Chapter 15
SPOV
Bill and I were in bed together. After the shower, we went downstairs and he made me eat loads of food he had ordered for me. When I finally convinced him that I was full and would feel sick if I continued eating, he carried me upstairs making me laugh to our room.
Our room… It felt so nice to think like that! I was really happy that Bill and I were together again. But deep down I knew that I couldn't stay away from him, even if I wanted, I couldn't…
At the moment I was in his arms and he was caressing my hair. It felt so good. He was gentle and the feeling of his long fingers in my hair calmed me down in a way I couldn't exactly explain.
- Bill… - I called his attention making he look into my eyes. – Do you think I will be a good mother?
- Well, of course, sweetheart! Don't even doubt it. You are going to be a great mother! You are caring, attentive, protective and stubborn… Your child will love for sure!
- I hope so… I am just afraid that I won't be able to do the right things, the right choices…
- Sookie, don't get so worried about this. Just act naturally, follow your instincts and you will for sure do the right thing. And if you don't, well that's alright. It's making mistakes that we learn, isn't it?
- Yeah, you are right…
Bill gave a little smile and kissed my lips softly, tightening me more in his arms.
- So, tomorrow we are going to a party.
- Well, you don't have to come if you don't want to.
- Sookie…
- I know, know… You don't to leave alone because Russel is back and something else that you won't tell me but if you have to work to do or plans with Jessica or something, I won't force you to come. I can go by myself like I always did and I will be fine.
- I am coming with you, period. But what is happening tomorrow?
- Bill, tomorrow is the 31st of December.
- Oh… I didn't realize that… Has it been so long since the day you… came back?
- Yes. Didn't you celebrate Christmas?
- No… I didn't have reasons to celebrate… So we are already starting a new year. It will be our first New Year together.
- It will – I confirmed smiling and received a quick kiss in return. – And I will finally satisfy Arlene's curiosity about the baby's father. She has been asking me every single day who was he! Oh… have you already told Jessica?
- No, I haven't… I didn't talk to her just yet probably tomorrow we could tell everyone.
- Well, that was the idea.
- Are going to work tomorrow?
- Not exactly but I am gonna give Sam and Arlene a hand. And cook my pie! Everyone loves my pie!
- Alright, sweetheart but please be careful, okay?
- I will! Don't worry!

I rolled my eyes and smiled. What could I do if he was this protective…? Thank, I guess…
I looked around the room to get a better look. I had already spent a good time in that room but hadn't quite looked at its details… All of a sudden my eyes stopped.
- Is that my picture?
Bill looked at me with a guilty look and I am quite sure that if he was not a vampire he would be blushing…
- Well, I suppose it is… - he said smiling – I needed to have something to remind me of you otherwise I would get completely crazy… Whenever I was feeling down, I would come to this room and look to your picture… It didn't make feel better. Actually, it was the way around… I would feel worse, reminding all the things that we spent together… Your smell, you heat, your smile… Feeling you! That was what I missed the most, knowing that even if you weren't with me, you were alive and okay. That and remembering the pain that I had caused… But somehow, after experiencing all the emotion that looking to you picture would make me feel I would feel a bit better and get a little hope that someday I would find you and you would be fine. That someday you would come back to my arms, just like you are right now… - he said that hugging me so tight. Almost like if he was making sure that I was really there, that I wasn't only a dream.
I looked up to his face and saw a single tear seeping down his face and quickly passed my thumb wiping it from his face. He then looked at me and gave me the most beautiful smile which I corresponded with another one. He put his hands on the sides of my face, rubbing my cheeks and pulled gently my face to his, joining our lips in a passionate kiss.
-God, you don't know just how happy I am to have you here… To be able to hold you in my arms… I can't live without you, Sookie… Please, don't leave me…
- I will never leave you Bill. But you have to promise that you won't ever, ever lie to me again!
- I promise you! I would prefer to meet the true death, to hurt you the way I did.
- Good.

The next morning when I woke up, I was feeling great! I was not one bit sick and I even felt… relieved like if my life was going perfectly.
It felt so nice to be in Bill's arms but as soon as looked to the watch on the bedside table, I decided it was time to get up.
