Chapter 31
Sarah didn't let Jay out of her arms for hours after they returned Above, she knew her dad and Karen were waiting downstairs for an explanation of what had happened, not to mention the whole Toby being wished away to the Goblins when she was fifteen. But she wasn't sure she could handle it right at that moment so she was still hiding in her childhood bedroom.
"You'll have to face the music some time Sarah." Jareth pointed out the obvious from his place sitting by the window.
"Why? Have the moonlight and music, love and romance gone?" She couldn't help quoting, but received an unamused face in return. "I know that what I'm doing is hiding, Jareth. I just needed a little time. I can explain the original problem and even how I ended up pregnant. What happened in the courtroom is a whole other story."
"Sarah, you have your son back. He is safe now and so are you, that's all that matters for now."
"Am I though? With beings as powerful as the Labyrinth taking an interest in me?"
"They will protect you. I will protect you." He moved to her side and took them both into his arms. "And my nephew here."
Sarah rested her head on the Goblin Kings shoulders, knowing he'd take her burdens on them willingly.
"I will have to go back below very soon Sarah, I need to see my own parents, possibly go beat my brother into a bloody pulp." He was looking forward to that.
"Lets get this show on the road then."
"You were meant to get my son, Thalia! Not ensure that he would be yet another thing my brother's taken from me." Eric shouted at his wife through the bars of his cell in the dungeon. "Why do you always have to be so very useless?"
"You're calling me the useless one?" She screeched in reply her hands gesticulating wildly. "Your the one who spends all of his time swiving every human piece of ass he gets his hands on, if you had spent as much time with me as you did above you might have managed to get me pregnant some time in the last century rather than me having to accept a brat from a mortal who couldn't keep her legs together. Look what that bitch did to my face!" She gestured to the swollen side of her visage.
"Well if you weren't the worst lay I've even had then maybe I would visit your bed once in a while. You look better this way." He laughed.
Her scream of rage was heard throughout Avalon.
"I know it's difficult to take in but it's all true." Sarah knew Karen, practical, no imagination Karen, was having more than a little trouble with what she was trying to explain. Robert Williams had reluctantly accepted it all, but then again his mother had been a good Irish Catholic with all the superstitions inherent therein.
"But how could you just wish him away?" Karen wasn't taking the concept very well at all
Sarah sighed as they came back to this question. "Haven't you ever made a stupid wish that you had no idea would ever come true. 'I wish all her hair would fall out. I wish he'd drop dead. I wish that my night in shining armour would show up.' I was an angry and a bit fantasy obsessed so my wish involved goblins."
"So your son is actually half fae and now you're engaged to the Goblin King."
"Me and Jareth haven't quite figured out what we're gonna do yet." Sarah still wasn't sure what she was going to do about the Jareth situation but was glad he'd gone back so he couldn't hear this particular bit of the conversation. "But Jay is officially mine in both realms, they can't take him again."
"And Tania is really..."
"Titania wife of Oberon, High King and Queen of the Fae."
"And they're really Jareths..."
"Father and Step-Mother."
"I think I need to lie down."
Jareth was having almost as much fun with his own parents.
"Will the old ones come back now?" Oberon kept being asked by his slightly panicked people in his audience chamber.
Jareth decided to finally make his prescence known. "Are you sure they ever left, Lord Traner isn't it? Because we were always told they would watch over us." He appeared leaning against a pillar near the back of the large room his statement silencing the room.
"But they haven't interfered with the fae in..."
"A thousand or so years," Jareth continued for him, "yes every one keeps saying the same thing, it's getting very boring." Oberon didn't seem to object. "And it's still completely true they still haven't interfered with the fae, they stopped us from interfering with a mortal." Whispers were breaking out here and there.
"Your mortal if we are going to be completely accurate." Lord Traner was obviously the crowd appointed spokesperson of the moment.
"Soon to be my Queen if we are being totally accurate." More murmurs spread through the crowd.
"But what gives them a right to intervene in our justice."
"What gave the council the right to decide that they could punish me for a crime that didn't happen just because a mortal thwarted a spoilt brats whim."
