damn you, woman!" the remaining soldier shouted, charging at Robin. Suddenly, Guthrie got in his path and dashed past him, Keyblade in hand. Next the man knew, he fell to the ground, unconscious.
"Stay down, will ya?" he simply said.
Robin picked up a fallen piece of the ruin. "Just awful," she said.
Chirithy, on the other hand, sweatdropped at the duo with him. 'What the hell?! Those two are monsters to just take down their enemies like that!' he thought. 'Well, it's not surprising for Guthrie, but still! That was too fast!'
"I wonder how the others are faring," the male Keyblade wielder spoke.
*BACK WITH XION AND ALLEN*
Unlike the others in the search party, who were either fighting some Shandian, Divine Soldiers or have yet to meet trouble, the female Keyblade wielder and the dancer were unfortunate enough to be surrounded by Heartless.
"Just where did these guys come from?!" Xion rhetorically asked, destroying a couple of Dire Plants.
"That's what I used to ask when I helped you on missions!" Allen answered, avoiding some Powerwilds and destroying them with his Impact or Flame Dial.
After seeing that their current skill and manpower weren't enough, Xion then said, "Time to see what these new recruits can do." She took out three cards from her pocket. "Summon: Electricorn, Thunderaffe, Pegaslick!"
Appearing from the three cards were three new Dream Eaters. One was a purple unicorn with blue underside and hooves with a yellow spike coming out of each hoof. It had dark blue mane and tail with green-to-yellow highlights and its lightning-shaped horn was light blue with yellow highlights. One was a yellow giraffe with heart-shaped spots, four purple and yellow horns on its head, two similar, shorter horns in the middle, light blue wings on top of its legs and hooves, purple air-whooshed tail, and a green necklace with a big purple to blue diamond attached to the middle of its neck. The third and last Dream Eater was a colorful pegasus. Its wings weren't quite attached to the body, its tail was shaped like a wing, and its hooves had smaller wings placed near them. The unicorn and the pegasus had Dream Eater sigils on their chest while the giraffe had one on its head.
"Idaten, help Allen! Lightning, Pegasus! Get as much charge up as much as possible! Reflectga!" Xion ordered her new Dream Eaters, putting up a barrier around herself and two of the three new creatures.
The three got to work on their orders. Idaten the Thunderaffe headbutted an Aerial Battler away from Allen, while Lightning the Electricorn and Pegasus the Pegaslick both slowly gathered electricity or air around them within Xion's barrier.
"When I tell you to, Pegasus, get the enemies in the sky. Lightning, ground enemies behind me. Got it?!" she asked. Both horse Dream Eaters made cries in agreement. Once she heard their confirmation, Xion concentrated on the enemies around them. Idaten was doing a good job having Allen's back so far, and the Shandian himself was doing the same for the Dream Eater. When she saw that the Heartless were in a grouped enough, she gave the signal. "Now!"
The moment she shouted that and let down her barrier, Pegasus and Lightning shot themselves towards their targeted enemies. Both rushed past the Heartless, the shockwave blowing them all back and causing them to dissipate. With Xion, she had the enemies in front of her locked on and unleashed a Meteor Shower on them all, shooting each and every Heartless down. As for Allen and Idaten, the latter unleashed a beam attack from its diamond while Allen did a breakdance, spraying out some cloud from the Milky Dial on his skates. He then took out his Lightning-Dial-equipped sword and stuck it in the cloud. One press and the Heartless stuck in the white substance were electrocuted, as black substance were seem seeping out of the cloud.
"Looks like that's all of them," Allen said, looking around and saw that there were no other Heartless left.
"Seems like it," Xion nodded in agreement. To her new allies, she then said, "You guys did awesome! Take a nice break." With a nod from the Dream Eaters, they went back into their cards.
Allen couldn't help but still be amazed at how easy it was for Xion to call back her Dream Eaters. Why say that? Well, the two recipes he gave her weren't just found; he fought for them. He heard a voice saying something about having to prove himself and go through some challenges to get those. Challenges that included Nightmare Dream Eaters. So yeah, he didn't have that good of a history with them and freaked out a bit after Xion created the trio of newbies. BUT, after a quick explanation about the difference between her Spirits and the Nightmares he fought, explanations which were explained to her by Chirithy earllier, he had let bygones be bygones.
"I hope the others aren't running into them," he heard her say.
"Who?" he asked.
"The Heartless, of course. As strong as my crew is, against the Heartless, it'll be difficult for them. I'm sure Guthrie will be fine. Luffy, Zoro and Sanji too. As for everyone else... Well, Robin might be okay, actually. But as for Nami, Usopp and Chopper-kun... I know Nami and Usopp are with Sanji and the Sky Knight, but who knows how many Heartless will be surrounding the Merry while they're sailing. Although, those two are actually good at fighting if they push their fear out of their minds. But Chopper-kun..."
