(Monday)
Andrew and Katie were out behind the Pokemon Center looking at their new pokemon. It was a cloudy day it looks like it may rain. Katie had Goomy on her lab sitting on a bench in between the two arenas and Andrew was watching Froakie move around the arena. Froakie was quick which made Andrew happy to see.
"Froakie come over here," said Andrew who was sitting down in the dirt of the arena.
Froakie stopped what he was doing then hopped over to Andrew, once Froakie stopped in front of him Andrew took out his pokedex he still carries even though it doesn't see much use. Andrew was checking what moves Froakie knows: water pulse, acrobatics, double team, and smack down.
"Great move set Froakie," said Andrew looking at Froakie.
"That reminds me I should check Goomy for moves to," said Katie looking down at Goomey.
Katie sets Goomey on the bench and takes out her pokedex and points is at Goomey. Goomey knows , dragon breath, rain dance, and protect. After Katie put her pokedex away Andrew with Froakie walked over to the bench.
"Are you up to checking the cave today?" asked Andrew.
"Yeah I am. I think we both want know was causing the Goomy to move," answered Katie.
"Do you have a pair of boots with you?" asked Andrew.
"Why?" asked Katie in response.
"My guess is we'll be walking through goo and Zubat droppings and trust you don't want either on your shoes," answered Andrew.
"What wrong with them?" questioned Katie.
"Goo from Goomy's sticks to your shoes and it sometimes is hard to remove form shoes. With Zubat droppings it leaves a nasty smell on them," answered Andrew.
"I don't have boots. I don't like how they fill," said Katie.
"Then I guess we better go get some for you," said Andrew.
"I should see if I have some money then," said Katie.
"Don't worry about buying them, I'll buy them for you," replied Andrew.
"Are you sure?" asked Katie.
"Yeah," answered Andrew.
They both returned their pokemon and walked over to the shoe store here in Richmond. Once inside Andrew asked the cashier to point them towards the boots. The cashier walked them over to the section and walked away.
"Find a pair you like and let me know," said Andrew.
"Ok I will," said Katie looking all over all of them.
Andrew did some looking at some boots as well. He had some already with him, but he could always throw those away because of the smell that was lingering on them. He found a black pair he liked so he grabbed them all he was doing was Katie who was trying the pair she wanted after putting them on she stood up.
"I still hate boots," said Katie with her arms crossed.
Katie walked around some before returning over to Andrew who was sitting down waiting for her.
"Did you find a pair you like?" asked Andrew.
"Yeah these will do," said Katie taking a seat on a bench the store provides.
She took off the boots and put her shoes back on, Andrew did the exact same thing.
"While we're here I think it might be a good idea to get some flash lights and batteries," said Andrew.
With their boots in hand Andrew and Katie walked over to the camping section. While there Andrew grabbed two extra flashlights and two extra packs of batteries.
"I think we got everything," said Andrew.
"Ok then we are ready to go check out?" asked Katie.
"Yeah lets go," said Andrew.
Andrew and Katie walked over to the register, waited in line till the cashier rang them up. Andrew looked at the total, took out his wallet and handed the cashier some money. The cashier bagged up everything and the two of them left back to the Pokemon Center.
(At the Pokemon Center)
Andrew looked down in his backpack he made sure he had everything, even a sleeping bag just in case. After making sure he was packed he walked over to Katie's bed were she was doing the same thing. He took a seat next to her.
"Do you have a sleeping bag too?" asked Andrew.
"Yeah I do it's packed up ready to go," answered Katie.
"Good take some flashlights too," said Andrew handing her two.
She packed them in her bag and the two of them went back downstairs, got their pokemon checked up by the nurse and they left.
"So Andrew how are we going to get there?" asked Katie.
"You're going to fly Flygon again there," answered Andrew.
"Ok lets go then," said Katie.
Andrew called out Flygon. Andrew walked over to Flygon patted his head and told him that Katie was flying him again. Flygon looked at Katie and lowered himself to allow Katie to get on his back. After Katie got on Andrew did too after both were on Flygon lifted his head and kicked off the ground into the air. It took the two of them 10 minutes to get to the base of the mountain.
(At the Mountain)
Flygon stopped near the entrance and allowed both of them to get off. Andrew took off his white sneakers on and put his new black boots on. Katie took off he black sneakers and put her boots on. Andrew returned Flygon and the two of them walked inside the cave.
"If we follow the goo it should lead us to where the Goomy's live," said Andrew.
The two of them walked deeper and deeper into the cave as they did you could start seeing more and more pokemon. They saw a couple of Roggenrola and a Woobat or two. They walked over to a clearing and stopped. The whole ground in this clearing was covered in Goomey goo.
"It looks like Goomy have been here," said Katie.
"I think this is the way the Goomey's used to exit the cave a moved into the forest which is not that far from here," said Andrew.
"Do you think there are still some Goomy's here?" asked Katie.
"Yeah I do think so. Once we go to the lowest level near the fresh water pond we should see them," answered Andrew.
"Let's keep going then," said Katie.
The two of the them continued walking downward till they had to stop to take out their flashlights. Once they turned them on they pointed them at the wall and they saw was dozens of eggs.
"Andrew what pokemon eggs are those?" asked Katie.
"If I had to guess they are Zubat eggs," answered Andrew.
"There are sure a lot of them," said Katie.
"Yeah you can say that again," said Andrew.
