Chapter 22: Wayne.

Ally practically tore the cupboard doors from the cupboards. She threw everything that she didn't need behind her shoulders. She and Frederick had dragged Dez back to the town nearby and put him on the table. Frederick needed to get the bullet out of Dez's shoulder quickly. She'd given him a few medical supplies that were in her bag, but they were only medicines and bandages. He needed something to get the bullet out.

"Frederick all I can find is a knife!" She yelled and her whole body was shaking in a panic frenzy.

"That's fine, give it here," He held out his hand and she gave it to him. Fredrick took off his jacket and threw it on the floor. He began to examine the wound and Ally felt a wave of sickness wash over her. Dez was white and pale, sweat pouring down his face. His eyes were clamped shut, he looked peaceful in a sense, but Ally knew that once he wakes up, he won't be at peace.

Ally tuned away from the scene and she stared out of the window. The sun had set and the stars had come out. Creepers were dragging their dead weight bodies around and Ally could still see that goddamn tank from earlier. She knew that she needed to do something, before it was all to late.

She turned back around and she gagged at the sight. Frederick had the knife buried into Dez's shoulder and his two fingers were wedged into the hole, trying to get the bullet shards out. Ally spun around and threw up in the sink. Frederick casted a worried glance her way, but returned to his work.

Ally wiped her mouth with the back of her hand and she took a sip of water from her bottle. She heard the clattering of a shard connecting with the small bowl. Ally looked over her shoulder and saw Frederick hard at work.

She walked over to the wooden table. She bit her bottom lip and she grabbed Dez's hand and squeezed it.

"Frederick-"

"What are you still doing here, sweetheart?" He asked, not looking away from Dez.

"What?" Ally replied.

"Shouldn't you be going to save Austin," He retorted.

"B-But, the rest of them, back at the prison-"

"Darlin' don't worry about them, that's already being handled," He said and Ally opened her mouth to say something, but nothing came out. "I escaped the farm with Trish and Gregory, they're both heading to the prison right now to save them, don't worry. We overheard that Linda woman a few weeks ago, talking about their plan and we heard your name get mentioned, and we knew something had to be done. So, hurry up girl and go save Austin, and be careful," He nodded towards her stomach. "Be the strong girl I know you can be."

"Thank you," Ally ran around the table and kissed him on the cheek.

"Take my shotgun," He said, nodding towards it.

"What if something happens here?" Ally asked, unsure whether she should take it or not.

"I'll be fine with a knife, now hurry up and go!" He hollered and Ally grabbed the shotgun and her rucksack. She made sure her knife was secure in her belt and she nodded goodbye to Frederick.

She walked out of the house and dodged the creepers that were in the street. She knew that she had to make up for everything, this was all her fault and she was going to fix it.

...

Jess and Nevil raced down the corridor. Jess's chest was heaving for air and her hand was gripping onto her small knife. Nevil was right behind her, running with his machete knife in his hand. They never meant to go so deep into the prison, especially a part, which no one had been too.

The last thing they'd expect was for a dozen creepers to come out of nowhere and chase them through the dark corridors. Nevil was just following wherever Jess was running to, but the truth was that Jess didn't know where she was going, every corridor looked the same and it was too dark to see things properly.

She was terrified that they'd run into a dead-end and it would be over for them both. Jess just wanted Ally to come around the corner and save them, but she knew that wasn't going to happen, not after she left them behind.

The creepers groans got louder and they could hear their pounding footsteps behind them. Nevil looked back over his shoulder and he dodged one of their swinging hands. He reached out and grabbed Jess's hand, knowing he could run faster than her. He began pulling her behind him and Jess let out a scream.

Nevil turned around to see a creeper holding onto her top. Nevil swung his machete knife and it plunged deep into its skull. He struggled to pull the knife out and the creeper fell to the floor. Nevil looked ahead and saw the rest of the herd, coming around the corner at the end of the corridor. He pulled with all his strength and the knife came out of the creepers skull. Jess pulled on his arm and they both took off running again.

Jess's heart was pounding in her chest, she was truly terrified. She just wanted to run past the infirmary and then she'd know where to go from there, but everywhere they ran just looked the same as the last. Nevil was running to fast for her and she was running out of breath, she looked over her shoulder and saw the rest of the creepers getting closer. She knew they were both in big trouble.