Seeing how worried she was about her ship mates made Allen sweat drop a little, for she was a little too protective compared to how he remembered her. ...Actually, last he checked, she wasn't this overprotective.
"Hey, hey, hey," he spoke up, interrupting her muttering. "It'll be okay. If those guys can survive an attack from a priest, I'm sure they'll be okay until we see them at the altar. Don't worry about them." Xion didn't seem to be that convinced. "Look, I know I don't know your friends well enough, but what I do know is that if the ones you think are... kind of weak, can survive from your captain's antics that I've heard of before we left, then they can handle some Divine Soldiers that comes their way. I'm not sure about my guys, since I don't know if they will also engage in combat with them, but I trust your friends. Do you?"
Xion took several seconds to register his words. A small smile formed on her face as she looked up at him. "How is it that when you say it like that, I can just... agree with what you said? If it was anyone else, I might still be worrying about them. And yet, I can just trust you."
"Might be the old you subconsciously telling the current you to believe me," Allen joked.
The Keyblade wielder held back a small giggle at the joke, which may be a fact. He was her friend before she lost her memories. That might be why she can believe him.
"Although, even if they are a part of our crew, I still don't know much about Robin and Guthrie. I know they're both strong, but... Can't really say much about trusting them," Xion then said.
"I think I understand Guthrie, but why Robin?" Allen asked.
"She was an enemy before she joined us. Despite the time together, I'm not so sure if I can completely trust her just yet."
"But you kind of trust her, right?"
"Kind of. I mean, I have been seeing her as a friend lately, but I still don't know about her."
"Well, I'm sure that in time, you'll come to put some trust in her."
*BACK WITH GUTHRIE, CHIRITHY AND ROBIN*
"Achoo!" The archeologist let out a small sneeze as they continued to walk through the forest and saw more ruins. During their walk, Robin took out a book from her bag, looking up on any history of the sky half of Jaya.
"That was quite a sneeze," Guthrie said. "Are you okay?"
"Yes. I'm okay," she assured.
The trio waded themselves through the watery clouds as the archeologist led them to a stone monument, leaning backwards on a huge tree branch.
"She's completely sunk her nose back into that book," Chirithy muttered.
"Quiet," Guthrie hushed his spirit, then to Robin. "What've you figured out about these ruins?"
"It seems to be a memorial to the city, itself," Robin muttered, stopping in front of the monument and looking up from her book. "It's descendants built it, after the city fell. Shandra. That was the name of this ancient place."
"Shandra?" Guthrie echoed.
"I've never heard of such a place," Chirithy muttered. He then looked down in wonder. 'Or have I? I can't quite remember.'
"402 S.E. The city was at its peak 1,100 years ago," Robin continued, brushing her hand on the monument. "But then it toppled around 800 years ago."
As birds flew into the sky above them. Guthrie and Chirithy were both questioning on how Robin was able to decipher all these facts so easily.
"That timeframe almost perfectly matches the hundred years of history that vanished from the rest of the world," Robin realized. "Perhaps this island holds the key. The key to a long-forgotten history that was veiled from the world below."
"There's a century long gap in your world's history?" Guthrie asked. "How in the world could something that extensive just vanish without any records of it?"
"That's a question I would like to figure out. In our world, that gap is also known as the Void Century, and it took place around 800 years ago. No one knows for sure what happened within that time. But what we do know is that after that century gap, the World Government was built."
"The World Government? Is that a political group in your world?"
"Yes. They came into power after the Void Century, although no one knows how. However, one of the keys to solving that mystery might lie in these ruins." She led their gaze back to the monument. "This is a complete map of Shandra. Perhaps we'll find out more about the Void Century if we head to the center of this city."
"You sound determined to find out more about this gap," Chirithy pointed out. "Is it that important?"
"It is," Robin answered calmly. "It has been my dream to discover the truth behind it, and why it was hidden from the world."
Guthrie examined the map carefully. With all the moss and vines in the way, it was quite difficult to interpret it. However, he did his best to memorize it, while Robin wrote it down in her journal. He wanted to help her out in some way.
SNAP!
A tree branch broke behind them.
"Who's there?!" Robin demanded as they all turned.
Standing behind them on the stone ground was a man twice the size of Guthrie and incredibly obese. He had black wavy hair, thick lips a triple chin based on the wrinkles, but no visible neck. He had on a large toga, a winding sash, gold bracelets on his wrists, and wings on his back.