They continued walking till the reached the pond. The pond is in the center and hovering over it is Zubat's and Golbat's. There is no sign of any Goomey's with expectation of some goo on the ground. The walls were layered with Zubat eggs. They walked past the lake and into a smaller area. In this area you saw four Goomy's all around a small pond of water.
"Is this all that are left here?" asked Katie.
"I think so. The Zubat's over ran them at the big pond over there forcing some of the Goomey to move and the others to stay around this little area of water," answered Andrew.
"We have to do something to help these Goomey," said Katie.
Andrew walked back over to the large pond of water and looked into it. You could tell Andrew was looking for something under the water. Minutes later Katie joined him over on one side of the lake.
"This pond has to be connected to a larger body of water. We just need to find that larger body of water," said Andrew.
"Do you think if we go deeper into the cave we could find that larger body of water?" asked Katie.
"What I think we need to do is search under for an opening under the water here if we follow that we may find the other source of water," said Andrew.
"So we're going swimming," replied Katie.
"Not we just me I need you watching my back out here. I'm going to leave Glaceon with you he'll be able to help you if the Zubat's, Golbat's and even if a Crobat is part of the group and they try to attack," said Andrew.
"Ok be careful under there," said Katie.
"I will. I'll also have Froakie with me," said Andrew.
Andrew calls out Glaceon tells him to stay with Katie and he walks over to change into a pair of shorts. Once in those shorts he takes his shirt off and calls out Froakie into the water. Andrew gets into the water with Froakie. They both go under water. Katie and Glaceon look around to make sure no Zubat's attack. After about a minute under the water Andrew came back up for some air.
"Any luck finding anything?" asked Katie.
"Not yet hopefully we do find something," said Andrew.
Andrew takes in some more air before diving back under. This time around he finds something he couldn't reach but Froakie could and he pointed at it and Froakie swam into it. Andrew came back up for air and climbed out of the water and waited for Froakie to return in which he did a few minutes after Andrew got out. Froakie swam to the surface and then hopped out next to Andrew.
"So Froakie did find something?" asked Andrew.
"Fro," said Froakie. (Translation: Yes)
"Great, is it down or up?" asked Andrew.
Froakie pointed down. Andrew looked over at the way leading deeper into the cave. He got up walked past the four Goomey still there and looked down the dark path. Before walking back to Katie Andrew put his pants back on and his shirt back on and walked back over to Katie. After doing so the Zubat's who were just flying around turned aggressive and tried to attack Andrew they would have if it wasn't for Glaceon shooting an ice beam at the Zubat. The ice beam froze the Zubat and he crashed to the ground.
"Great shot Glaceon," said Andrew.
Glaceon looked around as more Zubat dove at them. Glaceon this time used blizzard to stop multiple Zubat at once. More just kept coming Katie called out Absol and had him use thunderbolt which stopped more.
"I think we take this time and get out of here," said Andrew.
The two of them and their pokemon ran past the four Goomy who now hide because of all the fighting and into the darker part of the cave.
(Deeper in the Cave)
Katie took a seat on a rock and Andrew stood up trying to catch his breath. Andrew returned Glaceon and Froakie and after he did Katie returned Absol.
"What did we do to get those Zubat's to attack us?" asked Katie.
"I don't know," answered Andrew.
"At least we know there is another water source down here," said Katie.
"Yeah you're right we better get to finding it then," said Andrew.
The two of them continued the walk down the path. After walking another hour they finally came to the other pond it was much larger and much clearer and most important it was not full of Zubat's. Both trainers looked down at the lake then at each other and smiled.
"How do we get the Goomey's down here?" asked Katie.
"I bet they would follow your Goomey if he lead them down here," answered Andrew.
"You think that would work?" asked Katie.
"Yeah I do," answered Andrew.
The two of them walked back over to the area the saw the four Goomey's and looked around to find them. After looking around they found 10 Goomey's huddled around the water. Katie called out her Goomey and her Goomey moved over to the others talked to them and they followed her Goomey down the path that Andrew and Katie walked up. After walking 2 hours because the Goomey's are walking slow they made it to the lake. The ten Goomey's following Katie's looked happy and moved around the water and made homes there. The Goomey look happy as they now had an area to enjoy water. Katie had returned her Goomy and Andrew and her watched the others. They smiled at each other and walked back up to leave the cave.
It took and hour to make it back to where the Zubat's attacked them. This time when they got there many of the Zubat's had gone to bed so none of them attacked Katie and Andrew. After walking another couple hours they made it to the outside.
(Outside)
The two of them went in the cave when it was day now it was dark and both of them wanted to get a warm meal and just get some rest. Andrew called out Flygon. Flygon lowered himself and allowed Katie to get on. After Katie got on Andrew did and Flygon took off in the direction of Richmond. They made it back to Richmond back in front of the Pokemon Center in one piece. They got off Flygon and walked inside the Pokemon Center. Once inside the Nurse walked over to Andrew and Katie.
"Andrew your cell phone has not stopped ringing since you left I think it might be important," said the Nurse.
"Thanks for letting me know," replied Andrew.
"I would like to let you know dinner will be ready soon," said the Nurse walking away.
Andrew and Katie walk upstairs Katie got ready to take a shower and Andrew walked over to his cell phone grabbed it and looked at the 5 missed calls he had. It was Juan that had been calling him.
"Who was it?" asked Katie.
"Don't worry about it just go shower I'll meet you at the table when I get off the phone," answered Andrew.
"Ok I'll see you at dinner," said Katie walking into the bathroom.
Andrew walked downstairs and outside and called Juan back.
