(Monday Morning with Emma, Brady, and Zac)
Zac and Brady were the first two up at the small Pokemon Center they had stayed the night at. Zac was still annoyed about yesterday, but he wasn't going to let that get to him at the moment. He had other things on his mind his focus for now was to get to Cincinnati and win his 8th gym badge, he won't say it but he is also looking forward to seeing Katie again.
"Why isn't Emma up?" questioned Zac.
"She'll be up when she gets up," answered Brady.
"We should waked her up," Zac mentioned to Brady.
"I wouldn't if I were you," advised Brady fearing how cranky Emma could be.
"Then what are we going to do then?" Zac asked angrily towards Brady.
"It's not like we are not near a forest full of pokemon," Brady answered jokingly.
Zac got off the couch we was sitting on and walked into the forest just north of the town. It wasn't a very deep forest, and trees were on the small side and more spread out around the lake. This lake is a great fishing spot home to some good water pokemon. Zac had decided while he waited he would use the fishing rod he had with to catch something. Zac spent 30 minutes waiting for something to bite, but nothing did.
"So much for a legendary fishing spot," commented Zac thinking about the sign he saw.
Zac was just about to pack it in, but something finally bit he pulled that pokemon up and onto the land next to him. That pokemon was a Shellos. Since they were east it was a blue Shellos. This Shellos started to slide it's way back towards the lake, Zac had to act quickly if he wanted to capture it and he did. Zac called out his Magneton. This particular Shellos wasn't looking for a fight so he started to pick up the pace.
"Magneton use thunderbolt on Shellos," commanded Zac.
Zac's Magneton charged up and sent a bolt of thunder at Shellos. Shellos was hit and he let out a cry and came to a stop. he wild Shellos was now angry and sent out a bomb of mud from his mouth and at Magneton.
"Magneton your going to have to dodge quickly," commanded Zac with some concern knowing if that attack would hit it could end his Magneton.
Magneton moved out of the way of the mud bomb as it exploded on the ground and lathered the ground in mud. Magneton now unleashed another bolt of thunder at Shellos. Shellos had no where to go so he took the bolt and again let out another cry before falling to the ground in defeat. Zac took out a pokeball and tossed it in the direction of Shellos. The pokeball wiggled once and had stopped. Shellos was caught. Zac walked over to the pokeball and picked it up. Zac declipped his Baltoy's pokeball and put Shellos's pokeball in its place.
Zac walked back over to the Pokemon Center and saw that Emma was finally up and dressed ready to leave.
"Now that Zac is here we can leave," said Emma.
The three of them walk out of the Pokemon Center and head north. They walked through the forest Zac caught Shellos. the forest this time around was full of more life as in the tress there were some flying pokemon. In another tree there was an Aipom he was just hanging around by his tail.
"So Zac what did you do when you were here earlier?" questioned Brady.
"I just went fishing at the lake were coming up to," answered Zac.
"Did you catch anything?" asked Emma.
"Yeah I caught a Shellos," answered Zac.
The three of them walked up to the lake it was a lot busier this time then when Zac was here. There was about 10 people fishing hoping to catch a pokemon that could be useful. They walked over to the small bridge and crossed the lake and continued walking. After walking another hour they made it to the next town. They stopped and wanted to grab something to eat. That was till Emma got distracted in some of the flowers growing around the city.
(At the Next City)
Emma was examining the flowers near a the town's flower shop very closely and that's when she noticed they all were not just normal flowers some were pokemon. A young girl walked out of the flower shop in a pink dress walked out of the shop she was no more then 10, she walked over to Emma.
"Hello I'm Casey and this is my grandma's shop," greeted the girl.
"Hi I'm Emma. I'm just looking at the beautiful flowers you have," replied Emma.
After Emma said that an older lady walked out she was dressed in a plaid shirt and overalls she had gardening supplies in her bucket she was carrying.
"I thought you left Casey," said her grandma.
"Not yet, I'm just talking to this lovely girl I met looking at your flowers," replied Casey.
Her grandma looked over at Emma and walked over to her.
"Hi my name is Ethel and this is my flower shop," greeted Ethel.
"Nice to meet you I'm just looking at the flowers and I noticed that some were pokemon," replied Emma.
"Yes, some are Floette. The small pokemon help my garden look so beautiful especially in the fall when it's in full bloom," said Ethel.
Brady and Zac who were at the small Café across the street eating walked over to Emma who was still talking to Ethel.
"So Emma are these to strong gentlemen your friends?" asked Ethel.
"Yes they are," answered Emma.
"If you three are not that busy I could use some help in my garden," said Ethel.
"What would you like us to do?" asked Emma.