"Well, don't you have a beautiful young lady amongst your group," he noticed.
"Who's the oversized spud with hair?!" Chirithy questioned as he dove behind Robin's legs.
"He must be one of Enel's men," Guthrie assumed, stepping in front of Robin. "Are you a priest, or some underling of Enel's, like those goat guys?"
"You had better watch your mouth, child. I am Yama, Divine Commander in the service of God Enel, himself!" the man introduced himself.
"And what exactly do you want from us, Divine Commander Yama?" Robin asked, her hair shadowing her eyes.
"I don't want to talk." Yama made a battle roar as he raised his fist high, prepared to fight.
Guthrie summoned his Keyblade, sensing the danger this man possessed.
"He's definitely someone we shouldn't trifle with," Chirithy muttered.
'Even so, I have to be careful,' Guthrie reminded himself of Robin's dislike for the ruins being damaged. 'I need to make sure I don't damage the ruins about here. Kind of a hard challenge, since they're everywhere!' Suddenly, Yama pounced towards Guthrie, attempting a body slam. 'So fast!' Guthrie thought, as he barely leapt away from him.
Yama landed on his feet, his eyes shifting behind him to Robin, who felt his gaze. She leapt away from the monument as Chirithy raced off in a panicked cry. Yama dove after her, unleashing a fist that easily broke the stone ground beneath Robin's feet.
As she kept doubling back, Guthrie came from behind Yama, pulling back his Keyblade and swung. Yama turned and grabbed the end of his Keyblade, stopping him using his own body weight and strength.
"Aw crap!" Guthrie cried out.
Yama grinned as he swung Guthrie around as he held onto his Keyblade, then threw him towards a ruined house, smashing him through the rocks.
"Guthrie!" Chirithy cried.
Robin was shocked by the enemy's strength and the fact that more ruins were being damaged. She heard Yama's war cry and turned to see him come in with a pulled back fist. She leapt out of the way as he easily smashed his fist through a slab of ancient writing behind her.
Chirithy tumbled away, rolling out of control until he hit the wall nearby, fortunately not damaging it due to his lack of weight.
Robin landed on the ground near where Guthrie was as he resurfaced from the ruined house. "Crap. I didn't expect that," he groaned. Looking back at the house, he realized what happened. "Robin, I'm sorry!" he cried out. "He threw me in, and I..."
The mature pirate wasn't listening. She knew he wasn't at fault. "You big oaf!" she barked at Yama. "Can't you see you're destroying valuable artifacts?!"
Yama laughed at this statement. "You should probably consider yourself with preserving your own life, instead of this crumbling heap of rubble."
'I gotta slow him down!' Guthrie hastily thought, as he charged in. "Ice Dash!"
Yama pushed himself off the stone ground, which crumbled at the force, and roared, "Punch Perfect Score!" The Keyblade and fist collided. The even blow created a shockwave that slightly quaked the ground beneath them, causing cracks to form.
"Guthrie, you can't destroy the ruins!" Robin begged him.
Guthrie heard her plea and accidentally eased up his attack, causing Yama to let loose his other fist, sending him flying into the tree right behind Robin.
Yama's fist was encased in ice, but he didn't care. He started to swing both fists at Robin, who kept backing off, until her back hit a stone slab of ancient writing. "Oh, no!" she gasped, turning back to see Yama's frozen fist hit her hard, breaking the ice sending her toppling through the collapsing stone.
Guthrie struggled to get back up again as he saw Robing collapsed on the ground, her arms and face covered in scrapes and bruises. "Robin!" he gasped.
The archeologist raised herself up again as Yama sinisterly grinned down at the two of them. "Stop this, you fool..." she moaned.
"Heal!" Guthrie raised his Keyblade, unleashing a Cura spell upon the both of them, removing most of the injuries they gained.
Yama was surprised by the sudden healing. "How?!"
"Sorry, Robin," Guthrie moaned, rising to his feet again. "I didn't mean to damage any of the ruins. I'll try to be careful, from now on."
"Please do," Robin responded, rising to her feet as well. "We must preserve the history of these ruins at all cost."
Yama laughed at this declaration. "If 'by any cost' you mean your lives, then I'll happily take that from you!" he gloated. "Or rather... WE will happily take your lives!"
All of a sudden, as soon as he said that, Heartless appeared around them.
"Heartless?!" Guthrie gasped in shock.
"This has gotten more troublesome..." Robin stated, gritting her teeth.
The two of them got into defensive stances, ready to protect the ruins.