(Phone Call)
"Nice of you to finally return my call Andrew," said Juan.
"I was busy at the moment," replied Andrew.
"It's cool Andrew," said Juan.
"Now what's the reason you called me?" questioned Andrew.
"Harold found something," answered Juan.
"What did he find?" asked Andrew in serious tone.
"That is something we'd like to talk to you in person. This should be your top priority when you get back to DC," said Juan.
"Ok I'll leave a day after I get back. Whatever it is you found tell no one," said Andrew.
"The only other person who knows that we found something is Marc. He told us to keep trying to get a hold of you," said Juan.
"Where was it found?" asked Andrew.
"On land that is all I'll say at the moment," answered Juan.
"Follow the instructions I gave you no one in," said Andrew.
"Of course," said Juan.
"I'll talk to you more when I get there," said Andrew.
"I look forward to seeing you," said Juan hanging up.
After getting off the phone with Juan, Andrew gave Marc a call.
"Hey Andrew," said Marc.
"Hey," replied Andrew.
"Juan has been trying to get a hold of you," said Marc.
"I know I just got off the phone with him," said Andrew.
"I know he found something," said Marc.
"So do I. What I need of you is to write out everything that happened here in Richmond. After doing so be ready to leave when I get back and tell the others to be ready too," said Andrew.
"I'll get too writing everything out tonight. Why do you want all of us ready?" asked Marc.
"I'm taking all of you to Hawaii when I get back, we all need to know what he found," answered Andrew.
"Ok we'll be ready," said Marc.
"I'll see you when I get back then," said Andrew hanging up.
After hanging up he put his phone in his pocket and walked back inside the Pokemon Center.
(Back inside the Pokemon Center)
Andrew walked back upstairs and sat his phone down back on the nightstand near his bed. Katie was drying her hair on her bed. After Andrew set his phone down he sat next to Katie.
"What's up Andrew?" asked Katie with a concerned look on her face.
"A lot at the moment," answered Andrew.
"What do you mean?" asked Katie.
"I think something I feared of finding might have been found," answered Andrew.
"What could that be?" asked Katie.
"I'll come talk to you in Cincinnati after I get back from Hawaii," answered Andrew.
"When are you leaving to Hawaii?" asked Katie.
"A day after dropping you off in Cincinnati," answered Andrew.
"How long will you be there?" asked Katie.
"Hopefully just a couple hours," answered Andrew.
"Ok just call me when you leave Hawaii so I can expect you," said Katie.
"You know something Katie I really enjoy being able to talk to you. Thanks for being there for me," said Andrew looking at Katie.
"Andrew I'll be here for you during the bad or the worse," said Katie smiling at him.
The moment these two were having was ruined when the Nurse walked up to let them know that dinner was ready. They both got up and walked downstairs to eat. During dinner the table was quiet everyone was enjoying the soup the Nurse had made. Andrew had a lot to think about. In the next couple days if what they found is what he thinks it is he will have to do what he can to protect them. He'll have to use all of his power to do so knowing that the orbs are in the possession of Goodsworth. Katie on the other hand was concerned about Andrew, she had been since what he said upstairs. After everyone was done eating the two of them had walked back upstairs.
"What a day," said Katie.
"Yeah you can say that again," replied Andrew with a laugh.
A loud noise outside had them both stand up off their bed and walk over to the window. A moment after the loud noise the power went out. After the power went out the Nurse walked upstairs holding a candle.
"Are you both ok?" asked the Nurse.
"Yeah we are," answered Andrew
"What happened?" asked Katie.
"We're not sure yet," answered the Nurse.
"Has anyone checked yet?" asked Andrew.
"Yeah the police are already heading over there," answered the Nurse.
"What do you want us to do?" asked Katie.
"Just stay clam and relax," answered the Nurse.
After saying that the Nurse left and walked back downstairs. Andrew put his shoes on and clipped his pokeballs onto his belt.
"Where are you going?" asked Katie.
"I'm going to go find out what happened," answered Andrew.
"Not with out me," replied Katie.
"You're in your pj's I'm still dressed," said Andrew.
"What's your point?" asked Katie.
"Your in shorts and it's cold outside," answered Andrew.
"I'll be fine lets just go," said Katie.
Katie slipped her shoes on and grabbed one of her belt and clipped on her shorts before they walked outside. Once outside they looked around and then up at the sky flashed multiple colors. The colors were green first, it then went to red, and last but not least a blue color, it is not the same blue as during the day or night is a blue color that if you were to see it you could tell it was blue. The clouds in the sky were the same color each time the sky changed colors. Many people were outside to see the light show. Once the sky returned to normal the power was restored and everyone outside returned back inside. After, Andrew and Katie returned inside the Pokemon Center, Andrew walked over to his bag to see the meteorite he had was giving off the same green color that was in the sky.
"Why does the keep happening?" asked Katie.
"I have no idea," answered Andrew.
"Maybe it's a sign of events to come," said Katie.
"Maybe, since this time was three distinct colors compared to only two colors like the last few times," said Andrew.
"What do you think it means if it is a sign?" asked Katie.
"I don't want to speculate anything right now," said Andrew looking off slightly mad.
After saying that Andrew walked off downstairs and back outside for some fresh air. Katie stayed upstairs and looked out the window to see him just standing and looking up into the sky. He walked around a little got some ice cream for both of them and then returned to the Pokemon Center. Katie was sitting on her bed with Espeon brushing him. Andrew sat down next to her, Katie looked at him and smiled hoping for some type of response. He smiled back at her.
