Episode 8

Lexi could feel the pounding in her head as she opened her eyes. She sat up slowly, clutching her hair and wishing that her head would stop that horrible sensation of spinning and hurting as if it was being banged against the wall. It wasn't for a few moments that she realized half of the banging was coming from her bedroom door. Dragging herself out of the bed, Lexi yanked the door open, ready to murder whoever was standing on the other side.

It was Conner. He was neatly dressed, hair freshly gelled back and a sweater clinging to his broad shoulders. Lexi blinked at him a few times before the blurriness in her vision disappeared. "Is that a v-neck?" she croaked. "Yuck, it's hurting my eyes."

Connor raised an eyebrow at her, before holding out a glass of water and a tablet. "Very funny. Look at you. You are not in a position to be commenting on my appearance. Take this, go brush your teeth and get in the shower. You're coming to class today."

"Fine." Lexi glared, and took the water and the tablet from him. She glanced at her alarm clock on the bedside table and her eyes widened. "What the hell? It's just 7 am. Class is at 9, you bastard, why would you even wake me up this early?"

Connor rubbed the back of his neck, looking a little sheepish. "To be honest, I didn't think it was going to be this easy. Last night you were going on about quitting work at Keating's, so I came here prepared to drag you out of bed and carry you to class myself." He seemed amused when Lexi gave him a horrified look. "Don't remember much of what you said last night, huh?"

Lexi took the tablet and set the glass of water down. "Not a word," she admitted quietly. "Look, you don't have to worry. I'm fine. I can handle this. Asher Millstone is invisible to me, okay?"

"Well, It's better than what you were saying yesterday," Conner admitted, before shoving Lexi toward the bathroom. "Go brush your teeth and shower, we'll even have time to stop for breakfast if you don't take too long."

Lexi rolled her eyes. "We'll have time to eat breakfast thrice considering how early it is," she grumbled, but she grabbed her towel and let Conner push her into the bathroom.

"It's like a clip out of a horror movie," Connor commented as they filed out of class, having just watched the clip of Gretchen Thomas dragging her bloody nanny out of the house and trying to clean her up with a hose. He noticed that Lexi's face was pale and her lips were pursed tightly. She was clearly upset and Connor frowned. He couldn't be sure whether it was the fact that Asher Millstone was only a few feet away, or if the video had disturbed her that much. "Lex, are you-"

"Hey," a voice greeted quietly. Asher had caught up to them; his expression was hesitant, and he was looking straight at Lexi. She didn't even glance at him. "Lexi, are you okay? You don't look so good-"

Connor rolled his eyes. He should have known that Asher would never leave Lexi in peace. "Get lost, man," he said defensively, putting a hand on Lexi's shoulder and pulling her away from Asher. To his surprise, Lexi shook his hand off. She turned to look at Asher with a smile so fake that it was almost painful to watch. "I'm just fine, Asher. How are you?" she asked politely.

Asher blinked. He had been expecting her to ignore him, or maybe glare at him and give him the finger. The very last thing he had expected from Alexis Gray was… civility. Asher stood there for a moment, gaping at her, before the rush of students behind them pushed Lexi and Connor out of sight. He had no idea how to go about trying to get Lexi to forgive him.

Taking a deep breath, he followed Annalise Keating and the rest of her posse to the home of Gretchen Thomas.

"Since we can't put Gretchen on the stand, we're having the people who love her- her family, testify to her history of sleepwalking," Bonnie explained as she handed over files to all of them in Annalise Keating's living room. Lexi took her file monotonously, feeling a sudden disinterest in both the file in front of her, and the case in general. "So tomorrow, each of you will act as prosecutors, prepping each of the Thomases for their moment in the sun."

Lexi moved away to sit in an armchair near Wes; he was the only one whom she could really stand to be around at the moment. Despite her attempt to distance herself, Lexi could still faintly hear Michaela complaining about the amount of work that Annalise was assigning them.

"I was fine with it before exams, but now that everyone else in our class is locked away in their apartments studying, we're falling behind working as free labour," Michaela whined. Lexi ignored her, instead turning to look at Wes, who was already reading the file.

"How's exam prep going for you?" she asked him quietly.

Wes opened his mouth to respond, but he was cut off by Connor kneeling in between both their armchairs. He looked from Lexi to Wes with a hopeful grin. "Hey. You two want to study group this weekend?" he asked in a low voice.

Wes raised an eyebrow. "Since when do you need to study?"