Nevil wanted Austin to come running around the corner with his crossbow ready and Ally to be right behind him with a gun, but he knew he was dreaming of a fantasy. No one knew they were this deep in the prison. Nevil had told Cal that he was taking Jess for a little walk to cheer her up, he never told him where though and he was realizing that was a big mistake.

"Nevil I can't run anymore!" Jess yelled and her heavy breathing filled his ears and she stopped, bringing them both to a halt. Nevil raised his panicky eyes to the advancing creepers and he grabbed her by the shoulders.

"You can, c'mon we need to keep running!" He yelled shaking her shoulders.

"I'm scared!" She cried.

"It's okay to be scared," He whispered and they both looked back at the creepers. "I'm scared too."

Jess grabbed his hand and they both took off running again. Nevil could feel a throbbing pain in his feet from the pressure of running and Jess felt the back of her throat burning from her staggering breaths. They ran around another corner and Jess shrieked at the top of her lungs. Nevil whipped his head around and saw a creeper take a bite out of her arm. He let out a loud scream and he stabbed the creeper in between its eyes.

He heard the clicking sound of a gun and Daniel, Jasmine and Billy came running from behind him, both of them began firing their guns off like crazy, but creepers fell to the ground, within seconds they were all dead.

Jasmine ran over and Jess fell into her arms. Nevil looked down at her and his whole body began to shake. The five kids all knew that this wasn't good. Jess was the youngest of them all and she didn't deserve this, any of this.

Nevil looked into her small eyes, which were full of pain and agony. It was all his fault. He should've just taken her outside for a walk, not deep inside the prison.

"Nevil, we need to get her to Cal," Jasmine said, struggling to hold Jess's weight.

"She's going to die," Nevil spluttered out and Billy shook his head.

"You don't know that," Billy replied and he put Jess's arm over his shoulder and Daniel did the same on her other side.

"Jasmine lead the way back," Daniel said and Jasmine took off ahead and they followed behind her. Nevil stayed behind, looking at the dead corpses. This was all his fault. Tears stung at his eyes and he slid down the wall, his machete knife clattering when it hit the floor.

...

Austin knew he should've trusted his instincts. Some had been following them through Verndale, and of course it had to be Dallas. He'd taken them back to the small arena of stands, the place where Austin almost had his head chopped of the last time. Dallas had managed to capture everyone else and they'd all been placed in a long line.

Dallas was loving it. His sickening grin from ear to ear and he let the long sword scrap across the dusty floor. This time there wasn't an audience, just him and a few of his men who were patrolling the area. A few gas lanterns had been lit and placed around. The light flickered in all of their eyes and Austin could hear the sobs coming from a few of the women.

Dallas stopped before George who was right next to Austin and on his other side was Kyle. George looked up at Dallas with dead eyes and Austin could tell that George wasn't scared of him. Dallas snickered and he brought the sword and rested it against his neck. Julie let out a cry, and struggled against the rope, which was tying her hands behind her back and her screams were blocked by the gag in her mouth. Dallas nodded towards one of his man and they grabbed a hold of Kyle who began yelling, but his words couldn't be heard because of the gag in his mouth.

"I've been waiting for this moment for a long time," Dallas smirked. "You and the other hell ninja."

George yelled against his gag and Dallas pulled it out of his mouth roughly. The fabric falling around his neck. Dallas raised an eyebrow, urging him to speak.

"Where is she?" George demanded.

"She's alive, but she won't be for long. Once I've finished with you lot, it will be her turn next," Dallas replied and Harriet started to cry from the end of the line.

George was staring over his shoulder and Dallas followed his gaze to see there was nothing there. He looked back and scowled at him. He pulled the fabric back up his neck and forced it back in his mouth.

He stepped away from George and continued to patrol the line, dragging the sword against the dusty ground. Austin glared venomous daggers at him and then Dallas locked eyes with him.

"So, Austin how's Ally?" Dallas spoke in a mocking tone and Austin's eyes narrowed. "Shame my tank didn't kill her, but I sent Linda and another of my men out to get her. So, I'll assure you, she's dead."

Austin stared back at him blankly. His facial expression couldn't be read, his eyes dead. Dallas laughed loudly loving the reaction he was getting and then his eyes fell on Grace who was next to Lucas.

"I've also got another tank, making its way to the prison...I do believe you have a daughter there...so KABOOM!" Dallas growled and Grace began crying and Julie looked across at Kyle both of them knowing that Lexi was there. Elliot who was next to Julie felt his chest tighten. He'd only just got Mary back and he'd only just had Tom, he couldn't lose them.