"You look better," said Katie.
"Fresh air can really clear one's mind," replied Andrew.
"That's good," said Katie.
"Anyway I though about an answer. If I had to guess it has to do with Groudon, Kyorge, and I don't know about the green yet," said Andrew.
"When we were in Hawaii we heard a myth that a green dragon stopped the two from fighting. Maybe the green signals that green dragon," said Katie.
"You might be right about that," replied Andrew.
Andrew stood up and grabbed his backpack and walked over to the bathroom. He took a shower and got into his pj's. After doing so they both went bed for the evening.
(Tuesday)
Andrew was already up when Katie woke up. Andrew was taking a shower and getting dressed for the day. Katie gets up stretches and waits for Andrew to get out. Once he walks out of the bathroom he sets his backpack down and Katie walks over to him.
"Good morning," said Andrew.
"Good morning to you too," said Katie.
"I'm just about to go get some breakfast if you want you can come too," said Andrew.
"Just let me get dressed then we can leave," said Katie grabbing her backpack and walking into the bathroom.
While Andrew waited for Katie he checked his emails. He had one from Marc it was the details of what had happened after he ran after Goodsworth and Marco. He was tempted to open it, but he thought better. He told himself that he will read it when he gets back to DC. After Katie got dressed and brushed her hair she walked out grabbed her necklace case and glasses put both of them on and they left the Pokemon Center over to the Café that serves breakfast.
Once at the Café they took a seat and waited for a waiter to come take their order.
"So what are we doing today?" asked Katie.
"I'm going to have a battle with Jimmy. Then maybe we'll be able to tour their Breeding Center," answered Andrew.
"Are you going to use Froakie?" asked Katie.
"I might, I know he's battled before, I just don't know how much he has," answered Andrew.
"What about after breakfast you use him in a battle against Goomy and me," said Katie.
"Yeah I do like that plan," replied Andrew.
The waiter finally showed up and both of them ordered the same thing. A French Toast plate with eggs, bacon, and hash browns. Andrew got his eggs scrambled, Katie got her's over easy. After waiting about 5 minutes their food finally arrived. The two of them ate the whole plate and waited for the waiter to bring their bill. Once the waiter did Andrew grabbed it put some money in it to cover their food, left a good tip on the table and they left back over to the Pokemon Center. They walked to the back and took a spot on the arena. Andrew called out Froakie and Katie called out Goomey.
(Training Battle Goomy vs. Froakie)
"Froakie use smack down,"
"Goomy use protect,"
Froakie turned a brown color before getting ready to toss a rock at Goomy. Katie watched as Goomy brought up a shield she hoped it will hoped it would be able to withstand that rock attack. Froakie tossed the rock at the shield. The shield withstood the rock hitting it. Katie let out a sigh of relief knowing that Goomy can take a hit while using protect.
"Andrew why is Froakie brown?" asked Katie.
"If I had to guess it's his ability protean," answered Andrew.
"I thought Froakie like most water pokemon would have torrent," replied Katie.
"Not necessarily each starter pokemon as two ability's one that is common like torrent and the other is more of a hidden ability like protean," said Andrew.
"So what does protean do?" asked Katie.
"Well protean turns Froakie into a specific type depending on the attack. For example that since he used smack down he became a rock type," answered Andrew.
"So Froakie would have all the weakness of a rock type not a water type?" asked Katie.
"For the time being yes," answered Andrew.
"That Froakie is going to be hard to beat as you train him more," said Katie.
"I know I'm actually looking forward to seeing Froakie's full potential," said Andrew.
"Goomy use dragonbreath,"
"Froakie use double team to dodge the attack,"
Goomy sent a small barrage of green flames were sent out by Goomy in the direction of Froakie. Froakie made dodging the attack look easy. As he moved so quickly that it looked like there were more of him. Katie was lost as she could not tell which was the real Froakie and which was just an illusion. Katie wasn't the only confused by this so was her Goomy who looked discouraged because his attack wouldn't land.
"It's ok Goomy we'll find the real one," said Katie trying to restore some confidence in her Goomy.
Goomy perked up and shot off another stream of green flames.
"Goomy move the attack from right to left," ordered Katie pointing at the Froakie to the right to start with.
Goomy started to moved his attack around. It started to wipe out some of the illusions of Froakie. Goomy got tried quickly and had to stop there was still so many Froakie's left.
It's our turn. Froakie use acrobatics,"
Froakie turned a white color as he ran at Goomy. Katie watched as her poor Goomy was hit from all angles by the bubble frog pokemon. Goomy eventually turned into a pile of Goo because of the lack of water he had. Froakie stopped his attack and jumped back in front of Andrew.
"It appears Goomy needs some water," said Andrew.
"I know he does," replied Katie.
"I'll get him this time. Froakie use a small dose of water pulse," said Andrew.
Froakie turned back to his normal blue color and sent a smaller version of water pulse at Goomy. Goomy absorbed most of the water returning to his normal old self.
"Goomy looks much better now," said Andrew.
"Thanks Andrew and Froakie," said Katie walking over and picking up her Goomy.
"Good job Froakie, return," said Andrew.
(After the Training Battle)
Andrew and Katie walk back into the Pokemon Center and sit down on the couch in the waiting room. Andrew turned on the TV and on was a battle between Marc and a challenger. Marc was dominating with his Conkelder while the challenger was trying to attack him with a Swellow. One thunderpunch from Conkelder wiped out Swellow with ease.
