Chapter 31: Nothing.
Ally froze. Fear and fright taking over her body. She went to take off running, but Austin reached out and grabbed her.
"LET ME GO!" She hollered loudly and Austin wrapped his arms around her. He nodded at Harriet to go and when she was out of sight, he pinned her against the wall.
"Ally, calm down," He spoke sternly, but this anger was evident on his face.
"SHE'S TAKEN NATHAN!" She screamed back in his face.
"I know!" He snapped. "But we ain't going out there to find our son with you running on anger!"
"She's took him!" She spat. "She's took our son..."
"I know," He whispered back. "You and I are going to get him back, then we're going to get rid of Cassidy. Don't think I ain't as angry as you, but you need to keep it under control, otherwise you might do something you regret."
"Okay...okay," She whimpered. "We need to find him."
"We will, I promise."
They made their way into the cellblock and everyone was up and moving. The sun was just rising and they were all panicking. Wayne looked over first and he raced over, pulling Ally into a hug.
"We'll find him," He whispered into her ear.
"I know," Ally replied and she pulled away from him.
"Mommy, I'm so sorry. I should've protected him," Nevil ran over and wrapped his arms around Ally's waist. She bent down and kissed his head.
"It wasn't your fault," Ally said, then she saw Jess step out of her cell. She knew they needed to talk to her about what happened in the cafeteria. Her eyes were bloodshot and her face was tear-stained from all the crying. Ally flashed her a smile and Jess weakly returned it.
"We need to go now," Austin said and Wayne nodded.
"You and Ally go off together and I'll split everyone else up. Cal needs to stay here and watch over Alice, and so does Frederick. Mary can you stay here and help Tess look after the kids?"
"Sure," Mary responded, kissing Tom's head.
Austin grabbed Ally's hand and squeezed it tight. She looked up at him and took in a staggering breath. He nodded to the exit and he quickly grabbed his crossbow from the table and Ally grabbed two knives and a gun with ammo.
They walked outside and out of the gate and into the courtyard. Derek and Roxana were setting up one of the cars, but Austin and Ally were going on foot instead. Derek walked over to the gate and unlocked it for them. He flashed Ally a smile and she nodded back, gripping Austin's hand harder.
They took off down the dirt road and Ally kept looking back over her shoulder, watching the prison get further away. She sniffled and wiped the stray tear from her eyes. Austin slipped his crossbow onto his back and he looked over at her.
"We'll get him back."
...
Austin and Ally came onto the highway. It was nothing, but a graveyard of vehicles. Austin had told her to watch her feet, because anything could be underneath the cars and trucks. Ally was looking through the windows, trying to see what she could find, but all she saw was dead bodies.
The smell made her stomach turn and she just wanted to throw up, but she kept fazing it out. Ally didn't understand how Austin was keeping his anger under control. She on the other hand just wanted to punch every car she passed.
"Ally, stop dragging your feet," Austin said and she looked over at him. "Your making me uneasy."
"Sorry," She mumbled.
"He'll be fine," He reminded her and she nodded her head. "I'll die before I let anything happen to our son."
"I know, and so will I," Ally responded and she brushed her hands against the vehicles she passed.
The carried on down the highway. The sun had rose high and the heat was pounding down on them. Ally slipped off her jacket and wrapped it around her waist. She rolled her sleeves up and rolled up the ends of her jeans, so they were underneath her knees.
Austin pulled off his crossbow and loaded up an arrow, just incase. Ally watched him closely and she stepped closer to him. She could see he was struggling with the heat, just as well as she was and she grabbed the canteen, which was hanging from his hip and she pulled it off and grabbed his hand, raising an eyebrow at him.
"Drink," She ordered.
"No, we need to save the water," He grumbled.
"Yeah, but I don't want you passing out on me. Now drink," She demanded and he rolled his eyes, taking a quick sip. "See that wasn't so hard, was it?"
Suddenly, the sound of engines filled their ears. Austin grabbed her arm and pulled her behind one of the cars. He crouched down in front of her and the engines came to a halt. Austin knew they'd be spotted if they didn't hide properly.
He pushed Ally down on the ground and he swiftly moved underneath the car. He reached out and grabbed her hand, pulling her underneath the car with him. They were taking up way too much room being next to each other. So, Ally moved on top of him. She didn't have much room to move, so she was stuck, wedged between Austin and the car.
Her face was around an inch away from his. Her legs were straddling his waist and she was resting on her forearms, which were by Austin's shoulders. She looked into his eyes and he nodded at her.