Chirithy hopped on top of some ruins, watching the two face the monstrous man and Heartless, which consisted of Air Soldiers, Yellow Opera, and Tornado Step. 'Dang it, Guthrie! When I said I wanted you to be a guardian, I meant for Xion, not these ruins!' he thought to himself. 'You have to fight back! Take them out!'
Guthrie adjusted his grip on his Keyblade as Yama roared as he charged at the two once more.
*RETURNING TO XION AND ALLEN*
As they continued down their path, Xion stopped all of a sudden, getting some odd chills up her spine.
"Is there something wrong?" Allen asked.
"I just... have this odd feeling... Like one of my nightmares and worries came to be," she answered.
"You sure it's not just you?"
"I don't know. I hope so." The two took a few more steps forward when they heard something land behind them, followed by a low growl, causing them both to stop. "Tell me that's just an animal that lives here," Xion begged, not wanting to face another Heartless at the moment.
"Wish I could, but I don't know any big ones with that growl," Allen answered.
"So you mean..."
"Yep."
"You're kidding."
"I wish."
The two slowly turned and were face to face with a Tailbunker and some airborne Wyverns, all who roared at them.
"Oh come on!" Xion cried out, as they prepared themselves for another fight.
The Tailbunker let out another roar, making the Wyverns all charge at them. Xion used an Aeroga spell to blow some back while Allen used his Flame Dial to scare some away.
"We can't take them like this!" the Shandian told her.
"I know! I'm bringing some aerial backup!" the Keyblade wielder said, taking out some Dream Eater cards. "Now Summon: Ryu Dragon, Komory Bat, Peepsta Hoo, Electricorn, Pegaslick!" The five Dream Eaters she called out were summoned onto their field. "Get on one!"
Allen nodded as he got on Pegasus while Xion rode Wyvern. With their weapons drawn, they and the other Dream Eaters charged at the Heartless.
A few Wyverns rushed in for a ramming attack at the humans. Wyvern, the Dream Eater one, breathed out flames from his mouth at one Heartless Wyvern, ceasing its rush. Xion tossed her Keyblade with a Thunder Raid at another coming Wyvern, knocking it off course. Pegasus used a Spark magic to knock down another attacking Wyvern, also knocking it off course. Allen saw another one of the Wyvern coming at them from behind and scooted back to the Pegaslick's rear end. He thrusted his palm out, the one with the Impact Dial, and absorbed all the shockwave of the Heartless' attack into it.
"Thanks for the power," Allen said. "You can have it back! Impact!" Pressing his hand against the Heartless' head, it was blown away by the brute force that was absorbed. While the force wasn't enough to destroy it, it did a lot of heavy damage to the monster, weakening it to the point that it wasn't able to fly.
Gunma scanned each Heartless, looking for a weakness before attacking any of them. One of the Wyverns went for a corkscrew dive at the distracted Dream Eater. Fortunately for the Peepsta Hoo, it finished scanning in time to avoid the sneak attack and struck it with its Thunder magic, paralyzing it and making it crash into the ground. Fang used its supersonics to confuse some nearby Heartless and getting the jump on them with a Double Cutter. Lightning stored up some electric energy and, when charged enough, struck down its opponents with an Ikazuchi Prime.
Seeing that there were too many Wyverns, Allen turned to Xion and suggested, "Hey! Think you can do that Meteor shots thing on them?! There's too many of them for us to attack individually!"
"I don't think that's going to be enough either!" Xion shouted back. "But I can do..." She took out a pair of Dream Eater cards and leapt off of Wyvern, much to Allen's shock.
"Wait, Xion! What are you-?!"
"Dual Link!" Her two cards glowed and shot out lights, both that were fused into her. "Rising Wing!" A pair of small wings appeared on her back and her body was surrounded by a bright blue aura. Xion soared into the sky, striking each Wyvern Heartless down with sweeps and blitz.
A small, impressed smile formed on Allen's face as he clicked the apex of the other side of his headphones, playing another song.

Allen himself jumped off Pegasus and on the back of one Wyvern. He jabbed his lightning sword into its back, shocking it and damaging it heavily. Before it dissipated, he managed to get on the back of another Wyvern, which was making its way to one of Xion's Dream Eaters. He managed to drive it into its comrades. Once they were close enough, he cut its back and shocked it and jumped onto each of the other Wyvern's, cutting and electrocuting them as well. When he was done with the last Wyvern in that small group, he somehow got himself on Lightning's back. Said Dream Eater looked behind him, a bit surprised by the sudden landing.
"Sorry about that," Allen apologized.

The Shandian looked up and saw Fang and Gunma having a bit of trouble with some of their Wyverns. "Let's help them out!"
Lightning neighed in agreement and dashed(?) toward the group at full speed.