"Andrew thanks for the battle today," said Katie.
"Anytime, Goomy will be good he just needs some more time battling," replied Andrew.
"Something has been bugging since my gym battle with Sara," said Katie.
"What would that be?" asked Andrew.
"What happened to Absol," answered Katie.
"I wish I had that answer I have never seen that much power in one attack unless it was a mega pokemon. We'll have to see if he can tap into it again, but next in a more controlled environment," said Andrew.
"Do you think it will happen again?" asked Katie.
"Yeah I do it's only a matter of time," answered Andrew.
The two of them continued to sit there for another couple of minutes till Jimmy and Becky walked in and found them. Jimmy looked determined and ready to battle. They walked over to Andrew and Katie.
"Andrew if you're ready we should battle now," said Jimmy.
"Ok let's go walk over to town square," said Andrew.
The four of them walked over to town square and walked onto the battling square and both took their spots. Some people walking through town square walked over and started to watch what was about to happen.
(At Town Square)
"I should tell you why I took this battle Jimmy. I took it because I wanted a warm up match. I haven't really battled since last Wednesday," said Andrew.
"I'm still going to give you all you can handle," said Jimmy.
"I would hope so," replied Andrew.
"We need a ref," said Jimmy.
"Katie can do it," said Andrew.
"As long as she is fair," replied Jimmy.
"She will be," said Andrew.
"This will be a six on six battle both of us will be able to substitute at anytime. We will not take a break after three. We'll not stop till we have a winner," said Jimmy.
"That will be fine with me," said Andrew.
"Ok then let's battle," said Jimmy.
(Pokemon Battle: Andrew vs. Jimmy)
Andrew walked to one side on the arena and opposite of him stands Jimmy. Katie stands in the center as a ref and Becky stands behind Jimmy ready to watch and cheer on her boyfriend.
"I'll call out my pokemon first," said Andrew.
"Ok," replied Jimmy.
"Go Gengar," said Andrew.
"Go Accelgor," said Jimmy.
"I see you've scouted me out and are going to try to match speed with speed," said Andrew.
"You're damn right I'm going to use the one thing you use so well against you," replied Jimmy.
"Jimmy you should know that I can use much more than just speed," said Andrew.
"I know, but I think the way to beat you is by using speed," said Jimmy.
"Then you can have the first move," said Andrew.
"Accelgor use energy ball,"
"Gengar dodge it and then use hypnosis,"
Everyone watching, watched as Accelgor moved so quickly that if you blinked you would have missed it. Accelgor made an green ball of energy right in front of Gengar. Gengar moved just as quick as he phased out from in front of Accelgor to above him. Gengar started to move his hands in a hypnotic motion and sent Accelgor to sleep. Accelgor could not use his attack.
"So much for trying to match Gengar's speed," said Andrew.
"Damn I thought if I outsped Gengar I could beat him, but I guess I was wrong," said Jimmy.
"Gengar use dream eater,"
"Return Accelgor and go Steelix," said Jimmy.
"So you go from speed to defense," said Andrew.
"Yep, that's the plan," replied Jimmy.
"The one problem with Steelix is he is slow making dodging attack hard," said Andrew.
"I know I took that into account when I trained this Steelix," replied Jimmy.
"Let's see how Steelix can match up with one of my best. Return Gengar and go Flygon," said Andrew.
"Steelix try to get him with ice fang,"
"Flygon dodge it then use flamethrower,"
Steelix's teeth turned an artic blue color as he stretched out to try and reach Flygon. Flygon used his speed to get out of reach of Steelix. Once out of reach Flygon sent a stream of flames down at Steelix. Becky looked on as her boyfriend's pokemon took a super effective attack that left some burned marks on his steel body.
"Come on Jimmy you have to bounce back," said Becky.
"Steelix use dragonbreath,"
"Flygon counter with dragon pulse,"
Jimmy took in Becky's words as words of encouragement and used them to keep going. Steelix opened his mouth and sent a green flame at Flygon, who looked at it and sent a blue pulse at the dragonbreath. Both attacks hit one another and exploded and caused some smoke to come over the arena. Both trainers could not see one another and barely saw their pokemon. The wind in Richmond blew the smoke away and everyone could see what's going on.
"Steelix use gyro ball,"
"Flygon use flamethrower,"
Steelix started to spin rapidly and looked like a steel ball, he then went at Flygon who sent a stream of flames at that ball. The stream of flames stopped the ball and Steelix had to stop spinning and take a full shot of flamethrower. Steelix looked strong for the most part, but Jimmy and those watching knew Steelix could not take much more of this fire attack from Flygon. This flamethrower left Steelix burned and in some pain.
"What are you going to do Jimmy? You can't let him take another powerful fire attack and by the looks of it one more will be more then enough," said Andrew.
"I can't lose Steelix yet, but trying to find a counter to Andrew's Flygon has puzzled even some of the best so I need to think quick in order to beat it," said Jimmy.
"Flygon use one last flamethrower,"
"Jimmy!" said Becky trying to shock Jimmy back into reality.
Flygon sent a powerful stream of fire at Steelix who just stood there as his trainer was deep in thought. It took a couple of hearing Becky to wake up Jimmy and by time he realized what was happening it was to late and he watched as his Steelix took that stream of flames head on. After a couple of seconds of taking that stream of flames Steelix's body that wasn't on the ground crashed to the ground causing it to shake.
"Steelix is unable to battle, Flygon wins," said Katie.