The doors to the cars slammed shut, making Ally flinch. Austin rested his hands on her hips and squeezed the skin there to comfort her. She smiled back at him, but froze when she saw people's feet pass by the car.
"Just take what you can find," A masculine voice said. "We need to hurry back to Rufus."
Ally gritted her teeth and rested her forehead against Austin's shoulder. Her hot breath plastered Austin's skin and her hands turned into fists.
"We need baby things, hurry the fuck up!" This voice sounded more rough and Ally recognized it.
"Eric," Ally whispered and she looked at Austin, whose facial features had tightened and she could tell he was just as angry as she was, but he had more control over it.
They stayed under the car for around twenty minutes, then they heard them get back into their cars and drive off. Ally got out first and she stretched out her sore limps and Austin soon followed, picking up his crossbow, which he'd left by the wheel of the car. He pulled Ally to her feet and she quickly hugged him.
"We need to go back to the warehouse where they took us. They might be there," Austin explained.
"Okay," Ally whispered.
...
Ally stood in the treeline and stared at the door to the warehouse. She shivered at the memory of all the glass and her back began to ache and itch. Austin looked back at her and he grabbed her hand, pulling her along behind him.
They came to the door and Austin looked through the broken window and he saw the inside was empty. He slipped his crossbow off his back and loaded up an arrow. Ally pulled out her knife and he nodded his head at her, then pushed open the door.
They stepped inside the damp scented room and saw the tools lying around. They couldn't hear any voices, which was a good thing and a bad thing. It was good, because it meant they weren't in danger, but it was bad because that meant Nathan wasn't here.
Ally let her fighting stance go and she sighed looking around the room. She choked back a sob and Austin stopped, lowering his crossbow and turned around to face her.
"We need to check the rest of this place. He could still be here," Austin assured her.
"Just face it, there's no one here!" Ally snapped.
"Yeah, and if there's no one here. We'll carry on looking for him," Austin replied and she wiped her tears away.
"W-What if we don't find him," She stammered. "What if we never get to see him again?"
Austin put his crossbow on the floor and he roughly pulled her into his arms, holding her tight. He buried his face into her hair and she buried her's into his neck. She wrapped her arms around his waist, squeezing him tight.
"I promise you we'll get him back if it's the last thing I do," He whispered. "Now let's go check the rest of this place out."
Half an hour later, they'd checked the whole warehouse and there was no sign of Rufus, Cassidy or Nathan. Ally was wandering aimlessly through the woods at Austin's side. She had a death grip on her knife and Austin was watching out for any movement in the trees.
Ally pushed some branches out of her path and she carried on ahead of Austin. He kept a sharp eye on her just incase a creeper came out of nowhere. He looked over his shoulder and saw something black move quickly through the trees. He blinked and looked again to see whatever it was, had gone. A creeper can't move that fast.
"Ally-" He turned back around and saw Ally had froze up ahead. He slowly walked closer to her and when he came up behind her. He saw a girl standing in front of her. She had her gun raised at them both.
"I don't mean no harm. You just don't know who you can trust nowadays," The girl said, her hand wasn't even shaking. Her eyes were narrowed at them both, like she was trying to suss them out.
She was wearing a black dress that stopped at her mid-thigh. She was wearing a trench coat over the top of that and her hood was down and there was a black bandanna hanging around her neck. She had a cut on the side of her face, which had been badly stitched and it was obvious that she'd done it herself. She had long, curly, blond hair, which rested at her hips. She looked around eighteen, and she had a bright pair of blue eyes, which stood out to them both.
But, Ally hadn't froze because of the gun that was pointed at her. She had froze because of the person she looked like. She looked exactly like Wayne, but obviously female and a lot younger. She held Wayne's similar stance, she had his hard facial expression and Ally sensed that she was a fighter. Just like Wayne.
"Wayne," Ally whispered and the girl's eyes widened slightly and she stepped closer with the gun raised.
"How do you know that name!" She snapped.
"You look like someone we know, Wayne," Ally explained and she slowly lowered her gun and slipped it into the belt around her waist.
"He's alive," The girl smiled and Ally nodded her head.
"Do you know him?" Austin asked, and he slowly edged in front of Ally, just incase.
"H-He's my dad."
Austin slowly turned his head to look at Ally's shocked face. The girl let out a happy cry and wiped away her tears of joy. She sniffled and looked at Ally.
"Where is he? I've been looking for him for years," She explained.
"We're apart of group. We've all split up, someone called Rufus has taken our son," Austin said.
"Rufus," She whispered. "I know him."