"I'm starting a new garden and I need some help turning the land and starting to plant," answered Ethel.
"Sure we can help," replied Emma.
"Great let's go then," commented Ethel.
Emma, Zac, and Brady followed Ethel and Casey over to Ethel's home. Out in the front yard there were about 6 rows of flowers and there was even more in the back.
"Don't you have anyone else to help?" asked Brady.
"Usually after school it's just Casey . Her older brother Marc is always busy," replied Ethel.
"Grandma you know Marc is part of the Pokemon League and that's why is he's never around," commented Casey.
"Wait a minute is it Marc Romeo?" asked Emma.
"Yep that would be the one," answered Ethel.
Ethel walked to the back and opened the fence to let Emma, Brady, and Zac into the back. Not only did Ethel grow flowers she also had a couple of berry trees. After letting them in Ethel walked over to the shed opened it and grabbed some shovels, she walked back over to Emma, Brady, and Zac and handed the two gentlemen the shovels. She handed Emma and Casey a rake.
"Ok we are going to remove the grass in this patch here, once he dig it up Emma and Casey will rake it into a pile to pick it up later," explained Ethel.
Brady and a reluctant Zac begun to dig up the patch, Emma and Casey raked into a pile. Ethel walked back over to the shed and wheeled out a wheelbarrow so Zac and Brady can put the grass into it. After two hours of tedious work they had finally dug up the grass leaving dirt there.
"Great job you too. Up next is we have turn the dirt with a hoe," explained Ethel handing the two of them a hoe.
"No, I'm tired of doing this work we're suppose to be on our way to Cincinnati not helping some old lady grow flowers," bursted out Zac.
"I'm not keeping you here young man. You can leave any time," replied Ethel.
After Ethel said that a strong Dragonite landed in the front yard it was Marc. He had came to visit his grandma. Marc walked into the back and saw the three of them helping out. Brady, Zac, and Emma stopped working and looked at him.
"Marc-y, What are you doing here?" asked Ethel who seemed overjoyed to see him.
"I had some time before my boss comes back and I thought I'd pay you a visit," answered Marc.
Marc walked over and hugged his grandma and then hugged his little sister. He then set his focus on Emma, Zac, and Brady.
"I found these three helpful people outside my flower shop and Emma here is in love with flowers and when I asked if they wanted to help they said yes," said Ethel.
"Thank you three," acknowledged Marc.
"Finally I can leave," said Zac dropping the hoe on the ground.
Marc stopped Zac before he could leave the yard. Marc wanted to give Zac a piece of his mind because he was showing his grandma some disrespect.
"Listen kid and listen good you need to learn some manners. I watched you get your ass kicked in battle by Andrew and yet you still talk like you have a stick up your ass. You need to learn some respect. I would have thought your battle with Andrew might have taught you some, but I was wrong. And know here we are I might have to teach you some," Marc said with some anger in his tone.
"And know let me tell you something. Your just a has been trainer who could have never beat a Champion in your life. Andrew felt sorry for you and gave you a chance on being part of his elite four," replied Zac.
"I thought you would have more expect for someone like me, but yet I was wrong again. If you keep up this snob-like attitude someone you'll battle will be less forgiving then Andrew was, and he or she will tell you off," said Marc.
"The only reason I lost to Andrew is got to over confident and my pokemon are not the same level as his. Once I'm able to win the Champion's Cup and battle him again I won't lose," responded Zac.
"I take it you've never seen him battle giving it his all. He will blow you out of the water. Hell I can blow you out of the water at that level. I did to I kid named Seth in Richmond I'll do it again to you," said Marc.
"I'm in no mood to battle you I'm actually waiting for my friends here to finish so we can beat 8th gym leader," replied Zac.
"I think it's best if all of you leave," said Marc.
All three of them leave the yard and out back into the city Ethel stops Emma and Brady before they could leave and gave her a pokeball with a pokemon inside. She gave Brady some berries after handing Emma that pokeball.
"Marc is usually even-tempered, but something about that Zac kid set him off. Let me tell you one think Marc will not forget him. Oh and pokemon inside is a thank you gift from me for all your help and I'll send the flowers you ordered to your mom and dad," said Ethel.
The three of them leave the town and on the road again. Emma was looking down at the pokeball Ethel gave her, she couldn't help to wonder what pokemon was inside. She could only guess that the pokemon was one that watched her garden, Emma had deiced once they get to the next city she would send back one of her pokemon and see what pokemon is inside the pokeball. After an uneventful 6 hour walk they made it to the next city they only stopped there to get some snacks before leaving again. Now that it was dark it would take them slightly longer to get to their next destination. That destination was Lynchburg, VA. Lynchburg was a small town known for the Pokemon Ranger Center that calls the city home. That ranger station occupies most of the town with the expectation of a small lab that works closely with the rangers and a small Pokemon Center who again spends time with the rangers.