When they were close enough, Allen shouted, "Use that lightning of yours'!" Without question, the Electricorn did as told and fired a Thunder magic, striking a couple of the nearby Heartless. Before they fell, Allen jumped off Lightning and used the struck Heartless as stepping stools to get above the crowd. He pushed his Flame-Dial-equipped arm out and burned some of the Heartless near the small Dream Eaters.
Fang and Gunma took advantage of the confusion and struck back with a Vampire Strike and Feather Shuriken respectively. The two attacks hit and defeated a couple more Heartless. Lightning knocked the rest of the Heartless in the group away with a lightning-charged Horn Rush and somehow caught Allen, having the guy land on its back.

The dancing Shandian looked up and saw some Wyverns focusing on them this time, rushing over to the two.
"Charge up some more lightning. I need some," he requested his ride.
Lightning charged up some electricity, sparks of it surrounding its body. When he saw that, Allen removed the Lightning Dial from its place and had it absorbed some of the electric charge while tying his sword to Lightning's horn.
"Don't engage in combat; rush pass them!" he instructed. And rush it did. Not to attack the Heartless, but to go past the horde like Allen told it to.

Just as Lightning was about to pass one of the Wyverns, Allen jumped off him and got on the Heartless. He waited until Lightning passed all of them and lifted the Lightning Dial. One press of the apex, and all the electricity stored was shot out and struck all the Heartless behind him, making its way to the Electricorn. Normally electricity would harm creatures, but due to Lightning being... well, lightning, the hit didn't do much damage to him. If anything, it just helped charge him up even more. Feeling the great boost in power, Lightning struck and cut down all the other Heartless around him with the sword attached to his horn.
Allen landed on the back of Xion's Wyvern, as the two charged to take down the rest of the Heartless dragons. The two unleashed a combo of flames, burning and blinding the group. While they were distracted by the flames, Allen leapt from the Ryu Dragon's back and kicked them all down.
As soon as the song ended and Allen landed back on Wyvern, he looked down at where the Heartless were and saw that they were each dissipating or fading away, too beaten to continue. This made him sigh in relief, knowing that they can rest easy.
"Gah!" Until he heard Xion's cry in pain. He looked up and saw her still facing off against the Tailbunker Heartless. He mentally cursed himself when he realized that he forgot about it.
"Xion!" He guided the Pegaslick over to her. As he did so, the other Dream Eaters also charged in to defend and assist their master.
"Don't worry about me!" she shouted, causing them all to stop. "This fight is over! Chaos Snake!" From Xion's Keyblade came many projectiles, zigzagging their way to the Tailbunker. It tried to deflect each one, but with the shots zigzagging the way they were, it was impossible for it to predict where the shots would strike it. Eventually, all the shots struck home and the last one destroyed it completely.
After that last hit struck, Xion's link had some timing, to break it off and leave her and her selected Dream Eaters, Torpedo and Gamble, in mid air. While the non-flying Dream Eaters didn't seem to mind that much about the sudden cancel, the Keyblade wielder was a bit...
"AAAHHHHHH!" Yeah... The usual reaction for anyone who can't fly or not die.
Allen jumped off Pegasus and used his skates to get to Xion, while Fang and Gunma both went and caught Torpedo and Gamble. The Shandian caught her and managed to make a safe landing on the ground.
"Are you okay?!" he asked her in a concerned tone.
"Y-Yeah... Thanks for that," she answered. "I thought I was going to die."
Allen slightly looked away when she said that. 'If that was her reaction from a small fall, I don't want to know of her reaction when she finds out about how to leave Sky Island form here,' he thought.
"Um... Allen," Xion called. "Y-You can... put me down now..."
"Huh?" The guy looked and just noticed that he was carrying Xion... bridal style. "Oh! Sorry about that!" He let her down.
"It's fine. Really." Despite the answer, Xion looked away from him, her face heated up again and something in her chest pounding once more.
'A-Again?' she thought. 'What's going on here?'
*BACK TO THE OTHER FIGHT*
Robin and Guthrie were wearing down from fighting the Heartless, while Yama showed no signs of stopping, even attacking them while they were distracted. Despite all their best efforts, neither one of them could stop Yama from destroying the ruins about him. And because they didn't want to destroy the ruins, either, both Robin and Guthrie were holding back their strength, which made it tough. And despite all the healing from Guthrie, they were both exhausted and still injured. On the bright side, they managed to defeat all the Heartless in the area.
"Well, it seems all your talk doesn't amount to much," Yama muttered, as he leapt forward. "Stomach Mountain!" Guthrie and Robin stumbled away from the attack, nearly getting crushed just like the stone ground as the massive man hit it.