"Return Steelix and go Froslass," said Jimmy.
"I should tell you that my next pokemon has been my trustee partner since I've started my journey. Return Flygon and go Charizard," said Andrew holding out Charizard's pokeball in front of him.
"Froslass use ice beam,"
"Charizard use flamethrower,"
Froslass opened his mouth and sent a blue rigid beam of ice at Charizard. Charizard sent a stream of hot fire that meet the beam of ice head on and melt right through it and the attack then went at Froslass. The flamethrower hits Froslass and sends her to the ground. Froslass gets up with marks left by the flamethrower.
"Froslass return and go Feraligatr," said Jimmy.
"Return Charizard and go Lucario," said Andrew.
"Feraligatr use ice punch,"
"Lucario use aura sphere,"
Feraligatr's right hand turned light blue covered in ice. Feraligatr ran at Lucario who just stood there. Lucario extended his left hand and made sphere out of his aura. Once the ball was made he sent it at Feraligatr. Feraligatr crashed his icy hand into it to cause the aura sphere to explode in his face.
"Lucario now knock him down with bone rush,"
Lucario brought his two paws together and between them made a bone. He rushed at Feraligatr aiming for his feet. Becky watch on as Jimmy's Feraligatr was knocked down on to the ground by the bone rush. Feraligatr struggled to get back to his feet, but after a couple tries he does get back to his feet.
"Lucario finish this battle off use thunderpunch,"
"Feraligatr use bite on his thunderpunch,"
Lucario's left paw became coated in thunder, he then ran at Feraligatr and once he was ready to punch him Feraligatr bit down on that hand. The thunder on that hand shocked Feraligatr's mouth, but he kept his grip on that hand.
"I've got him right where I want him now," said Jimmy looking at Andrew.
Jimmy was shocked he saw a smile on Andrew's face as if Andrew prepared for something like this. The smile on his face also had Katie and Becky confused, his Lucario was trapped how could he be happy about that.
"Jimmy it's the end of Feraligatr. Lucario use aura sphere," said Andrew
Lucario brought his right paw near the gut of Feraligatr. Lucario made a sphere and when the attack was ready he sent it right into the gut of Feraligatr. Feraligatr let go of Lucario's other paw . Lucario jumped back right in front of his trainer he examined his paw and Feraligatr was sent into the direction of his trainer only stopping a few steps away from Jimmy. Feraligatr had fainted.
"Feraligatr is unable to battle, Lucario wins," said Katie.
Jimmy looked stunned at the event that just unfolded he thought that the pain in Lucario's other arm would cause him to flinch, but he was wrong he begun to pick up on why.
"Lucario's ability is Inner Focus isn't it?" asked Jimmy.
"That would be correct," answered Andrew.
"I expected that when he was able to attack even while his other paw was bitten down on," said Jimmy.
Jimmy looked over at his Feraligatr and begun to rethink challenging Andrew. Feraligatr was his first pokemon and always looked at him as his best, but to watch Lucario just knock him down quickly.
"How are you always confident Andrew? Your pokemon could be in a sticky situation like Lucario was and yet you seem unfazed by it," asked Jimmy.
"We all are confident when we battle it's something we gain over time after each and every battle we do. The only reason I'm not fazed by much is because I don't let things get to me. Another way to look at it is I might be down sometimes, but I'm never out of a battle all it take is one move to turn that tide. In the case of my Lucario the event that turned the tide was you were expecting Lucario to flinch giving you time to attack, but when he didn't you were thrown off giving me the advantage back. In all honesty I saw through your plan since you had Feraligatr bite down on Lucario's paw." answered Andrew simply.
"So you saw what I planned to do?" asked Jimmy.
"I hate to be blunt about it but I did it wasn't that hard predict what you were planning," answered Andrew.
"If a person didn't really know you, you could come off as a jerk and a very cold person," said Jimmy.
"Unfortunately it's the one think most people find annoying about me. I've tried to change that many times, but I have been unable to," said Andrew.
"I always thought a Champion should be helpful and friendly not cold like you," said Jimmy.
"And I am helpful and friendly. You can ask anyone that I have talked about battling to. I give out advice in which I never got," replied Andrew.
"We should get back to this battle then," said Jimmy.
"Let's get back to it then," replied Andrew.
"Return Feraligatr and go Darmanitan," said Jimmy.
"Return Lucario and go Gengar," said Andrew.
"Darmanitan use flamethrower,"
"Gengar dodge it and use hypnosis,"
Darmanitan sent a stream of flames at where Gengar was. Gengar had phased from where he was to now above Darmanitan. Gengar moved his hands up and down in a hypnotic way causing Darmanitan to fall asleep.
"Gengar use dream eater,"
Gengar's eyes looked directly into the sleepy Darmanitan. Gengar absorbed the dreams Darmanitan was having those dreams Gengar was absorbing allowed him to gain some stamina back.
"Gengar use shadow ball,"
Gengar made a shadowy ball in front of one of his hands he then sent it at the sleeping Darmanitan who took the hit and fell to the ground still asleep. After taking the hit from shadow ball Darmanitan was finally waking up He looked around to find Gengar.
"Darmanitan use fire punch,"
"Gengar stop him with psychic,"
Darmanitan's right hand became a fiery red color and he jumped up to try and hit Gengar, but he was stopped by the psychic power Gengar admitted. Gengar held him for a few moments then flicked him away in the direction of his trainer. Becky had a nervous look on her face since watching Darmanitan fall sleep.