I had already arranged everything with Bill. He would pick me up by seven p.m. at my place and we would go together to the party. I know he was a bit anxious about telling everyone, I could feel it! But I guess he was also happy.
I took Bill's arm from my waist and got off bed. I caressed his hair and placed a kiss in his cold lips.
- See you later, honey. We love you.
I went to the wardrobe and dressed quickly because I had decided to take a bath in my place. Mason would come with me to my house and stay outside, "just in case", as Bill had said the night before.
I went downstairs and headed to the kitchen which was incredibly filled with food. I didn't feel like having eggs and bacon, so I simply prepared me some cereals. When I had finished breakfast and had cleaned the ware, I went outside.
- Good morning, Sookie – said Simon.
- Good morning for you, Simon – I replied with a smile.
- I am going to call Mason.
I sighed and nodded.
- Looks like Mr. Compton really worries and cares about you.
- Yes but I would prefer to go home by myself…
- He is a vampire after all…
I giggled with that and nodded.
- Well, you are definitely right!
A few moments later, Mason arrived. Bill had introduced him last night.
- Good morning, Miss Stackhouse. I am going to stay with you today.
- Well, good morning to you Mason. And, although I am not a big fan of all this, I have to thank for staying with me.
- Well, you don't have to thank me. It's my job after all, Miss Stackhouse.
- Call me Sookie, please.
He nodded and we stated to walk to my house.
Bill had tried to convince me to go with Simon but why would I go by car if I could simply walk home. I mean it was only a cemetery away!
We remained silent during the walk to my house. It's not that he was unfriendly or that I didn't like him or something… I was just so used to make this walk silently…
A few minutes later, we arrived at my house. I asked him to come in and eat or drink something but he refused saying that he would be outside because he preferred.
When I was about to climb the stairs, the phone started ringing.
- Hello?
- Hi, Sookie! It's Charlie!
- Oh… Hi, Charlie! Are you already here?
- Yes! I just arrived at Bon Temps! I didn't realize how much I missed this…. I am going to Merlotte's. Arlene told me that there was going to be a party tonight and you know just how much I love parties!
- You beat I do! I am coming there soon. Just gonna take a bath and go there.
- Alright, great then! See you there honey!
- Okay, bye!
I hung up the phone and went upstairs to take my bath.

- Sookie! I am so glad you came! I could really use a hand… Is he here? – Arlene welcomed me at Merlotte's.
- Well, if you are asking if my baby's father is here, he isn't. He is only coming later.
- Oh… Guess I will have to wait a while then… Unless you want to satisfy my curiosity now..
- Arlene…
- Alright, alright! You brought your pie! Oh how I missed her…
I just laughed and started helping
There so many things which need to be done to settle a party! More than we imagine when we are in it…
I had already helped in the decoration, baked a few dishes, cleaned and washed the floor when I finally decided to stop. Sam was telling me that I didn't need to help every five minutes! But I wanted! I wasn't here for a whole year and now… I don't know how to explain… I just felt like I needed to help!
Charlie had come here a few hours earlier and she was helping us as well.
Arlene had of course told her that I was pregnant and she had screamed and jumped in happiness.
- I am sooooooooo happy for you, Sook! – she told me and I could see she was being sincere… Alright, I couldn't exactly see but I read her thoughs… Don't judge me! It's not that easy to control it and I need to know if my baby is safe!
We met her husband David and I was certain that he was a supe… I couldn't hear his thoughts very clearly… But of course I didn't ask her or him if it was true…
Well, her husband he was nice but I was certain that he was hiding something… I don't know why because I decided not to spy anyone thought… He was very tall and he was hot… Not in that sense, ladies1 I mean his body temperature… It was like Alcide's… Whatever…
When it was almost 6 pm I decided to go home and start getting ready… Of course Mason had come with me to Merlotte's and I must say it was a bit strange but I almost forgot it.
I took another bath it felt so good and relaxing! After drying my hair, I dressed up and put a light make up.
My dress was purple and it ended in my knees. It was not very thigh but still my baby bump was noticeable, although some people might think I was fat… I did two braids with my fringe and hold them in the back of my head. I looked in the mirror to see the result and I did like it. I had high-heels, well they were that high and a black coat because it could get cold.