"Guthrie, fight back!" Chirithy cried out. "Use your skills! Your magic!"
"I can't," he responded. "I might damage the ruins around here if I use any of my attacks!"
"We need to protect as much as possible from this stubborn fool!" Robin added as they were hastily backing off from the oncoming Yama, who went into a leaping kick.
Suddenly, their backs hit a wall and they turned to see another monument like the one before.
"A runic statue!" Robin gasped.
Guthrie's instincts went into action. "Brace me!" He got in front of her as he held his Keyblade in both hands, going into a defensive stance.
"Diez Fluer!" Robin cried out, as ten hands were summoned from her arms, holding Guthrie from behind.
Yama's foot made impact with the stem of the Keyblade, his weight pressuring down onto the both of them as they used all their strength to hold back. They managed to push him back, but Robin fell backwards, grimacing in pain, while Guthrie collapsed to his knees, his Keyblade fell out of his hands.
"Guthrie!" Chirithy cried out to his master.
The said Keyblade wielder panted as he looked back at Robin and the statue. Robin was worn down, but the statue was unscathed.
"How long are you going to insist on protecting this withered, good-for-nothing, old city?" Yama questioned the two.
Robin regained herself once more. "Indefinitely," she answered, looking at Yama. "Why must you disrespect what our ancestors... had held so sacred?"
"She... has a point." Guthrie asked, rising to his feet. "These ruins are important to not only Robin, but to any historian wanting to learn about this land's past. And you're just destroying it."
Chirithy was surprised at this statement of Guthrie's.
"The past has nothing to do with me, so why should I care?" Yama questioned ignorantly.
"That doesn't surprise me," Robin scoffed. "Only the foolish say such things."
Guthrie looked back at her, then heard Yama's growl. He turned to see his face contort into snarling anger.
'Why are you aggravating him?!' Chirithy wondered in shock. 'He's already pissed off as it is!'
"HOW DARE YOU INSULT SOMEONE SO POWERFUL!" he roared. "Punch Mountain!" He slammed his fist straight at Robin and Guthrie, who backed off as quickly as they could.
"We need to get away from the ruins!" Guthrie told Robin. "We can't fight here!"
"Agreed. We can't let this simpleton destroy any more of them!" she responded.
"Wait for me!" Chirithy cried, leaping after the two.
The trio raced as fast as they could through the ruins, while Yama was recklessly destroying all the ruins about him with his fists and body weight. He was fast, but the two were faster and more nimble. The male of the group looked back at the charging enemy, who just kept destroying everything in order to get to them. He then looked to Robin, who was recalling everything she had been through in the ancient catacombs of Alabasta.
'Back then, I believed my quest had been lost,' Robin thought to herself. 'My dreams had been buried with the underground temple of Alabasta. Having lost everything, I chose to travel with Luffy. But these ruins could hold the key to unspoken history that had been lost to the world below!'
Guthrie saw Yama strike a piece of midair rubble towards a statue near the two, causing it to break apart. Robin was petrified at the sight of more destroyed ruins.
"Keep moving!" Guthrie called out, as he grabbed Robin's hand and pulled her along with him towards the end of the ruins.
"How long do you plan on running?!" Yama roared, continuing his rampage.
"He's not gonna let up!" Chirithy cried out in panic. "Guthrie, what do we do?!"
One of the few times Chirithy hadn't had the answer to in the situation, and Guthrie was doing all he could; getting himself and Robin away from the ruins.
'Back in Jaya, I kept wondering why I was brought here,' Guthrie thought to himself. 'I was told that I was given a mission, but I had no absolute influence to take it. I wondered why in the world was I chosen to take part in all of this! But when I got to know these pirates Xion joined, I started to realize something; these pirates were good, kind, full of laughter and joy. They were eager for adventure, but they had morals that proved them better than most other pirates. I joined them because they had something I wanted; a chance to regain my happiness again.'
He looked back at Robin, whose face was filled enduring grief. Behind her were the sights and sounds of crumbling ruins, destroyed pieces of the past thanks to Yama and his rampaging charge at the two. He could feel Robin's hand tighten in his. The sight of Robin's face was so painful to see, and Guthrie's heart ached at her suffering. He looked ahead, seeing the area clear up and the forest give way to some open space. His eyes were set and his teeth clenched.
'I've had enough of this!' he mentally growled.
The two stopped and turned to see Yama knock over a tree, stopping once he saw the two halt. Guthrie let go of Robin's hand, while Chirithy was panting in exhaustion from all the running and keeled over next to the two. Guthrie's eyes were shadowed, while Robin was ready to fight.
