Last time:
"Style Command: Thunderbolt!" Guthrie roared. He dove at the Darkside and unleashed series of combos, ending with a lunge that sent a surge of electricity at its face.
The Darkside stumbled backwards as Guthrie landed on the ground and performed a Sonic Blade, unleashing consecutive dashing thrusts that punctured the Heartless numerous times before coming to a position that had him in a straight line with the Heartless and the beanstalk.
He leapt up and charged up the last of his Style Commands power into a finishing move, unleashing a sphere filled with powerful electricity and shoving it above the heart-shaped hole of the Darkside. There was a massive surge of electricity that paralyzed the monster for a moment, before the last burst sent it flying off its feet, falling back into Giant Jack, and hitting it hard to cause the place to shake. Within moments of it hitting the beanstalk, it vanished into dark vapor and scattered into nothingness, while Guthrie's aura dissipated.
"REJECT!" With a single click, the blast from the dial became so powerful, it almost instantaneously shattered Allen's arms off, as the guy coughed out some blood in the process. However, this attack did the job well, for it blew a gaping hole through the Nobody and the beanstalk behind it, damaging both immensely.
Wyper, his pupils dilated in horror, witnessing his cousin falling backwards, his body almost lifeless. "That idiot!" he gasped. "He didn't have to go that far!"
"Allen!" a paled-eyed Aisa shouted in a panic, while the pirates were in shock as they witnessed the damage and the recoil done to the dancer.
"That fool! A Reject Dial!" Ganfall gasped, also petrified by the damage.
Allen barely held onto consciousness, and looked up to see the Twilight Thorn vanishing into nothingness and witness the damage done to the beanstalk. 'Now... fall Giant Jack. Give Xion and Luffy a path to the golden bell. Make the Fire of Shandora dance through the air, ringing into everyone's ears.'
His wishes came true. The damage that Allen did to Giant Jack was enough to make it start to fall towards Eneru's ship. They had succeeded in their mission.
"It's tipping!" the navigator informed, preparing the Jet Dial.
"Give it all you got!" the captain shouted.
Before they drove up, Nami confessed, "To tell you the truth, I've never tested the full speed of the Jet Dial. After all, it's so powerful, even I can't control it completely."
"No better time than the present then," Xion said. "Go for it! I'll even have Lapin back you up."
"Okay!" With that, Nami got the dial going at top speed, getting the waver to go up the stalk. As it went up, Lapin stopped healing Xion and went to the back, unleashing a strong fire magic, pushing the waver to go even faster.
As they rode up, the pirates saw the thunderclouds generating more electricity.
"Something's coming!" Nami shouted.
"We have to go... even faster!" The two pirates looked back and saw Xion raising her still-injured arms. "Aeroga!" With a large burst of wind, the trio were going up the stalk at an even faster pace than before.
"It doesn't look like he wants to fight you again!" Nami said, trying her best to avoid some lightning that came close to striking them.
"Like that'll stop me!" Luffy shouted.
Xion gritted her teeth as she kept what was left of her magic going, despite her arms practically screaming for her to stop.
'Hey now. If you keep this up, you may not use those arms again!' Voice told her.
'Shut up!' she mentally retorted. 'We have to get to Eneru as fast as possible! And besides, I have my Dream Eaters healing me up as we go!'
She heard a scoff from her teacher, as he seemed to have left things there.
Meanwhile, down below, some 'stray' lightning struck the cloud, revealing the ruins hidden beneath.
"The ruins are being uncovered!" Usopp shouted in a panicked tone.
"He intends to destroy the ground," Gan Fall informed, seeing what Eneru was planning to do.
"But Allen's lying down there!" Aisa said.
"So is Zoro!" Chopper added.
"We have to help them!" Chirithy exclaimed.
Robin kept silent, as she watched the lightning slowly destroy the City of Gold. "The ruins..." she breathed out in such a sad tone.
Guthrie noticed this and wished he could do something to turn that frown upside down. But what can he do in a situation like this? Especially when fighting that Darkside took a lot out of him.
"It won't work, Eneru," Wyper said. Everyone turned and looked at him in shock as they watch him calmly walk into the danger zone. "The city will never fall to you."
