A Trade
Luther and three other vampires stood in front of him. "Get out!" Luther shouted. John slowly climbed out of the truck. "Who are you?" Luther demanded., having never met the man before finding him in they're room trying to swipe the car.
John calmly said, "Name's Winchester.
"Where are your friends?" He asked, not knowing they were friends but family.
John seemed to smirk, "Cleaning out your nest."
Luther smiled tightly but knew there was something more important than a group of vampires. "Where's Kate?"
John turned to the truck. "Come here sweetheart," he said, pulling a large thing of rope, dragging Kate out, wobbly on her feet. He grabbed an arm around her chest, putting a large knife under her chin.
"Kate, you alright?" Luther asked as soon as he saw her.
Kate swallowed hard, looking like she would fall over if John wasn't holding her up. "Dead man's blood." She said just loud enough to be heard.
Luther couldn't take his eyes off Kate even though he was speaking to John when he said, "You son of a bitch."
John didn't care what the man thought, he was after something bigger. "I want the colt, Elkins gun. Trade."
Luther scoffed. "Is that what this is all about?" He demanded. "I mean, you can't shoot us all." A slow grin stretched across his face. "We'll kill you."
"I don't need it for you." John said, not looking the least bit worried. "I'm saving it for something else." He pressed the knife harder into Kate's throat, boarder line cutting her. "Put the colt down, or she goes first."
"Alright." Luther agreed. "Just don't hurt her." Luther put the Colt to the ground before standing back up.
"Back up." John commanded and Luther took a cautious step back. "Further." And he went a few steps back. John made Kate walk with him before being over to pick up the gun, Kate going down as well since he was still holding her.
Luther knew Kate wasn't helpless, that she was planning something. "It's a nice move, you almost made it." Kate shrug her tied hands up, knocking John against his truck a few feet back. He dropped the gun to the pavement in his surprise. Luther back handed John, throwing him into his truck window which shattered the glass. He was unconscious before he hit the ground.
An arrow suddenly shot, getting a vampire in the head. Another hit another nearby vamp. I came running out the trees, Dean and Sam just ahead of me. Sam got to Luther first, only to get back handed to the ground. I pointed my crossbow at him while Dean grabbed his machete. Luther already pulled Sam up, using his body as a shield, an arm around Sam's throat. "Don't! I'll break his neck!" I froze, finger still on the trigger. "Put the blade down." I didn't dare to it and neither did Dean, until Luther cut off Sam's air. I dropped my crossbow next to the machete Dean had dropped. Luther let Sam breath but didn't let him go just yet. I clenched my jaw, wanting to punch off that smug, mad face he had. "You people, why can't you leave us alone." Luther begged. "We have as much right to live as you do."
Nobody noticed John Winchester standing up behind him until he said, "I don't think so." I tensed, prepared for the probably fight but it was unnecessary because Luther turned around only to get shot between the eyes by John from the colt. I had a feeling John couldn't care less about his children nearly dying, too concern with testing to see if the gun would work. A normal gun wouldn't have any effect on a vampire.
Luther fell over dead, Dean pulled the gasping for air Sam behind him. "Are you okay?" I demanded, making him bend over so I could check for any serious damages around his bruised throat.
"I'm fine." Sam insisted, nudging away my hands. Kate screamed when she saw Luther's body. I noticed her face change from desperate to piss, about to run at my father who had just killed her mate who tried to kill him and my brother. The only reason she was still alive was because another vampire grabbed her, pulling her into one of the cars. The tires squealed as they took off.
The next morning at the motel, "I can not wait to get out of this town." I said, stuffing a balled up shirt into my bag. We stopped when dad walked in. I shared a look with the boys before we faced him for whatever disappointment speech he was about to give us.
"So kids." John started. I straightened up, defiance in my eyes. "You ignored a direct order back there."
Sam swallowed hard. "Yes sir."
"I guess we did." I said defiantly.
"But we saved your ass." Dean said. It looked like he'd finally pulled the blinders toward dad off his eyes. Sam looked over at Dean nervously. John looked sternly at Dean. Dean swallowed hard, wondering if he had gone to far. I narrowed my eyes, daring dad to say anything that would ruin Dean's growing self esteemed.
"You're right." John agreed.
All three of us gapped at him because that was literally the last thing we thought he'd say. "I am?" Dean asked dumbstruck.
"He is?" I said with a dropped jaw.
"It scares the hell out of me." John finally admitted. "You three are all I've got." Not like we had any one else. "But I guess we are stronger as a family." I never thought I'd live to see the day where he would actually admit that. "So we're going after this damn thing...together."
The boys and I stared at each other before turning back to John. "Yes sir."
At the blue earth church in Minnesota, a pasted stood ne'er the alter. He looked up when a short blonde haired woman walked in...Meg.
