[Izaya's POV]
A tired informant slowly blinked open his eyes at the absence of a secondary ring on his alarm, being sure that he'd pushed it a couple minutes ago but feeling like it had been much too long to pass as five minutes. Then again, he could have dreamed that first one and it could be 3 in the morning again, he was known to do that on occasion.. Eh, I still have to check.
With that, Izaya forced his eyes open, the ruby gems landing on his clock and processing the numbers on it for a minute before jumping up and out of his bed, only pausing because of a head rush. What the fuck, I'm over an hour late? Why didn't it go off!? the man screamed in his head, looking around for a moment to scan his room and see if there was anything he could quickly throw on. All he got to meet his eyes was Kasuka's jacket on the floor and the man's cellphone sitting on the bedside table making him groan. Great, I made us both late! Wait.. where is he?
Izaya took another look around to see no sign of his boyfriend, along with no signs of him in the bathroom at the moment. I know he wouldn't leave me here to be late on my own... Wait, who's downstairs?
The informant groaned in his head again at still being half-asleep, his mind taking a lot longer than needed to process what was going on. Glad no one's tried to kill me yet, I might not stand a chance... Oh yeah, talking. He focused once more and just cracked open his door enough to make the voices decipherable, sighing relief when it seemed to just be Namie. She must be talking with Kasuka.
He left the door and went over to get properly dressed, deciding that if him and Kasuka were already so late with no calls being made to him asking why then everything must be handled already. The ravenett threw on a red t-shirt, not feeling like wearing his tight sweater today, and his usual black jeans before heading downstairs, rubbing his eyes lightly as he noticed that things were still blurry. Probably from his rush to get up earlier. There are reasons why he likes to be punctual, after all.
When he finally caught sight of his assistant and boyfriend he rolled his eyes, watching them exchange pleasantries with each other casually as they waited for him. Kasuka had a coffee in his hand and he noticed Namie had tea in hers, making him wonder where she even got it from since he didn't keep tea in his house, but he pushed passed that fact and knocked on the railing as he got to the bottom, announcing his presence. "How long have you guys been down here?"
Kasuka looked up at him first and let out a smile. "About half an hour. She crashed on the couch last night." the actor reported, getting a look from the one on the stairs and a nod of confirmation from the woman in the room.
"Why the heck did you do that?"
"You were making me work later hours and I was already dead tired by the time Heiwajima showed up. I didn't wanna bother with the subway."
The informant just gave a shrug at that, having heard many times of her plights using the train and subways systems around here. Honestly, she had about the single worst luck of anyone he knew with them and it was laugh-worthy. A stolen wallet, spilling her purse on the way out, forgetting her cellphone on one of the seats, general perverts seeming to have a magnet for her. It was one of the few things he felt pity over her for.
He went over and dropped onto the couch beside his lover as Namie got up and went off to do something, he wasn't paying much attention to her at this point. "So what about work?" Izaya mumbled quietly once she was out of ear-shot. Of all the people that he didn't want to find out about his cross-dressing, his own assistant was definetly number one on the list by a long shot. If she heard about it then he would never live it down. She would make fun of him for it, tease him with it, use it as a kind of blackmail, even get raises with it - or possibly worse, she could be one of those people completely on board with it to the point of trying to give him a make-over whenever they had a lapse in actual work. He almost shuddered at the last thought.
"The set is having maintenance done. We're off for the day." his boyfriend reported, getting a smile and nod back as Izaya leaned his head on the ravenett's shoulder and watched idly as Namie came back with a cup of coffee for him as well. The informant almost wanted to make a comment about her giving Kasuka one first out of hospitality he didn't know she had but decided against it, since she most likely had a whole pot still in the kitchen ready to pour on him. He gave a small hum of thanks before sipping it, glad to officially wake up that morning.
"Well, even if you don't have work today, I do." Izaya finally said after a bit more chatter between the three of them, Namie being surprisingly pleasant when she wanted to be despite the occasional bickering they exchanged when Izaya corrected her on something. The informant gestured towards his computer with a small sigh and Kasuka frowned, just keeping a hold of his waist like he had been since they sat together. When Izaya tried to sit up, the arm tightened more, keeping him firmly in his seat. "Kasu-"
"You can work today as long as you agree that I can take you out on a date for lunch. We go outside, get some fresh air, find something to eat together, all of it. You've been inside too long." the actor prompted, face completely serious as Izaya raised a brow at him.
"Kasuka.." As much as I really want to.. "I don't have time for all that, at least not today." the informant tried to persuade, knowing that if he kept putting off this one particular assignment that he could get in trouble again before the three weeks were even up. His boyfriend, however, didn't let up.
"I'll try to make it quick then, you just have to go out with me today. Just once and I'll let you finish this assignment before coming over again." Izaya stared at the other ravenett for a long moment before he glanced at Namie, seeing an expectant look on her face as well as she casually sipped her tea, looking like one of those people who constantly watched talk shows and have just gotten used to the drama by now. Of course no one's on my side... Well, technically.
"Okay, we'll go out today, I promise. Now can I at least get started before it's frickin' noon?" the informant huffed, getting a grin in return before Kasuka's arm finally released him.
"Of course you can, darling~" Kasuka teased lightly from behind him, causing a light blush to spread on Izaya's cheeks before he picked up the least lethal thing on his desk and chucked it at him, the crumpled paper hitting his boyfriend's head harmlessly. His boyfriend just laughed before examining the paper thrown at him once he realized there was markings on it, seeing a field of flowers carefully scribbled there. "Iza-chan, did you draw these?"
"Draw what..? Shit." Izaya smacked himself in the forehead immediately as he recognized the long forgotten medium of boredom relief he'd cast away who-knows how long ago. Nothing's gonna be perfect today, is it?
"Hey, didn't your sisters draw something like this?" Namie questioned.
Nope, nothing at all..
Chapter 71!
Poor Iza-chan.. Even if you suck at drawing we still love you ^^
Anyways, another chapter of randomness since I don't seem to want to get to the plot again yet. But this does help transition into the plot I guess, so it should be fine. It'll at least be brought up later.
PS. I did not change anything in the last chapter. It was my mind playing tricks on me after all.
I hope you all liked this chapter! Favorite, follow and review to see more!