"Are you apart of his group," Austin growled.
"No!" She snapped. "He's the reincarnation of the devil. Like fuck I'm going to be apart of his group. He kidnapped me once a few months ago, I escaped thanks to this girl called Kira. They tend to camp out in warehouses."
"Will you help us?" Ally asked and Austin sent her a look. "What, she's Wayne's daughter!"
"She could be lying!" Austin snapped back.
"She is right here, and I promise you I ain't lying. My daddy's a Sheriff, please don't tell me he still wears that hat?"
"Yeah he still does," Ally replied with a smile. "See we can trust her."
"We don't know that," Austin retorted.
"If you want. I can just leave," She said, pointing behind her.
"No, no, no!" Ally ran around Austin and reached out to stop her. "We need your help to find my son, then I'll take you to Wayne. He's a good man and he also happens to be my Uncle...which means your family, and I'm not going to let you leave."
"That means I'm your cousin?" She said and Ally nodded her head.
"It also means my son is your cousin as well. He's your family, and that man right there's Austin, my husband, and I'm Ally," Ally explained and flashed her a smile.
"Wow..." She whispered. "I'm Jaime, but I prefer Jai."
...
They returned to the highway and Ally had done nothing, but talk to Jaime the whole way there. Austin was happy to see her smiling instead of looking like she was about to tear everything in her path, down. Austin had to admit it, he found it weird that they'd just found Wayne's daughter. He wasn't even sure if he believed her, so he made sure he stayed right by Ally.
Jaime looked over at him and she tilted her head slightly. It was like she was trying to read him. He hated that. And if she really was Wayne's daughter, then she'll be able to read him like an open book.
"How did you get separated from Wayne?" Ally asked.
"When the outbreak happened. I was at school, ran back to my house to find him nowhere around. By then there were zombies everywhere. I remembered he kept a gun in his nightstand, I took that and left. I looked everywhere, but it was hard to find him, because zombies got in the way, people got in the way."
"He never mentioned you," Austin muttered and Ally turned and narrowed her eyes in a scolding manner. "I'm just saying he never mentioned you."
"Yeah, well what are you supposed to think, when your daughter's at school. Zombies come and buildings get blown up. My school was in the city...everything got destroyed in the city," Jaime explained and she sent Austin a cold look.
"Austin, Ally?" The three of them looked over and saw Gregory, Dean and Sarah standing by one of the trucks. "Whose this?" Dean asked.
"I'm Jaime," She greeted them and her eyes landed on Gregory. She took in his attire. He was wearing a dark green top, a brown jacket, paired with a pair of dark baggy trousers. Jaime realized he was around her age, maybe a bit older. He had a pair of bright blue eyes and dirty blond hair, that seemed to glisten in the sunlight.
She paused. Whoa, you're fantasizing. She said to herself and she looked at the woman with them. She seemed to be missing a hand and she had it hidden behind the mans back, who was standing next to her.
"Any sign of them?" Ally asked, hope ringing in her tone.
"No," Dean replied and Ally sighed.
"Ally, we'll find him," Sarah said and Ally walked over and hugged her. Ally knew that Sarah still hadn't told Dean about being pregnant, and it was beginning to show. Ally could see the signs and it wouldn't be long before Dean figured it out too.
"Jaime is Wayne's daughter," Austin added.
"What?" Sarah responded. "I didn't know he had a daughter."
"Neither did we," Austin grumbled.
"You know I'm starting to think you don't like me," Jaime remarked and Dean chuckled.
"I like her. She's got fire," Jaime smiled over at Dean and her eyes fell on Gregory who was watching her closely.
"We should head into town. See if they're holding up there," Austin suggested and he grabbed Ally's hand and started walking off. Ally smiled at him, but he didn't return it.
"What's wrong?" She whispered.
"Just got a bad feelin' you know," He replied and she sighed.
"I know we've met a lot of bad people, but not everyone's bad...let's just focus on getting Nathan back, because when I get my hands on Cassidy...I'm just going to let all my anger out."
...
They raided one of the houses in the town. They'd decided to stay the night here and get started as soon as the sun rose again. Ally made her way over to the couch and she sat down. Her thoughts went straight to Nathan, Billy, Jess and Nevil. She ran a hand through her hair and sighed.
Jaime made her way over and sat down next to her. She looked over and flashed Ally an innocent smile, one which resembled Wayne's and it brought a smile to Ally's face.
"What's he like now, my dad?" She asked.
"Strong, powerful, a leader. He's even got himself a girlfriend-Oh...sorry."