Austin followed Dallas with his eyes as he continued to patrolled the line. The man who was holding onto Kyle let him go and stepped back away from him. Austin looked over at the pile of bags and weapons opposite them, all of them belonged to them and he could see his crossbow and Wayne's hat.

Dallas followed his gaze and he smirked, walking over to the pile. He crouched down and picked up Wayne's hat. He placed it on his head and walked back over. He messed with the rim of the hat and sent a sickening glare in Austin's direction.

"You don't deserve to where a hat like that, DALLAS!"

...

Ally tiptoed down the alleyway in Verndale. There were a lot of men patrolling the streets and Ally's heart was beating fast in her chest. She cringed whenever she made a sound, knowing that she could catch all of their attention. She leaned back against the cold wall and she sent a single prayer up to the sky.

She hoped and prayed that Trish and Gregory were going to be successful in saving everyone else back at the prison. It was the only thing stopping her from turning back around and go back to them.

She stroked her stomach and sighed. She was doing this for her baby, her baby needed a dad and he was in Verndale somewhere. Ally knew Austin probably didn't want to speak to her again, but she needed to find him. Apologize for everything, she loved him with all her heart, and now she knew how wrong she was. She should've just stayed behind.

"HELP!" A voice screeched and Ally jumped, raising Frederick's shotgun. Ally took a sneaky look at the street and saw the men were ignoring the screams and Ally knew that whoever it was, was a prisoner. Lizzy?

Ally walked over to the door and pushed it open. It creaked loudly and she stepped inside, quietly shutting it behind her. She raised up the shotgun and stepped cautiously down the corridor.

"Help," The small voice sobbed and Ally recognized that it was Lizzy. She stopped by a metal door and she tried to open it, then she saw the lock on the door. Ally flipped the gun around and started to hit the lock with the end of it. The lock came off and Ally pushed the door open.

Ally stepped inside and she saw Lizzy sitting on the floor, her arm chained to the wall. Ally could see that her leg was bleeding and she ran over, falling to her knees.

"Lizzy!" Ally cried out and she cupped her cheeks. Lizzy's heavy eyes opened and then she jumped back a little.

"Ally," She whimpered.

"Sweetheart, I'm gonna' get you out of here," Ally sobbed and Lizzy nodded her head. Ally leaned forward and kissed her forehead. "Your mama's safe. I'm gonna' save her."

"My mama...I want my mama," She looked up at Ally her eyes red raw from her tears.

"I'll take you to her...I missed you, I'm so sorry I didn't come and get you, but I went back and you weren't in the tree anymore."

"I-I missed you too," Her chest was heaving for air and her tears were hot and burning her eyes. Ally looked at the chain, holding her arm to the wall and she could see it was cutting through her wrist. Ally grabbed the shotgun and began to hit it against the thing on the wall. It eventually came off and Ally knew she couldn't get the actually cuff off, because she didn't have the key for it.

"We need to go save everyone. Can you walk?" Ally helped her to her feet and she was putting more weight on her left leg, then her injured one.

"I'll be fine," She replied and Ally handed her, her knife from her belt.

"You use this to protect yourself," Ally explained and Lizzy nodded. "C'mon."

Ally grabbed Lizzy's hand and they both walked out of the cell and back down the corridor. They stepped back out into the alleyway and Ally heard screaming. She guided them both through the shadows and she recognized this part of the town. It was the place where she'd climbed up onto the roof, when Austin almost got his head chopped off.

She pushed Lizzy back behind her and they stepped further into the shadows, when one of the men on watch walked past.

"She's alive, but she won't be for long. Once I've finished with you lot, it will be her turn next," Ally listened to Dallas's harsh voice and she knew she was on about Lizzy. She walked along the stretch of shadow, sticking to the wall. Lizzy gripped onto her hand and Ally looked around the corner and her eyes widened and she held her hand to her mouth to muffle her sob.

She stared into George's eyes. He's alive. Ally felt her heart pick up speed and she was screaming at herself, trying to stop her body from reacting on instinct. George blinked and her hand fell from her mouth and Ally held a finger to her lips, telling him to keep quiet. She could taste her salty tears, flowing through the gap between her lips. Her whole body was shaking and she knew that she needed to save them. They were all there, George was there and Lizzy was right behind her.