"I don't understand. You finally decided to face me?" the divine commander questioned.
"Yes," Robin answered, as the two dropped their bags on the ground. "It's too late for you."
Hearing that confused Yama, wondering what she meant. "Too late?"
"Even if you choose to repent, I won't forgive you." Robin removed her hat. "Oh, you won't forgive me. I see," Yama scoffed. "All because of these shabby old ruins you adore. A pile of rubble that doesn't even belong to you."
"You shut up," Guthrie snapped, summoning his Keyblade back into his hands and gripping it tightly. "Do you have any idea what sins you committed? Three of them." Robin looked as Guthrie stepped towards Yama. "The first sin is that you destroyed historical artifacts. The second sin is that you caused Robin to suffer from your actions. And the third..." He raised his head, and Yama could see the sheer rage on his face. "... Is you made me incredibly angry!"
"Is that so?" Yam questioned with a smirk. "Well, I'd say you talk too much. But don't worry, cause in a few short moments, you won't have to talk ever again, because you're going to be crushed to death underneath me! Drop Mountain!" He shot into the air, spinning like a ball as he dove at Guthrie.
"You're the one who's going to never talk again!" Guthrie roared, shooting himself up into the air at the divine commander. "I'm SO not gonna hold back! Sonic Blade!" His body glowed as he shot forward in the air, shooting right at Yama and striking him to one side so hard, he stopped spinning. Guthrie's eyes were livid as he slashed at him several more time with his technique, damaging him heavily, and causing him to drop.
"I, too, can unleash all of my power in this place!" Robin cried out, crossing her hands. "Treinta Fluer!" Thirty hands appeared on the vines near the falling Yama and grabbed him by the feet. "All you do is charge around like a clumsy bull, with no regard for the weight of the history you destroyed! Hang!" The swing of her arms sent Yama slamming straight into the side of the tree, face first. Unfortunately, the weight of the man was strenuous on her arms, so she let go of him and he fell to the ground head first.
Yama raised himself up and saw Robin's blurred figure away from him. As he started to regain himself, he heard a roar and looked up in time to see Guthrie dive down with his Keyblade in front of him, making impact with Yama's body and causing an explosion of earth to fly about. Guthrie pushed himself backwards from him and landed on the ground, glaring at the damage he done.
Yama got back up, roaring in rage as he shot at Guthrie. "I'll crush you! Punch Mountain!" He flipped towards Guthrie, aiming a fist at him. Guthrie's eyes flashed and he whacked Yama's fist out of the way before it made contact. Yama was shocked by this deflection and was met by a roundhouse kick to the face from Guthrie, sent tumbling away.
Guthrie didn't stop there and charged at Yama as he flipped onto his feet again skidding a halt. "Strike Raid!" Guthrie roared, sending his Keyblade spinning at Yama, striking Yama like a buzzsaw blade and causing him to be pushed back. Guthrie used the opportunity to leap to one of the raised grounds on the side of the enemy, pushed himself off of it, and come from behind Yama, calling back his Keyblade. He gritted his teeth as he slammed the Keyblade in the back of his head, causing him to fall face-first into the ground, causing the rubble of the ground to fly.
Robin and Chirithy were amazed at the sudden change in Guthrie's strength as he continuously kept striking him hard from every side.
"Incredible," Chirithy gasped. "His strength improved so dramatically the moment he got enraged."
"But I thought the rage of a Keyblade wielder was darkness?" Robin questioned. "He doesn't seem to be influenced by that power, yet he's still raging."
"That's because there are good intentions behind this anger," Chirithy pointed out. "He got angry because of your suffering. He cares about you so much, that he became so angry at that guy, who made you fall into despair in the first place. I may not remember who his ancestor was, but I knew that person was kind and caring to many, and when they were suffering, her rage to protect her friends allowed her to unleash strengths far beyond her natural. Guthrie's inherited that power!"
The raging Keyblade wielder sent a point-blank Aeroga spell at Yama, sending him flying into a tree, causing a crater to be formed on the wood by his body. Guthrie backed off, drawing closer to Robin.
"You wanna have a go at him?" he asked Robin, who nodded in agreement.
Yama struggled to get back up again, enraged at the Keyblade wielder. He started flipping towards him, bringing out a strip of cloth with ten axe dials on it. "I'll chop you to ribbon!" he roared. "Axe Mountain!"
Robin calmly waved her hand forward. Two hands appeared on the sides of his face, covering his eyes.
"My eyes! I can't see!" he cried out. While he was blinded, Robin's other hands flipping the axe dials around, aiming them at his body. Her arms disappeared and Yama saw what she had done. "Wait, what are you doing?! You turned them backwards! You're gonna kill me!"