"No, it's fine. My mom's long gone, never knew her anyway. She gave me to my dad when I was born, then left," Jaime explained. "Is she nice?"
"She's wonderful. She has a daughter called Lizzy, who is full of life."
"Cool," Austin walked past and Ally noticed Jaime watching him closely. She looked back at Ally and raised an eyebrow. "He doesn't like me."
"It's not that...he's just cautious about who to trust," Ally said. "We've met a lot of bad people."
"So have I, doesn't mean I've stopped trusting people. I've met rapists and cannibals," She explained.
"Cannibals?" Ally gaped at her and she nodded her head.
"You've encountered cannibals?" They both turned around and saw Gregory standing there. He made his way over and sat down on the armchair nearby.
"They weren't exactly the friendliest of people," Jaime replied. "I don't really wanna' talk about it."
"It's okay, you don't have to tell us anything," Ally reached out and squeezed her shoulder.
Dean walked in with Sarah and Dean began to start a fire in the fireplace. Sarah took a seat next to Jaime and Austin eventually came back in and he muttered something about going to keep watch out on the porch.
Ally watched him go and then she got to her feet, and followed him outside. She found him sitting on the porch step and she sat down next to him. He was resting his chin on the handle end of his crossbow, biting the side of his thumb.
"You okay?" Ally asked.
"I'm fine," He muttered.
"Austin, it's me. Don't lie," Ally retorted.
"I let her into the prison...and she took our son, it's my fault," He admitted and Ally placed her hand on his thigh.
"No way is this your fault," She whispered and she cupped his face, making him look at her. "It was not your fault."
"She has our son...he has our son," He muttered and Ally shushed him, but tears were welling up in her eyes.
"Like you said, we'll find him...okay, we'll find him," She pressed a firm kiss to his forehead and she slowly pulled away, looking into his eyes.
"I love you so much," He whispered and he crashed his lips onto hers. A small gasp escaped her lips, and she moved closer to him.
"Oh, sorry!" They both pulled away and saw Sarah standing there. Ally's skin turned red, but Austin looked at the treeline and returned to watch. Ally kissed his cheek, then got her feet, returning inside.
Ally saw that Jaime was gone. She saw Dean sat in front of the fire, heating up some of the canned food. Sarah sat down on the couch and Ally watched her rub her stomach. She shook her head at Sarah, as a way of telling her she was making it to obvious she was pregnant.
"Where's Jaime?" Ally asked.
"In the bedroom," Dean replied and Ally nodded her head and made her way into the bedroom.
"Hi," Ally said, leaning against the door frame. Jaime looked over at her and Ally could see she was crying. Jaime sniffled and wiped her tears away. Ally made her way over to the bed and sat down next to her. "What's wrong?"
"Still having trouble believing my dad's alive," Jaime admitted. "I've been looking for him for so long, and I can't believe I get to see him again."
"Once we find Nathan, I'll take you to him," Ally said.
"Thanks, it means a lot," She replied. "I know it probably doesn't mean a lot, but Rufus may be a bad person, but he doesn't have it in him to harm a baby...that's his weakness, he lost his children to the zombies and I know he'd never do anything."
"Oh..." Ally whispered.
"I said it wouldn't mean a lot," Jaime responded.
"It does, it means a lot...that means his fine, for now," Ally said.
"That woman out there, Sarah? She does know she's pregnant, right?" Jaime asked.
"Yeah, but she hasn't told Dean," Ally explained.
"Oh," She smiled and Ally got to her feet.
"I'm just gonna' go and see Austin," Ally said and Jaime nodded her head. Ally left the room and she walked down the hall and into the lounge. Austin was standing by the window, scanning the outside. Ally walked over and stood next to him. He looked over at her, then looked away, sighing.
Ally looked out of the window and looked out into the dark night. She reached out and grabbed Austin's hand, lacing her fingers through his. He gave her hand a squeeze, then pulled her into his side. She rested her head against his shoulder and stayed there content for a moment.
They'll find him. Nothing's going to stop them from getting to him. Nothing.
AN: Hey! I know I said I was going to get a few chapters up this week, but something came up. My mom decided she was going to surprise me and my brother with a trip, so we went away for a few days. So, I got delayed with writing chapters.
Anyway, next chapter will be the head on collision of getting Nathan back. And things will go down...Then we get to move on with the story, and get to the next plot and then this story will soon come to an end :( But that won't be for a while :)
So, Wayne's got a daughter? Hm? Thoughts?
Thank you for all the reviews, love you all :)