"He doesn't. He just wants to make sure Michaela doesn't top the class," Lexi explained, glancing at Connor. "I like your motives. I'm in."

"Great," Conner said with a grin, patting her arm before turning to Wes. "Come on, waitlist. What about you? We'll make a great team, eh?"

Wes looked thoughtful, but he was prevented from responding by Bonnie announcing that Annalise wanted to see him. He stood up and left, while Connor climbed up into Wes' vacated chair and leaned over to talk to Lexi. "Hey. That was a pretty smooth move you made with Millstone in the morning. How did you manage to act so calm? I can't make sense of it, you were a complete wreck last night."

Lexi stiffened slightly. Connor had no idea how difficult it was to even look at Asher. The moment he had approached her that morning, her heart had started thudding uncontrollably. "Look, stop treating me like a baby. You don't have to clean up after my breakups, I can handle it just fine," Lexi replied sharply. Connor seemed a little surprised, but he leaned away.

"All right. If you say so."

Lexi glanced at Connor, and, unable to resist rubbing salt in the wound, asked, "How's Oliver?"

Connor frowned as he casually opened his file. "I don't know. Do you have to bring him up?"

Lexi raised an eyebrow at him. "Hey. I don't know if you think that we're all buddy-buddy again and we're going to help each other through our breakups. You might have been right about Asher, but that doesn't change the fact that you've been a complete ass for the past couple weeks."

"Fair enough," Connor replied lightly. "You'll want to be my friend soon."

The trial went terribly; Cody revealed on the stand that he'd been sleeping with Elke, which caught everyone unawares. Annalise was furious when they came out of the courtroom, and exploded at both Connor and Bonnie. Lexi felt a sudden rush of pity for Connor. As arrogant as he'd been acting, he was going through just as much as Lexi was. Not to mention that he'd been trying to help her with her problems as well.

"Hey," Michaela said later that night, as they all sat in Annalise's living room, poring over files. Lexi could feel her head drooping onto the table, but she looked up when Michaela began speaking to Connor. "How's it feel to have your ass handed to you just days before she hands out our final grades?"

Lexi sighed. "For God's sake, Michaela, don't you have studying to be doing?"

Connor glanced at Lexi, seeming mildly amused that she was defending him despite assuring him that they weren't friends barely a few hours ago. He turned back to Michaela lightly. "I'm not worried. Because I got a copy of the exam that she gave last year," he said with a grin, holding up a sheaf of papers. "And I'm happy to share it with my new study group if they have things to give me in return."

Wes perked up. "I'll trade you all my notes."

"I'll give you copies of all Kan's old outlines," Laurel offered.

Lexi blinked when Connor turned to her with a raised eyebrow expectantly. "I'll bring an unlimited supply of Adderall and caffeine, and I'll forgive you for being an ass."

"Deal," Connor replied, as he handed all three of them copies of the paper. He turned to look at Michaela apologetically. "Sorry. I think four is enough for this study group."

Laurel hurried out of the room as the phone rang, and Lexi sighed, glancing down at the pile of work in front of her. There was too much to get done, and no time. Finally, she closed the files in front of her and stood up. "Anyone else want coffee?" she asked. Everyone in the room grunted in approval and she went into the kitchen quietly. She had just begun to pull a few mugs down from the shelves when she heard footsteps behind her.

"Do you need any help?" Asher asked quietly. He was standing in the doorway, wearing a red sweater and with his arms in his pockets. His stance was casual, but Lexi could see the tension in his shoulders. She turned away so that she wouldn't have to look at him.

"I can handle a few cups of coffee," she replied cheerfully. "But thank you."

"Would you stop this?" Asher asked. He sounded torn; his voice cracked and Lexi turned again to see that he was looking at her desperately. He stepped forward, his eyes pleading. "Please. Scream at me, or slap me, but I can't take this… this pleasantness!"

Lexi raised an eyebrow at him coolly. "My good manners bother you?"

"No, your indifference bothers me!" Asher insisted. He moved forward so that he was standing beside her. Lexi stepped away quickly; her panic was starting to rise. She couldn't be this near him in a closed space, alone. She needed to have complete control over her actions, she couldn't show the slightest sign of weakness. Asher stood in front of her, his eyes red. "Lexi, I know what I did can't be fixed overnight. I know it'll take a long time for you to trust me again, and I'm willing to wait and prove to you that you can trust me. But… I need you to show some emotion. I can't hold on if you're going to greet me with these fake sunny smiles every day like nothing matters to you."