"Gengar use dark pulse,"
Gengar sent waves of dark energy at the grounded Darmanitan. He took those waves right into the back. Watching Darmanitan take that hit caused Becky to look away in fear of her boyfriend's pokemon. She had a right to fear because shortly after taking a couple hits from the attack Darmanitan had fainted.
"Darmanitan is unable to battle, Gengar wins," said Katie.
"Return Darmanitan," said Jimmy.
"Are you sure you don't want a break?" asked Andrew.
"Yes I am," answered Jimmy.
"Ok," replied Andrew.
"Go Archeops," said Jimmy.
"Return Gengar and go Glaceon," said Andrew.
"Archeops use rock slide,"
"Glaceon use dig to dodge it and then use hail,"
About five rocks appeared above were Glaceon was. Glaceon dug himself underground to protect him from any damage he might take from the attack. Once the attack was over Glaceon popped out of the hole and sent a ball of ice into the air. The arena they were battling in was now covered in clouds and it begun to snow. The arena was now covered in it making Glaceon considerably faster.
"Archeops now use wing attack on Glaceon,"
"Glaceon use ice beam,"
Archeops looked around trying to find Glaceon, but Glaceon was covered up in the snow making him harder to see. Archeops finely found him when Glaceon sent a rigid blue beam of ice at him. This beam of ice froze the tips of his wings and some of his belly causing him to crash to the ground.
Everyone looked on knowing what was going to happen next. It was one of the best combo's Glaceon can use and that was using blizzard.
"Glaceon use blizzard,"
"Archeops you have to get into the air to avoid that,"
Archeops tried to get into the air, but the ice on his body prevented him from doing so. Glaceon let out a cry and sent a storm of snow at Archeops. Archeops was forced to take all of that storm and it caused him to faint.
"Archeops is unable to battle, Glaceon wins," said Katie.
"These are your last two pokemon Jimmy you better make the most out of them," said Andrew.
"I plan to. Return Archeops and go Froslass," said Jimmy.
"Return Glaceon and go Gengar," said Andrew.
It is still hailing allowing Jimmy's Froslass to use her ability. It gave her a speed boost to just be faster then Gengar.
"Gengar use shadow ball,"
"Froslass dodge it and use your own shadow ball,"
Gengar extended his arm and made a shadowy ball in it. He then sent this ball at Froslass who used her speed to dodge the attack with ease and sent her own shadowy ball at Gengar. He too used his own speed to avoid the attack. It was a battle of speed and only one of these ghost pokemon was going to win.
"Gengar use dark pulse,"
"Froslass use ice beam,"
Gengar sent waves of dark energy at Froslass who dodged each wave sent a rigid beam of ice hitting Gengar and freezing him.
"Froslass use shadow ball,"
Froslass made a shadowy ball in front of her mouth and sent it at the frozen Gengar. Gengar by this time at used wil-o-wisp to un freeze himself just in time to take the shadow ball. Once the shadow ball hit the shadow pokemon it caused him to stop floating and hit the ground. Gengar had also fainted from just the one shadow ball. Finally seeing Jimmy take down one of Andrew's pokemon brought a smile to Becky's face. throughout this battle she had watched as each and everyone of Jimmy's pokemon before this had fallen.
"Gengar is unable to battle, Froslass wins," said Katie.
"Return Gengar and go Charizard," said Andrew.
Seeing Charizard again made Jimmy nervous. He knew that Charizard alone can take down his last two pokemon especially knowing Accelgor is out cold and asleep. After Charizard was called out the hail had finally stopped. This slowed down Froslass to her normal speed.
"Froslass use shadow ball,"
"Charizard use flamethrower,"
Froslass opened her mouth and made a shadowy ball. Charizard opened his and sent a stream of fire at Froslass. She finished making her shadow ball and sent it at the flamethrower. The stream of fire hit it and caused it to explode and causing the arena to get covered in smoke. This smoke didn't stop the flamethrower as it still went at Froslass, she had managed to get out of the way of the fire stream.
"Charizard clear the smoke with heat wave,"
"Froslass use ice beam," said Jimmy nervously.
Charizard flapped his wings and sent wave of fire everywhere it blew away the smoke and made Froslass easy to see. Froslass sent a rigid blue beam of ice that just ended up getting melted by the waves of heat coming at her. Froslass was eventually hit with these waves of heat and it caused her to faint and fall to the ground. Jimmy's only hope to beating anymore of Andrew's pokemon had just fainted. He knew Accelgor was basically useless and Charizard was going to just make short work of him.
"Froslass is unable to battle, Charizard wins," said Katie.
"Return Froslass, and go Accelgor," said Jimmy with defeat in his voice.
Once Accelgor was called out to the arena you could tell he was still asleep. Jimmy's only hope is Accelgor would wake up before Charizard could use an attack.
"Charizard use fire blast,"
Charizard sent a ball of fire out that later turned to look like a person. This attack went right for the sleeping bug pokemon and made short work of him as it hit and caused Accelgor to fall back and faint. Becky was shocked this was the first time she saw him battle and he had lost. Beck was sad enough for the both of them.
"Accelgor is unable to battle, Charizard wins. Andrew is the winner," said Katie.
"Jimmy listen to what I'm going to say. You have a great handle on how to use your pokemon to their best, but you also have to be prepared for another trainers best. You also have to understand what each and everyone of your pokemon can and cannot do. You may have 14 gym badges, but there is still a lot to learn. You don't think I battled like this overnight it took two years of hard work and to this day I'm always looking to perfect and change what I do," said Andrew.