"Wyper!" Aisa called out, wanting to rush to him to stop him from possibly killing himself. Sadly, her feet were planted to the ground in fear of getting hit by the lightning.
"The land of Shandora was home to a race of powerful warriors," Wyper continued. "And the city below us preserves their great history with all its might, no matter where it may be! That great power... will never fall to you! No matter how much forest you burn, no matter how much ruins you destroy... THIS LAND WILL NEVER SUBMIT!"
Those words hit everyone hard, especially Gan Fall, as he looked back to the history of Upper Yard.
Aisa couldn't take it anymore and conquered her fear. "Run, Wyper!"
She tried to rush to him, when Robin stopped her. "It's too dangerous!" she told the child.
"But Wyper's gonna die! Let me go, you idiot!" Aisa cried out, trying to get out of the woman's grip.
Up above, Eneru smirked as he held a hand up to his ear. "I still hear the little simpletons scurrying about," he said with a laugh. He then unleashed a powerful lightning attack to down below by the base of Giant Jack, causing a massive explosion to occur.
Those below on Upper Yard shielded their eyes from the lightning, with Usopp, Chirithy and the exhausted Guthrie getting blown away by the attack. The shockwave even reached Luffy's group, as Nami tried to regain control of her steering.
'The Vearth... Of course...' Gan Fall thought, as the light show died down and smoke began to clear up.
As it cleared, it was revealed that the City of Gold was still standing, as though the lightning attack never happened at all. Not just it; all of Upper Yard survived from Eneru's attack.
'Of course! The Vearth is powerful!' the former God continued to think, as he gathered up a handful of dirt in his hand. 'The Vearth was not something to be fought over. We have spilled so much blood and lost so many lives! Why did we not realize it for 400 years?!'
Meanwhile, Wyper, who had fallen to his home when the cloud gave out on him, stood back on his feet, standing proud.
"Wyper!" Aisa cried out, still trying to reach out to the guy and get out of Robin's grip. "Wyper!"
Usopp and Chirithy both recovered from the shockwave and looked up to see Giant Jack still falling... their way.
"R-Run! The beanstalk's coming down! Hey, get over here!" the sniper shouted.
The Dream Eater looked around and saw Guthrie lying several feet away from them. "Guthrie!" he cried out in worry.
"... Go..." Wyper muttered. Taking in a huge breath, he shouted, at the top of his lungs, "GO! STRAW HAT!"
Up on Giant Jack, Nami's waver jumped out of the smoke, still climbing up with Xion's boost. Eventually, it drove off the beanstalk and was making its way to Eneru's ark.
"Here I come! Eneru!" Luffy shouted.
The self-claimed God was not at all amused by this. "They never learn," he said to himself.
"Give back the golden bell!"
"This has gone on long enough, mortals! I have lost my patience! It is already big enough!" Eneru sent up more electricity to the spherical thundercloud. "Now disappear! Along with this irksome land!" Hearing this made Nami panic slightly, Luffy enraged, and Xion gritting her teeth, hoping they can still stop him in time. "Raigou!" Eneru's thundercloud was starting to descend itself. Everyone down below, both on Upper Yard and escaping to the White Sea, could not look away at what was going to happen.
"Nami, Xion, thanks," Luffy suddenly said, confusing the two girls. "I promise, this won't be for nothing!" Next thing they knew, he jumped off the waver, which in turn caused them and the Dream Eaters to fall faster, with Xion cancelling her magic.
"Wait, Luffy!" Nami shouted. "You're going the wrong way!"
Indeed, instead of going to the ark, Luffy was making his way straight into Eneru's deadly attack. Both girls and Xion's Dream Eaters, luckily, landed safely on some clouds. Though in a certain vice captain's case, it wasn't as safe or gentle as it should be.
"Luffy, what are you doing?!" Xion demanded. "You could die if you go in there!"
The boy didn't answer and continued upwards.
Eneru, on the other hand, seemed a bit amused with what the rubberman was planning. "What can you do before this insurmountable power?! Man of Rubber!"
With a loud war cry, Luffy made it in the sphere. The girls held their breath, along with the conscious Dream Eaters, as they hoped Luffy was going to be okay. Then, from within, they could hear...