"I refuse to change my behaviour to suit your needs," Lexi snapped. But the moment she did it, she saw the smile of relief on Asher's face and knew that she'd lost. She had shown anger, and anger would cool down over time. Her hands moved gripped the kitchen counter. "I can't deal with this now. I have a lot on my mind. I don't need you making things more difficult by making me play these games."

Asher nodded. "Yeah, I know. Do you want my class notes for the exam? I'd made outlines when we were doing Habeas Corpus and writ petitions-"

"Stop it," Lexi snapped.

Asher blinked in surprise. "What? I'm trying to help make your life less difficult-"

"Well, what you're doing is making it more difficult. I can't refuse an offer to lend me notes if I want to pass this exam. At the same time if I take help from you, then that would signify that I'm willing to attempt to fix things between us and I'm not."

Asher sighed. He leaned against the counter slightly, moving his face closer to hers. "Lexi, I'm not stupid enough to believe that a couple of class notes are going to make you forgive me. I'm not taking the exam myself, so I don't mind you having them. I'll bring them tomorrow, okay?"

"I don't want them," Lexi replied stiffly. She pulled down the sugar container and set it on the counter while she waited for the coffee to finish. Asher stood there quietly, staring at her. Lexi waited silently for him to leave, but he didn't move. "Why are you still here?" she asked finally.

Asher sighed. "I want you to hear me out."

"Okay, you know what?" Lexi snapped. She completely dropped the civility. It was too difficult. Just the sight of Asher Millstone looking down at her was making her blood boil. There was no way she could stay composed any longer. "You are lucky that I am willing to stand in the same room as you right now. Do not try to start making excuses for what you did, or I will hit you."

"I don't want to make excuses," Asher replied firmly. "But you can't pronounce judgement on me based on something Connor told you. You never heard me out. Audi Alteram Partem, remember? The very basis of our legal system? You have to hear the other side."

Lexi whirled around to face him incredulously. "You want a fair trial?"

"That's exactly what I want."

"Life isn't as fair as our legal system, Asher," Lexi snapped. She began to pour the coffee out into different mugs. Her head was beginning to ache. What kind of stupid games did Asher want to play? "I have a lot of work to do and I'm fucking exhausted. I don't have time for this."

"It won't take a lot of your time," Asher replied. He began to shift her finished cups of coffee onto the tray. When she had made all the cups, Asher reached out and gently grasped her hand. He looked straight at her, his eyes pleading. "Lexi, please. You are the only girl I have ever been in love with. Even if you never forgive me, I need to know that I did everything in my power to get you back or I won't be able to live with myself for letting you go."

Lexi stared at him for a long moment. His hand was warm, and his dark eyes made her head feel light as he looked at her intensely. She could feel her resolve weakening. "Fine," she mumbled. "Have your stupid trial. Make your arguments. But I'm not making any promises."

Asher grinned. "I know."

"Maybe you should come," Connor suggested, as the car stopped outside the Thomas residence. Lexi was driving, her hand on the steering wheel as she waited for Connor to unbuckle his seatbelt. "You're a pretty young college girl. Cody might be more willing to talk to you than me, you know? You can flash him or something."

"I'm not doing your job for you," Lexi replied simply, handing Connor his jacket. "Besides, there's a huge pile of work waiting for me at Keating's, I need to get there. Hurry, get out of the car before you make me late."

"Figured you'd take any excuse not to have to be around Millstone," Connor replied.

"Just go," Lexi replied, as Connor opened the car door and got out. She waited in the driveway for a short moment before turning the ignition and driving as quickly as possible towards Annalise Keating's house. She felt exhausted. She couldn't handle classes and work and exams all at once. Lexi was wondering if the shooting star was really Michaela, or if it would turn out to be her. She entered the house, only to see that Michaela and Laurel were already at work. Wes and Asher were talking quietly in a corner.

Asher glanced up and made eye contact with Lexi; he waved her over quickly and she set her bag down on the couch before pulling up an armchair closer to them. "What is it?" she asked quietly.

"Regarding the case of Gray v. Millstone, I would like to present my first witness- Wesley Gibbins," Asher replied, waving a hand somewhat dramatically in Wes' direction. Wes, who was poring over some notes, barely glanced up to acknowledge Asher. He seemed uninterested.

"I told you, I'm busy," Wes mumbled. "Can we do this some other time?"