"Thank you for the advice Andrew," said Jimmy.
"It's what I do. I try to help where I can make a trainer that much better," said Andrew.
"In the end I think your the right man for being the Champion," said Jimmy.
"Thanks for saying that," replied Andrew.
(After the Battle)
"If you two are interested in checking out our breeding center it would be a good day to do so," said Becky.
"If your up to it Andrew I would love to go," said Katie.
"I don't mind it lets go," replied Andrew.
Andrew, Katie, Becky and Jimmy got into a truck and drove over to Riverside to the breeding center. It was an hour drive and once they made it you could see all types of pokemon running round the ranch.
"Welcome to the Mather's Ranch," said Becky as Jimmy pulled the truck up and stopped.
After everyone got out of the car an older man no younger then 25 walked out of the house. He was in a sun bleached black hat and plaid shirt and grey worn out jeans. Under the hat he had a buzz cut.
"About time you two got back," said Derrick.
"It's fine Derrick. Jimmy had a battle against Andrew here," said Becky pointing to the guy that got out of the back.
"So Jim how'd you do?" asked Derrick.
"I lost," answered Jimmy.
Katie walked around the truck and joined Andrew. After Katie walked around Jimmy did to joining his girlfriend Becky. Derrick walked over to Andrew and Katie.
"Becky said she was going to bring some new friends over. You must be them," said Derrick.
"That would be us," replied Andrew.
"Who exactly are you two?" asked Derrick.
"Well Derrick that is Andrew and his girlfriend Katie," answered Becky.
Andrew flashed a look at Katie and then looked over at Derrick. He walked over to Andrew and shock his hand before leaving and heading over to a pin which had a couple Phanpy in it. He set a bowl down and feed the two Phanpy before walking over to the next pin and feeding the Tauros. Andrew and Katie followed Becky and Jimmy into the house. Inside the house they had eggs everywhere. After seeing the eggs in the house Becky and Jimmy showed them the outside which has pokemon separated into pins. They had Phanpy, Tauros, Miltank, Stanler, and some Piloswine. After seeing the pokemon outside they showed them the nursery which housed the newborn pokemon. Once inside her mom and dad were taking care of a Teddiursa. A middle-aged women set the pokemon down and walked over to Becky. She had her black hair pulled back and was in overalls that covered her plaid shirt.
"Hey Beck glad to see your back," said her mom.
"Hey mom these were the two we meet in Richmond the other day," said Becky.
"Hi I'm Trisha, but I prefer Mrs. Mather," said Trisha.
"Hi I'm Andrew and this is Katie," said Andrew.
"Nice to meet you both," said Trisha walking back over to the Teddiursa.
Her dad was the next one to walk over. He had a white hat on covering his bald head. He two was wearing a plaid shirt and jeans. His name was Josh. He introduced himself to Andrew and Katie before walking over to the Teddiursa.
"I know what you two should stay for dinner," said Becky.
"I think we can we'll leave after that," said Andrew.
After a short period everyone gathered outside in the back of the house. Becky's dad was grilling up some food while her mom was setting out the plates. After 20 minutes of waiting Becky's mom called everyone to the table. On one side of the table was Andrew, Jimmy, Derrick, and Mr. Mather. On the other side was Katie, Becky, Mrs. Mather.
"So Andrew what do you do other than battle?" asked Josh.
"Well Mr. Mather I'm the League Champion," answered Andrew.
"So basically you run the region for pokemon standpoint," said Josh.
"No, it's a group effort from top to bottom the only way the League can function is with help from people like that breed pokemon for this region," said Andrew.
After everyone had finished eating Mrs. Mather cleared the wooden table and dismissed everyone.
"Hey Katie can you walk with me for a minute?" asked Becky.
"Sure," answered Katie.
The two of them walked over to the Tauros bin and Becky started to talk to Katie. Andrew walked around the place with Jimmy.
"So Katie how long have you been going out with Andrew?" asked Katie.
"I'm not yet," answered Katie.
"What do you mean? I've not seen you two away from each since we meet you," asked Becky.
"Him and I had decided to wait till the Champions Cup was over for no interference could come from it," answered Katie.
"I begin to wonder if he'll even wait that long to ask you," said Becky.
"He will he's the one that said it," said Katie.
"I don't think so," replied Becky.
"If he does, he does," said Katie.
Andrew walked over after Katie said that and asked if she is ready to go and she said yes. Becky invited them back to tomorrow if they wanted to come. Andrew called out Flygon and he got on and helped Katie on before saying good bye and leaving.
(Back in Richmond)
It was 9:30 at night when they had got back to Richmond. They spent a good portion of the day at the breeding center and is was good to finally able to take break from it all. Andrew and Katie walked inside of the Pokemon Center and walked upstairs to take showers. After getting out of the shower they got ready for bed.
"So what did you and Becky talk?" asked Andrew.
"Girl stuff," answered Katie.
"I see," said Andrew.
The two of them went to bed shortly after that conversation. It was rather quiet night tonight.
Sorry for the long chapter, but this chapter marks the end of them in Richmond. the next chapter will be about Emma, Brady, and Zac arriving in Cincinnati. It will be two days like this one. On Monday we learned the reason on why the Goomy moved. With help from Andrew and Katie they now have a safe home away from the Zubat's. And on Tuesday we saw Andrew battle against Jimmy. Andrew won 5-0. We will see Jimmy again once the Champion's Cup comes around.