(Another 4 Hour Walk)
After the stop for snacks and other things the three of them finally made it to Lynchburg and the first thing the pops out is the giant pokemon ranger building it was all lite up and full of life. Rangers were in and out almost the whole time the three of them observed it. They would have missed the Pokemon Center if it wasn't for them running into the nurse. She was just coming back from the Ranger Station. They followed her into the center.
"Good evening," greeted the Nurse.
"Do have any beds for the night?" asked Brady.
"Of curse we do," answered the Nurse.
The nurse showed the three of them to the beds and they set the down their bags down on the bed. Brady and Zac walked into the guys bathroom and took a shower while Emma did the same thing in the lady's bathroom. After getting dressed the three of them walked back into the bedroom and laid down. Zac looked up at the ceiling while the other two were asleep. He was still thinking about what Marc told him after a while he stopped thinking about it and went to bed.
(Tuesday)
Once again Brady and Zac were up before Emma was. For the most part Emma loved to sleep in the main reason she never did was Katie was always up early. Zac and Brady decided to watch some TV while they waited for Emma to get up. They were watching a talk show since that is what the nurse had on. The guest on the show was Pokemon League Commissioner Jen Morgan. She was talking what they knew had happened in Richmond she gave some info on how the Champion is doing and some info on the orbs. She didn't clearly come out and say the had been stolen. Before the show was over Emma had gotten up. There was still one thing she wanted to do and that was check the pokemon Ethel gave her yesterday. She first sent Herdier home and then walked outside. Brady and Zac left with her.
"Ok here we go," said Emma tossing the pokeball.
The pokeball opens and out pops a beautiful blue Floette she was hanging on to her flower smiling. Emma took out her pokedex and pointed it at Floette to check her moves. Her moves were: Sunny day, Solarbeam, magical leaf, energy ball, disarming voice, and petal blizzard.
"Great moves for such a small pokemon," commented Brady.
"I know, I just love it she is so cute," replied Emma.
Emma returned Floette and they walked to the next city, but as the exited they saw four pokemon rangers run past them in the direction of the forest. All the rangers were doing was a test. The four that ran past were not exactly rangers yet because shortly after the four ran by an older female with rad hair ran past too, but unlike the others she was the only Top Ranger at this Station. She was in the typical red attire and white shirt in black shorts she kept yelling at the other four explain what they had to do and that was capture one pokemon using their stylers. The three of them stopped for a moment then kept walking, Brady and Emma remembered meeting one pokemon ranger in Yosemite.
"Emma why'd you like that Floette so much?" asked Zac.
"It's so cute and powerful at the same time. Floette here can beat dragon type pokemon," Emma answered back.
"How can that tiny thing even beat a dragon?" Zac asked with some doubt.
"I guess good things come in small packages," laughed Emma.
After another long and boring 2 hour walk they made it to Charlottesville. Here they would catch the train that would get them to Cincinnati in 5 hours. The unfortunate part was that the next train wouldn't leave for another 2 hours so they were stuck there weather they liked it or not.
(In Charlottesville)
"What are we going to do for the next 2 hours?" asked Zac.
"We can just walk around and enjoy the town," answered Emma.
"I think I'll just go get some training in," replied Zac leaving.
Emma and Brady walked through town doing some window shopping. Once the two of them came up the bakery they saw a small brown pokemon run out with three loaves of bread in his mouth the shop owner runs out after him with a broom.
"Damn Swinup always my fresh bread," said the shop owner.
Brady and Emma walked over to him and he still was clearly pissed.
"What happened?" asked Brady.
"That damn Swinup snatched three loaves of my best bread," answered the shop owner.
"How often does it happen?" questioned Brady.
"More often then it should," replied the shop owner.
"Who owns the Swinup?" questioned Brady.
"I don't give a damn who does. I'm going to capture him and make him pay for that bread," replied the shop owner.
"We can help find that Swinup," said Brady.
"If you do I'll give you some of my freshest bread," replied the shop owner.
Emma and Brady started to follow the crumps of bread that lead them to a rundown mansion in outskirts of town. After examining the fence around the mansion they had seen a small hole that the Swinup must have gotten out with. Brady started to climb the fence when a young girl walks out she said nothing, but she opened the gate. Brady climbed down and walked inside the mansion, but the little girl that helped them was no where to be seen.
"That was odd," Brady noted.
"You can say that again she must move quick," replied Emma.
"What if it isn't a girl what about it being a ghost pokemon?" asked Brady.
"You're thinking to much into it. Let's just fine the Swinup and get out of here," replied Emma.