By 7 pm, I heard a knock at my door. It was Bill. We looked stunning in his blue suit and purple shirt! Guess we are matching. When he looked at me he smiled.
- You look beautiful, Miss Stackhouse!
- Well, thanks you look stunning yourself, Mr. Compton. Would you like to come in.
- If you are ready, we could leave now.
- I am. Let me just grab my bag.
He nodded and a few minutes later, after I had grabbed my bag and given a quick look at mirror to check if everything was in the correct place, I was back at my door.
He grabbed my hand and placed a kiss there. Then he kissed me deeply and whispered in my ear:
- I love you both. You look breathtaking in that dress.
He then caressed my baby bump and placed a kiss there as well. Then he took my hand and guided me to his car, opening the door for me, like the gentleman he is.
The ride there was made in a peaceful silent with small talks here and there about my day. He were followed by a car that brought two body guards: one that I didn't know the name and Katarina. I wasn't really happy that she was coming but I didn't really have a choice.
When he parked in front of Merlotte's he could notice how nervous I was.
- Don't be nervous, sweetheart. I f you don't want to…
- -No, it not that… I just don't want people to say bad things about our child that's all.
- Well, let's ignore what other people think, shall we?
- Yeah you are right!
He got out of the car and opened the door for me, giving a gentle squeeze in my hand.
When we got in the warehouse, there weren't many people there. But Arlene noticed our entrance and she almost ran toward us.
- Oh My God, Sookie! Is he… he?
- Well, yes, Alrene, he is.
- Ohh.. How I don't not just what to say… I mean… I didn't know vampire could have kids…
- And they can't – Bill answered – Not with ordinary humans.
- It's because of the reading mind thing? – Arlene asked
- I guess so… - I lied because I knew exactly how it was possible
"Thank God I can't hear thoughts!" Arlene though and it almost made me smile.
- Well…. You know I ain't a big fan of ours Bill… But I must say that if Sookie is happy, I am happy. So congratulations for our parents-to-be.
- Thanks, Arlene! – I hugged her and then she headed back to the party.
- She reacted better than I thought…
Bill smiled and took me to the center of the warehouse.
It was playing a soft song and Bill pulled me to his arms and he started dancing.
It felt so good and safe to be in his arms… I knew I safe with him and that I could trust hum, even though he lied to me before.
I looked in his eyes and could see that he was happy. I smiled and he kissed me. Just a little short kiss that showed all the love that he had for me.
In the corner of my eye I could see Jason standing with a shocked look in his face.
- Bill, let's talk with Jason.
Bill nodded and I guided him to where Jason was standing in his office uniform.
- Jason! – I hugged him thigh and placed a soft kiss in his cheek. He hugged me back but looked between me and Bill with a confused look in an interrogative look in his face. – Bill, already knows.
- Ohh… You finally told him! You should see how many time I tried to convince this girl to go to your house and tell you, but she would never listen…
I looked at Bill with a sorry look and he shook his head.
- I understand a bit why she wouldn't go and tell me… But right now, the only thing that matters is that we are together and we are going to have a baby.
- You are going to have a baby? – asked Jessica also with a shocked look in her face.
- Well, yes Jessica, I am going to be a father.
- Oh My God! I am so happy for you! – she threw herself in Bill's arms and I could see just how their relationship had got better! – When were you gonna tell me? I am having a brother or sister! Oh, Sookie! – she smiled and hugged me this time, squeezing me just a bit more than it was necessary.
- Jess, you're hurting her. – Bill stated.
- Oh… Sorry, Sook… Sorry, little one – she said touching my belly – Can I?
- Of course, Jess! But he or she doesn't kick just yet…
- Hi there little one. I am Jessica! And I am your big sister… I am so happy you are coming... I really need some company… You dad is a bit boring, ya know…
- Hey!
- Sorry, Bill…
He shook his head and I could see he was smilling.
- Of how long are you?
- Almost four months…
- Hummm… When will you find out if it's a girl or a boy?
- I should have already found out in the last appointment but I guess the baby is a bit shy… So probably in two weeks when I have my next appointment.
