This is it, y'all... :'( Oh my goodness. I was literally just thinking about when I'd started writing this. It's been so long. I really enjoyed writing Eternal. It started off as a small idea, and well, it blossomed. I honestly didn't think I could do it, but I did! I hope that you all did as well, and will continue to support me in my future stories! I really, really appreciate all of the support and reviews I've received; you guys make it all worth it. (I'd like to thank the academy...) No but I'll stop right there haha. Enjoy the last bit of Eternal!
Epilogue
Patch's POV
Present
We were in the bathroom, getting ready to go out with Ezra and Nehemiah for drinks. I was quietly singing "La Vie en Rose", and Nora was quietly listening while she massaged something into her hair. She'd been asking me questions all day, but the moment she heard me singing, she went silent.
"When, you kiss me, Heaven sighs, and though I close my eyes, I see La Vie en Rose,"
It's a short song, so eventually I began humming it.
"You rarely sing…I love your voice, Patch. Honestly. You should sing more. It makes you so relaxed. I like to see you relaxed." She whispered.
"Maybe." I turned and smiled. "I could sing more often…if you wore that dress more often."
She was wearing this lovely dark blue cocktail dress that clung to her shape, and made her look absolutely sumptuous. Especially with her hair curling over one shoulder…yummy.
She giggled and smacked my arm. We were quiet, and then she suddenly popped out with a question.
"So, on Cheshvan, you don't have to possess a Nephil, but they're sworn to you so if you choose to, they can't stop you?"
I rose my eyebrows. Nora looked at me with stern eyes, eyes that demanded an answer.
"Well, yes. Of course, there's a very strong drive to possess a Nephil. I know for me, it was a craving. I don't have that craving anymore, though." I answered quickly. We'd been talking all day, and suddenly we were on this topic. Was she afraid I wanted to possess her?
"Angel, I don't want to possess you anymore. Well, I do, but not in the way that the fallen take a Nephil."
Nora sighed, then took a deep breath.
"I have an idea."
"I know. I've seen you burning oil over there for a while now. What is it?"
"I…I want to swear fealty to you."
I was speechless. Did pigs just start flying? This had to be a first under Heaven. No Nephil had ever said that. Maybe I was hearing things.
"Ha! You're speechless. Never thought I'd see the day I shocked you," she teased, nervous.
"Say that again," I said slowly.
"I want to swear fealty to you, Patch. That way, I'll stop aging (because that's an issue too, soon), and I'll always be yours. No one else can ever have me. I'll be safe from possession. Of course, I'll have to find a way to explain it to the Nephilim higher-ups, but honestly we've pulled through worse, right?"
It made sense, but I was still shocked. I jumped when she cut her hand with a pocket knife, fell to her knees and grabbed my hand.
"What do I say?"
"Nora, honestly. You don't have to do this…" Her explanation made sense, but it just felt so…wrong.
"Do you not want to? We don't have to if it bothers you…I just thought…well…" Her eyes looked so rejected, so sad, and I decided that I'd give her what she wanted.
"Are you sure that you won't regret this later Nora?" I asked her sternly.
"It's for you. I'd never regret it."
I paused, letting the sweetness of her words sink in. Slowly, I cut my hand. Lord, I become your woman.
"Lord, I become your woman." We placed our hands together.
She paused there, flinching.
"That's it?"
"That's it."
Nora began laughing, slowly, then in full gulps, gasping for air.
"That was relatively painless. I can't believe it!" she cried, relieved.
I kneeled on the ground next to her, and began to hold her while she laughed, chuckling.
"Thank you, Nora. I'm honored that you trust me so much. I…I don't know how to repay this."
She stopped laughing and held my face. "I'll make sure to remind you when I want something. We've got all eternity." she teased.
I rolled my eyes and lifted her up from the ground. "Let's start now,"
"Patch! Put me down! My purse!" she shrieked. I picked up her purse and shoes, not putting her down.
We both were laughing as I closed the door behind us.
Chauncey's Diary
Everything is ready.
I've found myself the perfect spy. Elliot Saunders has been perfectly groomed to my designs. When I found him, he was being bullied at Kinghorn Prep for being less than wealthy enough to attend. I became a patron to him, and he soon became indebted to me. The only problem was this girl. He was obsessed with her, and I knew that she would distract him. I told him that I'd either stop being his benefactor, or she had to go. I knew he'd be perfect when he chose the money. He's a despicable human being, and will serve me well. He cannot get out of his service to me, either. I threatened that if he ever tried to defect in any way, I'd tell the police that he'd raped and killed Kjirsten Halverson. He has been steadily faithful.
As for Hank, I've left some of the bigger business to him. He has been more than effective, and I must say I've grown proud of his ability to lead. Proud, yet suspicious. The only reason I've decided to leave some of my bigger deals to him is because my chance to defeat Patch means so much more to me. If he tries anything, he shall be reminded of my absolute power.
I'm ready to end it all. When Patch is down, I shall make sure he's chained in my warehouse, alone, for the rest of eternity.
This is going to be my most important conquest.
Patch's POV
April
Everything is ready.
That was the only thought getting me through the extremely boring day. I thought of Rixon, who laughed at me every morning I had to say "No, I can't go, I have school." Honestly, this would be worth nothing else at any other time.
I looked up at the sound of Vee Sky, and I knew my day just became that much more interesting. Finally.
"…all the evidence I'd need to get the board of education to ax biology…" she complained. I turned away from the blonde, and glimpsed at the beautiful red-head that was listening to her.
"Why, Vee, I could have sworn you've been looking forward to this unit all semester." Nora Grey teased.
She has, and so have I, I wanted to answer. They continued talking until the teacher made everyone quiet down. This man could give a damn about this class, but he taught it because he knew that he couldn't be a coach if he didn't try. His mind was non-surprisingly dull, and easy to control.
"That won't be a part of tonight's homework." He answered some smart-assed kid. I sat up slightly straighter, focusing on him.
Change the seats. Everyone on the left, move one seat up. Now.
Vee Sky began complaining. "You can't pull this kind of stuff off now!"
I smirked, and began to speak through the coach.
"I can pull this stuff clear up to the last day of the semester. And if you fail this class, you'll be right back here next year, where I'll be pulling this kind of stuff all over again."
I knew that Vee Sky wasn't doing too well without her friend, so this would annoy her. Finally, the coach blew his whistle and officially commanded us to move. Nora Grey turned to look at the room behind her, and glimpsed at me for a moment. I stood, grabbed my book, and sat next to her.
"Hi, I'm Nora." She said, smiling.
Hi, I'm Patch, and you are the most beautiful girl I've ever seen. Also, I'm here to sacrifice you. Beautiful self or not. Friends?
I grinned, unable to control my amusement at the thought. My evil intentions must have shown on my face, because she turned away, uncomfortable.
Yes, Nora Grey, your reality ends today.
This was going to be my most important, and interesting conquest.
Till next time! Please stick around for future stories, and if you have any ideas for some other Hush, Hush stuff, let me know (I'll see what I can create). Feel free to message me!
Much love,