The two of them walked through the mansion and out to the dead garden. The two of them followed the crumbs till the came to the Swinup. That Swinup looked at the two of them and took down Brady before running back into the house. After the Swinup ran back into the house Brady got up and Emma and him ran back into the house, but this time it was considerably more cold in the house. It was like the AC was on. The two of them looked around and saw the little girl up the stairs signaling them to come here they walked up the stairs and followed the little girl into the room. Once inside the room the girl disappeared and appeared a Froslass, she was getting ready to freeze them till the Swinup shot a stone edge at here. The wild Froslass disappeared and the to of them looked down at the Swinup that just saved their life. Just then an old man walked into the room and greeted both Emma and Brady before questioning them.
"Hello and how'd you get into my house?" questioned the Old Man.
"A little girl let us in," answered Brady.
"It's just me and my pokemon here, most of them are ice pokemon and that's why its called in here, but no children," replied the Old Man.
"It was a little girl that let us in here," said Emma.
"I see it must have been my Froslass," said the Old Man.
"A Froslass?" puzzled Brady.
"Yes it was my wife's pokemon, she died many years ago and after she did I took care of her Froslass along side my Glalie. After her death I continued her life work which was to take care of those pokemon that could not and that why this Swinup is here," said the Old Man.
"Do you now it gets out and causes trouble in the city?" questioned Emma.
"It's hard to look after all these ice type pokemon I don't always keep track of them," replied the Old Man.
Brady looked down and seen the Swinup wanting him to pick him up and so he did. The Swinup snorted on him Emma and the Old Man laughed at him. The Swinup jumped down and tugged at him.
"If I didn't know any better I think he might want you to catch him," said the Old Man.
"He's not your pokemon?" asked Brady.
"Only the Froslass and the Glalie are mine the others are wild pokemon from the mountains just north of here," replied the Old Man.
Brady took an empty pokeball from his bag and tossed it at Swinup. It only wiggled once and he was caught. Brady is now the owner of the ice type pokemon Swinup.
"Let's get out of here before we miss our train," said Emma.
"You come back and visit now I'll be here or in Salem, Oregon," said the Old Man.
Brady and Emma left the mansion and once outside the gate the looked up and seen that same little girl again or just Froslass this time she waving good bye. The two of them walked back over to the Pokemon Center and meet up with Zac who was out back training his new pokemon Shellos. Before they left Brady sent back Gurdurr and he was now with Swinup. They walked past the bread and continued to the train yard. They showed their tickets and left towards Cincinnati. The only think the three of them wanted to do once they got to Cincinnati was to go check into a Pokemon Center and get some much needed rest. One thing still bugged them and that was who really was that old man.
(In Cincinnati)
The town was full of life because of the upcoming Pokemon Contest. It had many of the coordinators that wanted to take part in Richmond's contest but couldn't and some new ones. The only two that weren't there was Ally and Gabby they had deiced to just go to another contest altogether. After 5 long hours the train had finally came to a stop and the three of them were in Cincinnati and like stated they wanted to go and get some rest because tomorrow Katie will be back with them. So they can battle the gym leader and watch the contest before leaving again. The three of them walked over to the Pokemon Center and got some beds. Emma took a quick shower walked back downstairs sat at the table with Brady and Zac and ate the meal the Nurse made because the food on the train was not the best and they wanted a real meal. Brady and Zac wanted to walk over to the gym before they went to bed. After eating the two of them left.
"Brady can I ask you something?" asked Zac.
"Yeah I'm your friend you can ask me anything," replied Brady.
"I have been thinking and I want your opinion should I give up on trying to go out with Katie?" asked Zac.
"Honestly yeah I look at it like this if she has to choose between you or Andrew I know she'll choose Andrew every time. It maybe hard to understand, but you know what I said is true," answered Brady.
"I guess your right I'm going to tell her when she gets here tomorrow, and don't tell Emma please," said Zac with some disappointment in voice.
After walking around town for awhile the two of them returned to the Pokemon Center and saw Emma was asleep. The two of them took a shower and went to bed as well Zac didn't sleep well, he tossed and turned a lot really thinking about what he was going to tell Katie. He was having second thoughts too he liked Katie since he meet her when she was 15 and he was 16. After thinking about for another few moments he finally went to bed.
Yeah this is another one of those filler chapters. You know you love them and sure love writing them. (Just Kidding) The story gets back to it starting the next chapter when Katie is in Cincinnati and Andrew is back in DC. Next I want to take a moment and talk about the Old Man they ran into in Charlottesville is not really an old man. His name is actually Joel Thompson the 13th gym leader. He was just in disguise, he just messy with people that's just how he is.