Asher shook his head. "Come on, it'll only take a couple minutes. Here- I need you under oath." He shoved a Bible in Wes direction and made him put his hand on it. "Do you solemnly swear that you will tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth, so help you God?"

Wes looked up, clearly annoyed. "If it will get rid of you in the next two minutes, yes."

"Okay- were you present on the night in question, when yourself, Asher Millstone and Connor Walsh went to the Thirsty Whale to interrogate Wendy Parks' assistant?" Asher asked smoothly.

"Yes," Wes replied, his eyes still fixed on his notes. Lexi was merely starting at Asher in disbelief. She couldn't believe that he was actually doing this. He was producing witnesses to make his case? Part of her felt annoyed, while the other was slightly amused that he was going through all this effort to convince her to forgive him. She loved how playful and dumb he could be; he always surprised her with his over-dramatic behaviour and ability to make her laugh with his stupidity.

"Did you, at any point in time, gather from Asher Millstone's behaviour that he intended to sleep with anyone from the bar that night?" Asker asked. Lexi sighed. She didn't want to listen to the exact story of what happened the night Asher cheated on her. But she had promised she would hear him out; she couldn't refuse to listen to the facts now. But she could make it as difficult for him as possible.

"Objection- speculation," she replied calmly, before Wes could respond. Asher looked at her in surprise.

"Fine. Mr. Gibbins, can you describe the woman at the bar whom Asher later approached?" Asher asked.

Wes looked up with a sigh. "She was the temp at Wendy Parks' office. She was short, had a bob-cut and slightly protruding teeth and looked pretty nerdy." He glanced back at his notes. "Are we done now?"

"Not yet," Asher replied, sounding a little more confident. He gave Lexi an almost triumphant grin. "Would you describe the girl as unattractive?"

"Yes."

"What did Asher Millstone say to you before he approached this girl?"

Wes flipped a page of his notes absent-mindedly. "I don't know- uh, I guess he said that she looked nerdy and that she would probably be easier to coerce information out of because she seemed desperate. Or something to that effect."

"Did he indicate that he intended to have sex with the girl to obtain said information?"

"No, he never said anything about sex," Wes replied. "Are we done now? I need to finish this set of cases by tomorrow and you're really not helping-"

Asher cut him off impatiently. "We're almost done. Now-was Asher Millstone under the influence of alcohol that night?"

"Yeah, he was pretty drunk."

"And did he express irritation towards Connor Walsh, who was also drunk and did not question Ally Burnham in the manner he was supposed to, instead talking about his ex-boyfriend?"

"Yes."

"Would you agree, then, that Asher Millstone's sole purpose at the bar that night was to obtain information from one of Wendy Parks' assistants, and that he expressed no intention of sleeping with any of them?"

Wes glanced up. "Yes."

"And, being under pressure from Annalise Keating and the influence of alcohol, he may have been so determined to achieve this goal that he did everything in his power to fulfil it?" Asher asked.

Lexi cut him off sharply. "Objection. Witness is not qualified to speak about the mental state or motives of the accused, unless explicitly expressed to him."

Asher looked a little disappointed, but he gave in. He glanced at Lexi, noticing that she seemed slightly amused. The corner of her mouth was turned up in a small smile, and he wondered if maybe his efforts were working. He finally sat up straight, and turned to face Lexi. "Well, in that case, I'm done. Does the prosecution have any questions for the witness?"

"Yes," Lexi replied. She turned to face Wes, her expression slightly hard. "Did Asher Millstone sleep with Wendy Parks' temp?"

Wes nodded. "He did."

"No further questions," Lexi replied, pushing her armchair back and walking over to another couch, where she pulled a few files out of her bag and curled up with a highlighter to start reading them. Asher watched her for a few moments, before quietly turning back to his own work.

"Well. I think there was a lesson to be learnt from all that," Connor mumbled, as they watched Mr. Thomas escorted out of the courtroom in handcuffs. Annalise Keating had just successfully proved that he was responsible for the murder of the nanny, and not Gretchen. They walked out of the courthouse, feeling the sort of emptiness they always felt once a case was over.

"What lesson?" Lexi asked with a frown. "Don't sleep with the nanny?"

"Use protection," Connor replied bluntly. He gestured towards a coffee shop across the street from the courthouse. "What do you think, do we have time to stop? My head is aching, I need caffeine." Lexi nodded and they both went inside, ordering coffee and then sitting down. Connor glanced at the door. "Great. What does he want?"