Ally's eyes fell over to Austin. His face was cut up and his eyes was swollen. She felt like it was her fault, if she'd just stayed behind, then he would be fine and safe, and he wouldn't hate her. The look in his eyes made her feel scared. He was glaring at Dallas with a venomous look and if looks could kill, Dallas would be dead.

"So, Austin how's Ally?" Dallas spoke in a mocking tone and Austin's eyes narrowed. "Shame my tank didn't kill her, but I sent Linda and another of my men out to get her. So, I'll assure you, she's dead."

Ally felt sick rise in her throat. Dallas was trying to manipulate them all and Ally could see right through that act. Ally looked back at Lizzy and she was listening carefully, gripping her knife. She looked up at Ally and smiled.

"I've also got another tank, making its way to the prison...I do believe you have a daughter there...so KABOOM!" Ally heard Grace let out a cry and she saw the panic stricken look on all of their faces, and Ally sent up another prayer, hoping that Trish and Gregory had made it there.

Ally watched Dallas walk over to the pile of bags and weapons. He picked up Wayne's hat and Ally reacted immediately, hating it when other people touched Wayne's hat. She stepped out from the shadows, letting go of Lizzy's hand. She raised up the shotgun and came up behind Dallas.

"You don't deserve to where a hat like that, DALLAS!" She spat with all the venom she could and Dallas slowly turned around.

"I thought you were dead," He grunted.

"I'm hard to kill," She retorted. "Now, get on your knees."

"My men are all surrounding here, they will fire on my command," He replied.

"I know, but like I said...get on your motherfucking knees!" She hissed and Dallas smirked, dropping his sword and slowly getting to his knees, placing his hands behind his head.

Ally aimed the shotgun at his head and she quickly glanced over her shoulder and she saw Lizzy's silhouette and she nodded for her to come out. Lizzy slowly stepped out and Harriet began screaming against her gag. Lizzy smiled over at her, and she never took her eyes of her mom, whilst she made her way over to Ally.

"How the fuck did you get out!" Dallas snapped.

"I got her out," Ally said. "Now, shut the fuck up."

Ally looked around to see Dallas's men weren't around, but that didn't mean one of them could appear at any moment. She shifted her shoulders and she quickly looked over at Austin.

"Where is she?" Dallas asked. "Linda?"

"Dead, she shot Dez. She tried to kill me, tried to kill my baby and now she's dead. My friend Frederick," Ally looked over at Sarah, who's eyes widened at the mention of her dad. "He killed her."

"Oh well," He shrugged his shoulders. "She's disposable."

"I've had enough of this crap. This ends today, I'm tired of losing people-"

"Who have you lost Ally?" Dallas asked, tilting his head to the side.

"My friend," She blinked back her tears. "Steven, he's dead."

Ally looked over at everyone and they were all staring at her with wide eyes. Lucas hung his head down, hearing about the death of his friend.

"That's a shame...Tell me Ally what about the people at the prison?" Dallas pushed.

"They'll be fine...Our people are making their way over there and they are going to save them."

"Oh, really," Dallas laughed. "You gonna' do it? Kill me?"

Ally started back at him and she felt her hands shaking. She didn't know if she could do it. She didn't know if she could kill him in front of everyone. She looked over at Austin who was watching her closely. He hadn't shown any emotion to seeing her and she felt a sickening twist in her stomach. What if he never talks to me again?

"You've gotten' big," Dallas said, staring at her stomach. "Your gonna' be a mama."

"Yes I am!" She hissed. "But that has nothing to do with you."

"Well, it does...you see you wouldn't want your baby growing up without a dad, would you?" He smirked a sickening grin and then his men appeared out of the shadows, with their guns raised at them.

Ally looked over at Austin and she began to shake her head. They were outnumbered and she knew this wasn't going to have a good outcome.

"Ally..." Lizzy sobbed, holding onto her top.

"Choose your next move wisely," Dallas said.

Ally watched and she saw Austin was moving his hands behind his back. She realized he was trying to get out of the rope, holding his hands behind his back. She looked to see they were all doing it discreetly.

Ally sighed and she lowered her gun. Dallas smirked and she stepped forward, reaching out and taking Wayne's hat from his head. Dallas furrowed his eyebrows in confusion, her actions unknown to him. She placed it on her head and smiled down at him.

