[Izaya's POV]
"Shin, why didn't you say something sooner? Why did you just leave me alone if you were worried!?" Izaya demanded, stress building quickly as he began to pace his living room in front of the blond.
"I-I didn't see any good in telling you about something that might definitely not happen! When I came you were finishing up with the problem and I was helping you get done even quicker so, ya know, crisis avoided!" Shinnosu exclaimed, stuttering now as he was put under pressure. The blond had never done well under it vocally, though he was a great man of action when put under it instead.
The informant just turned to him with a glare, trying his best to not be so harsh as he spoke. "It doesn't matter if the crisis is avoided for now or not. What if you never warned me and next week when I get more assignments something happens? Or if I get a single error into my work and get.. g-get that done to me without a single clue!? Do you think that would be fair to me!?"
"Of course not! Look, I'm sorry. I-I thought I was doing the right thing, I thought-"
"You think a lot of things! And then a lot of the time you don't think at all!" Izaya cut him off, turning away again before he tried to compose himself, walking until he could press his forehead against the wall. He dug his nails into the closest thing he could grab, for the moment it being his own arm, as he tried to put together just how close he could have been to getting a punishment if not for his sudden breakthrough with work. Knowing Shiki I would have only had a couple more days… I probably would have been called up tomorrow for a "meeting" and gone and…
The informant paused his thinking when there was suddenly a hand on his shoulder, the hand pulling him away from the wall and turning him around to face his usually cheerful co-worker. "Izaya, I'm sorry I didn't tell you. I-I guess I should have, I didn't think about it still being a threat after this, I-I didn't think hard enough.." Shin admitted, getting a nod out of him before he looked down again, the informant not knowing what to do and just accepting it when Shinnosu pulled him in for a hug.
"B-But things are still gonna be okay, okay? You're done with almost everything by now and still have plenty of time to finish this last assignment, and if you need any help at all with future assignments you have me around.. And you have Kasuka! I'm sure he'd love to help you any way he can, I could tell when I met him!" the blond continued, trying his best to get his friend to smile again, or at least to relax a little.
The mention of his boyfriend made him brighten up a bit before the informant sighed softly, covering his face with a hand as he tried to push away a headache and the twinge forming in his stomach. Kasuka… If something like that had happened, how could I ever look at him again? He's the only one I've ever done anything serious with, I want to keep it that way but if Shiki decided to go through with his threat then.. I don't even want to think of how filthy I'd be. Even if Kasu-kun didn't hate me, I'd hate myself enough for the both of us…
"Izaya!" Shinnosu pressed, having been calling his name for the last couple minutes with no result. The blond paused for a second before shifting to hold Izaya's wrist, noticing the now bleeding marks on his arm where the informant's nails had been pressing. "Everything's fine now.. Okay? Do you want me to call him?" the blond asked softly, waiting patiently until there was a nod before he glanced around quickly, spotting a cell-phone and picking it up. "You have his number on this one?" Another nod was given, and soon Shin was on the phone with Izaya's lover, not explaining anything and instead just saying that Izaya wanted to hang out with him and was currently taking a shower.
After what felt like much too long, Shinnosu was hanging up the phone and gingerly handing it to the ravenett. "He's on his way.. Are you going to tell him about work?" Izaya paused for a moment, not sure what to do at the moment.
Well.. Like Shin said, there's no immediate threat at the moment, we handled it… But if something happens eventually and he finds out and then finds out that I already knew it could happen and didn't tell him.. Along with heart broken he'd be so upset, maybe even disappointed… If I don't tell him, he might blame me later.
The informant gulped at the last thought, his mind quickly going back to the fact that it might not happen. No, it definitely won't happen. I won't let it happen.. I don't need to tell him, at least not yet.
"I dunno, Shin. I might…. Just give me a little while to think, kay?" Izaya finally got out, receiving a nod back and there being another awkward silence between them before the blond spoke up.
"Um.. I told him you'd been in the shower. Do you normally blow dry your hair?"
"No, I don't."
"Then you should probably hop in really quick unless you want him to be suspicious.. And you should definetly wash your arm while you're in there, it'll help."
"Right.. Thanks Shin. You can stay and hang out for a while too, if you want. I know Kasuka's been wanting to see you again." Izaya muttered, giving his friend a forced smile before heading up the stairs and into his room, intent on figuring out the best way there was for him to warn Kasuka without getting too much of a backlash thrown at him for it.