"Hm?" Lexi glanced up and saw that Asher had followed them into the coffee shop. He immediately headed towards them, sliding into the booth beside Lexi. Connor looked mildly irritated, while Lexi slowly shifted away from him. She could smell the familiar scent of his cologne; and it reminded her vividly of mornings spent naked lying in Asher's bed. "Asher, what do you want?"

"I need Connor to give sworn testimony," Asher replied, glancing at Connor. Connor looked bewildered, while Lexi shook her head in disbelief. She wasn't going to sit and listen to Asher interrogate Conner- that would just be painful.

"Are you kidding? He was wasted that night, nothing he says can possibly be admissible," Lexi replied sharply.

"Fine- he'll be a character witness," Asher replied. Lexi laughed, shaking her head. Was he insane? He wanted Connor to testify to his character? They hated each other! Yet, Asher calmly pulled out the same Bible that he had made Wes swear on, and placed it in front of Connor. "Do you solemnly swear that you will tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth, so help you God?"

Connor was looking between Lexi and Asher as though they were insane. "Hell, no. I have no idea what's going on here. Why are you carrying around a Bible, Millstone?"

"I have been accused of cheating. All I want is a fair trial, so I need you to answer a few questions, that's it," Asher replied.

Connor rolled his eyes. "I refuse. Bring me a subpoena and then we'll talk."

"His Dad's a judge, he could probably make that happen," Lexi mused, before looking at Connor. This was already getting too painful. She wanted to get this stupid trial over with so that she could stop having to deal with Asher and be constantly remembered of how he'd cheated on her. She gave Connor a pleading look. "Just do it, Connor, please. He won't leave either of us alone until we do."

Connor looked at Lexi for a long moment. "Fine," he grumbled, agreeing to take the oath. Asher quickly put the Bible back inside and then turned to face him determinedly.

"All right. Connor Walsh. On the night in question, before you went to the Thirsty Whale, did you and Asher Millstone have a brief conversation about Alexis Gray in Keating's office?"

Connor raised an eyebrow. "Yes, we did."

"Can you describe what this conversation entailed?"

Connor sighed and put his coffee down. "I can't believe I'm doing this. Yes, Asher was upset that his girlfriend had yelled at him earlier that day. He felt it was my fault and he wanted me to make up with her so that Lexi would start talking to him again."

Lexi frowned. Was he really going to make the argument that he had cheated on her because she'd been mad at him that day? She glared at Asher, and cut him off. "Objection- relevance?" she demanded. If he was really going to start claiming it was her fault, she would spill the hot coffee in her hands all over his pants and walk out of the coffee house in a second.

"It's not what you think," Asher assured her. He turned back to Connor. "Mr. Walsh, was this the first time you and Asher Millstone had a conversation concerning Ms. Gray?"

"No."

"Can you recollect any instances when Mr. Millstone may have come to you for advice about his relationship?"

"Sure. He asked me what kind of flowers and chocolate she liked and shit like that," Connor replied.

"How about something more significant?"

Connor raised an eyebrow at Asher. He seemed a little hesitant to speak, and Lexi suddenly wondered if both of them knew something that she didn't. Finally, Connor set his coffee down. "Look, Millstone, are you sure you want me to-"

"Yeah, answer the question."

"Fine, if that's what you want," Connor replied. "Around the time of the David Allen trial, Asher Millstone asked me if it was a good idea to ask Lexi to move in with him. I told Asher he was insane and that if he wanted to freak her out, then to go ahead. He asked me about it a couple of times and then he made me swear not to say anything about it."

Asher glanced at Lexi, whose eyes had gone wide. Then he slowly turned back to Connor. "Why did you agree to keep this a secret when you were a close friend of Lexi's?"

"Because it was insane," Connor replied. "It was bad enough that Lexi was sleeping with this guy and she'd introduced him to her parents. I didn't want any more crazy ideas in her head about getting serious with Asher. She deserved better."

Asher was silent for a long moment. He turned and looked at Lexi, whose hands were trembling slightly as she clutched the coffee cup. He could see that it had affected her; she seemed troubled and Asher felt the urge to reach over and hug her tightly. Instead, he quietly asked, "Does the prosecution have any questions for the witness?"

"Yes," Lexi replied in a shaky voice. She turned to look at Connor. "On the night in question, did Asher Millstone sleep with Wendy Parks' te-"

"Objection. Hearsay," Asher cut her off quietly. "You said it yourself, the witness was too drunk to testify to anything that happened that night."