"Gum Gum... Fireworks: Golden Peony!" Next they knew, something was off about the lightning in the cloud.
"W-What's with these electrical discharges?" Nami wondered.
It was here, Eneru realized what Luffy had planned. 'That's right! The gold on his arm will conduct electricity!'
"So what?! I'll just drop it before you can destabilize it!" he shouted, trying to get the sphere cloud to descend faster. "Everything is as good as gone!"
Xion gritted her teeth as she and Nami clearly see the spherical cloud coming down to them faster than before. 'Come on, Luffy...' she thought. 'You can do it. Break it... Break it. Break it!'
At the top of her lungs, she shouted, "BREAK IT, LUFFY!"
As in answering her prayers, cracks started to form on the sphere. "CLEAR THE SKY!" came Luffy's shout, as the cracks quickly spread. Soon enough, the thundercloud bursted apart and cleared the sky of the dark thunderclouds.
Everyone watching was awestruck at the miracle that had occurred. It was then, from the clear sky, those close enough can faintly hear and see it; a cry and a speck of light. These two signs could only mean one thing to them.
"RING IT, STRAW HAT!" Wyper shouted once more. "LIGHT THE FIRE OF SHANDORA!"
"Go for it, Luffy!" Usopp cheered, waving small flags of their skull and crossbones.
"Get him!" Chirithy followed, also waving a small flag.
"Let me hear it," Gan Fall said. "The song of the island!"
While everyone was relieved of the destruction of the dangerous thundercloud, there was one person, of course, who didn't take it as well as them. "You dare destroy my Raigou! You damn monkey of the Blue Sea!" Eneru demanded.
"Later! I'll ring you with that bell!" Luffy shouted.
"You insolent mortal!" Eneru began to charge up some more electricity in him. "200,000,000 Volt Amaru!" Next think Luffy knew, Eneru completely changed, looking somewhat similar to a gigantic Raijin-looking thundergod.
"What the hell is that?!" he gasped.
"Ring what?!" Eneru demanded. "The Golden Bell?! When it rings again, it will signal the closing of the war! Are you trying to make that prediction come true?! I am God!" He unleashed a devastating thunder attack at Luffy, engulfing him within. "Even at your strongest, one man with Paramecia abilities will never overcome my invincible Logia powers!" While it was true, normally such power could kill a person even with Paramecia abilities, there was one thing he had forgotten.
"I told you that won't work on me!" As a rubberman, lightning has no such effect on Luffy. As such, the Straw Hat captain leapt out of the attack and started running up Eneru's arm. "Quit calling yourself a God! What sort of God tries to destroy everything?!" He landed a strong kick at Eneru's face and was about to finish it, when he felt something close to killing him from behind, had he not stopped it with his free arm. That something was Eneru's trident, in which Luffy was stuck in the middle of the pointed parts of it.
"Oh? You deftly managed to avoid being impaled by grabbing my trident," Eneru said, a bit impressed with the reaction.
"Luffy!" Nami called out.
"What will you do, Man of Rubber?" the Logia Devil Fruit user asked with a small laugh. "You have nowhere to run! Your own arm is driving you farther onto my trident! But if you try to escape, you will fall!" Luffy was screaming in pain as he tried to get himself out of the situation he was in. "I am impressed you made it this high. But you will go no further! Neither you, nor this land! I will form another Raigou!"
As he struggled to get out of his situation, Luffy thought back to what had happened that led to this point. From Conis admitting the truth of the angels, to Allen, Guthrie and Robin explaining to him of Eneru's plan, to Aisa crying for the fate of the island. Each of those memories... were making him even more enraged as he used all the strength he had to get himself out of Eneru's weapon and fall.
"So you've chosen to fall!" The God laughed at the choice that was made.
But in truth, Luffy was not even close to done. He had planned to do what he did earlier on the stalk and tried to grab a cloud, specifically one that was solid enough. He reached out for one... but it was just a normal cloud.
"Luffy!" Nami shouted, as she watched her captain fall.
However, it was far from over. On a cloud below the one Luffy tried to get, something grabbed his hand and kept a hard grip on it. It wasn't Xion, nor any of her Dream Eaters. No... It was...