- Ohhh… I wish it turns out being a girl so we can do a lot of things together!
- No! – Jason said – It has to be a boy so I can teach him how to play football and how to deal with the ladies!
- Jason! – I shouted.
- Alright, alright… Only the football part! The rest he will be able to learn by himself… But if he takes after his mom… Well, he won't be very lucky…
- Jason! That's not funny…
- Okay, sorry, Sook… Sorry, Bill…
Hoyt who had been there the whole time said:
- Congratulations Sookie and Vampire Bill! I hope you are very happy no matter what the baby's sex is… - he said this looking from Jessica to Jason and that made me giggle.
- Thank you Hoyt!
- Now, if you will excuse me, I am going to dance with my girlfriend!- said Hoyt pulling Jessica with him.

I lost count of how many hugs I had given in less than an hour! Small town everybody know everyone and news spread quickly!
Many people came to give me their congrats… Not all were sincere but what could I do… Nobody is perfect!
Sam was one of them and he was relieved that I had finally told Bill. Then there was Alcide who had given a Bill a nod that told something like "You better not hurt her"…
- Turns out, everybody knew except me… - Bill said when we were dancing again.
- Ohh… That's not true… It's not like many people knew…
- I know… I am just feeling a little sad that I wasn't one of the first people to know… That I wasn't there with you in your appointments, that… - I silenced him placing a finger I his mouth.
- Bill, I am sorry that I didn't tell you when I found out, I really am but please let's forget what you didn't do and think about what you are gonna be able to. You are going to feel his or hers first kicks… You are going to discover his sex and we are going to choose together his or her name. And then you will be a part of our baby's life. Bill there is so much ahead and that scares me but knowing that you are going to be there with me in everything just makes me feel so relieved and happy.
- You are right, Sookie! There is still so much ahead. I will be able to be there in so many circumstances… And I want you to know that I will always, do you hear me? Always be there for you!
He placed both hand in my face and then he pulled me to one gentle and passionate kiss.
- I love you, Sookie!
- I love you too, Bill.
- I can't believe you are back with that waitress… Bill you are a King! You have power; you are so intelligent and handsome! Sookie is no match for you! She is just a crazy girl with a stupid job and no smartness at all I on the other side am a perfect match for you.
Bill let me go and turned to Portia who was standing just behind of us.
- Well, you are completely wrong, Portia Bellefleur! I might be a King and Sookie a waitress but that has no importance to me. I LOVE SOOKIE. Not you or any other woman in this planet. Sookie is perfect to me and I don't care what you or any other person in this town or planet thinks about it because the only thing that matters to me is that is that Sookie loves me as well and we are gonna have a baby. And you Portia who claims to be perfect and more important than MY SOOKIE, you don't have anybody that loves you…
Portia looked from me to Bill completely shocked and I couldn't help it but smile. A minute later I found out that most of the people in the ware house were looking at us… I blushed and looked at Bill.
- Yeah! Who do you think you are to talk like that about my sister! – said Jason placing a hand in my shoulder.
- Alright, I am sorry…- Portia said and left the warehouse.
Everyone was looking at us and I was feeling so embarrassed. I was trying really hard not to listen to everyone thoughts…
- Alright people! Now I am opening the Karaoke! Who wants to be the first? – Sam grabbed a microphone and said. Everyone's attention turned to that. Who didn't love a good karaoke? I looked to Sam with a thankful look in my face.
- Sorry, sweetheart… - said Bill with a sorry look in his face. He touched my cheek gently and placed a soft kiss in my lips.
- No problem.
- Dam it, I hate that Portia… - said Jason going back to where he was before the incident.

It was almost midnight. I had done a bit of everything. I had eaten so much that I felt like I was going to explode, I had sung because Arlene had dragged me to the improvised stage and I had laughed so much with all my friends. It felt so good to be, mostly, with people who love you and want the best for you. I was thankful that God had given me Bill who somehow loved me so deeply, and all my friends who were there for better and for worse.
I just missed Gran… This day was usually shared with her. She would say "Happy New Year, my Sookie! Remember to be happy and never regret anything." She would tell Jason that he had drank too much or tell Tara that she needn't be so rude…
Bill squeezed my hand and wiped a tear that I had notice from my cheek.
