:Apartment For Rent:
She looked around the empty apartment while she waited on the landlord to fix a busted lock on the second floor. It was a bit small, but she liked the layout. She heard a noise behind her, and turned to find two men watching her.
One was tall and skinny, with killer blue eyes. The other was shorter, and sort of cute in a Fozzy Bear kinda way. They greeted her (several times) in a shy, awkward kind of way. She smiled at the obvious attraction in the shorter guy's eyes. The taller one could barely meet her eyes. She wasn't stupid; she knew what she looked like. After the disaster that was Kurt, it was kinda nice to feel sexy again.
After a minute or two more, the guys retreated to the apartment across the hall so Penny wandered into the bedroom to look at the closet space. She was just looking into the bathroom when someone knocked on the door.
She walked back into the living area and opened the door. Then the awkwardness from earlier was replaced with a whole new kind of awkward. Curry, bowel movements and a lunch invitation left her cringing internally, all the while trying to gracefully decline. The guys went back across the hall just as the landlord came up the stairwell. He nodded to them as the taller one shut the door.
"So," he said in a friendly manner. "What do you think?"
Penny looked around the apartment again, and then across at 4A. "Thanks for letting me look at the apartment, but I think I'm going to pass."
The landlord nodded and walked her back down to the lobby. He waved as she walked away and then went into his office. He settled behind his desk and sighed. "I'm never going to rent that apartment out with those two across the hall," he muttered.