"Larxene's Me Me Bunny?" Xion identified in surprise. Though it had just regained conscious in time to see Luffy try to end Eneru, it knew enough to know what was going on and decided to assist in helping the rubberman defeat the guy.
"Thank you, bunny!" Luffy shouted, as the golden ball on his arm fell further down until it couldn't anymore.
Seeing this surprised Eneru. "What?!"
"Don't underestimate me, earlobes! Gum Gum Rocket!" The pirate slingshotted himself back into the air at Eneru's level. Once he was back in the air, he stretched his golden arm back and twisted it. "Gum Gum..."
"The same attack?" Eneru noticed with a smirk.
"Until the bell rings!"
The lightning man crossed his tridents together to block the attack. "This time, I'll pierce through your body!"
"Golden Rifle!" Luffy unleashed his powerful punch at Eneru. The God had underestimated the force behind his attack and was forced off his ship and sent flying towards the golden bell. "LET THEM HEAR IT!" Both Eneru and the ball on Luffy's arm hit the bell, freeing the boy at last from the large weight and ringing the bell for the first time in 400 years.
RING!
"Can you hear it?! Diamond-head ossan! Monkeys!" Luffy shouted out loud. "The City of Gold... IS UP HERE!"
Below him, the rest of the Straw Hats, Gan Fall and Aisa were all happy with Luffy's accomplishment.
"T-That crazy jerk did it!" Usopp cheered.
"That's some captain of ours," Guthrie agreed.
"How beautiful," Robin commented on the bell's sound.
"What a pretty sound," Chopper agreed to that.
"So that's the bell's sound," Chirithy said in awe.
Aisa stood in shock as she looked up at the sky.
"I have always believed this day would come," Gan Fall spoke, as he began to tear up.
Sanji, who had regained conscious moments before Luffy's win, was also in awe. "So this is the bell Noland heard."
Down in the ruins of the City of Gold, Wyper stood, as he listened to the bell's ringing.
"Can you hear it, Montblanc Noland?" he asked. "We've kept you waiting. I hope your descendant can hear it."
With him, Zoro silently lied against a ruin, and Allen just lied there near them, dealing with the pain from the Reject Dial, and smiling softly as he thought to himself, 'Great Warrior Calgara... We've done it. After 400 years, we've rung the bell... and ended this war. I hope both you and Noland can hear it...'
Back to where Luffy, Nami and Xion were, the trio were either lying or sitting on the cloud they ended up on, relieved for the fight to finally come to an end.
"It rang..." Luffy sighed. "Do you think ossan and the monkeys heard it?"
"From something that big and loud? Definitely," Xion answered.
"Yeah. I'm certain of it, too," Nami agreed.
"Now then, captain... How are we getting down?"
Some time later, the rest of the Straw Hat Pirates, Gan Fall, Pierre, and Aisa went to the City of Gold, mainly for Chopper to heal Zoro up. As they walked, Aisa heard something approaching them from behind and turned to the source. To her surprise, Laki, whom she thought was dead, approached her.
"Aisa, were you worried?" she asked. "Here's your treasure!" She held up a familiar bag towards the child.
Aisa teared up, relieved to see her friend and big-sister-figure alive. Injured, but alive. "I don't want it! Laki..." Overcome by her tears, Aisa rushed to the older girl and hugged her, crying.
Not far from the girls, a few other Shandian warriors stood, watching the first sign of peace. Among them was Kamakiri, who had a small smile on his face.
With the Straw Hats, Chopper was so insistent with helping Zoro recover.
"Like I said, you need treatment!" he told the swordsman.
"I can wait. He needs it more than me. Help him first, if you can. He's almost dead," Zoro told him, looking over at the unconscious Allen lying on the ground.
The reindeer doctor recalled the length Allen had to go to defeat the Twilight Thorn and make Giant Jack fall and rushed to his side. After giving him a quick examination, Chopper saw that Zoro was right. "It's true! His bones are all broken! He's in trouble!" Chopper quickly got to work with mending the dancer's injuries.
"I'll help out," Guthrie insisted, limping over to the two. "Curaga!" With his healing magic, he made it easier for Chopper to help Allen, as well as saving the Shandian's life.