She looked at them all to see they weren't moving their hands anymore and they were pretending their hands were still bound behind their backs. She took a few steps back with Lizzy and she held her hands up in fake defense.

"Hey, Dallas...this is pay back for everything you've done," She raised her shotgun quickly and she shot him straight in the head. They all ran forwards and bullets were fired. They all grabbed their weapons and bags and started firing back.

Ally grabbed Lizzy's hand and she started pulling her behind her. Harriet was firing shots at the men and Ally raced over, pulling her back and she handed Lizzy over to her. Harriet scooped her up into her arms and buried her face into her neck. Ally guarded the pair and then she began to push them away, as they all began to retreat.

"This way!" Lucas yelled and everyone continued to fire shots at the men and then they all sprinted down the alleyway.

Ally stopped and she realized Wayne's hat wasn't on her head. Her eyes widened and she turned around, to run back out onto the battlefield, but a strong hand grabbed her wrist and she spun around coming face to face with an angry Austin.

"What the fuck are you doing!?" He yelled.

"The hat...W-Wayne's hat," She tried to pull her arms from his hold, but he gripped her tighter. "Austin! I need to get it!"

"You can't risk your own life for a goddamn hat!" He spat.

"It's not just a hat! It's all I have left of him!" She screamed. "Austin, I know I've fucked up, but that's all I've got left of him! He's my Uncle and I might never see him again!"

Austin's face softened slightly and his eyes hovered over her shoulder. He stepped around her and ran out of the alleyway.

"Where's he going!?" Lucas yelled.

"He went back to get Wayne's-" One last shot was fired and silence fell. Ally felt herself go weak at the knee's and she walked forwards. She stumbled about a little bit and she stepped out of the alleyway. She felt her heart leap out of her chest, panic and fear flooding her body.

She looked around to see Dallas's men on the floor and the rest were gone and then she saw the familiar mop of blond hair...lying on the floor.

"Ally!" Dean tried to grab her, but Ally sprinted forward, stepping over the dead bodies.

"AUSTIN!" She screeched and she collapsed next to his body. She shook her head frantically and she saw the three bullet wounds, one in his stomach, one near his heart and one in his shoulder. Wayne's hat was in his right hand and she grabbed his wrist trying to feel for a pulse.

Ally's tears were igniting her eyes and her hands were seeping in his blood. Her hands were shaking violently and she reached out and touched his face, blood smearing his pale cheeks.

"Austin," She whimpered and her tears fell on his face. "Austin...no..."

She rested her forehead against his and she let out a staggering breath, then she took in a sharp intake of air and screeched at the top of her lungs.

"NOOOOO!" She pounded her fists against the dusty ground. "BRING HIM BACK!"

She couldn't feel her body. She was to numb and too broken. She continued to scream and everyone else was standing a distance away watching the scene. All of them on their knees, crying.

"PLEASE, BRING HIM BACK!" She screeched up at the sky. "PLEASE!"

She rested her head against his stomach and she gripped at his shirt. She stared up at his pale face and her whole body shuddered from her violent sobs.

"Bring him back..." She whimpered.

It felt like hours, but it had only been a few seconds. She continued to cry and scream, staring at his face. She heard the crunching of footsteps against the dirt and she didn't react to it. She continued to stroke Austin's cheek, the blood seeping out of his wounds and onto her.

A pair of military boots appeared next to Austin's body, but Ally didn't shift. Then they crouched down and picked up Wayne's sheriff's hat and stood back up. Ally moved her head away from Austin's chest and she started down at the boots. Her eyes followed the length of his body. Skimming over his dark combat trouser, which were tucked into his boots. Then he was wearing a black top with a cops jacket with a sheriff's badge. Then her eyes landed on his face.

"W-Wayne..." She whimpered.

Men dressed in military uniform appeared behind him and they picked up Austin's body. Ally reached out for them, but she fell forward, curling herself up into a ball. She felt a strong pair of arms pick her up and bundle her into their arms. She opened her eyes and looked at Wayne. She wrapped her arms around his neck and buried her face into his neck, crying her heart out.

AN: I'm back! I'd like to say with a good chapter...but it was all quite sad...But Wayne's back! Now, before you all start saying, don't kill Austin off. I think you should know that I like happy endings. Also, the fact that Jess got bit...you'll just have to wait and find out.

Anyway, I hope you all enjoyed it and please leave me a review, I love hearing from you guys :)