- I know you miss her… - he whispered in my ear – But she is always here with you.
I nodded and smiled, putting the sadness behind of me.
- Excuse me everyone! – asked Sam who was standing on the stage and we all turned to face him – So it's almost midnight, please grab you champagne glasses – he added pointing to a table that was full of glasses filled with champagne – Not you, Sookie! You will stay with the apple juice.
We laughed and I answered:
- Alright, boss!
- There is also True Blood so Bill and Jessica please join us as well.
Bill grabbed a True Blood and a glass with apple juice.
- 10,..
- 9, 8 , 7 , 6, 5, 4 , 3, 2,1,…. Happy New Year! – we all said together.
We toasted and congratulate each other.
Bill turned to me and said:
- Happy New Year, Miss Stackhouse!
- Well, Happy New Year for you too, King Bill.
We both laughed and we looked in my eyes and said:
- I love you, Sookie Stackhouse and I hope that this year that just has started is one of many that we will share.
I felt the tears in my eyes and Bill kissed me, firstly under my eyes, wiping the tears, then in my nose and finally in my lips.
- I love you too, William Compton! - I answered and added – We are very happy to have you in our lives!
He knelt and placed a tender kiss in my bump.
- Happy New Year, little one. Mommy and Daddy love you very very much. We can't wait to have you here with us!
I saw Alcide was getting close to us, so I said– Alcide is coming, please behave.
Bill sighed and then nodded, standing.
- Happy New Year, Sookie! – Alcide said hugging me.
- Thanks Cide. Happy New Year for you too.
Then it was Debbie's time to hug me and congratulate me.
- How are you feeling – Debbie asked me.
- I am okay. We both are – I replied putting a hand lovingly above my bump.
- Great! – she said smiling but I knew her smile was a fake one. I had heard her thinking once that all she wanted was a baby but Alcide didn't want one. I understood that she felt sad. I would feel as well if it was with me. – Baby, let's go dance.
- Alright, Debbie.
They said their goodbyes and went to the dance floor.
- Do you want to go dance as well?
- No, Bill. I would rather not. My feet are hurting and I am feeling a bit dizzy.
- Alright, do you want me to bring you anything?
- No thanks, I am fine.
Bill's phone started to ring and he said:
- Sorry, Sookie, I have to answer this one. I am going outside and will be back in a minute alright?
I nodded and saw him talking with Katarina before he left.
I needed to go to the bathroom and I decided it was a good time. There was a small bathroom in the back of the warehouse and I headed there.
I entered and put some cold water in my face. I was feeling a bit hot. I looked in the mirror and saw when Charlie's husband, David, entered the bathroom.
I turned to him and asked:
- What are you doing here? This is the ladies bathroom.
He smiled devilish and I didn't like the look in his face.
- There is someone who wants to see you, Sookie Stackhouse.
I tried to run but he grabbed me before I could get to the door and placed something in my nose and mouth. The smell that came from that was strong and a few second later I felt everything go black and the only thing that I could think about was Bill and my baby…
BPOV
I received a call from Roger. He was the responsible to tell me when there were any news about Russel Edgington.
-Compton.
- Mr. Compton, this is Roger. Mr. Edgington is in town.
-You mean here in Bon Temps?
- Yes, I wanted to warn you because…
Sookie
I didn't hear what Roger said next. Sookie's fear was the only thing that I could sense… I headed back inside and couldn't find her. I rushed to Katarina and asked:
- Where is she?
- What?
- Where is Sookie, Katarina?
- I… I…
- You..
- I don't know…
- How the fuck don't you know? I asked you to keep an eye on her!
My phone started ringing again.
- Compton.
- Well, William Compton! Hasn't it been a while since the last time we talked.
- Russel… What do you want…
- Well, it's quite simple… But let's play a bit first, shall we? I mean, Ms. Stackhouse does look stunning in this purple dress doesn't she? It's almost like the first time we saw each other, Mr. Compton… Just this time, our beautiful faerie was the one who was kidnapped…
If I had a heart I am sure it would have stopped! She was kidnaped...