As they did so, Wyper approached them as well, causing the healers to look up at him. "Allen... Will he survive?"
"Yeah. Don't worry. I'll make sure he survives," Chopper promised.
"The guy is one of us after all. What sort of friends are we if we just leave him to die?" Guthrie reasoned.
Wyper could only watch as the two continued to try to save his cousin's life. As he watched, he looked back to their childhood to the point they were at now. He remembered how adults would always look at Allen and his mom with scornful looks on their faces, whispers of how Allen wasn't a true Shandian, how he wasn't one of the tribe, how his mother was practically a traitor for ever having a child with a Blue Sea Dweller. As if that wasn't bad enough, those treatments rubbed off on their kids, as they constantly find ways to bully the dancer without Wyper looking or the chief knowing. Yet despite that, Allen didn't let any of their words or actions get to them. Instead, he kept a smile on his face and be on his way, mostly to dance in private. Eventually, the guy started to spend most of his time in Upper Yard without anyone but Wyper knowing. He especially recalled how unusually happy he was when he returned home one day and told him he made his first and new friend, and then how months later, he returned home with a fake smile on his face, and hiding the tears he shed.
"Why Xion?" Wyper remembered him muttering. "Why did you leave...?"
Wyper then thought back to how they met the Straw Hat Pirates, especially Xion. He didn't show it back then, but he knew how happy Allen was to see the girl again after so long. Though he knew not of their history, of who Xion was to him, he knew enough to know how precious she was to him. Not only that, but for Allen to fight alongside the other Blue Sea Dwellers like he did... Wyper made up his mind.
"Wyper!" came Aisa's voice. The guy turned and saw the child rushing over to him. "You're okay!"
"Of course I am," he said.
Aisa looked over to Allen with a worried expression. "How's Allen?"
"They're taking care of him now. He'll be fine."
The look on Aisa's face changed to one of relief. "That's great news!"
"So in the end, the Golden Bell and Eneru's Ark..." Sanji spoke, getting caught up with what had happened while he was unconscious.
"Yeah. They both fell," Usopp said.
Sanji sighed at the result. "This is suppose to be the City of Gold, but it ended up being just a name."
"It really is a shame," Chirithy agreed.
"Our flat-broke voyage continues," Zoro said.
"I'd rather have some Dials instead of the gold," the sniper said. "Once we get back to the Blue Sea, we won't be able to get them."
"You have a point there," Guthrie agreed, also having some interest in some of the dials.
"But do you think Nami-san and Xion-san are okay?" Sanji then asked. "And where's Conis-chan?"
After Chopper and Guthrie managed to treat Allen, the two got to work with healing everyone else.
"You guys are done with him?" Zoro asked, as Chopper wrapped bandages around his arm.
"Yeah. All he needs now is rest," the man-reindeer answered.
"OOOIIIIIIIIIIII~!" came a familiar shout.
Everyone looked up and saw Luffy, Nami, Xion, Conis, and Su running to them, dragging a huge bag behind them.
A certain pirate went all lovey-dovey at the sight of most of the group running to them. "Nami-swan~! Xion-swan~! Conis-chwan~!"
"Luffy!" Usopp called out.
"Xion-nee!" Chopper followed.
As soon as the four humans and one cloud fox caught up to the rest of the pirates, Conis cried out tears of joy. "Everyone! I'm so glad you're okay! I was so worried, but I couldn't-!"
"Conis-chan, were you worried about me~?!" Sanji asked, in an extremely happy tone.
"It's not just you," Usopp and Guthrie muttered.
"Is that food?" Zoro asked. "Where'd you find these?"
"We found the priests' food storage on our way back through the forest," Nami answered.
"There are more," Luffy informed, his mouth full of food.
"That doesn't mean you can eat as much as you want," Xion scolded.
"But how'd you guys get down?" Usopp asked.
"Through Gum Gum Balloon," the captain answered with a peace sign.
"Wait a second, Conis. Where's your dad?" Chirithy asked.
Conis froze at the question, a sad expression on her face as she recalled what happened to her father.
"Well, see... He protected me... and then Eneru..." she tried to explain.