"That's the point!" Guthrie retorted as Yama slammed into a tree. The axe dials activated, cutting him up all over his body and causing blood to fly. He fell with his face to the ground, moaning in pain.
Guthrie and Robin walked over next to his face and raised his head up by his hair, both with unforgiving glares.
"What you have carelessly destroyed were priceless treasures," Robin told him. "Relics so rare, that it would be impossible to measure their actual worth."
"You know the old saying 'history repeats itself'? Well that doesn't mean we can go back in time, no matter how much we want to," Guthrie followed. "What's past is past, and we must preserves certain parts of the past in order to use it for our future, something an asshole like you wouldn't understand."
"I... I understand..." Yama groaned. "Please... please, I'm sorry. Forgive me."
"Out of the question," the two responded simultaneously.
Yama got angry at this and regained himself as he grabbed ahold of Robin while Guthrie backed off. "In that case, I'll have to kill you, won't I?!" he roared, raising his other hand to Robin.
"Hands off her!" Guthrie roared, slamming his Keyblade on the arm holding Robin so hard, they could hear bones cracking from the impact.
"Gah! My arm!" he cried out, letting go of Robin as she fell to the ground. Guthrie then leapt up and slammed his Keyblade into his face, sending him falling onto his back.
"Cien Fluer: Delphinium!" Robin chanted, summoning a hundred arms along the ground towards the edge of the cliff nearby. They picked up the massive man and carried him spinning along the trail of arms, nearing the cliff.
Guthrie wasn't satisfied enough with this. He dashed forward, heading to Yama as he was just meters from the cliff. "You caused too much suffering and destruction for any sort of mercy!" he roared, raising his Keyblade to one side as he felt power surging through him. "Finish Command: Rising Rock!" He got in front of Yama as he fell over the edge, struck him three times with a spinning slash, raised his Keyblade high as it charged up with orange energy and slammed it hard on Yama's back. Yama shot down fast from the impact. A huge explosion of rubble was heard as he hit the ground. No matter how they looked at it, they could tell that he was down for the count, permanently.
"That was a new one," Robin muttered, seeing Guthrie stand at the edge of the cliff, looking down.
"That was the Finish Command!" Chirithy noted. "They're special techniques that can be used after a successful amount of attacking. There are multiple types of them, as well. I had no idea Guthrie could use them!"
Guthrie then noticed dark vapors rise up from the spot Yama landed and they seeped into the gem of his vambrace. "Not surprising he had darkness in his heart," he muttered, seeing all the vapor seep into the gem. There was a shine from it, and a silver medal popped out. Guthrie took it and examined it. "Spark Blast. A Thunder-element move. Might come in handy." He tapped the medallion of his Keychain, causing the ring of ability medals to appear. He was gonna swap out one for another, since he figured that was his limit. However, the medal entered the ring without any popping out, surprising him.
"Looks like your connecting with your Keyblade more," Chirithy stated, skipping to his side as Robin grabbed her hat and their bags, joining them. "I bet this little incident caused you to appreciate the Keyblade more and allowed you to connect with it. You can now use six attacks instead of five."
"Really?" Guthrie asked, tapping the medallion to returned the medals to the Keyblade again.
"Yeah. Although, you're still not there, yet," Chirithy answered. "But this is a great start. Not only can you use one more move, but you can also utilize your heart's emotions into strength, and even use Finish Commands. I told you were a gifted child!"
Guthrie raised the Keyblade to his face, then lowered it as he looked to Robin, who had a neutral expression. "Wish we thought of leaving the ruins sooner," he told her. "We could've saved a lot of history."
"At least we finished that oaf, once and for all," Robin responded.
"Yeah. He'll never damage another ruin again." Guthrie's eyes looked back at the edge of the cliff in disgust at the thought of their most recent opponent.
There was a moment's pause, then Guthrie looked down, slightly sad. "Sorry you had to see me enraged like that," he apologized.
"There's no need to apologize. I couldn't stand him, either," Robin replied. "Besides, your anger was just and he deserved to be defeated."
"Even so, I wish I hadn't gotten so enraged. I don't ever want to be consumed by it, nor the hatred and vengeance. Not like before."
Robin looked to him, surprised. "Before?"
Chirithy looked down, knowing what he was talking about. "... Once we find what you're looking for, I'll tell you everything about my past, okay?"
Robin nodded in understanding. Finding the center of Shandra was very important to her, considering it might be the key to unlocking the truth behind the Void Century. With the mission set, the trio walked back to the ruins again, hoping to find what Robin was looking for.