"Then I have no further questions," Lexi replied. She took a long sip from her coffee, before standing up. "If you'll excuse me, I have other work to be doing."

"I can't believe you're letting him put you through this crap," Connor whispered later that evening, as they headed towards Wes' house for a study group. Lexi was sitting in the passenger side of Connor's SUV, her gaze fixed on a textbook in her hands. Connor glanced over at her. "We're going there for the sole purpose of studying, you don't need to study on the way there too."

"Shut up," Lexi snapped. She glanced around and slowly closed her book as Connor followed the GPS onto a different street. "Look, Asher wouldn't get off my back about it, okay?. He started talking about all this Audi Alteram Partem stuff, you know I can't stand it when someone questions my legal integrity. What sort of neighbourhood is this? Are you sure Wes lives here?"

"The GPS lady is never wrong," Connor replied with a sigh. "I hope you're not afraid of rodents, Lex."

Lexi groaned. "Of all the things that could go wrong today." She took a deep breath, resting her head against the window. She glanced at Connor out of the corner of her eye. "Was Asher really going to ask me to move in with him?" she asked quietly.

Connor raised an eyebrow. "It doesn't change the fact that he cheated on you."

"No," Lexi mumbled. "It doesn't. If anything, it makes it worse."

"I can't believe I'm saying this," Connor muttered, as he took another turn. "But maybe you should try and work things out with Millstone. He made a mistake, and he did it for a reason. It happens to the best of us. You don't need to forgive him immediately, but you should at least let him try to make it up to you."

"Since when have I ever taken your advice on relationships?" Lexi demanded.

"Never. But you could start now."

Lexi shook her head. She wanted to fix things with Asher so badly, but she wasn't going to do it on Connor's word. His advice always had some hidden intention behind it. "I don't think so. The only reason you want me to forgive Asher is because you'd like to believe that Oliver would forgive you if you grovelled. Forget it. I'll deal with Asher on my own terms."

"Fair enough," Connor replied, pulling up outside a shady-looking apartment building. "Well, here it is. Get your stuff; I wonder if I still have that bug spray in the trunk, looks like we might need it…"

Lexi sighed, stuffing her books in her bag and stepping out of the car. Just as she was about to slam the car door shut, though, her phone rang loudly. She pulled it out and saw a goofy picture of Asher making one of his weird faces. It made her stomach turn. She needed to delete that picture as soon as possible. Connor glanced at Lexi and she sighed. "You go ahead. I'm gonna take this, or he'll keep calling while we're studying."

"Suit yourself," Connor replied. He made a slightly disgusted face as he pulled open the door to the building and went inside. Lexi retook her seat in the passenger's side of Conner's SUV, and answered the phone.

"What do you want, Asher? I'm at study group."

"I'm sorry," Asher replied, sounding upset. "I thought this trial might lighten things up between us but it's not working the way it's supposed to. I know I'm putting you through a lot of trouble and pain by doing this."

"Then why don't you stop it?" Lexi demanded.

"I want to. Can you come over tonight? I'll just make my closing arguments and let you go."

Lexi hesitated. She leaned back in her seat. "Asher, if you think I'm going to come over to your house at this time of night, then you're insane. I'm not that stupid. Besides, I have study group, they're waiting for me."

"It'll only take a couple of minutes," Asher promised. He sounded desperate. "And you don't need to be afraid that something will… look, there's a party at my place starting in about 45 minutes, okay? So obviously it won't exceed that. Just please come over?"

Lexi took a deep breath. "I'll come over in ten minutes on one condition."

"What's that?"

"If I decide not to forgive you tonight, then you promise to leave me alone. No calling, texting, or even speaking to me about anything that's not strictly work-related. I need to know that you won't just start bothering me again after all this is over."

"I promise," Asher mumbled.

"Fine. I'll see you in ten."

Lexi hung up the phone, just in time to see Rebecca rush out of the apartment building, looking agitated. She raised an eyebrow, wondering what was up with that.

A/N – Sorry I haven't updated in forever. Truth is, I don't really know where this story is going anymore. The events of the second half of the first season really threw me off, especially regarding Bonnie/Asher. I mean, I thought I could work them sleeping together once into the story, but at this point, I can't really stick to canon without Asher coming off as a huge asshole. Do you guys have any suggestions? Should I pretend Bonnie/Asher never happened or should I try to work it in?
