:Pair Bonding:

He loved this time. The moment when he could give himself over to his baser urges. When he could drop his schedules, his routines, and his responsibilities. The moment he could be free. He walked through the forest calmly, the pads of his paws crunching in the snow. His breath misted in the night air as he stretched every muscle to it's fullest. He looked up at the sky and watched a cloud skim across the bottom of the moon. He was about to turn toward his favorite path when he caught the scent.

He froze. How was that possible? He had been coming to the woods behind the university for 4 years. Not once in all that time had he ever caught even the faintest whiff of another wolf, much less another Were. A growl rumbled in his chest as he warily made his way to the small clearing half a mile away. He picked his way over rocks and branches silently, hoping to sneak up on the newcomer. He edged around a tree and gave a surprised bark. She was lying in the shadow of a large elm, having obviously just changed.

She growled out a warning but he moved closer anyway. He had never met another Were before and excitement unfurled throughout him. She was white and gray, with dark eyes, unlike his own black fur and yellow eyes. She slowly rose to her paws and her lips pulled back into a snarl. He continued to approach her carefully, unable to resist the lure of another one of his kind.

She moved to the right, and then suddenly lunged forward a step. She growled loudly, an obvious warning. Anger washed over him at her threat. How dare she try to challenge him! He growled his displeasure and she barred her teeth again. He had had enough of her petulance.

He dashed forward before she had time to react and knocked her over with his shoulder. He had strength and mass on her, but she was quicker and more agile than he had thought. She rolled with the blow and landed back on her paws. She spun and lashed out with her front claws before he could dodge. Blood oozed from the shallow cuts on his ribs. He snapped at her paw, but missed as she darted out of reach. He rushed her again, and she tried to sidestep, but he wasn't exactly slow, himself. His head rammed her haunch and she rolled again. This time he allowed them to land in a tangle of limbs.

He growled as her teeth sank into his front paw. He whipped his head around and bite her shoulder. He regretted the startled yip of pain, but he had to get her under control. Slowly she quieted down and he released her shoulder, the faint taste of her blood on his tongue. She yipped twice more and raised her muzzle. He was stunned when she exposed her throat to him. Instinct drove him to place his jaws around her jugular. He bit down just hard enough for her to feel it, and then he released her.

He jumped away in surprise as a wave of power washed over him. He watched her rise and pad over to him. He held absolutely still she brushed her body alongside his. She turned and leaned her haunch against his, her posture utterly submissive. She nuzzled his shoulder and he couldn't resist the urge to raise his muzzle and howl at the moon. He turned and nuzzled her back and her eyes turned playful. She licked his jaw and sprang away.

His lips pulled back in a wolfish grin and her eyes widened. He tensed his muscles and she quickly took off. He sprang after her excitedly. The chase was on!

Sheldon woke up and looked at his alarm clock. Leonard will be up soon. He needed to get up and get ready for work. The first day after his three day romp was always the hardest. He sighed and reached up to rub his eyes. Pain spiked and his eyes shot open again. He looked at the claw marks on his side. They were scabbed over, but still sore. The bite mark on his left hand was still red and tender. How was he going to explain that? His friends were under the impression he had been working in his office all weekend.

He sighed and got out of the bed. Who was she, he wondered for the hundredth time. She had disappeared last night, about an hour before he reverted to his human self. Without his wolf nose, he had been unable to track her. They had ran and played together for three nights, sleeping during the daylight hours side by side. He glanced at Wolowitz and Koothrappali asleep in the living room. Looks like his friends had hit the clubs all weekend and passed out. He stepped into the kitchen and started the coffee that Leonard was useless without.

He was just turning toward the short hallway to go take a shower when the front door opened. He watched as Penny, the woman who had moved in two months earlier stumbled inside. She was beautiful and friendly, and his friends were enthralled by her. He didn't find her unpleasant, he had to admit. She waved at him wearily and headed to the kitchen.

"Mind if I steal some milk?' she mumbled sleepily. "Never made it to the store over the weekend."

He waved her toward the fridge and started to turn away again but something caught his attention. He blinked several times to try and clear his vision. Surely he wasn't really seeing what he thought he was seeing. Penny opened the fridge door and bent over, the strap of her little camisole sliding down her arm. He stepped closer and tentatively reached out to trace a finger along the mark on her shoulder. Penny jumped and slapped his hand away. He growled without meaning to.

Penny froze and her eyes widened. "Sheldon?" Her voice was a mere whisper. Vaguely they heard Leonard stumble down the hall and say hello.

Sheldon stepped closer, his eyes boring into hers. He reached out and held his palm up for her to see. Penny's skin became flushed and she reached out to lift the bottom of his pajama shirt. She stared at the marks on his ribs and he shivered under her gaze.

She dropped the hem and looked up at him. "Now what?" she asked softly.

He could feel the same urges he had felt while in wolf form building inside him. He leaned over her and saw the same desire in her expression. "It would appear that we have pair bonded," he said gently. "Like real wolves."

Penny gave in to the urge to touch him, which Sheldon, surprisingly, did not object to. She placed her hands on his chest and he reached out to draw her closer. They could hear Leonard sputtering in the background, and Howard and Raj whispering excitedly to each other. They paid them no mind. Penny licked her dry lips and took a shaky breath. "So we're like a couple now?"

Sheldon felt a spike of possessiveness. He nodded. "You are mine and I am yours," he murmured softly.

Penny's hands slid up around his neck and she drew him down for a heated kiss. Sheldon growled again, with pleasure this time. There was a loud thump behind them and they slowly pulled apart to see what had happened. Howard was staring open mouthed, his eyes bugging out. Raj was teary eyed and smiling. Leonard was passed out on the floor.

Sheldon rolled his eyes and turned back to kiss Penny again. His friends would just have to get used to him and Penny. Because he had no intention of letting her go.
