[Kasuka's POV]
Man I missed this~ Kasuka mused to himself, the hand currently intertwined with Izaya tightening a little bit as they walked down the street. It was currently around 1:30, Kasuka giving his lover an extra hour to work before they left since he had let him sleep in unlike what his boyfriend asked. Now they were currently wandering down a busy street, an unusual empty busy street because it was Monday while people were in school or work but still generally busy, and they were scouting around for a new place to try. They both usually tried to stay within their comfort zone, like Russia Sushi or the ramen shop they had begun frequenting, but stretching their reach a bit seemed like a lot of fun when this was their first date together in over a couple weeks.
The informant beside him let out a content sigh as he drew closer, now hugging his arm despite the looks they got and relaxing his head on Kasuka's shoulder as they walked. It had gotten progressively easier for them to ignore the homophobic people in the area, before they had almost never walked fully hand in hand or looked at each other with loving smiles while out in public because of all of the gazes feeling burning to them, but after all they'd been through together the two had reached the point that they couldn't care less.
On a few rare occasions they would see another gay couple walking around, looking uncomfortable until they spotted each other and the couple began to relax, giving them large smiles as they began to walk hand in hand as well. That always made their day, helping people without even trying. Izaya always seemed to light up a bit when it happened too, looking like a kid in a candy store for a good few hours afterwards. As bad as he used to be, it's shocking how much he likes seeing people happy..
They finally reached a new place that looked good. It was an American styled restaurant but only with the fashion of the place; it still served common japanese food and desserts and all that but there were a few uncommon things on the menu like Root Beer, Cheesecake, things like that. "What is that even supposed to taste like?" Izaya wondered aloud, getting a shrug in response.
"I dunno but we can order one to share and see if we like it. Just pick something else to really eat." Kasuka offered, getting a nod in return before Izaya got bored just looking at his menu, reaching across the table and holding one of the actor's hands while he looked it over. Kasuka gave no complaints about it, just holding on as well until the server came and took their order, not looking up at them even once but not giving them a glare either when she noticed they were holding hands. Better than her telling us to leave, I guess.
Their food came quickly and they ate, both casing glances at their dessert and drink with confusion.
"You want the first bite?"
"No.. Do you?"
"Nope... At the same time then?"
"Alright."
They each got a forkful of cheesecake and counted to three before trying it, a few seconds of silence passing between them as their faces instantly fell.
"Why the hell did they even invent this!? It's way too sweet.." Izaya complained, hand covering his mouth as he talked to be polite and keep himself from spitting it out into a napkin. No matter how much he disliked food he had always made sure he swallowed what he ate for some reason.
Kasuka, on the other hand, had no problems getting rid of it without eating. Well, when not with Izaya.. For now he forced himself to swallow it with a shudder, coughing as it went down. "It feels like bad mash-potatoes..." he whined, taking a drink of his water to make it go away. His boyfriend just nodded in sad agreement before they both glanced at the bottle of Root Beer still on their table.
The dread that passed between them was so obvious that it ended up making them burst out into quiet laughter, the couple trying to hold it in as Kasuka waved over for their server to come back with a check. "We'll try it at home when we aren't already gonna vomit." the actor proposed, watching Izaya sigh with a small smile still on his face.
"Sure, whatever you want. But I thought you said you didn't want us to both get sick." the informant teased, getting a shrug in reply before they paid and grabbed the bottle, leaving for Izaya's home again and passing through the park on their way as a short cut. It was quiet between them for half of the journey but they were both smiling and enjoying themselves still.
"Hey, Kasu-kun?"
"Mm?"
"Thanks for forcing me out here today. I've been wanting to go on another date for a while now but.."
"But you needed someone to kick you into doing it?"
Izaya gave him a sheepish smile. "Yeah, I kinda did. Thanks." he murmured, getting a peck on the lips in return before they started walking at normal speed again, having slowed down to look around them before. Suddenly the informant let out an evil chuckle. "I wish we had ordered two slices of that cheesecake now. I could have given it to Namie once we got back and video taped it." Kasuka just shook his head.
"Why are you always so mean to Namie? That's a form of torture even you wouldn't go through with."
"Yeah, but Namie and me are like... Like those people that base a whole friendship on a prank war going on. And this war has been raging for a couple years now." the ravenett replied, finally working out what he wanted to say before looking over at the actor. Kasuka was about to reply again when Izaya suddenly stopped, looking at him intensely now.
"What is it?"
"How tall are you?"
"What? Why does it matter?"
"Because we're equal at eye level now! You used to be shorter than me!"
"Awww, did you feel better being the bigger person~?"
"Actually, yes. Yes I did..."
"Well, I am still growing. Sorry you aren't anymore, old man."
"I'm 21, and will remain 21 for however long I please unlike you! Besides, show respect to your elders!"
"I'll respect my elder more when he isn't the one panting under me in bed~"
"Kasuka!"
Chapter 72!
Alright, so I couldn't help ending with another super-flustered Izaya, it was just destined to happen x3
And yeah, the plot will continue again soon guys, most likely right in the next chapter, so don't worry about more filler.
Despite the filler being almost better than the plot in my opinion.. (This fic is almost turning into a Naruto series...)
Anyways, I hope you enjoyed their little date and the bit of culture shock they got, plus Izaya talking about his Bromance, I just really wanted to write something like this for a while, almost the moment Izaya got a big pile of assignments actually.
I hope you all liked this chapter! Favorite, follow and review to see more!