"Princess Thalia had every right to claim her husbands child."
"Only until Sarah ran the Labyrinth for him but the spoilt brat I was talking about is our illustrious High Councillor, who couldn't bear to be proved wrong, though I'm sure Thalia will love that you called her a spoilt brat in front of all these people."
Lord Traner looked rather worried at that prospect and there were a few titters from the crowd.
"Why are you all so worried anyway? I'm sure you all have lead model lives, been the People that the Old Ones decided to bless and save from the spread of humanity all those years ago? Or do you know that you've done things that they wouldn't approve of? That the Old Ones are going to sweep in and take your power, your immortality and change the course of you boring, sycophantic, little lives?"
No one was meeting his eyes now.
"We're a lost cause according to them so you can all go back to your normal lives now. Go on, scurry off." To his surprise most did then leave the chamber, a small gesture from the High King cleared the rest of the room.
"I'd say thank you son for your assistance, if you hadn't just alienated most of the court." Oberon stepped down from his throne.
"They'll get over it eventually, in a hundred years they will have forgotten completely. Well except for Thalia, girl sure can hold a grudge. I just held a mirror up so they had to see their petty little lives as they should, unimportant in the divine scheme of things."
"Yes but they are much easy to deal with if they don't know that." He replied with a smile on his face. "Did you take Sarah home?"
"Yes, she's currently explaining everything to her parents."
"And did you resolve anything between yourselves?"
"Well we aren't fighting at the moment. Don't worry I'm sure Sarah will let you babysit again soon."
The drive back to her apartment passed quickly, Sarah knew that she could have called for Jareth to transport her but needed the time to think. She also knew as soon as she got in the door there was someone else in her home. She put her sleeping son into his crib and walked into her living room.
"Come out where I can see you."
"You haven't won you know!" Thalia appeared in the doorway.
"When are you going to grow up. A baby isn't a toy you can pick up because you think you want one."
"I know what a baby is!"
"But why do you want one so badly, your going to live for a very long time your biological clock isn't exactly running out just yet. Or are you trying to pull together a relationship that's already fallen apart." Thalia stayed silent. "Go home you're not in a position to win any battles today unless you want a black eye to go with the jaw." She disappeared very quickly after that.
Sarah waited another five minutes just to make sure that no one else was going to drop in and then took herself to bed. She was walking out of her on-suite after her shower when her next complication arrived.
"Jareth I don't have the energy for a fight right now."
He was lounging back against her pillows on her bed, "I'm not here to fight I just needed to make sure you are OK."
"I'm fine." Sarah replied going over to her closet to put her nightgown on. She gestured for Jareth to turn around before she dropped her towel and found his long, gloveless fingers massaging the stress out of her neck moments later. She couldn't quite hold back a moan when he found a particularly stubborn spot.
"Relax Precious." He breathed against her skin, pressing his lips to neck, inhaling her scent, his fingers now dipping below the top of the towel loosening it.
"Don't stop," she gasped as his sharp teeth lightly scraped over her skin.
"I don't think I can." He whispered as the towel fell to the floor and his hands snaked around her to gently palm her pregnancy swollen breasts.
Sarah found herself arching with the pleasure of his ministrations and her head dropped back against his shoulder. She felt nothing but bare skin so she assumed that he had dissolved his clothes. Her fingers moved restlessly against his flanks and she could feel his erection pressing between the cheeks of her bottom.
One of Jareths hands moved to caress the still small swell where their child rested and then carried on down to play with the curls at the junction of her thighs. His fingertips played over the small nub of flesh he found there. Sarah gasped at the sensations. "Shh, let it carry you away.
Somehow she was lying on the bed, Jareth over her his hands still roaming over her flesh. He pushed a finger into her now very wet centre, preparing her for him as his lips closed around one of her erect nipples. Sarah pulled his head so their lips could meet as her hips rose to meet his invasion.
The joint passion raged between them until they both tumbled over the precipice into orgasmic freefall. The Goblin King held his mortal in his arms until they fell asleep, still intertwined.