She didn't need to go any further than that for them to know what happened to Pagaya.
"Don't tell me," Chopper muttered.
"Conis-chan..." Sanji spoke in a low tone.
"I'm so sorry, Conis," Xion said.
"Conis-san..." Pagaya uttered out.
... Wait, what?!
"Hey, we're talking about you here!" the crew all shouted, turning to the angel and pointing at him accusingly.
"I'm sorry I'm still alive!" he apologized.
The sound of his voice brought a smile and happy tears to Conis. "Father!" She hugged him and cried, so glad to see him okay.
Turns out, Pagaya was knocked off the edge of Upper Yard and ended up on the White Sea. Those who escaped there were starting to return to the White-White Sea and were making their way to Upper Yard, especially since Angel Island was destroyed. Even the Shandians were making their way to Upper Yard as they speak.
Night has fallen. After Xion got her arms checked and properly treated by her brother, the crew all ate the priests' food and were satisfied with the meal. Well, Xion didn't eat much, especially not after hearing what happened to Allen. She wanted to shout at him for his recklessness, but knew better not to. Not when it meant proving himself to his tribe, and especially not when she had acted just as reckless. According to Chopper, if it weren't for her and her Dream Eaters' healing magic, she may not be able to use her arms for a very long while, or worse, at all.
Right now, Xion was in one of the ruins of Shandora, watching over Allen and waiting for him to wake. She wondered why. Was she really that worried for a friend? If it were any of her other crew members, she knew they'd come through, especially if Chopper was the one treating them. Speaking of Chopper, if it were him, she'd definitely be this worried for the doctor; they're siblings after all. But what about Allen? Why was she this worried for him? Was it because he was someone of her past? Was it because he was her closest friend?
"How is he?" she heard. Xion turned and saw Wyper entering the ruins.
"Still resting," she answered him.
"I see." It was silent between the two, as neither of them knew what to say to each other. They may not be enemies, but they weren't friends either.
"I heard about how he came to be like this," Xion said first. "Outsider or not, you're his cousin. Why didn't you stop him?"
Wyper didn't know what to say to that. True, he could've stopped Allen from acting recklessly as he had, especially when the dancer's own body couldn't handle the recoil damage from the Reject Dial. And yet, he didn't. Why? "... I wonder myself," he could only say. "However, I can only assume that the reason is because I was furious. My cousin is- was a proud Shandian warrior, and a descendent of the Great Warrior Calgara. And yet, he pulled a crappy stunt like that back there, just to avoid a fight with Eneru."
Ah yes, Xion had heard of that as well. Before she could retort and remind Wyper of the reason, the warrior continued, "I know he did it to save me. And I heard of where he had been since the others casted him out. Adding to his condition now, after using the Reject Dial once... It is clear now."
Xion could only look at him in confusion, wondering what he meant by all that. Before she could ask, though, a groan was heard. Both looked down at Allen and saw him starting to wake.
"Allen!" she cried out in relief.
"Oh... Where am I...?" the dancer asked.
"In the ruins of Shandora," Wyper answered.
Allen looked to the two living beings in the room. "Wyper... Xion?" He tried to get up, but was held down by the Keyblade wielder.
"Don't try to move just yet," she told him. "What were you thinking? Using such a dangerous dial."
The dancer looked at Xion's arms and smirked. "Like you're one to talk."
The girl pouted and glared at him at the point he made. "If neither of us were so injured, I'd punch you," she said.
Allen let out a small laugh. It was then he started to hear a familiar sound. "Am I... hearing drums...?" He lightly lifted his head and saw an orange glow outside. "Is that... fire? Wait, did we lose?"
"If we did, none of us would be alive, don't you think?" Xion pointed out. Being his support, she helped Allen up on his feet. "Take a look." The moment they stepped out of the ruins, Allen saw that everyone, the Straw Hats, the Shandians, and the Skypieans, were all partying around a large bonfire. Even the cloud wolves and the giant snake partied with them. "From now on, both Skypieans and Shandians are friends."
A smile formed on Allen's face as he heard that and watched the party in front of him. As Xion said, the two races were all laughing together and having the time of their lives together.
